Newly-appointed Imperial Head of State Kurlen Flennic, now leader of the Moff Council in the wake of Gilad Pellaeon's death, looked up from his subordinate Moffs at the young lieutenant who had entered the Council Chamber.
"Head of State Flennic," the lieutenant said, "I'm sorry for interrupting your latest meeting, but you will want to hear this."
The young man held up a recorder in his hand, walked over to the Council meeting table, placed the recorder on the tabletop, and activated it. From it, the voices of Luke Skywalker and Cal Omas came on, and the interest of Flennic and all the other Moffs was piqued when Omas allowed Skywalker to send the Jedi Order to Korriban to investigate a Sith presence that may have Jacen Solo there.
When the recording was over, the lieutenant snatched up the recorder, placed it in his pocket, and walked out of the room as he should; he trusted in his leaders to make the right decision.
"Well, what say all of you?" Flennic asked. "Shall we help the Jedi and the Galactic Alliance neutralize our late leader's murderer?"
"Aye," came the unified answer from the entire Council.
"Then we begin moving out immediately," Flennic concluded. He pressed a button on the console before him that gave a resounding bang! throughout the room. "Meeting adjourned."
He then stood up and began walking out of the room with the other Moffs as he took out his personal commlink and keyed it to Admiral Grejana's frequency.
"Yes, Head of State Flennic?"
"Admiral Grejana," Flennic said to the voice at the other end of the comm, "how soon can you prepare a fleet for a planetary invasion?"
"A mere two hours," Grejana answered. "May I ask why, Head of State Flennic?"
"You may ask," Flennic replied before abruptly signing off.
.
"If you think this is a trap, Jacen," Tahiri said, "then shouldn't I just call your uncle and let him know to expect one?"
Jacen shook his head. "If we do, he'll make preparations that the Sith's spies will be able to inform their Masters and render whatever preparations can be made useless."
"But we have to do something!" Tekli argued. "If Garis did teach these Sith such techniques like White Current illusions and the Aing-Tii teleportation method, then as soon as the Jedi and GA fleet jump into the Korriban system (and that's assuming Master Skywalker can convince Chief Omas to do this), the Sith can very well use the teleportation to send Jedi and Alliance personnel into vacuum! And whoever they don't do that to, they can just have them go through White Current illusions that will make them kill each other!"
"Which is why we're going to go to Korriban first," Jacen said.
Tahiri and Tekli looked at him in incredulity. "What?" they asked simultaneously.
"But not before we get Nelani to help us," Jacen added. "Since she's the only other person who knows all the things I know, if to a lesser degree anyway, we have a better chance of countering whatever the Sith have in store for us."
"You mean going from having a bad chance to a slightly less bad chance?" Tekli asked.
"We need all the help we can get," Jacen reminded the Chadra-Fan. "Now if you'll excuse me, I have to contact Nelani through our Force-bond." He then shut his eyes and fell into concentration as he reached out for Nelani.
He felt her, felt her preparing to depart Denon for Korriban with the Jedi StealthX fleet that was assembled. In less than a few seconds, she felt him reaching out for her, and they established a more cohesive form of communication.
Come to us, Jacen communed. Focus on me, and make yourself appear.
Nelani understood; she had to use the Aing-Tii teleportation method to come to him, and she had to focus incredibly hard to simply appear at his side just like that. But Jacen helped her reinforce her concentration and power, and in less than a quarter of a minute, she was gone from Denon.
And she next appeared in the cockpit of the Solo Quest with Jacen, Tahiri, and Tekli before collapsing to her back unconscious. The three other Jedi's eyes widened when they saw blood leaking from Nelani's nose.
Wordlessly, Tekli hefted the unconscious Jedi with the Force and rushed over to the Quest's medbay.
.
Less than an hour later, Nelani woke up from the medbay bed that Tekli had placed her on, and found the expectant stares of the Chadra-Fan, Jacen, and Tahiri.
"I'm sorry you had to go through that, Nelani," Jacen said, "but we needed you here with us."
"Luckily for you," Tekli said, "Jacen managed to use his ability to manipulate molecules in himself to repair the internal damage that transporting yourself across the galaxy like that could do to yourself. You can stand up if you want."
Nelani hopped off the bed and asked her former Master, "What do you need my help for?"
Jacen gave her a brief recap of what he, Tahiri, and Tekli have all discussed with their theory of the Sith leading the Jedi and the GA forces coming for Korriban into a trap.
"With your training," Jacen said, "we have a better chance of countering whatever the Sith have lying in wait for us and the others."
"So what's the plan?" Nelani asked.
"Master Skywalker just contacted me, before you woke up, that Chief Omas approved of the plan," Tahiri said. "The combined Jedi-GA fleet will be reaching Korriban in a matter of hours. We'll be getting there ahead of them."
"And when we do get there?" Nelani asked.
"Well, that's where we have to start now," Jacen said. "Nelani, you have to begin establishing a mental connection with Tekli in under half an hour while I do the same with Tahiri. When that happens, Tekli should be at least semi-prepared to defend herself from White Current illusions and be able to counter Aing-Tii teleportations that the Sith may attack us with."
"Right, no pressure," Nelani quipped grimly. "And how are we supposed to do this?"
"Remember what I taught you about mnemotherapy?" Jacen asked.
"Yeah," Nelani answered.
"Well, now, you'll have to reverse it and give a portion of your memories to Tekli about how to counter what Garis would have taught the Sith," Jacen said. "Just enough so you're both competent enough to counter at least one teleportation attack each."
"Would I be able to gain it back?" Nelani asked.
Jacen nodded. "When this is all over, and if we survive, you can have it all back, and Tahiri and Tekli will have to learn on their own if they want what we gave them back to them."
"Well, then let's get started," Nelani said.
Jacen and Tahiri then turned to each other, grabbed their hands on the temples of the other, and closed their eyes in concentration as Jacen began giving her just enough of his memories on how to master and counter Aing-Tii teleportations and White Current illusions. Following her former Master's lead, Nelani began to do the same thing with Tekli.
