Chapter 14: Infiltrator Part 1

Hey, Hey, Hey! This chappie is about episode 6! So, Roy and Dani will meet again and Artemis is joining the team! Yeah!

Star City

Star City's traffic is very heavy. I observed the weird faces of the people of Star City, thankfully people decided to wait in their cars. At least they are not hot headed.

I walked fast, tighten the grip on my navy blue shoulder bag. I can't believe that Hal had given me a stupid request for his company, blah,blah. I didn't even bother to listen.

I arrived at Royal University. Then my phone rings. I picked it up, "Yeah?"

"Sis!" It's Hal. "Are you already at the university?"

I walked the stairs and some students were running around the stairs. "I'm in the stairs." I opened the door and make my way to the dean's office. "In the dean's office."

"Okay. Just tell me when you already delivered the invitations. Bye!" He hanged up. I sighed. When I get back at Coast City, he really owes me.

The dean's office is big and neat. A woman who is taller than me and wears office clothes approaches me. She is blonde and wears simple make up.

"Can I help you, miss?" She asks, looking at me.

"Yes mam. Um, I'm here on behalf of Miss Carol Ferris to give the invitation for the meeting next month. Miss Ferris said that it's best if I give it to them early because of the undecided date." I say.

She nods. "Of course. The Dean has mentioned of it before. Did Miss Ferris wants you to give it personally?"

I nod. "Yes mam."

"Then you can go. The professor's might be in their room with their classes but some are in the faculty." She left without any directions where the faculty room is. This sucks.

I went out of the office and went to the bulletin board, hoping for some map around the school. And still nothing. It is full of announcements of student councils and from other organizations.

"Looking for a map?" I turn around and saw an auburn guy. Okay, he is definitely handsome. He is wearing black pants with white t shirt and red jacket. He is taller than me, maybe 5 inches taller. He has a neat haircut probably military style. He looks really good in his haircut.

Within minutes he reminded me of a guy that I met on the other day at Queen Industries. I nod quickly. "Yeah. I say, turning another glance to see him. "Have we met before? Because you look really familiar and-"

He smirks. "Shoelace. You're that brunette at Queen Industries." He looks down but realizes that I am not wearing shoes with shoelaces. Ha! In your face!

"I avoided it. I just realize there that I should stop wearing one." I say. "I better go. I have to find the professors in this school."

I walk slowly, trying to see if he wanna catch up. And he did. "Why do you need to find the professors? Did you forget your homework or something?" He says, catching up on me.

"It's none of your business to know what I am doing here. Plus, I don't go here. I just started my freshman year at my school back home." I asked.

He crossed his arms, his biceps showing. I could feel my face flushed but I try to ignore it. "I never went here. I have somethings to do here."

We walked around the halls and girls were looking at him like some kind of a popstar. They were giggling and blushing. He is handsome and tall. Girls always like that. But not me. Some are giving glares at me. Maybe I should stay away from him.

We went upstairs and thankful that no one is here to give me glares. I sighed in relief.

"Is that normal?" I say, looking out for a faculty rooms.

"What's normal?" He asks, also looking for a faculty room.

"Girls screaming and even fainting. Is that normal for you?"

He chuckles and it is cute. "Depends." He looks at me for a long time and I am blushing hard. He pointed. "Faculty room."

He went for it and I followed. That was stupid, I thought and shake my head. As we make our way to the faculty room. Many teachers and professors are gathering inside and some are panicking.

"What's going on?" I whispered to him.

He shrugs his shoulders and he went inside to get some information. This guy is a hot head. He really wants to have information right away.

I waited outside and he finally emerged from the room. "What happened? Is somebody dead or something?"

He shakes his head. "It's Dr. Roquette. She's missing."

"Just now?"

"Morning. Someone took her. The professors were not aware until now. They were looking for her because she was busy with her project."

I stood up, following him. "Where are you going? I thought you were going to help me in finding the teachers in the school."

He went to the stairs and stopped. "I have some other things to do. I'm Roy Harper by the way." He extends his hand and I shake it.

"Danielle Jordan. People call me Dani." I say and he nods.

He turns around, ready to leave. "Roy!" I go after him and when I get downstairs, he's gone. Great, he's like Batman in civies.

I sighed and decided to go to Coast City and inform Aunt Carol about this news. Who would kidnap Dr. Roquette? Maybe people like Cobra.

Coast City

August 8, 2010, 19:53 EDT

Hal and I walked the streets of Coast City. Hal shoves his hand on his popcorn and continues to eat with his mouth full.

"Never date a guy who doesn't know how to take care of you." Hal says as we eat our popcorn and hotdogs. He points his hotdog to me, "And doesn't know how to give you free food."

I laugh hard. "What are you talking about? I'm just 13, Hal."

He gives me a concern look, "You may be 13 sis. And I am not joking. I have my first kiss when I was 13."

I stopped. "Woah, you never mention me about that. Really? Is the girl pretty? What was it like? Was she a good kisser? Or you're the bad kisser?"

Hal laughed hard and walked away. He puts his hand on my shoulder, urging me to go. "Come on, sis. Let's go. You don't want to be late for your meeting with the team."

I give him a look. He held his hands in the air, defensely. "Okay! Next time. When you have those issues then we could talk about my love life."

I smiled and he gives me a thumbs up before I went inside the booth.

Mount Justice

I walked in, "Dani watch out!" Someone say and I tripped over something, headfirst on the ground.

"What the-"I look up and saw some beach stuff that I tripped. Of course, I forgot the beach party, Robin did remind me and I forgot to attend. Stupid.

"So you must be Polaris. Love your uniform." A blonde girl with a green archer uniform says. I raised my eyebrow.

Recognized Speedy B-06

A tall auburn haired boy appeared. "Well for starters, he doesn't go by speedy anymore. Call me Red Arrow." He looked at me and smirked. Okay, another hot head.

I rolled my eyes and stood up and went toward them. This auburn guy thinks he's so tough, it makes me wanna punch him. He thinks he's so big and bad.

"Roy. You look-" Green Arrow says.

"Replaceable." He finished the sentence. Ha! Look who got replaced. I smirked at him and he gives me a glance.

He walked forward and Green Arrow did the same too. "It's not like that. You told me that you're going solo."

"So why waste time finding a sub?" He looked at her. "Can she even use that bow?"

The blonde girl moved forward, only inches away from his face. "Yes, yes she can."

"Who are you?!" Kid yelled and still he is shirtless and with a sunscreen on his nose. He looks so funny.

"She's my neice."

"I'm his neice." Green Arrow and the blonde girl said. Okay, what's her name?

I nudged Robin and he was startled at first. "What's her name?" I whispered.

"Artemis." He whispered back. "Another neice?" He asked.

"But she is not your replacement. We have always wanted you on the team. And we have no quota on archers." Kaldur said.

"And if we did. You know who we'd pick." Kid says.

"Whatever Baywatch, I'm here to stay." Artemis says and puts her hands on her hips. She's tough and cool. Wish she could be my best friend right away.

"You came for us for a reason." Kaldur said.

"Yeah, a reason named Dr. Serling Roquette." He said and it made Robin's domino mask wider.

He opened his holographic computer. "Nanorobotics genius and claytronics expert at Royal University in Star City." It revealed a couple of pictures of her and some of her works. Ahh, a pure genius indeed. No wonder Aunt Carol picked her for the conference. Maybe she needed someone who is good with technology like her.

Robin continued, "Vanished two weeks ago."

"Abducted two weeks ago by the league of shadows." Red Arrow says. Robin dismissed his holographic computer and walked towards him.

"Whoa. That's pretty cool." I say and Robin nods.

"You want us to rescue her from the shadows?" They made a fist pumped. "Hard core." That is hard core. Hal told me that the League of Shadows were really bad as in bad. They have a lot assassination.

"I already rescued her. Only one problem." He says. He approached and took out something in his hands.

"And what seems to be the problem?" I asked.

He ignored me and continued. "The shadows had already coercered her into creating a weapon." He opened a holographic screen, showing a weird device with a pest and the computer.

He continues, "Doc calls it the fog. Comprised of millions of microscopic robots. Nanotech infiltrators capable in disintegrating anything in their path. Concrete, steel, flesh and bone."

I crossed my arms and he still continues, "But its true purpose isn't mere destruction. It's theft. The infiltrators eat and store raw data from any computer system and deliver the stolen Intel to the shadows. Providing them access to weapons. Strategic defense cutting edge science and tech."

"Perfect for extortion, manipulation and power broking. Yeah, sounds like the shadows." Artemis says. How does she know about the shadows?

"Like you know anything about the shadows." Kid says.

She gives him a look. "Who are you?!" Kid yelled.

Red Arrow cuts them off. "Rocquette's working on a virus to render the fog inert."

"But if they know that she can do that—" Robin says.

Red Arrow finishes. "They'll target her. Right now, she's off the grid." He shows a hologram picture of a school. It's Happy Harbor High School. "I stashed her at the local high school computer lab."

"You left her alone?" Green Arrow asked.

"She's safe enough for now."

"Then let's you and I keep her that way."

"You and I? Don't you want to take your new protégé?"

Green Arrow steps forward but Batman stops him. "You brought this to the team. It's their mission which means it's her's now too."

He smirks. "Then my job is done." He walks out and gives me a look before he went to the zeta tube. What's his problem?
