"Talks like summer and walks like rain

Reminds me that there's time to change ooooo." Okay, maybe it'll stop.

"Tell me, did the wind sweep you off your feet?

Did you finally get a chance to dance across the milkway

Head back to outer space" Hopefully.

"Told a story bout a man who was too afraid to fly so he never did land." Alright, that's the third time he's sung that stupid verse. Annabeth decided she needed to put an end to this, so she got out of her bed where she had previously been sleeping very soundly, pulled on some proper clothes, and grabbed her hotel key, phone, and wallet. She stormed out of her room, her fierce gray eyes drooping due to sleep deprivation, and got into an elevator. She had no idea what floor this dickhead was on, so she pressed the '2' button. Surprisingly, he was there, 7 doors away from the elevator, right next to the ice machine. She stormed up to him and slammed a hand down onto his guitar strings, silencing the music.

The boy had messy deep black hair, sea-green eye, and a goofy smile that made her want to kick him into next month. He was wearing a red hoodie, gray sweatpants, and black sandals (with socks- it was hideous). Compared to Annabeth's white hoodie, grey basketball shorts and pink flip-flops, he was overdressed, for 3 A.M. He was sitting cross legged on the floor, smiling up at Annabeth, who was angrily glaring down at him. "Hi," he said.

She glared at him.

"My name is Percy, and I'd appreciate you letting go of my guitar." Percy tried to tug the guitar away from Annabeth, but all attempts failed. This girl was a strong one, and she knew it. "Please- let- go." he managed in between struggles to pull away from Annabeth. He finally stopped, realizing he was getting nowhere. "Alright, let's start over." He dropped his guitar, and so Annabeth, causing him to wince. "Hi, I'm Percy. I'm 18 years old, 19 in about a month. I like music, and water. I love water, I'm actually a lifeguard. I come from downtown New York, and you, miss, look hauntingly familiar." He grinned. "Your turn."

"I see no reason why we need to introduce ourselves at 3 A.M." Annabeth told him. "I simply came down to tell you to shut the hell up." Percy made a puppy dog face, which probably worked on most people, but not on her. She figured she might as well give this stranger her lifestory at 3 A.M. After all, she wasn't going back to sleep. "Fine." She moaned. "My name is Annabeth. I'm from Los Angles, I'm 19 as of about 4 days ago. I like books. I like architecture. I'm almost done with school in New York actually, NYU has a great architecture program. And you look familar because we both attended a summer camp when we were twelve. Remember when you fell down that hill and didn't wake up for a week? Yeah, me too."

"Annabeth!" He grinned. "Miss Annabeth Chase. You hail from the owl cabin at Camp Half-Lake. Thanks to you, I always keep my sleep drool under control. I had a huge crush on you, too. Ah, memories. By the way, happy birthday."

"Nice to know." She commented. "Percy... Percy Jackson, a.k.a seaweed brain. Seaweed cabin at camp, and you were quite crushable yourself. And, thank you." Percy ripped the tag off his hoodie and pulled out a pen. He scribbled something on it and handed it to her. "347-876... your number." Annabeth read. She ripped the tag in half and wrote down her number for him. "It's late, we should probably go to sleep. When are you leaving?"

"Ah, not until next week. You?" He replied.

"Same here. We should get dinner tomorrow. I'll text you." And with that, Annabeth walked down the hallway back to the elevator, retracing her steps from a few minutes ago. She pulled out her key as she approached her room and scrambled back into bed, accompanied by a deep sigh. She drifted to sleep soon.

Neither one contacted each other for a few days, only one seeing another and waving, too shy to go up to the other who didn't notice them. A few times, Annabeth saw Percy with a red headed girl, arms linked, kissing, hugging, all that couple stuff. Finally, the night before they were both supposed to leave, they talked.

Percy: hi

Annabeth: hey

Percy: so i guess you werent up for dinner? :/

Annabeth: I forgot. sorry

Percy: k

Annabeth left it at that for about an hour. Then, she replied:

Annabeth: uh, what was with that red-head?

Percy: oh, that was rachel. she was my girlfriend but then she broke up with me this mornin becaus she joined some club...

Annabeth: oh. sorry

Percy: nah. its fine

Annabeth: so

Percy: so

Annabeth: so uh, you said, you had a crush on me?

Percy: oh, uh, yeah. so did you?

Annabeth: yup. did it ever... go away?

Percy: not really. yours?

Annabeth: nope

Percy: food court, 10 mins?

Annabeth: I'll be there

So Annabeth threw her messy, curly blonde hair into a ponytail, put on a pale yellow shirt and white khakis. She grabbed her bag and waited 7 minutes, then made her way to the food court, where Percy was already waiting. He had on a black polo and khaki shorts. Neither looked very fancy, but it didn't really matter, as they were meeting in a crappy hotel food court. "So," he said. "I guess this is our first date?"

"Date?" She asked. "I mean, um-"

"Fuck. I shouldn't have said that, sorry." He blurted.

"No, no, it's fine. Yeah, first date..." Annabeth looked around. "Let's go out to the pool."

"Good idea." They walked out the pool, where they had a great time, then proceeded to go out for an actual, semi-fancy dinner. They went back to the pool side, and talked until the pool closed at 2 A.M. when they were kicked out. On the way back up, the question "Your room or mine?" was asked, and they woke up the next morning in a daze. "Did we...?"

"We did." Annabeth said. She looked around. This sure as hell wasn't her room, so they must've been in Percy's.

"What now?" Percy asked. "We go home today."

"You live in Manhattan, right?"

"Yeah."

"So do I. And I've been looking for a roommate to help with rent."

Percy laughed. "Did you know a middle school crush could be so much fun?"

"No."
