Chapter 5: Trust
Aiden had disappeared earlier in the evening and was not seen for the rest of the day. "Just be patient. I'm sure he's just sulking somewhere." Aaron reassured. Louise nodded. "Mind you I haven't seen Ed all day either." Daniel commented. Louise sighed. "I'm gonna go to bed. Night." Louise sighed and walked off. "Great." Demetry sighed. Louise lay back on her bed and sighed. "I'm such an idiot." She complained. "No you're not.." She heard. She quickly sat up and looked around. She recognised that voice. "Josh?" She looked around but there was no sign of the person. She opened her window and climbed onto the roof. She looked around again and looked down. "God damnit.." She sat down. "Louise?" She looked around. "Josh?" "Y- No. It's Ed." Louise sighed. "Why don't you come up?" Josh panicked. "I can't." Louise arched an eyebrow. "Why?" Josh looked left and right. "Ermm… I'm afraid of the dark!" Louise was sceptical but accepted it. "Fine then I'll come down there. And don't worry about Aiden he's an idiot."
Louise crawled to the edge of the roof then swung into room. "Wait wha-?!" Louise landed on her feet with a thud. She looked around trying to see in the dark room. "Ed?" She walked forward. "Don't come near me." Louise arched an eyebrow. "What's wrong?" She heard his quick breathing. "I thought you were scared of the dark..." She heard his breathing get quicker. Josh looked at her being able to see very clearly in the dark. "Ed? Are you mad abou-!" Louise's eyes widened. Josh gasped. "LOUISE!" There was a hand that had grabbed her ankle. Slowly Louise began sinking. "ED! HELP!" Josh looked around frantically. He sighed and ran forward. He grabbed her arm and began to try and pull her away from the demon. Louise tried shaking it off her ankle but it wouldn't budge. "HELP!" She cried. Josh grunted. "I'M TRYING!" Louise shook her ankle so much it began to hurt. She shut her eyes and called out the only thing she knew to say in this situation. "JOSH!" Josh gave a finally tug and the demon let go of her causing them both to fall to the floor.
Louise rubbed her head and looked up. There was a stream of light that they had landed in. What lay before her was not Edward Rose but. "Josh..?" She asked tears building up in her eyes. She looked at his appearance he was in his demon form. Josh quickly snapped his head up. "I'm not Josh you're dreaming.." He tried to convince her. "No. No. I'm not dreaming. I've had dreams like this before and they are nothing compared to seeing you here." She began to hit him on the chest whilst crying. "You idiot! Do you know how worried i was?!" She head butted his chest. "I'm sorry! I'm so sorry. It's my fault you're this way." Josh looked at her sadly and patted her head. "It's ok. It's not your fault." Later they were sitting in his room once Louise had calmed down. "So you were sent to destroy us?" Josh nodded. "That was before i saw you all. I didn't realize how much i had missed you all.." Louise looked at him. "So it was you who saved me last night." He nodded. Louise smiled and hugged him. "Thank you." He smiled and hugged her back. "Hey. Can we keep this a secret. So the others don't know?" Louise nodded. "Ok." He patted her head. "You should go to bed now. You must be tired from earlier." Louise nodded and stood up. She opened the door and stood in the doorway. "I knew there was something about Edward Rose i could trust." Josh smiled. "Night." Louise smiled back. "Goodnight." Then she left closing the door behind her. She pressed her back against the door as tears streamed down her face. Tears of happiness.
"What were you doing in there?" Louise looked to her left surprised to see Aiden. She quickly stood and wiped her eyes. "It's nothing." Aiden gave her a sceptical look. "Louise you can't trust him." Louise was about to have a go at him until she remembered the secret. "He's in the team now so you will have to learn to get along with him." She said walking away with her eyes shadowed. Aiden turned and glared at the door before walking away.
Louise stood at the door with her backpack on. "Right! We ready to head out?" Everyone cheered. Except Josh. Again. They all began walking the long dirt road to Oriel. "Ah I'm tired!" Aiden complained. "Deal with it." Demetry scolded. He was still annoyed with the red head. Louise was happily skipping ahead when she saw an old woman at the side of the road. She tilted her head and ran over. Josh looked up seeing her ran over to the woman and his eyes widened. "No Louise!" Everyone ran after her. "Um. Excuse me are you ok?" The old woman looked up to show everyone her glowing eyes. "Demon!" Josh sprinted forward as the demon was about to strike. Louise gasped and shut her eyes ready for impact but it never came. She looked infront of her to see Josh, he had taken the hit for her. "J- I mean Ed!" Louise quickly shot a blinding light from her hand making the demon disappear. Everyone stood in shock as Josh fell to his knees in pain. "Ack!" He coughed. "Oi! You idoit why did you protect me?!" Josh chuckled. "I made a promise remember?" Louise sighed and placed her hands on the wound. "This may sting." Light began to glow as she healed the wound. Aiden looked at the look on her face, the look he hasn't seen in a long time. "There." Louise said taking her hands away. "Feeling better." Josh nodded. "Thanks." He sat up. "We should get going." Everyone nodded and Daniel and Aaron helped Josh walk for a while.
"Hey Edward." Aiden called. Josh looked at him suspiciously. "What?" Aiden rubbed his head. "Thanks for saving Louise earlier. But it doesn't mean I can trust you!" Josh smiled. "Whatever." Aiden smiled too and they continued their journey to Oriel.
