Ronald Weasley scowled as he watched Hermione and Krum share a final goodbye. He had to admit, he didn't exactly admire the international Quidditch player as much as he had once before. In fact Ron was half-aware that he was jealous, but he never planned on admitting it.
He leaned against the wall of the courtyard, his attention momentarily shifting to Harry and then to his various siblings saying goodbye to the friends they had made this year. Of course, Ron wasn't particularly interested in what they were doing and so he turned back to Krum and Hermione. They seemed to be sharing one of many final hugs before Hermione nodded once with a small smile and then walked away to talk to someone else.
She clearly had not spotted her red/headed friend watching from afar.
Krum had though.
He quickly approached Ron and he actually seemed a little nervous.
"Can ve have a vord? Just over there," Krum asked, jabbing his thumb round a corner to their left.
Ron shrugged, "Whatever."
The two boys walked around the corner, out of sight of the courtyard full to the brim with students and into a far more secluded area. Krum seemed to struggle with his words then, but it also seemed to Ron like he was trying harder to get them correct.
"I want to - er - apologise. I should have been clear that my interests vere in you not Herm-ninny. She said I should tell you that she and I vere not - um - courting," Krum explained.
Ron felt a blush spread from eat to ear. He spluttered, "Your interests were in me?!"
"Vell, yes," he replied.
"Erm, blimey," Ron muttered, not knowing what to do or say.
Krum produced a slip of parchment from his pocket and pressed it into Ron's palm.
"I want you, us," he stuttered in a gruff voice and rubbed the back of his neck, "Ve should stay in touch."
Before Ron could even react. Krum firmly planted a kiss on his cheek before grabbing Ron's hand to shake. Ron being in shock, just stared as Viktor Krum shook his hand.
"Goodbye, Ronald," he said proudly before he left Ron standing alone, frozen, and staring after him.
If there had ever been any confusion about how Ron felt about Viktor Krum, it was now at it's maximum. As one of the bizarrest situations he had been in, Ron stood for a while before he rejoined Harry and Hermione to wave goodbye to the Beauxbatons and Durmstrang students.
He wasn't sure at all how he felt about what had just happened, but he smiled with his friends and left the parchment Krum had handed him folded up in the pocket of his trousers.
Ron didn't know whether he would ever contact Krum, but for now that could be put to the back of his mind and he could concentrate on just getting back home and not forgetting to pack something.
Krum could be thought about later.
