"Wow, Harry," I surveyed all the gear he was carrying. "Paranoid much?"
He grinned. "It's not paranoia if they're really out to get you. Considering my enemies, I might not be being paranoid enough."
"Point. Hell, even considering your allies."
I only caught a few of the emotions that crossed his face, ones that made no sense. Surprise, realization, sadness.
Then he snorted. "Should I keep an eye on you, then?"
He didn't know I'd seen it. I made myself laugh.
As we bantered, I filed away his reaction to think about later.
Something was up.
