wow, I just realized that I haven't updated this story in forever! Yikes!I know this is short, but I didn't want to cram a bunch of plot points in one chapter.

The weeks passed. I guess I had subconsciously decided to keep the baby, even though I wasn't sure what I would do with it after it was born. Maybe I would suddenly get this magical maternal connection as soon as I saw it. Or maybe I'd just let Rosalie raise it.

Seth was by my side everyday, keeping me updated on everything that was happening on the outside world. Apparently he had also been keeping Leah updated on how I was doing, also. Leah planned to come back In a week or so.

"Do you have any names picked out?" Alice asked as we flipped through magazines.

"No," I scoffed. "Why would I?"

"Well, that's what most women do when they have a baby." She shrugged.

"Right." I said slowly.

"Has the baby been moving lately?" Rosalie asked.

"No, thank God." I replied as I laid back onto the pillows. I let out a sigh.

"Sydney, are you okay?" Bella asked. "Are you in pain?"

"No, no, it's no big deal." I smiled. "But I think my water just broke."

"Oh my God! Carlisle, Esme!" Rosalie called.

They were in the room within seconds.

"And the first contraction!" I groaned.

The room was cleared as my dad got me hooked up to an IV and tracked my vitals.

"I think something's wrong." He muttered.

"What do you mean? I asked.

"Well, normally, the fetus will tear it's way through the amniotic sac and through the skin." He said calmly.

"Well, I for one am very happy it's decided not to do that."

"Sydney!" I heard Seth call as he ran up the stairs to my room. "Are you alright? I heard that something happened."

"It's begun." I told him simply. Another contraction came and I grabbed my father's hand, trying not to think about the pain.

"Wow, I think I almost felt that." He chuckled.

I sighed in relief when it was over.

Eventually everyone had their turn at having their hands squeezed.

"How're you doing, baby?" My mom asked as she sat by me.

By this time I was exhausted and sweaty. I breathed heavily through yet another contraction.

"I don't know if I can do this." I breathed.

"You just have a little bit more to go." She said, rubbing my back. "You're almost there."

And it wasn't long before it really was time.

I didn't think I could do it. Mom was there to hold my hand through the whole thing.

"I see the head." My dad announced.

After pushing more, I felt the baby being pulled out but didn't here anything. I could feel myself slipping out of conciousness...

I opened my eyes slowly opened and the room was dark. My mom was sitting next to me.

"Hey," She whispered gently.

"Hey," I replied, my voice raspy. "Where's the baby? What is it?"

"Honey," She sighed. "The baby didn't make it. He was stillborn."

He. It was a boy.

"Oh," I choked out. I didn't know why I was upset, I should have been relieved right?

Tears began to fall and my mother held me close.
