"Good morning, Burgress! This is Malinda Mae here giving you all your morning news!" The TV blared as Allison turned it on as she sipped her coffee. Her husband had woken her up nearly ten minutes ago when he said he was going back out to look for Gen. He spent most of the night looking for her only to come back two hours ago to get a little bit of sleep. Now he was up and ready to go back out. She was surprised that Gen wasn't home yet. It wasn't like her to do something like this.
"There was a fire this morning around 4:15am. Fire broke out in a 9 person family home of Jacob Miller the 15 year old with a full scholarship to Princeton. Our reporter Sky is at the scene. Sky."
The image changed to a younger girl with a burned home behind her. There were some people there looking at the remains of the home. "Thank you Malinda. I'm here at the Miller's family home. Two people have been taken to the hospital one in critical condition. A bystander who found the house on fire along with a neighbor were the ones to alert the family of the fire. The Miller family was asleep in their beds when the fire broke out. I have Jemma and Leopold Fitz-Simmons were woken up from their beds to pounding at the door. Mr. Fitz-Simmons can you tell me what happened?"
"I was woken up by a girl calling for help. I opened the door and she told me a house was on fire and to call. The both of us ran to the house and got most of the family members out. Jacob's room was in the basement and the only way to get to him was a basement window. Myself and his father were too big. This girl went and…."
Allison grabbed the remote and paused the TV as she heard a knock. There was someone knocking on the door it was nearly 6 in the morning who would possibly be knocking. "I got it!" Gregory shouted heading from the stairs to the door. She leaned on the door frame from the living room watching the front door. Gregory opened the door to see two officers standing there.
"Mr. Conrad? Genevieve Conrad's father?" One officer asked. The remote fell from Allison's hand hitting the play button as it landed on the floor.
"she got Jacob out. She saved his life. That girl she said her name was Gen, she's a hero. She's been carted off by an ambulance."
Pitch had found it odd to find Gen's house quiet. The gates to the cemetery were closed and flowers were placed at the entrance. He found that overly strange, but then he found all things that mortal's did strange. Pitch found that even the dogs were gone when he reached the door and rang the bell. No one at all was home it appeared to him. He would come back later.
Olivia Bennett was the only one up when two frantic parents brought two children and dogs over. She of course agreed to watch them. Something had to have happened to make the Conrad's frantic as they were. Jamie of course asked why the Conrad twins and dogs were here when he woke. Olivia wasn't sure herself until she turned on the morning news. Genevieve had been taken to the hospital. Smoke inhalation more than likely was the cause. She wasn't sure how critical the girl's condition was. She hoped the girl would make it.
"Mom, will Gen be okay?" Jamie asked his mother figuring out the exactly the same thing she did.
"I don't know." Olivia was honest with her son. "I don't know. Let's just keep the twins happy okay?" Olivia looked at the two extra dogs in her yard. The two dogs look depressed. "Please." Olivia whispered more to herself than anyone else. "Please let her be okay."
Gregory watched his daughter hooked up to all the machines like something from some TV drama. He couldn't lose her too. He just couldn't. She'd been right he just wanted to forget and with the forgetting came his hardest challenge her. He hadn't known what to do with his daughter when his wife died. Every day he'd seen his wife in her, but he knew he wasn't his wife it was the best thing he ever had. Genevieve was something that Joy had always wanted. Joy was there in his daughter her smile, her eyes, but each day he had seen his traits too, his hair, and his stubbornness.
When he moved on when he had been ready, but he should've made sure Gen was ready too. He knew Gen liked Allison, but he knew Gen thought he was trying to make Allison take Joy's place.
"Excuse me. Mr. Conrad?" A nurse knocked on the door. "Someone would like to see you. She says she has something from your daughter."
"I'll be right there." Gregory said he gave Gen a kiss on her forehead before leaving the room. He followed the nurse to an area where there was a familiar face. "Maggie?"
"Mr. Conrad." Maggie said standing up and walking towards him. "I'm sorry. I should have sent her home." She apologized. "I didn't think one night away would've…well anything like this would have happened."
"What?"
"Gen came to my bar. I was going to let her spend the night and cool off. She left during the early morning hours. Gen left these behind." Maggie showed him some papers. "The top one is yours. I didn't read it. She wrote one to a lot of family members and some boy named Pitch…I read his."
"Thank you." Gregory told her. "I don't blame you for Gen not coming home. It was more my fault than everything."
"It's not your fault." Maggie said. "Gen loves you and adores Allison and her siblings." Maggie told him. "I remember her asking me a million times if I knew you were going to propose to her. I think she just had something that bothered her. I think she's scared from what I could tell. I think it's all about that boy Pitch."
"CODE BLUE….CODE BLUE…." The PA system announced. Gregory felt his heart drop he prayed that it wouldn't say ICU. Gen was in the ICU. "CODE BLUE ICU…CODE BLUE ICU."
A/N: I couldn't help it I swear I tried not to write another cliffhanger, but I couldn't stop myself. But I still have 7ish hours til 2015 so I could write another chapter...If I was motivated...*cough cough* reviews *cough cough*
