Friday, July 11: Day 2 in Tokyo
Paige's POV
It's Miz's turn to pick where to go in Tokyo. This morning, we're at a high-fashion boutique. He wants a new pair of designer shoes that you wouldn't be able to get back in the US. This place is fancy. Red leather seats are right in the center where book shelves display the newest styles on each wall. I sit on it and wait for the associate to come back with a pair that he asked for. One of the WWE crew places himself at the end from me.
"What do you think, eh?" Miz asks from the other chair. He looks so suave with his sunglasses on.
"It's cool. But I think you wearing sunglasses indoors is even cooler."
That gets him to smile, "I'm just blinded by your white skin."
"Dick!" I laugh with him.
He crosses an ankle over his knee and I notice he's wearing polka-dotted socks, "Nice socks, babe."
"What? They're my favorite pair!" A Japanese woman makes her way from behind me and shows Miz the shoes. He stands to tries them on, favorite pair of socks and all. I can't help but find him so incredibly cute. I just want to pinch his big wittle cheeks.
WWE Live – Tokyo, Japan; Ryogoku Kokugikan
(Post show)
Second live event in the history books. The fans voted for a dance-off which quickly turned into a match after Alicia attacked me from behind. I couldn't avoid busting a move so I dropped down for a little booty pop which I learned from the Funkadactyls. It felt so weird but it was in good fun.
In the back, we're already dressed in normal clothes. Miz and I make conversation with Dolph and Big E while we wait for the stadium to file out.
In the corner of my eye, Foxy comes over with a bag in hand. "Hey girly!"
"Hey Alicia, what's up?"
"What do you say we hit up the best karaoke bar tonight, just you and me?"
"Um..." I look back to Miz. It sounds pretty fun. Karaoke in the country that invented it. But being with him sounds fun too.
"No babe, go right ahead. Girls night out, right?" He rubs my upper back.
"Okay. It's a date, Foxy!"
She smiles wide, "Awesome! It'll be great."
"I'll just hang with these boys tonight. Dolph, E, what do you say we hit Ribera?" The guys agree. Looks like we all have plans for the last night in Tokyo before heading to Osaka, Japan.
(Still Paige's POV)
We enter the small club where there's a spotlighted stage. Sitting in a booth-style seat, I survey everything. A man takes the microphone and requests to sing Don't Stop Believing by Journey. The atmosphere in here is so upbeat and loose. Alicia is placed to my right, singing along and eager to get up on stage herself.
"So Paige, how are you and Miz?" She suddenly turns to me.
"Uh, good. It's been a ride but I'm enjoying it."
"I wanted to tell you this from the start. Between you and me, Miz is one of those guys that doesn't love so easily."
"Yeah? I find that hard to believe."
"Exactly. So when I saw you two had a thing, I knew he fell hard. Years ago, he would hang out with a bunch of the Divas, you know, before Maryse, but never did anything."
My curiosity in their first meeting sparks. That probably took place around 2007 or 2008, back when I was still in high school. Woah. "How were they? I mean, Miz and Maryse?" Out of respect, I leave my question vague.
"She didn't see that much from him at first. But Maryse always played hard to get. Miz was like the annoying kid that wouldn't leave her alone. It was pretty funny."
"Really?" I could see Maryse as the one to lead the chase, closing all the doors in his face before Miz got inside her head.
"Yeah. But you girl, you got swept didn't you?"
"I mean, I've always found him attractive but I knew he was married so..."
"Obviously he saw something in you to make him forget that."
A quick glance at the fourth finger on my left hand flashes images of the night I had to watch Maryse storm out of their shared home, but not without leaving a slap to my face. "Ruining a marriage was the last thing I wanted to do—"
"No, I know. He was the one that went up to you right? That means Miz does truly love you."
I smile so wide hearing Alicia's words. After all, she was there when Maryse was in the WWE as well as being around for Miz's relationship with her. For her to say he loves me so easily is something to be proud of. Like I've said before, I've never doubted him for a second. It's good to know there aren't any skeletons in his closet... For the rest of the time at the bar, we hit the stage to sing a few songs. Having a good time is exactly what I came for.
Miz's POV
Dolph, Big E, and I finish off the last round of steaks before sitting back to relax. Ribera Steakhouse is a hot spot for professional wrestlers—like a right of passage to eat there. I've been here a few times with Chris Jericho in the past. With these guys, it feels just as good to share the experience.
"Hey Miz," Dolph says, picking his teeth with a toothpick, "how's your girl doing?"
"Oh yeah, you're with Paige now, aren't you?" E asks right after.
"She's great, really liking this Japan tour."
"So I'm guessing she's one of those rare ones, eh?" Dolph knows me more than anybody in the locker room. Big E raises an eyebrow. He means that she's one of the very few girls that have gotten my attention, and kept it. Maryse was one—was.
"Yeah man, one in a million..."
"Makes it easier when you're both on the road, at each show, you know. Keeping a relationship at home sucks because you're never there anyway." Big E mentions, setting down his table napkin on a plate.
"You're absolutely right. Two or three days in a month isn't enough time." I'm reminded of John Cena and his wife, their story and divorce. Randy Orton also had the same fallout with the mother of his kid. Was it bound to happen to me from the start?
"Shit happens that you can't take back. Miz, you love Paige now. She loves you. Don't mess this up if she's the real one."
Ziggler's words pierce through me like a dart. That begs the question, is Paige the real one? It's honestly too early to tell, but I love her so much. Everything she does and every little thing she reveals about herself can only make me glad that I know her well enough to be comfortable whenever we're together. Where else can you find that?
I remember how I acted like such a dog to get Maryse to take a second look at me. It took so much effort for her to feel the same for me as I did. Whatever happened to serendipity? Finding love when you're not even looking? With Paige, that's definitely the case. I wasn't looking for love when I introduced myself to her, it was just...there. Like Cupid shot me right in the ass when I shook her hand. Serendipity...I found my answer.
Back at the hotel...
(Still Miz's POV)
Paige still hasn't returned from her girls night out. I'm already in sleep wear, and it's just past 1am. Where is this girl? I almost forgot who she's with—Alicia has always been known to get crazy whenever the opportunity presents itself, can't say I'm surprised.
There's a knock at the door, "Babe, open please!" A muffled English accent booms through. I get up and swing it open. Paige's eyes open wide before her face softens into a grin. I feel a pair of arms go around my shoulders and her body collapse into my chest. She's been drinking.
Her legs pick up as soon as we're both inside the room. She won't stop giggling. "I had soooo much fun at the karaoke bar!" Then she slumps over the bed with her knees still on the floor. I laugh, drunk Paige and jetlag Paige are almost the same—drunk Paige is just less cranky.
"Yeah, what'd you guys do?" I return to sitting on my side of the bed.
"Sing...DUH!" I hear this maniacal laugh leave her body.
And I thought jetlag Paige was funny, this is even better, "Sing me a little something. Go ahead!"
She starts humming then belts into this strange rendition of I Will Always Love You by Whitney Houston. Her arms wave in every direction in each word. I crack up at her inebriated self, I'm sure she won't remember any of this in the morning.
"I will always love you, Miz!" She says before sliding down to the floor.
"Thanks. And I'll always love you and your white ass."
"Hey! You know you can't get enough of this white ass!"
"No you're right," I go over to help her stand up, then give her backside the good ole smack n' grab, "this white ass should get some sleep."
"Mm, okay," Her lips are right in front of mine, smelling like the last shot she took. I push her body down on the mattress, then shove her to the left side. I jump in place and turn off the lamp.
"Goodnight!"
"Wait babe, I'm not ready!"
"Too late, I'm already asleep!" I turn away from her.
"MIZ!"
I mock a snoring noise and wait for her to just knockout. A few minutes of silence and wriggling around, I hear loud steady breaths behind me. Man, I love this crazy girl...
This chapter was fun to write, I bet Paige gets insane when she's drunk lol Please review!
