Chapter 66
Blacklight V/S Blacklight
Tension could clearly be felt in the air as the two ninja armies stood in front of each other. On one side of the field, stood a tall Lizard masked Blacklight who happened to be the captain of 2nd company, and was regarded as Baku's close aide. The man was famous for his brutality and never took any prisoners...
And right now he was really pissed off, along with the other 400 Blacklight behind him...
Naruto was keenly observing the vast army in front of him. It was a known fact that 2nd and 3rd companies of Blacklight were quite brutual, unlike his company. The fact that they burned down 5 towns on just the suspicion that some Iwa shinobi could be hiding there, was enough to warrant caution against them.
He knew a straight up fight with them would be catastrophic for his troops, many won't make it and the destruction would be far more greater than what they suffered in the war.
More than 60% of his forces had surrounded Baku's castle from all sides, and the remaining were standing behind him. But the supreme commander was either not worried or over confident as he had sent his entire army to fight against Naruto, and it was indeed the right choice.
Because if he died during the battle, then it won't be long before his troops got overrun and destroyed.
He could just teleport to the castle and confront Baku, but that would leave his men at the mercy of these barbarians. So, there was only one way...
"Phoenix, tell your soldiers to stand down. You are under arrest for treason, come with us. These are the orders of the supreme commander" ordered Lizard flatly, but Naruto was not in the mood.
"Not happening, I'll surrender myself to the authority, my men will do the same. They'll decide what to do with me and my team..." answered Naruto without any doubt in his voice, and his fellow commander raised his hand as the entire 2nd and 3rd Blacklight company raised their weapons.
"We are prepared to use force..." warned Lizard,
"Don't do this, brother. This battle will only result in the loss of more lives, I give you my word that I will surrender to the authority...whatever accusation Baku wants to point, he can do in front of them" explained Naruto patiently, and was a little alarmed when Lizard leaked his KI as his glare intensified even more.
"I'm not your brother, you piece of shit. And you'll give the supreme commander proper respect...and lastly, your word means shit to me. Deserter!" accused Lizard, his voice full of hatred and malice...the same feeling which was seen in the eyes of his followers too.
Raido took a step ahead but was stopped when Naruto shook his head...
"There is no need for this battle, Captain. We can resolve this matter peacefully...you don't even know what happened to me" said Naruto peacefully,
"Enough, you and your stupid father have already done enough damage to our once great nation. But it all ends right here..." yelled Lizard furiously, making Naruto take a step back as the boy understood the real meaning behind this.
"If it weren't for Captain Naruto, we would have lost the war. Get that through your thick skulls, you barbarians!" shouted a member of 1st company,
"The war is over, we have won. Now there can be peace!" said Raido, but was shocked when Baku's entire army glared at him.
"THE WAR IS NOT OVER!"
The soldiers of 1st company could not understand just what was wrong with their fellow brothers. These were the most experienced Blacklight, and their seniors too...and they got a real bad feeling.
"You're starting a civil war in Konoha..." said Naruto sadly, and he was further disappointed when Lizard gave a firm nod of acknowledgment to the accusation.
"Why? What the fuck do you want now? We have won the fucking war..." asked Raido in frustration,
"We will win the day Konoha's flag is floating above every village, every town, every house. The world will follow us and acknowledge our superiority...we will gain our rightful place as rulers of the world under Baku-dono's leadership" announced Lizard proudly,
"You're insane..." said Naruto disgustedly,
"Well, aren't you a hypocrite? Aren't you planning to rule over the world with your empire...why resist us? Join us, together we can rule over the swines of the world, Phoenix" offered Lizard, and Naruto was shocked to the core after hearing those words.
"My empire is not meant to enslave the world, it is not meant to take away their human rights...it is a body through which I'll make people drop their prejudices and set them on a path of co-operation and mutual existence as a single united family. I don't want to rule over the fucking world...you moron!" yelled Naruto furiously,
Wasn't fighting the world enough? Now he had to fight against his own comrades...this was just pure madness.
"You're war mongers. Captain Naruto, we need to inform the Hokage about this..." advised Raido, as Lizard just chuckled.
"Fool, you have no idea how bigger this is. You think it's just about your pitiful comrades, hahahaha..." mocked Lizard, and Naruto narrowed his eyes when the Blacklight pointed his finger on the communication device on his ear.
"Yes, Commander. As you command..."
Naruto felt an uneasy feeling inside his heart when he saw an evil look appearing in Lizard's eyes, and his eyes widened in shock when the man pointed his finger at the top of the castle on whose edge his entire team was standing...
And there was Baku standing right behind Mikasa with a sword in his hand...
"You won't do that, the authority, the Hokage would kill all of you for this..." yelled Naruto nervously, as Lizard just chuckled.
"Fuck the authority, fuck the Hokage. We are the new world order...and this is just the beginning!" shouted Lizard madly,
Naruto quickly ran forward as Baku slashed his sword towards Mikasa...
SLASH
(Konoha)
Homura was patiently sitting inside his office, the war was finally over and now they could focus on rebuilding their home. The loss was too much, but they at least didn't lose.
BOOM!
His eyes widened in shock, when the door of his office was blasted to smithereens and he was further surprised when several Hyuga clan members led by Hiashi Hyuga charged in.
"What is the meaning of this?" yelled Homura angrily,
The old man freezed in shock when one of the Hyuga dropped Koharu's head on the ground. And before Homura could even digest this shock, Hiashi came forward and slammed his hand straight in the councilmen's chest.
"Jyuuken!"
Blood started coughing from Homura's mouth as he quickly collapsed on the floor, his vision started to darken as another Hyuga came beside Hiashi.
"Hiashi-sama, the branch family has overrun the Police Force and guards. At this moment, Root forces are taking over various establishments throughout fire Country. Danzo-sama is leading the charge..." said the Hyuga victoriously, as the dying Homura could just helplessly listen to the news...
"Confine the civilians to their homes. Impose a curfew, anyone gets out...kill them. These morons have disrespected our clan by becoming the Uchiha's lapdogs...it's time to teach them a lesson. And Ken, tell our soldiers they are free to do whatever they want in the Uchiha district" announced Hiashi in his usual stoic voice, but this time it had a little anger in it.
"Yes, Hiashi-sama. What message should I give to Danzo-dono?" asked Ken quickly,
"Tell him Operation Valkyrie has been initiated...and Konoha is under our control now"
(Osaka)
Mikoto and Itachi were currently busy inside the communication center trying to get a hold of Minato, they had to do something before Naruto got into any more trouble.
BANG
BANG
CLANG
CLANG
Their eyes widened in terror when several Blacklight platoons barged through the camp and started shooting everyone. Itachi quickly deflected the weapons with his tanto and threw some smoke bombs as he and his mother quickly ran outside the camp.
Only to see fires burning across the entire camp, the screams of people echoed in the area.
"What is this?" asked Mikoto in fear,
"Oh Kami...these bastards started a civil war!" said Itachi angrily,
Both of them were surprised when Tobirama flashed in front of them as Itachi quickly looked the man straight in the eye...
"What is happening?" asked Itachi urgently
"We need to get out of here. The camp's lost...hundreds of Blacklight and Anbu are killing everyone, even non-combatants. Let's go!" replied Tobirama urgently, and grabbed their shoulders as they quickly disappeared in a flash.
(With Naruto)
"NO!"
Naruto's terrified scream echoed across the entire field as he saw Mikasa's chest being pierced by Baku's sword, while the rest of his team started getting shot with Kunai launchers and started falling down from the castle.
The entire 1st company couldn't believe what was happening in front of them, but the final shock came in the form of Baku pushing a wounded Mikasa straight down the castle.
At that moment, waves of malicious chakra washed through the entire field as a murderous Naruto flashed straight towards Lizard and stabbed his sword clean through the man's chest.
"You bastards!" said Naruto darkly, but the man just smiled
"Feel true despair...Namikaze!" replied Lizard in a sadistic voice, before he and all his followers disappeared from the area.
Naruto's sword fell down on the ground as the hologram of his enemy vanished from his sights. Just what kind of genjutsu was this? It was so surreal that he couldn't even make the difference between the real person and an image...
He quickly activated his Mangekyo sharingan and focused towards the position where he had seen Baku, only to find a shadow clone popping out of existence along with the firing squad clones of his minions vanishing from their positions.
"It was a trap..." said Raido in defeat, and slammed his hand on the ground.
But Naruto and several other Blacklight quickly ran towards the place where their fallen comrades could be lying.
"Squad 1, search for any of Baku's bastards on this entire island. Bring them to me..." said Naruto furiously,
"Yes, sir"
"Squad 2, contact the headquarters at Osaka. Get in touch with my father...we need to inform him about this madness" ordered Naruto,
"On it Captain"
Both of his teams quickly went on their different ways in order to accomplish their tasks while the rest of his comrades quickly reached the border of the castle, only to find several bodies of their teammates.
'No, no, no. Medic, check their pulses, start the fucking emergency treatment NOW!" yelled Naruto in panic,
The Blacklight members quickly rushed towards their comrades, as a tearful broken Naruto slowly walked towards Mikasa...who was coughing up blood from her mouth along with the blood that was leaking from the hole in her chest.
"Yagura's down. He's fucking dead, sir. The bastards shot him in the head!"
Another medic quickly checked Kushina's pulse and was alarmed when her heartbeat slowed tremendously, and more than half of her chakra network had shut down. It was as if someone had extracted a large portion of power from her...
"Oh no..." thought the medic in fear, as she quickly placed her hand on the woman's chest in order to confirm her fears.
"Rangiku and Genma are critical. Shizune is not responding..."
"I've got no pulse in Anko!"
"Hana's dead!"
"Izumo is not breathing sir!"
"Fuck, they shot Iwashi too!"
Naruto collapsed on his knees, his entire body started shaking on seeing the nightmare that was happening in front of him. How could someone do this to their own comrades? Another coughing sound quickly brought him out of his despair as he dashed towards Mikasa...
"N-naruto...(cough)"
As he reached by her side, Naruto saw the vast hole in her chest and it was bad, really bad...and looking into her dying eyes scared him.
"(sobs) Mikasa..."
The girl just smiled a little while placing her bloodstained hand on Naruto's face, gently wiping the tears falling from his eyes...
"I'm (cough)...glad...(cough)...I...could...talk...to...(cough)...you...in...the...end" said Mikasa in a weak voice, and her vision started to darken.
"It's not the end...I'll heal you right away!" replied Naruto stubbornly, and tried to heal her wound but only ended up with more of her blood on his face.
He again gathered chakra in his hand in order to heal Mikasa, but was stopped when she grabbed his hand...
"You know? (cough) I...was...so...scared...as...a...child...everyone...was...(cough)...lying...to...me. I...didn't even know...who I was...and...from...where...I...belonged. So...I...always...kept...on...fighting..." said Mikasa sadly, and the love which she saw in Naruto's eyes gave her a some peace...
"Mikasa, don't you dare give up on me..." warned Naruto, as she just smiled like an innocent child.
"Naruto, you've been fighting against the entire world...all by yourself. (Cough) That's why I wanted to be the...(cough) one truthful person to you" said Mikasa honestly, bringing more tears in his eyes.
"Mikasa..."
"I love you, Naruto"
Those words shocked him immensely, and looking into her dying eyes and the love which she had in them for him made him feel even more guilty.
"Even if you belonged from a prestigious clan and there was no match between us (sobs), I couldn't stop myself from loving you...
...Despite the darkness in your heart...I still continued to love you. (Sobs) Even if you had feelings for Rangiku...I still couldn't stop myself from loving you..." confessed Mikasa, and Naruto panicked when her eyes started to close.
He quickly grabbed her cheeks as his Mangekyo glared in her eyes...
"No, don't die...MIKASA!" yelled Naruto desperately, and casted several orders in her mind but her heartbeat continued to get slower.
The blood from her body spread across the nearby ground drenching his legs in it, but he didn't seem to care or notice while trying to save his best friend.
"No...matter...what...happens...I'll continue to fall for you. I guess it's my...fate?" asked Mikasa light heartedly,
"Hang in there...just, please" pleaded Naruto, as her hand that was resting on his face slowly lost its grip.
"I will always love...you"
THUD
"Ah...Mikasa...MIKASA!"
But there was no response as her body peacefully lay on the ground with a small smile on her face. Silence prevailed in the area as Naruto fearfully glanced at the bodies around him and the blood on his hands...
A sudden surge of energy started circulating across his body, he was overwhelmed by so many emotions as the color of one of his eyes slowly started to change...
"AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH"
