So this chapter is just a filler for the moment. I'm still working on that other chapter, it's very complicated and emotional. But in the meantime, this a bunch of little snippets of things I came up with. Inspired by some of my favorite 'phrases' and idiomatic expressions. I hope you enjoy! They were really just pure fun on my part.

No one's POV-Beware

Raphael frowned. If he had learned anything over the seventeen years he'd spent growing up with three brothers it was: Beware of turtles bearing gifts. And be especially wary when the gift-bearing individual just happens to be one of the smartest scientific minds on the planet.

Don's POV-Brevity

I'm not exactly sure that Shakespeare was completely accurate when he coined brevity as the soul of wit. Because if he was, that would make Raphael the wittiest person on the planet, and that's just…no.

Don's POV-The fat lady

Raphael is…strange, for lack of a better term. His notion of humor, as well as his reactions to danger can both be considered to be seriously twisted. In fact, when faced with danger Raphael was strangely calm…well calm or angry. And the things he said in times of danger were also… strange, or at the very least quite unexpected. I particularly remember once when we were engaged in a battle with Rahzar, Fishface and Tigerclaw. Leo wanted to retreat. Raph glanced at Leo, then turned back in the direction of our adversaries and muttered, "It ain't over till the fat lady sings," before proceeding to jump straight back into the fray.

No one's POV-Leo's plan

"I say we strike while the iron's hot!"

"Cool off, Raph. Failing to plan is planning to fail." Leo retorted neatly.

Raphael rolled his eyes and huffed before storming off to brood in a corner.

Mikey's POV-Jack of all trades (master of none)

We stared, completely astounded as our hotheaded brother finished his kata. I slowly began to suspect that I was not the only one who didn't know Raph was able to use that kind of weapon. Leo was the first to speak, "H-how?"

Raph smirked, "Guess I'm just a Jack of all trades."

Donatello rolled his eyes and muttered, "And master of none."

No one's POV-Thick as thieves

Donnie watched as Raphael and Casey Jones exchanged greetings before proceeding to tackle each other to the ground and start wrestling. He rolled his eyes and turned to the others, "They're thick as thieves those two."

Mikey's eyes were wide. "What did they steal? And they may be muscular, but they're not thick."

Don sighed. "It's a figure of speech, Mikey."

Mikey clapped the smart turtle on the shoulder. "I know, bro. I was just kidding. Did you know that assignation is the thief of time?"

"It's procrastination, Airhead!"

Donnie's POV-Safe pair of hands

I frowned as I stitched up my immediate older brother's arm. I tied it off none too gently, feeling a tinge of satisfaction as Raphael flinched and grimaced in pain. Still, he remained silent. Biting the bullet, no doubt. I think he could feel the anger in the air between us. He knew I was royally pissed off. I was sick and tired of having to patch Raphael up. "Raphael, I know you have your reasons for acting the way you do, but I am done being your safe pair of hands! If you get injured for any reason this stupid again, I will leave you to deal with your injuries yourself."

Raph said nothing. Because this time, both of us knew I meant it.

No one's POV-Playing with fire

Donatello moved over towards Leo and whispered, "Better turn the tides of this thing fast, Leo. If we don't Raph will probably cut off his nose to spite his face."

Raphael glared, "Shut up, Donnie, I would not."

Don rolled his eyes. "You have no idea what…"

"I know exactly what it means Donatello! I'm not as stupid as you think I am."

Don scoffed as he destroyed a couple of Foot bots with his bo before yelling over his shoulder, "Oh yeah? And here I thought you were as thick as two short planks!"

"WHY YOU LITTLE…" Raphael's fiery green eyes flared and he turned towards his smart brother with a glare. When he spoke again, his voice was low and rough, "I got a bunch of fives here with your name on it Donatello. You sure you really wanna play with fire?"

Leo's POV-Chalk and Cheese

I've never really understood the relationship between Raphael and Michelangelo. They're as different as chalk and cheese, and yet they're so close. But then…as I watch the way they interact, the way Raph smiles easily in Mikey's presence, I realize that when all the walls that surround the hothead fall all that's left is a spirit very much akin to Michelangelo's. I don't have many memories of Raph before he really began to become 'Raph', but the ones I do have…

I recall how he used to lay up against me while I read stories to him. I remember how the four of us used to cuddle up next to each other after training and take a nap, and how Raphael always used to lay his head on my shoulder. I remember how he used to laugh so openly and so freely, I smiled as I recollected rather faded memories of me chasing a young red-masked turtle down the halls of the lair laughing in much the same manner. I recall the big, innocent green eyes, and the sound of little shuffling feet following me wherever I went asking me millions of questions I didn't know the answer to.

My resolve strengthened, I approached Mikey and Raph. I didn't miss the slightly guarded look in that bright green gaze as I did so. Gently I reached out, put a hand on Raph's shoulder and smiled openly. Raph relaxed and the guarded expression evaporated. We were both smiling now. The same way we had back then, with no walls to hold us back.

No one's POV-Through a hedge…backwards

Raphael frowned at his human friend and shook his head. "Dude, you look like you been dragged through a hedge backwards."

Casey just stared at the turtle blankly, "The hell is that supposed to mean?"

Raph rolled his eyes and chuckled as he pressed a comb into the human's hand. "It's called a comb. Humans invented it so that they could improve themselves. Not that it'll really do you much good, but it doesn't hurt to try."

Jones rolled his eyes, "Haha, very funny."

So now I'd like to hear from you. Which of these (if any) did you like the best? What's your favorite?
