Hey guys so here's the first part of ABB. This was meant to be comedic, and I think it is in, in certain places, but not as comedic as I expected it to be. I haven't written the other parts yet, but I'm working on them. I think this will end up being a three-part story cause it's become so complex. Again thanks to pheobegimenez7 for providing me with the inspiration!

Ch. 13-A Brother Brainwashed Pt. 1: Brainwashed

There was the booming sound of a shot and Mikey fell to the ground. Raph stared, his eyes wide. The hothead yelled, beating down every Krang bot that stood in his path to get to his little brother. Michelangelo lay on the ground unmoving. Raph dropped to his knees and gripped the younger turtle's shoulders. "Mikey!" There was no answer. Raphael was growing desperate. "Mikey! Come on! Wake up! Wake up bro!"

Michelangelo's eyes opened. Raph let out a sigh of relief. "You okay, Mikey?"

There was no answer. The red-masked turtle stared confused. "Mikey?" Michelangelo stared at him blankly. Raph called again, this time his voice slightly hesitant "…Mikey?"

Mikey canted his head. Raphael frowned. "C'mon Mikey, what's the matter? Bro?"

"Bro?" The younger turtle repeated.

Raph still had his hands on Mikey's shoulders. "Yeah. You okay bro?"

Mikey put his hands on Raph's shoulders "Broooooo" he said, dragging the 'oh' sound out a lot longer than it should have been.

"Mikey what are you playing at?"

Mikey raised an eye-ridge. He took his hands off Raph's shoulders. His face was still filled with that happy-yet-rather-blank expression that was slowly beginning to creep Raph out. The orange-clad turtle gestured to himself, "Mikey."

Raph raised an eye-ridge. "Yeah, you're Mikey."

"Mikey" said turtle repeated, along with the action. Then he reached out and put his hands on Raph's shoulders. "Brooooooo."

Raph stared, horrified. Mikey doesn't remember who I am. In fact I don't think he remembers anything. The hothead let out a frustrated sigh. Oh man, how am I gonna explain this to the others?

Raph looked up. "Come on Mikey follow me."

"Mikey." He stated.

The red-masked turtle rolled his eyes. "Yeah, yeah, I'm talking to you. Come on." Raph grabbed Mikey's arm and tugged him away rather roughly.

"Umm…Leo?"

Said turtle turned towards Raphael with a stern glare. He knew that tone. Raphael wasn't hesitant unless he'd goofed up…big time. The leader crossed his arms over his plastron. "Alright, what happened?"

Raph rubbed the back of his neck nervously as his brother gave him another glare. "Uh…it's Mikey."

Leo's eyes went wide and his face bent into his typical worried expression. "Mikey?! What happened?"

"Mikey." Came a statement from behind him, and Raph fought the urge to face-palm.

Leonardo peered around Raphael and stared at Michelangelo. "Mikey? Are you okay?"

"Mikey." He stated jovially, a bright smile on his face.

"Michelangelo, say something!" Leonardo ordered.

"Mikey." The youngest repeated.

"That's just about his entire vocabulary, Leo." Raph stated, slightly miffed.

"What?!" Leo exclaimed, shock and disbelief evident in his voice. Then his eyes narrowed. "Raph, what did you do?"

"What did I do?" Raphael parroted, his anger slowly rising. "You think I did it on purpose?"

Leonardo angrily retorted, "No. But I know you had something to do with it!"

Raphael was on fire. "I do not hurt my brothers." He said, clearly enunciating each word.

Dark blue eyes narrowed dangerously, "We both know that's a damn lie, Raphael!" He spat, his tone absolutely venomous and filled with rage.

Raph recoiled violently as though struck.

Their brainwashed little brother watched with growing distress as his brothers fought. He stared with big, sad eyes at Raphael and frowned sternly at Leonardo.

The red-masked brother bit his lip, fighting to hold back the tears. "I can't believe you think that of me." He stated, his voice little more than a whisper. "I can take a hint, Fearless. I know where I'm not wanted." Raph stated, wiping his tears away with the back of his hand. He turned and stormed out of the lair.

Michelangelo watched him go. He was about to go after Raph when a forest green hand shot out and grabbed his shoulder.

"Let him go. Come on, let's get you to Donnie."

Mikey turned to Leo and glared. The eldest was momentarily taken aback, and Mikey took advantage of that fact. They orange-clad turtle lashed out just hard enough to send Leo to the ground.

"Broooo!" Mikey yelled as he tried to get to the door.

Unfortunately for Michelangelo, before he could get out the door, Leonardo had grabbed him from behind and was now steering him towards the Lab.

"DONNIE!" Leo yelled. "I could use some help!"

Don came running out and asked no questions. Instead, he waited until they had gotten Mikey safely strapped down to the lab table.

"What's going on?"

"I don't know. Something happened while he and Raph were out. Raph said something about his name being just about the extent of his vocabulary."

Donatello frowned. "That leaves a lot of unanswered questions. Where's Raph? He'll be instrumental in determining Mikey's condition."

Leo at least had the decency to look ashamed. "Well-uh…"

The brainiac sighed in frustration. "Don't tell me. You had a fight and he stormed out. Great. Good going, Leo. Way to take the family wellbeing into consideration." He said sarcastically, rolling his dark brown eyes in annoyance.

Don paused and glanced down at Mikey, who was still struggling against the straps on the lab table. "I'll do a detailed scan." The genius powered up his machines. He took some readings and began examining them. "Hm." His eyes almost bugged out of his head. "Oh my gosh!"

Leo jumped to his feet from where he had been leaning against Don's desk. "What is it?"

The purple-masked turtle was sputtering in shock. "These readings indicate that he has the mind of a child!"

Leonardo's mouth formed a straight line and he raised an eye-ridge. "And?" The tone was rather a blank statement of: and this is new, how?

Donatello rolled his eyes, "I mean, like, the brain of a developing child. It appears he doesn't remember anything. He's been completely brainwashed!"

Dark blues eyes widened in surprise. "Well, what do we do?"

"I don't know, Leo." He paused in a thinking position. "I have absolutely no idea. If I knew exactly what happened, though, I might have some better ideas."

"Brooooooo!" Mikey yelled, growing desperate.

Donnie frowned, "First thing's first. We gotta calm Mikey down. What is he yelling for?"

"I don't know. He's been yelling 'bro' ever since Raph left."

The brainiac nodded. "Then he must be calling for Raph."

Leo looked at him. "So what do we do?"

"We release him and we all go to find Raph."

The leader frowned. "Are you sure it's safe to take him out in this condition?"

Donatello's bottom lip pushed out in a thoughtful expression. "No." he said pointedly. "But what choice do we have?"

Leo's eyes betrayed how worried he was, but he nodded affirmative. They really had no choice.

They had been searching for Raphael for at least two hours. By now, both of the older turtles were hoping they'd find him soon. Keeping Michelangelo in their sights at all times was proving incredibly difficult. More difficult than usual. In this brainwashed state, he was curious about everything. He kept wandering down alleys and around street corners whenever they turned their heads. By now they were thoroughly exhausted.

The nearby sound of clashing blades made Donatello and Leonardo exchange knowing glances. If there was a battle, they were prepared to bet money that Raphael was right dead center of it.

And they would be right.

Raphael was currently battling it out with a small army of Foot robots. Nothing he couldn't handle, though he had already been through a tough fight with the Krang earlier. Yeah. And Mikey got hurt. That thought distracted him, and he missed a Foot with a katana that was coming up from the side.

The red-masked turtle let out a cry of pain as the blade cut through his shell and into his side. Sure, the cut was shallow, but damn, it hurt. The pained yowl was followed by a yell of indignation as he charged the Foot bot and finished it off.

When he turned back to the battle, he saw Donnie and Leo finishing off what was left of the Foot bots. He breathed a sigh of relief.

Until he realized Mikey was with them. Shit.

Raphael jumped into the fray and defended Michelangelo with all of his might.

A few minutes later the last of the robots fell to the ground with a satisfying clang.

Followed by a thud.

"Broooooooo!" Mikey rushed over to Raph's side, his eyes wide, filled with worry and desperation.

Leo turned to Donatello, "Why does he think only Raphael is his brother?"

Donatello shrugged, "I assume it's because of the lack of other familial persona present when his mind was erased. He's latched onto Raph as a maternal figure, a role model. And he'll probably follow Raph around as long as he's in this state."

Leo raised an eye-ridge. "So what you're saying is that because Raph was the only one actually there when Mikey was brainwashed, Michelangelo has instinctively latched onto Raphael as his only kin, and he's going to follow Raph around like a duckling from now on?"

Don's lips pressed into a thin line of contemplation, "Pretty much, Yeah."

"So what do we do?" The leader asked, his dark blue eyes flashing inquisitively.

"First, we get Mikey off of Raph, so that I can take a look at his injuries. It looks like he's out cold."

Again, Leonardo bowed his head with guilt. He was worried, even though he didn't really show it.

The eldest literally had to pry Michelangelo away from their injured brother just so Donnie could have a look at him. Thankfully, the injuries weren't life threatening. That took a weight off Leo's chest.

Raphael was slowly returning to consciousness. "D-Donnie?"

"Hey buddy." Don replied gently, trying to avoid getting Raph too excited.

With no warning the hothead shot upward in a panic. "Don, what about Mikey?! Where's Mikey?" Donatello struggled to hold his injured brother down before he hurt himself further.

Leonardo released their brainwashed younger brother, confident that he would no longer interfere with Don's care of Raph.

"Mikey." He stated as he made his way over to Raphael's side, as though reassuring his brother of his presence. He put his hands on Raph's shoulders "Broooooo?" The tone was light, but big, blue eyes shone with worry and inquiry.

Raph rolled his eyes and smiled. "I'll be fine."

Michelangelo seemed pleased with that.

Donatello was about to bandage a rather bad cut on Raph's arm when he found himself being pushed backwards and away from his patient. His eyes narrowed.

Mikey was now standing between him and Raphael.

If there was one thing each of the turtle brothers knew from experience, it was that Doctor Donatello did not take kindly to anyone interfering with his work.

Mikey readied his nunchucks as though he was preparing to defend Raph.

Before things got out of hand, Raph sat up with a pained grunt. The wound in his side hurt, but he wasn't about to let Mikey do something he would regret when he returned to his normal Mikey self. "No, Mikey, it's okay. It's okay! They're our brothers!" He said, trying to placate the younger turtle.

Raph called him back, and Mikey returned to the injured turtle's side. Raph motioned for Don to come closer slowly.

The brainiac did as his immediate older brother requested. Then he knelt by Raph's side cautiously. Raphael reached out and put hand on Don's upper plastron. "Brothers." Raph repeated.

Michelangelo stared evenly at Donnie for a moment, before he turned towards Leonardo with a frown on his face. He was obviously not pleased with Leo for arguing with Raphael.

Raph chuckled. "Better watch out bro. Looks like he's on my side."

Leo was a little miffed by that comment, but he knew that what he'd said earlier had hurt Raph more than the emerald green turtle let on. So he took the comment without complaint. If anything, he deserved it. When Raph signaled him to approach, Leo did so, slowly and cautiously. Mikey was angry enough as it is.

Raph, in turn, put his other hand on Leo's plastron and repeated, "Brothers."

Mikey glanced, incredulously from Raphael, to Donatello, to Leonardo. Finally he nodded slowly.

He patted his plastron and said, "Mikey." Then he placed a hand on both Leo and Don's plastrons and stated, "Brothers." Finally he looked down at Raphael, put his hands on muscular shoulders and said, "Broooooooo."

Raph rolled his eyes and smiled. "Yeah, you got it, little brother."

When they returned to the Lair, Master Splinter was out in the main room waiting for them. Michelangelo bounded over to him and began staring, with extreme and utter fascination at the old rat-mutant's white whiskers. Splinter raised an inquiring brow, but before he could do anything, Mikey had reached out and begun pulling on the long, coarse fibers. Splinter stood, enduring it with a patience that astounded the turtles. All three of them flinched when he said, eerily quietly, "What, may I ask, has happened to your brother?"

Raphael and Leonardo explained hastily, while Donatello added supplementary evidence from his scans.

When they had finished, the old rat raised an eyebrow. "The four of you must find a way to restore Michelangelo to his normal state." Master Splinter paused and then added angrily, "Because this is NOT ACCEPTABLE!" All the turtles quivered in fear. At least, all except Brainwashed Mikey, who had absolutely no idea what was going on, remaining totally oblivious as he toyed with the bouncy whiskers on his father's face.

Finally, Sensei had had enough. He pushed Mikey away and said frustratedly, "Michelangelo!" Thumping his tail on the ground in frustration.

Mikey was terrified. He leapt back, not fully understanding why the rodent-creature was yelling at him. The brainwashed brother bounded over to Raphael, and hid behind him.

Raph turned to him with a soft, understanding smile. Leo and Donnie stared. Smiles were a rare thing for Raphael. Raph didn't often smile when there wasn't a reason to.

"It's okay, Mikey. Sensei's not gonna hurt you." Raphael walked over to Splinter, and put a hand on his shoulder. "He's our Father." Raph repeated, "Father."

Sensei watched as Michelangelo slowly moved back over to him. The youngest glanced at Raph with uncertainty in his eyes. Then he turned back to the rat. Mikey took a few steps forward, so that he was directly in front of Master Splinter, then he looked up into the old rat's eyes. "Father." He mimicked.

Then he pointed to himself. "Mikey." He put a hand on his plastron and then moved it outward to gesture towards Donnie and Leo, "Brothers." And of course, he turned to Raph, put both hands on the hothead's shoulders and said, "Broooooo."

Master Splinter raised an eye-ridge. "Raphael, why does he address you differently from your brothers?"

The red-masked turtle rubbed the back of his neck. "Trust me, Sensei, it's a long story."

It was then that Splinter realized Raphael was standing differently. His posture was stiff, and drained. The rat's eyes rested on the bandages on Raph's arms. "You are injured?"

The green–eyed turtle looked surprised. He stared down at his injuries. Huh. Somewhere in all the commotion he'd completely forgotten about them. He looked back up at his father. "It's no big deal." He waved Splinter's concern away with one hand, but the rat was still unsure.

Then, the perceptive brown eyes landed on the second-oldest turtle's side. Sensei frowned.

"Raphael, I wish to speak to you alone for a moment."

Raph looked up into his father's eyes nervously, but silently nodded his agreement.

Review please!

P.S. I am also currently working on a chapter entitled 'Feeling Rueful.' I'm sure you can already tell what collection it belongs to.

Next up in the 'Feeling Unloved' series, we go in depth and see Raphael's state through the eyes of a fatherly rat, who fears he will lose yet another child. Question is: Is he strong enough to suffer yet another loss? Or will the mere prospect tear him apart at the seams?

(And that's just one of the new chapters I have planned! *Waggles eyebrows mischievously*)

So stay tuned!
