Of hunters and rangers

BOOOOOOOOOM

That was what the pokemon and I had woken up to, we all stood up off the ground, except uxie who still wasn't feeling well, and looked around. I stopped looking around when I saw a large cloud of smoke coming from the east of where we were.

"Hey starly can you go and see what caused that cloud of smoke to appear!" I asked one of the starly that where still there, he nodded and took of in the direction of the smoke while I was busy packing up my sleeping bag. After I did that I crushed up some Oran berries and gave them to uxie to eat before I put all my supplies into my bag by the time that was all done the starly that I had sent out had come back. "Did you find out what caused the explosion?" the starly then started to move around frantically and was making sounds like there was trouble. "Guys in black outfits?" I asked catching a bit of what starly was saying.

'It must be the poachers that are after me, they followed me here' uxie said looking down I looked at uxie and walked over to him and picked him up carrying him like a human baby would be carries.

"Don't worry uxie, I promise that they won't get you" I said soothingly and uxie looked at me then at all the other pokemon as they cheered their agreements. "See, we'll all protect you no matter what, you're a friend now. Alright we all need to split up, we stand out to much in this big group" I said directing the last part to all of the other pokemon there and they all nodded and ran, flew or swam off in different directions, I picked up my bags and ran west with uxie still in my arms.

'Where are we going Naomi?' uxie asked looking around.

"Well we can't go into town or that will cause more problems so we're going to a secret place I found when I was exploring the wood one day as a kid" I said remembering the little cave I had called my own. After 5 minutes of running past, jumping and dodging trees we finally made it to a cave, but before I went in a pachirisu came out of the nearby bush and started acting frantic, it calmed down a bit and started to point in the direction it had just come from and started to tell me what was wrong. "What? A pokemon ranger, in luxray's territory, wait here for a bit pachirisu" I said as I walked into the cave and kept going until I came to a little lake inside of the cave, I shifted uxie onto one arm while I dug into my leg pouch and pulled out two A99 Aquatic breather and handed one of them to uxie. "Here put this is your mouth it'll help you breathe under water"

'I'll be okay, I can breathe underwater' he said handing it back to me.

"Good to know" I said putting one of the back in my leg pouch and then dove into the lake and started to swim down. About half way down I straightened up and swam into the little cave that was there until I re-surfaced in an empty little room that only has blankets, pillows and a few other necessities that I would need if I were to camp out in here. I swam over to the edge and put uxie on the floor as I got out of the water and put the aquatic breather back into my leg pouch with the other. I picked up uxie and carried him over to the blankets where I set him down and got my bag off of my back and started to pull a few things out of it like pokemon food, water, some berries and a ball, I placed them all near uxie and stood up.

; you're leaving?' uxie asked a little worriedly

"don't worry I'll be back soon, I just have to go and help out that pokemon ranger, you'll be safe here." I said as I put my bag back onto my back and started to walk to the little lake, I took out an aqua breather and put in into my mouth before I jumped into the water. When I got out of the cave I saw pachirisu was waiting there. "Alright, can you show me where the Pokémon ranger is" it nodded it's head before running off with me not far behind it. After a while of running the pachirisu stopped and so did I as just about 10 yards away was Luxray along with some Luxio and the have cornered a man who had his hands up in front of him.

"Now, now, nice Luxray and Luxio, I'm not here to hurt you" he said backing up until his back was touching the rocks behind him.

"Luxray, stop, he's with me" I said running up to them, Luxray looked at me for a minute before nodding and turning around and leaving with the Luxio in tow.

Ranger's P.O.V

I had my back up against a rock as a Luxray and a few Luxio where in front of me ready to attack at the first wrong move that I did, I slowly started to reach for my capture styler when I heard someone shout-

"Luxray, stop, he's with me" I looked to my right and saw a girl about 12 years old running towards the Luxray, I was about to yell at her to stop when I saw the Luxray nod and leave with the Luxio behind.

'how did she do that, those where wild pokemon yet they listened to her like she was there trainer I thought looking at the girl as she was thanking the pachirisu and telling it to be safe as it ran away, she then looked ,y way.

Naomi's P.O.V

I looked at the pokemon ranger in front of me and studied him a little, he was wearing the standard ranger clothes, had blond hair and green eyes. As I was studying him I could tell he was studying me as well.

"Tell me" I said breaking the silence "are you really a pokemon ranger"

"Uhh…yes, Jack Walkers' the name, please call me Jackie" he said with a smile as he walked over to me "thanks for helping me out there, but who are you?"

"My names Naomi. Now, tell me Jackie, do you know of a pokemon called uxie?" I asked seriously. When I said uxie Jackie's smile turned into a serious expression like mine.

"Yes. How do you know about it?"

"I'd rather not talk about it out here in the open, would you? Follow me." I said as I started to run back to the cave that I had left uxie in. when we got to the cave we stopped outside and Jackie was panting slightly.

"You run fast, you know that. He asked trying to get his breath back.

I ignored his question and looked around. "Oh, I hope he's still here."

"What do you mean you hope he's…..you have ux-" I shushed Jackie before he could finish and led him into the cave when I saw that no one was around

"you can swim right?" I asked when we got to the little lake.

"of course" Jackie said looking at me as I took out the two A99 Aquatic breath devices and handed one of them to him, "you're certainly prepared" he said taking it and put in ito his mouth.

"You don't know the half of it" I said putting mine in and diving into the lake and waited for Jackie to do the same, when he did I led him to the cave that I had put uxie in. when I surface I took out the aquatic breather and got out, when I looked at uxie I saw that he was asleep. I heard Jackie surface so I turned to him and gave him the sign to be quiet and pointed to uxie on the blankets, Jackie got out of the water quiterly as I was walking over to uxie. When I got by him he woke up so I sat down on the blankets next to him. "Hey uxie, how you holding up?"

'good, thank you' uxie smiled but as soon as he saw Jackie not far way he quickly jumped into my arms.

"it's okay uxie, this is Jackie, a pokemon ranger, you know that one that I went to help out, he's here to help you." I said soothingly to uxie and I rubbed his head.

Jackie's P.O.V

'Incredible, she managed to befriend uxie after he had been so badly hurt by humans' I though looking at uxie who was in Naomi's arms, I then looked at Naomi. 'looks like Naomi just has a gift'

Naomi's P.O.V

After calming uxie down he fell asleep again but this time in my arms and Jackie came and sat next to me

"what are you going to do with uxie?" I asked after a little while.

"where going to take him back to Acuity where he belongs"

"what are you doing about the poachers that are in the forest" I asked remembering the explosion from this morning.

"we'll get them but right now our main priority is getting uxie to safety"

"I know that, and I'm going to help protect uxie."

"it's too dangerous" Jackie said as a form of protesting.

"I don't care uxie is a friend of mine now and i#m willing to do anything for my friends."

"But-"

'Please let her help' I looked down and saw that uxie was awake, Jackie signs knowing that he won't win the argument.

"Alright, you can help." Then he realised that he didn't know that voice"who said-"

"it was uxie, he's a psychic type"

"Good to know" me and uxie smiled but I then looked up and quickly stood up. "We have to get out of here, now!"

"Why?" Jackie asked then he heard the voice that had made me stand up.

"Hey houndoom's got something"

"houndoom use dig." I quickly got the aquatic breathers out and handed Jackie one and we put them in our mouths before jumping into the lake and leaving just before there was any chance for them to see us. When we got out of the cave we started running until Jackie grabbed my arm and pulled me into a bush and covered my mouth with his hand as someone arrived in front of the bush.

"Alright, come on out, we know that you're in there" we didn't move "you're not going to come out, fine we'll force you out, use flamethrower" I looked at Jackie and he pointed at the ground in a stay here motion and I nodded as he stood up. "Well if it isn't the pokemon ranger, where's uxie"

"I don't know, nor would I tell you if I did."

"Fine have it you way, flamethrower"

Jackie's P.O.V

I was trying to distract the poachers so that they wouldn't find Naomi or uxie that where hiding in the bush when one of the men order a houndoom to use flamethrower, but it wasn't aimed at me, it went right at the bush that had Naomi and uxie in.

"NO, NAOMI, UXIE"
