Yo...
I'm very happy you guys liked the last chapter and the new things that have been introduced. Now, I don't hate Cannon but in all my stories I want to do something different, something entirely new. I've always been like this, you know that one guy in the class who always tries to defies logic and think about strange, new things. Even if they seem impossible, I like to try to make them happen...because's that who I am, and humbly speaking that's why quite a few people have liked my stories.
It's true that I wrote this story for Stana, but I'm also paying a tribute to something that inspired me to become a fictional writer. And that's the thing which has made me so attached to this story. Now, I don't know about any of you...but a small tear will indeed slip from my eyes when this story gets finished.
Yuna is Naruto's cousin sister...
Enjoy the chapter...
Chapter 84
Rookies
Rangiku was peacefully staring at the bright moon shining in the sky, the fact that her head was resting on Naruto's chest listening to his slow heartbeat just made it much more relaxing for her, while he gently caressed her back.
Both of them were currently cuddled up in the middle of a small training field, since the past few days he was helping her learn her Kekkai Genkai.
"Swift Release"
She could still not understand, how he simply gave such a plain name to her power. But then again, Naruto was just like that...
Rangiku could feel his hot breath hitting her cheek, as she pressed her body even more closer to him. Resting in his arms made her feel a strange sense of warmth, she felt safe.
"I love this..." said Rangiku happily, gaining a little smile on his lips.
"Me too..." replied Naruto politely, as she looked at him in surprise.
''I thought that maybe you didn't..." said Rangiku doubtfully, and watched as a tired sigh escaped from his lips.
"I never wanted to be a ninja, Rangiku..." said Naruto honestly, which completely surprised his beautiful girlfriend.
"Really?" asked Rangiku in surprise,
"If not for the war and protecting Itachi from it, I would have never been a ninja..." said Naruto patiently, and chuckled a little when she shifted a little and was now completely resting on him, with her large breasts hitting his chest and her beautiful blonde hair hanging over him as a protective shield...
"Then what did you want to be, truly?" questioned Rangiku,
"Maybe a doctor, a civilian one..." said Naruto sheepishly, and she could see he was clearly embarrassed.
"Why?" asked Rangiku curiously, while gently rubbing her fingers across his cheek.
"Every person yearns for that thing which they couldn't get in their life, for me it was a normal life with friends and family around me. When you grow up in a clan, even a small one like mine you never get to experience the real world like other normal children. Most of your friends are fake and selfish, and the people who try to show affection are ultimately after the long term benefits of being with you...the only thing that was real were my parents and my little brother. You don't know how much I yearned for a true friend, for a life where I could just be my true self" explained Naruto in detail, and hearing his words made her understand what Naruto really was beneath everything.
"I guess you are right, but can I ask you something, Naruto?" asked Rangiku hesitantly, but was relieved when he gave her a smile.
"Anything"
"If you could go back in time, would you change everything? Would you even become a ninja or a Blacklight?" asked Rangiku without any hint of emotion in her voice,
But what she didn't know that Naruto could feel the emotions that were in her heart- anxiety, doubt. Guess she was worried if he would also choose to leave her for a normal life...
"You know, for what's it's worth I would always chose to be where I am right now. There has been a lot of pain, suffering in this path...but it also got me my true friends and something even more. I'm happy with you, Rangiku. When I'm with you, I forget about all the shit that is going on around us, with you I'm already living a normal life...the life which I always wanted. And for that I'll forever be grateful to you'' said Naruto happily,
He was surprised when a few tears slipped from her eyes,
"Hey, hey..." said Naruto affectionately, and slowly wiped away her tears.
"I just want this to never end, us. And watching you getting attacked every now and then scares me. I lost you once, Naruto...I can't go through something like that again" said Rangiku worriedly,
Naruto could clearly understand why she was feeling this way. Over these years, they had lost a lot of friends. Some to the ninja villages, while others to the Akatsuki indirectly. And now everyone knew Madara was out there, and were scared of the man.
He knew why she was worried, one by one all the males of their little friendly group were dying. Before the war started their group was divided into 2 parts:
Boys: Naruto, Armin, Kotetsu, Izumo, Genma, Aoba, Iwashi.
Girls: Mikasa, Rangiku, Shizune, Anko, Hana, Yugao.
Among the females only Yugao was not alive right now. But Armin, Kotetsu, Aoba were dead...and now only Iwashi, Naruto, Genma and Izumo were alive. With the threat of Akatsuki hanging over their head and the cycle of all the boys dying, her concerns were indeed valid.
And she was right too,
"I can't think about that right now..." thought Naruto seriously, and decided to comfort the troubled blonde girl.
"Don't worry, I promise you that I am not going anywhere for at least another few years..." said Naruto happily,
"Another 100 years" demanded Rangiku, she sounded like a little girl demanding something like that...but it just made him smile.
"Sure, sure. We will send the Akatsuki back to hell, and live happily ever after" promised Naruto, as a wide smile came on her face.
"Do you really mean that?" asked Rangiku insistently,
"Yeah"
And he didn't resist when she enveloped him a in fierce hug, and returned the gesture happily.
"We will, Rangiku..."
(Barrier Control Station)
Yuna Namikaze could not understand how her simple yet boring life had been turned upside down in a matter of a few minutes. Her squad leader was dead, their outpost was under siege by some hard-core commandos who had no interest in taking prisoners, and were killing anyone that came in front of them.
1 of her comrades was injured, while the other one was not strong enough to fight against those enemy commandos. She was fast and had good reflexes, but it was not enough for taking on the enemy soldiers.
At the same time, they could not just leave such an important post to the enemy. Konoha was in great danger, if that barrier fell...
'FUCK!" shouted Yuna in a frustrated voice,
"Calm down, Yuna. Do you want to get us killed?" asked the injured Daisuke angrily,
"He's right, we just managed to get out of the barrier control station. But we're still very close to the enemy forces..." suggested Kentaro in a firm yet sympathetic voice, and was satisfied when the girl regained her composure.
"Sorry, but I don't know what to do. We can't let those bastards have that post..." argued Yuna,
"They killed our squad leader and Mitsuo, Yuna. Those freaks are stronger, faster and greater in numbers than us. Even if we want to, we can't do anything" explained Daisuke seriously,
A tired sigh escaped from Yuna's lips as she performed basic medical ninjutsu on Daisuke's injuries, she could at least stop the bleeding.
"I just wish my younger brother was here..." said Yuna frustratedly,
"You have a brother?" asked Daisuke curiously,
"A cousin, you may know him as Naruto-"
She was not allowed to finish her sentence as Daisuke was just staring at her.
"What?" asked Yuna in an annoyed voice,
"You have a younger brother who happens to be Namikaze Naruto?" asked Daisuke in surprise, but she just shrugged nonchalantly.
"Naruto is my first cousin, I'm 3 months older than him. I could surely use his help in retaking our post..." said Yuna honestly,
"Hey, look. It's Captain Iwashi..." pointed Kentaro, and Yuna and Daisuke saw their supreme commander heading straight towards the control station.
The trio were currently hiding on a thin ridge, just beneath the mountain on which the control station was located.
"He's heading straight towards those commandos, we need to warn him..." suggested Kentaro hurriedly,
"But how can we do that, we can't shout or the enemy will become alert and find us easily" argued Yuna, but both of them were surprised when Daisuke took out something from his pocket.
"I always carry a set of flares with me, he will realize something's wrong on seeing this..." said Daisuke smartly, getting smiles from Yuna and Kentaro
"Let's save our captain..."
(With Iwashi)
Iwashi was cautiously walking towards the entrance of the barrier control station. It had been a few weeks since he had been made in-charge of this station, and so far they didn't have to face any problems.
Captain Iwashi
A small chuckle escaped from his lips, it was strange being a leader. When he was in Blacklight, he was just a soldier who happily followed orders given by Naruto...but only now did he understand how tough it was being a leader, as every decision of a ninja squad leader could mean the life and death of his soldiers.
He felt responsible, not that he didn't appreciate it.
As he neared towards the entrance he saw the guards tense a little on seeing the kunai launcher in his hand. Despite leaving Blacklight, he never parted with his old weapon and even requested Minato to allow him to keep his weapon, after developing the "Iron Dome" barrier the Hokage was more than happy to give this small gift to him.
He had been a Blackops all his life, and somehow his senses were telling him something was definitely wrong.
"Oi, Akero...you okay there?" questioned Iwashi, as the guard of the base didn't give a reply.
Iwashi started kneading chakra, and felt a minor disturbance in the guard's chakra which only meant one thing.
Henge
A bright red flare was launched in the sky, and it didn't take him a second to understand its message. Acting on his instincts, he fired his weapon straight into the guard's head and the man exploded into a pool of blood.
"Ambush, fuck" cursed Iwashi, as he suddenly found himself surrounded by 5 strange looking ninja who were wearing the same uniform.
The soldiers didn't hesitate for a second and fired several kunai laced with exploding tags straight towards him, but Iwashi had already performed a set of hand seals.
"Shunshin No jutsu Body Flicker Technique)"
BOOM!
A giant explosion occurred in the place where Iwashi was standing, and after a few moments the smoke slowly started to clear.
The Blood Clones came forward and checked the little blood that was on the ground...
"Seems he got vaporized in the explosion" said one of the blood clone,
"I have scanned the area, there are no more Konoha ninja. This was the last one..." replied another blood clone,
"But what about the one that fired the flare? We still have 3 missing Konoha ninja who fled the control station..." argued the first blood clone,
"Irrelevant, our only objective is to bring down the barrier. Captain is already working on it, those ninja were weak and it would take them 1 or 2 hours to get back to Konoha. The barrier would be down by then, and Madara-sama would have reached Konoha. Now that the enemy are neutralized, I must report back to Captain..." suggested the squad leader Blood Clone, receiving affirmative nods from his comrades.
"Roger, Roger"
Iwashi roughly crashed on the muddy ground of a small ridge just beneath the mountain. He could see the fires from the explosion still burning, so some ninja did manage to break through that barrier...how was it even possible?
And were they actually clones?
If they were, then of what kind? And of whom?
He sensed several footsteps heading towards him and instantly shifted his kunai launcher backwards.
"Freeze!"
Iwashi was relieved a little when he found 3 young kids standing behind him, and judging from their stable chakra and terrified expressions left little doubt about their identity. But still,
"Identify yourselves, and no funny movements" warned Iwashi, and the young ninja raised their hands up in surrender.
"We're the night shift squad, Captain. We just recently got assigned to this barrier..." said Daisuke obediently,
"I'm Kentaro Hatake..."
"Daisuke Kurama..."
"Yuna Namikaze..."
"A Hatake, A Kurama, and a Namikaze. My days keeps getting even more weirder..." thought Iwashi bemusedly,
Iwashi lowered his kunai launcher a little, as the young ninja came near him. And he had a lot of questions for them...
"The name's Iwashi, but you'll call me Captain or sir. Understood?" asked Iwashi seriously, and passed down a few kunai and shuriken to his comrades.
"Yes, Captain" was the unanimous response from the trio
"Where is your squad leader? And what happened to the station guards?" asked Iwashi curiously, and the grim looks on their faces was enough to give him an answer.
"They're dead Captain..." said Kentaro Hatake defeatedly,
"We're all that's left...those commandos hit so fast" replied Daisuke with a little anger in his voice,
"We couldn't protect the post, Captain. We're sorry..." said Yuna sadly, and was intrigued when a small smirk came on Iwashi's lips.
"Looks like I've got a bunch of rookies..." said Iwashi bemusedly,
"Rookies, sir?" questioned Yuna curiously, as Iwashi pointed his finger at her uniform.
"Your uniform is shiny and new, just like you." said Iwashi honestly, and was satisfied when he saw a strange determination in the girl's eyes.
And it reminded him of a certain someone...
"Rookie or not, Captain. We were trained to fight, and want to retake our outpost" said Yuna in a strong, determined voice
And Iwashi could only smile on seeing the same look in the boy's eyes...
"There's hope for you yet, Rookies..."
