Chapter 4: The journey begins
"Alright has everyone packed?" Louise asked. "Yeah!" Everyone cheered. Well everyone except Josh. "Ed?" Louise called. He looked up at her. "Yeah?" She tilted her head. "Where is your stuff?" Suddenly time froze and a filled gym bag appeared infront of him. Time sped up again and Josh held up the bag. "Haha! I must be going mad!" Louise rubbed her head. "Sorry! Well then let's go!" Josh glared. This would be a long trip.
"The first place on the map is Oriel." Louise read of the map. "It's quite close so that can be our first rest stop!" Josh glared at the window. They were currently on a bus that would take them half way to Lookon but they had to walk the rest of the way. "Hey Ed!" Demetry called. "Stop being such a loner and get over here!" Josh glared. "Nah I'm good!" Louise frowned. "Are you sure?" Josh made the mistake of looking at her face. He had to admit he had missed everyone over the time he had been gone and seeing Louise's sad face wasn't helping. "Fine." He grumbled and moved over to them. They all cheered. Louise giggled. He sighed and looked down. Godamn her.
It was now getting dark and they were walking down a large dust road. Josh growled. "Shit! At this rate I'm gonna change." He cursed under his breath. "Everything ok?" Louise asked. Josh jumped and nodded. "Yeah just tired." Louise pouted. "I know I thought we would have been there by now." She looked around the landscape. "Hey!" Aaron called. "We found a house!" Daniel finished. Louise's eyes brightened and she ran towards them. Josh threw his head back, one thought running through his head. Thank Satan. They walked over and found a small wooden cabin. "Looks like we have to double up." Aiden said."Except for Louise.. Well you know, she's a girl." Louise smiled and patted his shoulder. "Thanks for establishing that."
They all walked in and looked around. "Mmm. Seems stable." Louise smiled. "Well let's get some sleep. It's a long day tomorrow." Aidens stomach rumbled. "Louise. We know because you're an angel you don't need food. But we're humans." He complained. Louise shook her head. "Go ahead and eat i'm going to bed." She left the room. She then walked back in. "There are 4 rooms." Demetry pushed his glasses up his nose. "Me and Aiden will take one, Aaron and Daniel then you and Edward will have seperate rooms each." Louise nodded. "Kk! Night!" She ran off. "Night!" Everyone called. Josh looked out the window, it was getting dark. He began to walk out of the room. "I'm going bed. Eat all ya want." He waved then left.
He was walking down the corridor and heard whispering. He saw Louise's door slightly open. "Hey Josh! We're on our way to get the book of angels. I hope you're taking care of yourself. Not killing people. We'll find a way to help you soon. Ok?" She smiled at the photo in her hand. It was a picture of everyone. Josh looked down. "Idiot." Louise looked up. "Hello?" Josh's eyes widened. He quickly his behind the corner. Louise walked out of the room and looked around. Her eyes fell to the floor. "That sounded like Josh..." She shook her head and went back into the room closing the door completely. Josh looked down and found he was in his demon form. "Shit!" He cursed and quickly ran into one of the rooms. "This was going to be a Very long trip.
It was the middle of the night and Louise was woken up by the sound of a strong wind. She opened her eyes to find a herd of demons surrounding her. "Kyaaaaa~!" Josh sprang up. "Louise!" He got up and reached for the door but stopped. "What am i doing?" He looked at his hand and curled it into a fist. No he can't protect her any more. Aiden and Demetry ran into the room and saw the demons holding Louise up. "LOUISE!" Josh looked up. He thought of something and smiled. "You guy's go there should be more demons in the house i can handle these!" Demetry walked forward but Aiden stopped him. Demetry looked at Aiden and nodded. They then both ran out of the room, transforming as they went.
A light enveloped Louise and she transformed. She was about to slice the demons when they threw her at the wall. "Ow!" She hissed holding her head. She ran forward and went for a hit but one tripped her up from behind. She kicked it off her and went to slice it in half. It dispated and re appeared behind her. It grabbed her head and smashed it against the window sill making blood pour down her face. "Shit!" She said from the floor. Her vision was going blury. No.. I can't... i have to help...Save me... Please J... Save me. Please... "Josh..." Her vision cleared a bit and she saw a blackish mist infront of her. She tilted her head. The demons came at the mist but it backed them all away. "Josh..?" Louise whispered. Her head fell to the side and she fell unconcious. "About time idiot." Josh said as he returned to his original form. "Demons. I am the son of Satan. I suggest you leave now." He demanded fiercely. "But if you are the son of Satan why are you protecting her." Josh chuckled. "Because. I will be the one to defeat her." His eyes began to glow red and his aura changed. "I suggest you leave." The demons cowered and disappeared.
Josh sighed and turned to Louise. He tucked some hair behind her ear to see her head. "You really are an idiot. Aren't you?" He lifted her up and placed her on the bed. He hovered his hand over her body. She slowly reverted to her original form. He placed his hand on her head and it glowed. "Stop being so careless." He smirked. "LOUISE!" Everyone ran into the room to find Louise on the bed sleeping. "Louise!" They all ran over. She had no cuts or scratches anywhere. She slowly opened her eyes to all the noise and looked around. "Josh?" They all looked at her funny. "Josh? Louise did you hit your head?" Aiden asked. Louise shook her head. "No! He was here... I swear it was him." Demetry patted her head. "Ok. I'm sure he was." He then turned to the boys. "He was! He real-" She stopped when she looked out the window. She swore she saw him looking at her but when she rubbed her eyes he was gone. She looked down. Maybe he wasn't here...
The next morning everyone woke up very tired. "Ughhh!" Aiden groaned sitting down at the table. "I'm tired!" Louise patted his head. "Don't worry we all are." He looked at her. "How are you doing?" She put on the best smile she could manage but everyone saw through it. "I'm fine." Just as Aiden was about to say something Josh walked in. "Well looky here. If it isn't the slacker!" Josh glared. "I got knocked unconcious." He said with a poker face. "Oh really because when i walked into your room you weren't there." Aiden said smugly. "I was thrown out a window." Josh said still with a poker face. "Why you-" "Guys'!" Demetry shouted. Everyone turned to him and he gestured his head to Louise. She was looking at the table deep in thought. Josh looked at her sadly, this not going un noticed by Aiden. "Maybe we should stay here for another night." Aaron suggested. "Yeah. True. It's not like we have a time limit to find the book." Daniel shrugged. "Ok! What do you say Louise?" Aiden asked. Louise smiled and nodded. "K!"
"Why are we doing this?" Josh complained. "If you want to reach your full potential as a knight you have to train." Aiden smirked. They were all outside the cabin and transformed. Aiden had dragged them out here to train Josh/Edward. "You ready?" Louise asked. Josh looked at her and smirked. "You're on." Louise smiled. "First you need to summon a weapon. These guy's did it before when we first found you. Give it a go." Josh thought for a moment then placed his hand out in front of him. "Metal Scythe!" A light glow and dimmed leaving behind a scythe in its place." Louises eyes sparkled. "Cool!" She ran over and took the weapon. She examined it. "Nice." She complemented. "I know." Josh said causing her to laugh. They heard a cough and saw the others waiting expectantly. "Oh right!" Louise gave back the weapon and faced her opponent. "You ready now?" Louise asked. "Are you ready?" Josh smirked.
Louise sprinted forward and drew her sword going for his stomach. Josh dodged and appeared behind her. Louise stopped and turned around. Louise ran at him again and again he dodged. Eventually Josh pulled out his scythe and blocked the attack. "Not bad." Louise said breathing heavily. "Not bad yourself." They fell back and went in for another hit but ended up clashing weapons. Josh made a swip for her feet but she jumped up and flipped over his head. Josh kicked her in the stomach and she fell to the ground. "Louise!" She got up laughing and went to punch him in the gut. He dodged and pushed her on the back so she fell to the ground. "Oof." Louise said as she landed. Josh laughed until he heard crying. He stopped laughing and looked down at Louise who looked to be shaking with sobs. "Hey. I'm sorry are you-!" He reached out his hand but instead of using it to pull her up she used it to pull him to the ground. She placed her foot on his chest. "Never feel pity for the enemy. Especially if it's a girl." Josh laughed. "Note taken." Louise reached out a hand and pulled him up. They turned back to the group who were looking at them in disbelief. "What?"
Later that day Aiden pulled Josh away for a chat. "I don't know what you're playing at but you better stop now." Josh arched an eyebrow. "What do you mean?" Aiden glared at him. "Wait... Do you still like her?" Aiden grew red, almost as red as his hair. "NO! Wait... what do you mean still?" Josh realized his mistake. "Nothing. Just said the wrong words." Aiden looked at him skeptically. "Can i go now?" Josh asked. Aiden waved his hand. "Yeah sure do whatever you want." Aiden said glaring at him the whole time.
"Guy's!" Aiden called. "What?" Louise asked. "I think Ed is up to something!" Louise laughed. "Yeahhhh…" She said. Everyone else was silent. "What you guy's seriously think he's up to something?" She asked shocked. "Well…" Aiden said. "He does seem kind of suspicious." Daniel tried to reason. "You guy's are just paranoid." Louise smiled. "No! You just think he will replace Josh!" Aiden shouted. "Aiden!" Demetry shouted. "THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH HIM!" She shouted back. "ARE YOU SURE?!" He glared at her. "OF COURSE I'M SURE! WHAT'S WRONG WITH YOU?!" She asked/ shouted. "WHAT'S WRONG WITH YOU?!" He countered. Louise laughed. "HA! I KNOW YOU'RE JEALOUS!" Aiden scowled. "HOW AM I JEALOUS?!" "BECAUSE YOU STILL LIKE ME!" Aiden froze. "BOTH OF YOU STOP IT!" Demetry roared. They both looked at him. Aiden snarled and walked off. "Aiden.." Louise started to call after him but it was useless. What they didn't know was Josh was listening the whole time.
