Author's Note: Alright! It's the epilogue! Last chapter came as a surprise to everyone, so let's see what happens!
Epilogue (The final chapter)
Levy jolted upward in her bed, gasping for air. She looked around her room and realized she was in her room in Fairy Hills. Levy scrambled out of bed and ran to her window. She was expecting the window to be boarded up with metal but instead, the window was free of any obstructions. She opened the window frantically expecting a blood red sky but instead found a light blue morning sky. The birds were chirping, it was somewhat hot out and some of the residents of Fairy Hills were on there way to the guild. She turned her back from the window and slid down the wall and slumped on the ground.
It was all a dream.Levy realized Everything was a it seemed so real...why? It all seemed so real to her and just realizing it was all a dream really scared her; Levy's dreams were never this vivid. Levy then got up and went to make her bed. There, on her bed sheets was a book. She picked up the book and read the title 'Worlds Apart' by Mari Mcdougal. The story followed a young woman who was living in a zombie apocolyptic universe that is trying to find a cure for this new world. One day, she was kidnapped by a zombie who took her to make her into his bride. After a lot of situations, the main character found out the zombie was once her fiance, who lost his memories when The Virus struck.
"Well now I know how the dream started off." Levy muttered to herself. She looked over to her nightstand and found a half full mug of cocoa "I must've forgot to put it away." She reached for it and realized it was still warm. Levy then took a whiff of the cocoa and realized it was still fresh. This wasn't Levy's usual brand of cocoa. Levy then remembered that she borrowed cocoa mix from Juvia the night before because she ran out of her usual brand. I wonder...Levy thought. She walked over to the little kitchenette in her kitchen and found the cocoa mix on the counter. Levy then read the name of the cocoa mix.
Grandma Mildred's Forever Fresh Cocoa.
Fresh and warm till the last drop!
WARNING: Due to magical properties in this cocoa, it may cause drowsiness, extremely vivid dreams, hallucinations and or chapped lips.
That explains a lot about Juvia's hallucinations. And it explained to Levy about the highly vivid dream she just had. Levy made a mental note to warn Juvia about not buying this brand again. Levy looked at the clock nearby and realized something she forgot.
"*gasp!* I'm suppose to meet Gajeel and Lily at the train station!" she said out loud. Levy ran back to her room and put on the nearest pair of clothes she had in her closet. Her orange dress (which happened to be Gajeel's favorite) and her red sandals.
Levy ran to the library in her home and packed as many books as she could before running out of Fairy Hills and to the train station.
Levy ran as fast as she could to the train she was suppose to board with Gajeel and Lily. They took a mission for a day at a nearby town so they could get to spend some time and at least make it home that night. Levy huffed and puffed after stopping.
"Oi! Shrimp!" a familiar voice said Levy looked up to find Gajeel "There you are! What took ya so long?" Levy smiled when she spotted him; he wasn't the zombie she dreamt of. Tears streamed down her face and she began to choke out a sob.
"O-oi! Shrimp! Whatch'ya cryin for?!" Levy ran over to him and hugged him tightly around the waist "Shrimp! What happened? Why ya cryin?!"
"Is everything ok?" a voice asked. It was Lily, he just flew from the ticket station over to the two mages and noticed Levy crying.
"I-I'm sorry guys." Levy choked out "I-I'm just so happy to see you both!" Gajeel and Lily exchanged glances; something was up. They did their best to keep Levy calm during the wait for the train. By the time the train arrived, Levy had calmed down. During the train ride, Gajeel had fallen ill from his motion sickness. Gajeel's head was in her lap the whole time.
"So what made you so upset Levy?" asked PantherLily while he drank his kiwi juice.
"I'll explain later." she told Lily "I feel it would be best to explain after the mission so my issues don't get in the way of things." Lily smiled and nodded, he didn't want to get Levy upset again.
They finished the mission without an issue. The townspeople were burdened by a few thieves that apparently were Holder mages so defeating them was easier done than said. The team went to a nearby tree for a picnic. Levy had a few sandwiches she made, one for her, a kiwi filled one for Lily and an iron filled one for Gajeel.
"So shrimp?" Gajeel began "What made ya so upset?" Levy put her sandwich down and began to tell the two about the dream she had the night before. How she had to survive in a dying world, how Gajeel was turned into a zombie and how it was Jose behind all of it. Gajeel and Lily's eyes widened when she explained everything to the point she ran out of breath.
"I always knew something was off with Rain Woman. But I think that cocoa takes the case." Gajeel muttered.
"Well, I'm glad to hear it was just a dream Levy." Lily replied. Gajeel stared at Levy for a moment.
"Geez shrimp there's no way I would turn into a zombie." Gajeel muttered.
"Well, it did scare me a lot." Levy replied "To be honest, I'm still frightened from it." Levy began to slightly shake at the very thought of the dream. Lily looked at Gajeel for a moment as if to tell him to cheer her up. Gajeel then wrapped his arms around Levy's tiny frame.
"Take it easy short stack." Gajeel replied "How about we catch the later train and go shopping or whatever the hell you like to cheer ya up?" Levy looked up to Gajeel and smiled.
"I would like that." she replied. Gajeel, Lily and Levy spent the rest of the day shopping. Levy got a bunch of new books that she never read before, Lily went to a sword shop and Gajeel went to a few unspecified stores. They took the later train and soon arrived back in Magnolia.
"Hey Gajeel," Levy said "What stuff did you get?"
"Err... I'll tell you another time." Gajeel replied. Lily looked at the town's clock and realized how late it really was.
"It's almost midnight." Lily replied "It would take Levy an hour to get to Fairy Hills by foot. Gajeel, why don't Levy stay with us for the night?"
"Sure. Why not?" Gajeel replied. They returned to Gajeel's small ranch in fifteen minutes and dropped the stuff to the ground.
"Go take a shower small fry, Lily will get you some clothes I'll get my room ready for you to sleep in.
"Maybe it's best if I take the couch-"
"No." Gajeel interrupted "I'll take the couch. You take my bed shrimp. Then again, you're so tiny I wouldn't be able to find you in there, Gihihi." Levy puffed her cheeks at that statement. She dropped her bags and went to take a shower.
Fifteen minutes passed and Levy soon left the bathroom fully clothed and witnessed Gajeel putting his floor boards back in place and moving his bed back to it's original position.
"What're you doing?" Levy asked.
"Don't worry about it." he muttered. They looked at the time on the lacrima clock and realized it was close to 12:30 "C'mon half pint, time to settle down for the night." He pulled the blanket covers and let Levy hop into the bed. Gajeel went ahead and put the covers on Levy. Gajeel said his good nights to Levy and began to turn the lights off.
"W-wait!" Levy said, Gajeel stopped in his tracks.
"What is it now shrimp?" he asked.
"C-Could you stay with me for the first hour or two?" Her cheeks turned red "I-its not what you're thinking! It's just, I know it sounds stupid but I'm kinda still scared to go to sleep after that dream." Gajeel looked at Levy for a moment and sighed.
"Why not shrimp." he said "Scoot over." Levy scooted over and she began to notice that he was removing his clothes; except his underwear.
"G-Gajeel!" Levy squeaked.
"What? This is how I sleep. Don't worry, I'm not gonna try anything." He climbed right next to her and covered himself in the blankets. He then pulled Levy closer to him "This is payback for making me do this. For the next few hours you're Lily." Levy couldn't help but blush to that statement. He then gave her a kiss on the forehead which activated another blush "That's for general principal." he said. Soon, the couple fell asleep but what Levy didn't know was what Gajeel bought that day. Early on when she caught him putting the floor boards back, he actually was storing something underneath his house.
Underneath the bedroom floors were weapons, magic guns to be exact. Food that will never expire and a long silver box that was locked and on the top of the box was a note; the note said 'In case of Zombie Apocalypse, break open.'
The End.
