A/N GUYS! So I am back from Vaca, I got back like a week or 2 ago. But I have been BUSY! Last MONDAY WAS MY BIRTHDAY! HOLY SHIT I'm ALREADY 17! This is crazy I can't believe how much time fly's! I got a Four and Tris Blanket from a friend and it was like the best present haha! I'll tell more at the end of the Chapter. ENJOY
I see my home-coming into the distance, excitement builds up inside me I get to excited and jump early. It's going to be a five-minute walk from here where's if I had stayed on the train just a matter of seconds I would be there.
I see the train pass my home. I could have been there now but no I had to jump early. I start in a slow run but then pick up pace I can't stand this it's taking to long! I run as fast as I can and when I reach Dauntless no one is waiting for me.
I can feel apart of me crush. Why isn't Tobias here? He was last time. Then it hits me. I'm early by a good two hours. I can't decide if I want to surprise him or Christina. Screw it Tobias it is. I run inside and head to our room instead of walking in I knock. No answer.
I put on a high-pitched girly voice. "Four. Let me in." I say suppressing a laugh.
"Go away!" I hear him yell. I smile just hearing him speak.
"Please. Let me in I have to tell you something! " I say with a high-pitched giggle.
"WHY CAN'T YOU GUYS GET THE POINT I HAVE A GIRLFRIEND WHO I LOVE! NOW LEAVE ME ALONE!" He says and whips open the door, I smile at him and he looks at me in shock. "Tris!?"
"Surprise!" I say, he wraps his arms around me and holds me tight.
"What are you doing here so early!?"
"Robert got them to let me go early."
"This means you have 5 hours!"
"Yup." I actually didn't realize that I had that long.
"Let's go." He says and leads me to the cafeteria.
"Where are we going?"
"You will see." He says with a smile. "I missed you."
"I know. I missed you."
"I love you."
"I know! I love you too! Now stop with this sappy romantic stuff and tell me where we're going."
"Well Christina was mad that you came back last week but left without saying goodbye, she made me promise not to tell you."
"Tell me what?" I say as we walking in the dining hall.
"TRIS!" Christina screams and runs up to me, hugging me.
"Hey, Christina." I say and hug her back.
"Missed you! Where have you been, Four said you had a job so you had to leave for a while."
"Yeah, uh it's just a job, I'm going back in a couple of hours."
"Well then lets party this place up!" She says loudly, Uriah turns on some music, people start to come in I hang on to Tobias arm as he wades though the crowd.
I don't know how many people are already in here more than half of them don't even know me, but yet they are Dauntless, and Dauntless come to any party. They hear music or people screaming and having a good time they come running.
"Hey, do you want a drink?" Tobias says.
"Oh yeah, thanks." I say, he walks to a table and grabs two drinks, people surround the table blocking my view of him. I look around for him and can't find him, suddenly I feel an arm go around my shoulder.
"Drink for my lady." He says. I smile and take the drink.
"Thank you." I say and take a drink, it burns going down but I force it down, it hits my stomach hard but warm, I finish the drink at the same time as Tobias. "Hey I'm going to go talk with Christina." I say to him, he nods and I walk off to Christina.
"Tris! Have you had a drink yet?" Christina says, and hands me another drink.
"Yeah. I had one."
"Have another!" I take the drink and drink it down fast. "Come on let's go dance together!" She says, it's obvious she's already drunk.
"Okay." I say and she grabs my arm and pulls me to where everyone else is dancing, Christina ditches me within minutes and I'm just surrounded around grinding Dauntless. I make my way off the dance floor and sit on a bar stool.
"Can I get you a drink miss?" The bar tender says.
"Hm? Me? Oh no I'm good, Thank tho." I say and scan the crowd for Tobias.
"There you are!" Uriah says and pats my back. "Have you had a drink?"
"Yeah! I have I don't need anymore."
"What you a lightweight?"
"I don't know, I just can't get drunk. Not tonight." I say, I can't be drunk or hung over when I go to Erudite, that would not be good at all!
"Oh you baby!"
"No It's just I have work tomorrow."
"Sure, okay."
"Hey have you seen Four anywhere?"
"Yeah, he's over there talking with that chick." Uriah points I look and see a pissed look on Tobias face.
"Thanks." I say and start to walk over to him. I can hear him telling the girl to leave him alone but she keep talking to him and putting her hands on him. I walk up behind him and stand on my toes wrapping my arms around him, I kiss his neck and whisper in his ear. "Hey." I say.
He turns around and smiles. "There you are!" He says embracing me in a hug.
"Yeah, thought you could use some company." I say and look over at the girl. Her hair is black with blonde streaks underneath it, her nose has two rings in it, her eyebrow has a ring and under her lips she has snake bites. She has a huge gauge in one ear and in the other she has a smaller one, the rest of her ears are pierced with little rings and studs.
"He has company little girl." She says with an unimpressed look.
"You're right. I do, now." Tobias says and kisses my cheek, I smile and look up at him. "Oh, uh Tris this is...?"
"I told you like seven times! My name is Tracy!"
"Oh Tris this is Tracy. Tracy this is my girlfriend Tris."
"Yeah! Aren't I just so lucky you have such a kind, honest, trustworthy, boyfriend?" I say with a big smile still looking at Tobias.
"Uh." Is all the girl says.
"Hey, did you have fun with Christina?"
"Sorta, she ditched me, she went grinding on Will."
"Ah, yes. Well I'm here and if you want you can ditch her and grind on me." He teases.
"I'll pass. But a kiss is good." I say, I can feel how awkward this is for Tracy.
"Hm, I can do that easily." Tobias says and pulls me close to him, I stand between his legs as he leans down and presses his lips to mine. I laugh a little when his hand goes to the small of my back because he tickles me a little when he got to my side.
I pull back a little, "Don't tickle me!" I say and kiss him lightly, which he turns into a deep kiss, he lifts me up so I'm straddling him, by this time Tracy has huffed off and joined her posse of skanks.
When we pull back this time he looks into my eyes and I can see how much he actually cares for me. "Tris," He says.
"Yeah?"
"I don't want you to leave without knowing something."
"What?" He sits with his hands on my back holding me up, my arms around his neck, I can feel him fumbling with his fingers. "What is it?"
"Nothing. I just love you."
"Tobias, you are hiding something. What is it?"
"Nothing really, I promise. I just miss you a lot when you're gone. I don't want you to leave."
"Are you sure?"
"Yes. I'm very sure."
"I don't think you are. You look like you are either hiding something, or need to ask me something."
"Well I will ask you when you get back."
"You sure it can wait?"
"It's waited for about 3 years, I'm sure it can wait a week or two." What does he want to ask me?
"Okay. But I have a question, I was thinking about it at Amity."
"Shoot." He says, glad the topic changed.
"Do you see you getting married?" My question seemed to have shocked him.
"What? What do you mean?"
"I don't know I mean when I was in Amity I told the people I was with that I had a boyfriend they wouldn't know and I told them how long we were together and they asked if we were getting married. I don't know it just go me thinking. I mean we never really talked about it."
"Oh, I see what you mean. Uh, Tris this really isn't the place to talk about this though. Okay?" I sigh a little.
"Okay. But do you?"
"Do I what?"
"See us getting married?"
"Uh, I guess. Maybe." He says. I get off his lap and we stand up. "Hey, I'm going to talk to Zeke for a second." He says.
"Oh, okay. I'm going to find Christina again." I say and walk off. Is it just me or did he seem kind of not liking the face of us getting married. I can see it, we have been together for a long, long time. I don't see why not, what is what he has to ask me if actually a break up! I need to find Christina.
I spot her and pull her out the doors so it's more quiet. "Hey, what the hell Tris!" She says.
"Sorry I need to talk to you!"
"What is it?"
"Something wrong with Four."
"I don't think so, I just say you guys totally making out, nothing wrong with him or you."
"No! After that he said he had to ask me something but he isn't going to ask until I get back. But then I asked him if he saw us getting married in the future, and he like froze up and said maybe then he went to talk to Zeke. Do you think that he is going to break up with me? Is that why he want to wait until after I get back so I wont screw up my job?"
"Tris I really don't think Four would do something like that. If you want I can do a little investigating see what he is talking to Zeke about."
"Will you!?"
"Yes, I'll find you when I'm done. You go have fun!"
"Okay, thank you Chris!" I say as we walk inside.
"No Problem. You owe me one."
"Okay!" I watch as she walks over to Zeke who is now sitting alone, I walk over to Uriah and Will and talk with them for a while. Ten minutes later Christina pulls me out the door like I had just done to her. "What did he say?"
"You have nothing to worry about! That is all I am going to say because all he said was Four is so not going to break up with you. He wouldn't ever do that!" She says with a huge smile.
"You believe him?"
"Yes! With all my heart and soul!" She says with a smile.
"Okay then. Thanks."
"Yeah No problem at all!" She walks inside and heads to Will and Uriah talking with them, I scout the room and see Shauna and walk over to her.
"Hey." I say.
"Hi Tris! You having fun?"
"Yeah! This is great!"
"Christina has been planning this since...gah a few days now, once she heard when you were gonna be back."
"Well she did good like always."
"Yeah! So how are you and Four? I mean I heard about you being away on work an all."
"Oh we are really good, I mean I miss him a lot when I'm gone but once I'm back and with him it just feels nice."
"That is so cute." I laugh a little and nod.
"So how about you and Zeke?"
"We are awesome! He is great and so nice, and funny!"
"That's great! Glad to hear! Anything I miss while I was gone?"
"Hm, not that I can think of. Eric hasn't been is annoying self."
"That is good to hear." I say with a laugh.
"There you are. Hey it's almost 3:00. Did you want to spend some time alone?" Tobias says putting his hand on my back. I look up at him.
"Oh yeah. Let me just so bye to everyone."
"Okay." Tobias and I walk around the room finding out friends and saying goodbye. We finally find Christina she hugs me and says goodbye.
"When you come back tell me! Okay!?"
"Okay I will. Promise."
"Bye Tris!" She says as Tobias and I walk out the door.
"Did you have a good time?" Tobias asks as we walk to the apartment.
"Yeah, it was great. I really missed all of them."
"Yeah. They missed you. But I missed you most."
"I missed you most." I say. "I miss you right now." He smiles and grabs my hand.
"I can't wait until you come back again, and you never leave."
"I don't know about never."
"You know what I mean!" He says, I laugh and nod.
"Yeah, I know." I say. "What were you talking to Zeke about?"
"Hm? Oh nothing really. Just some control room stuff."
"Really?"
"Yeah, I need him to cover a shift. Also I needed some help finding something."
"Oh, finding what?"
"A file...? What else would one be finding in the control room."
Tobias
It's hard not just asking her right here, I mean I still need to get her a ring so that is another thing holding me back. Also her being gone makes it a little hard. Zeke has been helping me try to find the right ring, but him not know Tris that well and thinking about Shauna, he goes for the big rings with lots of diamonds.
"I don't know. Maybe it wasn't something in the control room."
"Tris, do you not trust me?"
"No, I do."
"Okay then. We only have a half hour you know."
"Don't remind me."
"Sorry. Do you want to go outside?"
"Yes! Let's do that. Oh but first I'm going to shower. Okay?"
"Okay." I walk with her back to our room, I lay back on the bed as she walks in the bathroom.
"When you hear the water turn on come in." She says. I sit up and give her a confused face but nod anyway. She walks in the bathroom and closes the door, within a few minutes I hear the water turn on, I get up and walk in the bathroom.
"Yeah?" I say and sit on the counter top.
"I want to spend as much time with you so you talk while I shower." She says.
"Okay. What do I talk about?"
"Anything, and everything. Just tell me what you do while I'm gone."
"Okay. Well uh, to me Dauntless has been very inactive, without you it's kind of boring. All I do all day is work and eat and sleep, any free time I spend think of you. And staying shut away in my room."
"No really." She says. I laugh I can hear her getting irritated with me.
"Okay, Just work and spending time with everyone. But I am being honest when I say that at night I miss you by my side I mean it. I know it sounds really cheesy but it's true." The water turns off and Tris sticks her hand out of the shower, I get off the counter, grab a towel and pass it to her. Within second she is out of the shower with the towel around her chest.
"That was really cheesy." She says with a smile.
"Told ya."
"But that goes the same for me."
"Really?"
"Yeah, really." I lean against the counter with my arms crossed and smile at her. "What?" She says standing there dripping wet, her hair hanging is wet dripping strips, she holds the towel up and shivers a little.
"Nothing. You just look so adorable. I should step out and let you change."
"You're a dork. Get out of here." She says and shoves me out of the bathroom. I laugh on my way out. "Dork!" She yells and slams the door.
When Tris comes out and rolls her eyes once she sees me. "What?" I say.
"Nothing."
"You look adorable." I say and walk over to her, I put my hands on her hips and pull her closer to me.
"I can just taste the cheese! That is how cheesy you are being." I laugh a little.
"I love you."
"Oh my god stop." She says and playfully hits my chest.
"Nope." I say and lean down a little, I touch my forehead to hers.
"Fine. Enjoy it while you can. I'm leaving." She says with a smile and pushes me away and walks out the door. I follow her out closing the door behind me, I wrap on hand around her waist.
"Okay, I will stop. I promise." I say as we walk outside.
"Good." She says and sits on the ground, I sit next to her. "I love you too." She says, I smile and kiss her cheek. She looks over at me her face bright even though it's dark outside. Her smile is small but makes you want to smile. Tris leans in and kisses my lightly, but within seconds its more fierce, Tris moves around so she's straddling my lap, her hands run through my hair.
I slip my hand under her shirt and they run up her back, her skin warm to the touch and soft against my rough hands. Tris pulls away fast when she hears the train whistle. "My guess is five minutes or so." She says.
"Don't say anything Tris. Just let it be us together and now worry about the train until it gets here. Okay?"
"Okay." She says resting her head against mine. I kiss her cheek and she moves next to me and lays her head on my lap, I play with strands of her hair for the last five minutes we have.
When the train comes buzzing by Tris jumps up. "I don't want to go." She says.
"It's Erudite right?"
"Yeah."
"Than you get to see Caleb. I know you don't want to go but you have to. Two weeks and you will be home. "
"Okay." She looks over at the train she has to get on within the next 30 seconds or she will miss it. "I love you."
"I love you too! Have fun." I say and she run after the train, I watch as she grabs the handle and swings herself into the car. She has this week and next week than she is done. When she comes back from Abnegation that is when I will ask her. Or my plan at least. You never know things could change.
Tris
I arrived last night or early this morning at Erudite. I was met by three people named Maggy, Geff and Roy. They were really nice for Erudite, didn't act like total know it all's but almost. They showed me to my room and some I was alone I feel asleep exhausted I was up for almost 24 hours.
When I woke up it was 11:00 AM I slept in, I knew I would have. I rush and got some breakfast then went straight to work.
"You are late Lana." Dave, my new 'boss' says.
"Sorry, up late reading, and doing some research, did you know-"
"Save it for later Mrs. Doss get to work." He says. I knew that would get me off the hook. I head for the computer and start to type away. I'm supposed to do research but I'm not I'm snooping through the other computers. After hanging out in the control room with Tobias I have picked up a thing or two.
I open a file that is titled Serums. I open it. 'End it all' another file is called. I click that one. I scan the file and it looks like book someone started to write. I skip that file and go to the next. 'My book' it reads.
In the file is a bunch of serum ideas I have never heard of. Open mind serum, hunger satisfaction, thirst, and cancer. I click on open mind serum and read about it. "This serum is to be made for those who want to be more open-minded and optimistic about any situation, for example those in Amity, it's more effective than Peace Serum." It says. All these in here seem good for all of us, hungry satisfaction and thirst those could easily help the factionless, it gives you enough of all the stuff you need to make you not hungry for a month, and the thirst makes you not need water for two weeks. These are all good.
I skim the rest of the file and they are all the same, something good for all factions, one of the few they had for Dauntless was called Tame. And it's for those who take Dauntless overboard and do things like murder and such, instead of sentencing them to death they give the Tame and it tames them down.
At lunch I sit with a few of the girls I met at work. It's scary how much I can change and adapt to a new faction so fast. I talk like the noses do now, when I get home I will talk like the Dauntless, then talk like the Abnegation. It's actually really interesting.
"Lana why have I never seen you around?" Jean asks me.
"Oh, I've just been hiding in the shadows, studying a lot, you know."
"Oh yeah I know what ya mean. I did that for a while."
"Yeah, now I'm just working away. Doing some more studying for a while."
"I can help you with anything."
"Actually uh there was someone here I wanted to meet. His name was uh, oh god what was it. Caleb. Yeah Caleb Prior."
"Oh Caleb! I know him. He's like really good-looking!" The other girls nod in agreement, its weird hearing girls say my brother is hot. "Don't you think he's good-looking?" Jean asks.
"Hm? Oh sure." I say not sure what to say. "So uh you know where he is?"
"Yeah! I'll take you to him right now!" She says and gets up, I get up and follow her. We walk down a few hallways and up some stairs then we reach a room with more computers. "He's over there. Why do you need him?"
"Oh I just wanted to ask him something." I say.
"Okay." She says and walks me over to him. "Caleb, hey. Uh this is Lana Doss, she wanted to talk to you."
"Can't. Busy." He says.
"Uh, Caleb?" I say. He turns around and open his mouth like he's about to talk but stops when he see's it's me.
"Lana?"
"That's me." I say and give him a go-along-with-it look.
"Nice to meet you T-Lana." He says and shakes my hand.
"You too. Hey, uh I wanted to talk to you. Alone."
"Yeah sure, let's go, outside." He says and grabs my arm. He leads me outside and Jean gives me a wink, I roll my eyes and walk with Caleb.
We walk around outside for a while until he finally speaks. "What are you doing here? Dressed like that?"
"I'm here for a week."
"Oh, that's this week I forgot, I was supposed to meet you, guess that means Roy meet instead."
"Yeah. So you do know about this."
"Oh of course." He says. "So you are here for the week?"
"Yeah."
"How does your boyfriend feel about you being gone so much?"
"It tough but we are getting through it."
"How is that anyway? I can't believe you guys are still together."
"Great. We are both really good. Of course we are still together. I am his, and he is mine, and it has been that way all along, and it will always be that way."
"So you guys are getting married?"
"Uh, I don't know." I shrug.
"What do you mean?"
"I mean I don't know he hasn't asked yet."
"Maybe he doesn't want to get married."
"I don't know." I say and stop walking. "I better get going."
"Yeah. Where are you working?"
"In computer room 2."
"Oh so a floor below me."
"Yeah."
"I'll walk you up there."
"Okay. Thanks." I say and we walk inside. He walks me to my seat and hugs me before he leaves.
"Let's meet up for dinner." He says. I nod and he walks out.
"Lana! He hugged you!" Jean, Dazy and Frany come up to me.
"Yeah, turns out he was my best friend in school. I kind of thought it was him but wasn't sure." I say.
"Oh that is so cool. I wish I knew him well."
"Yeah, he's pretty cool."
"You going to date him?" Dazy asks.
"No, god no! I have a boyfriend."
"Oh, I hope he doesn't have a girlfriend." Frany says.
"Oh yes. He is so cute."
"Uh guys, I'm going to just get back to work." I say. The girls nod and walk off.
Caleb and I have been hanging out a lot for the past 2 days. We seem to be closer now than when we were at home...In Abnegation. I actually really like it, I wonder if this is what it would be like if I came to Erudite.
But even if it was to be just like this I would never leave Dauntless and leave Tobias. I couldn't. Even if I didn't know I would fall in love in Dauntless I would still go. Dauntless is my home even if my brother and I are closer here. Factions before blood right?
I only seem to find that the Erudite are actually helping us, they aren't hurting anyone. I just need to dig deeper.
I've been moved up 4 floors so I'm almost to Jeanine's office. I have more accesses to TSF (Top secret files.) so I can get a lot more info, but there is nothing wrong.
I head down to lunch with Caleb and some of the girls and guys from my last few jobs. We all talk about Erudite stuff, some of which I can't understand, but the rest I do. My mind wonders off to thinking of Dauntless. God I can't wait for this to be over! I wonder what Tobias is doing at this moment. Let's see its 1:20 so he is just getting back to the control room. Sitting in the chair, about now I would sneak in and wrap my arms around his neck and kiss his cheek. Zeke would say something stupid and we would ignore him and totally make up until Zeke would get mad.
I laugh and shake my head a little just thinking about it. "What's so funny?" Jass says. The noses are always asking questions.
"Nothing just thinking of something." I say and eat some food.
"Aren't you going to share what you are laughing about?" Dray says.
"Uh...Okay... I was just think of my boyfriend. And some stupid stuff we did."
"Like?" I give up on trying not to tell them they are always just going to ask. Luckily Caleb left 10 minutes ago.
"We would make out near the computers at his work and it would annoy our friend but it was...is...funny."
"Oh. Okay." They say and don't speak again. Within a minute they go on with their annoying computer chat. I finish my food say goodbye and head back to work.
This is how my days are going to be. Eat, sleep, work, and all over again. I want this to end.
Two more day and I'm home. This is taking forever! I can't wait until I'm HOME for GOOD! I don't ever want to leave again, unless Tobias is with me. This is just the worst. I have no one to talk to but Caleb sometimes and my 'friends' I need my Dauntless family.
After work I walk up to Jeanine's office knowing she isn't in there. I walk in and sit at the computer there is nothing on it. I shrug and walk out, just as I wound the corner I see her coming, I back up and walk into a room, she walks by talking to a man with dark hair really tall. He has the same glasses everyone wears and the same blue and white, with some black.
"I think that we should add a little more of it to the serum so it make it more effective, and stronger." He says.
"I agree, but then we won't be able to control them."
"But that's not what we want to do."
"Shut up, you don't know what I want to do. Make it strong enough to be able to control them." Jeanine says.
"Ms. Jeanine We can't do that. It's not right."
"Shut up! And just do it." She yells and goes into her office.
"We can't. And you will be taught that you can't control people." He says quietly so she doesn't hear. After he walks off I get out of the room and walk down the halls and stairs to my room. I close the door and lay in bed trying to piece together what I have just heard. I fall asleep just thinking of it all, from what I can guess he is going to do something to Jeanine because he doesn't like her methods. Which I think he should, I hate her methods. I need to talk to this guy. I need to find him. First thing on my agenda tomorrow is to find him and talk to him.
I head up to The office next to Jeanine's were I think he will be, I knock and walk in when I hear a man's voice say come in.
"Can I help you?" He says not looking up, I know it's him.
"Yeah, uh, I was just walking the halls when I heard you and Jeanine talking yesterday." He stops what he was doing an looks up.
"And?"
"I was wondering what you meant by you will teach her that she can't control people."
"I didn't say that." He says and looks to a camera in the corner of the room. He slides a piece of paper across the table, I read it and he pick it up tears it and throws it away. I get up from my chair.
"Oh, well then thanks for your time sir. I hope to see you soon sometime." I say and leave. I head straight to the bean and sit on the ground. Within ten minutes he comes walking out and sits next to me.
"So you heard the whole conversation?" He says.
"Yes. What did you mean by that? I swear I wont tell a soul."
"Well if you haven't already I can trust you. I'm going to give Jeanine the serum so that we can control her. She is trying to ruin everything we are creating, most of us are trying to stop her but there are some who don't know what to do so they stay with the head of us all."
"You are going to give her a mind control serum and control her mind for now on. Why don't you guess just run the faction on your own if you are just going to control her?"
"We don't know how to get her out of the head position."
"I see. Can I help?"
"Yes! Please we need as much as we can get!" He says. I nod and get up.
"Well thanks for being honest with me and not lying. I will be getting back to you soon." I shake his hand and walk inside. I go and get some food then head up to talk with Caleb.
"Hey!" I say and sit next to him.
"Hey Lana, how are you."
"I'm great. You?"
"Great."
"Good. What are you doing?"
"Work, I'm studying a mind control serum."
"Oh Fun. What do you think of it." Please say you hate it, please say you hate it!
"It's stupid! Why would anyone want to control anyone? IT's not right. I think we should just skip the whole idea and just help the factions in a good better healthier safer way. You know?"
"Yeah I agree, you should say something. You know tell them what you think about it."
"You are right, I'm going to! I am going to be honest."
"Yes act like you are Candor. They should know what everyone thinks of it." I say and watch as he types out what he thinks of the new serum.
"Done. I really hate the idea of it. It's not right. Don't you agree?"
"Oh yeah, I agree wholeheartedly!" I say.
I go home tomorrow. As excited as I am I must find out what they are doing to Jeanine. I don't want her to be under mind control, no one should be, but how are we...they supposed to get ride of her.
"I know how to do it." Caleb says out of the blue. "Call all the faction together and we can like boot her off, Abnegation is the center of our government. If all the leaders agree we can demote her and make Alexander in charge!" Caleb says. I nod, that might just work.
"I leave tomorrow, I will talk to Max when I get there he can talk to the other leaders. Will I can also talk to Abnegation, if I'm still going." I say. We are just now walking back inside from having lunch at the bean.
"If you do go." Caleb says and takes a breath. "Tell mom and dad I love them. And I'm sorry."
"Okay. I'll do that."
"Thank Bae. Or Tri-Lana." He stumbles upon my many names. "So many names."
"I know. I know. I've had a lot the past few weeks."
"I bet. Well I should be getting back to work. I'll talk to later Lana." Caleb says and walks to the stairs, he opens a book he was holding and step by step he walks up the stairs while reading. He must have gotten really good at that. All of the Erudite are good at it. Not me, because I'm not Erudite, I can't walk around with my nose in a book and not run into people or have to look where I'm going. I watch him climb the stairs and wonder, when he knew he was Erudite. I didn't know I was Dauntless until I actually was in Dauntless, even during initiation I wasn't sure. How could he have been so sure?
I go to work sorting many different files into the new files, that's all I do is sort files, old to new, serum's and medicines. It's a really boring job, but sometimes I will come across something good and interesting but that's happen all of 6 times in my one week being here. I don't know how they can all stand it. Already studying, learning, all that stuff gives me a head ache after a while.
"Lana?" My boss Max says coming up behind me.
"Yeah?"
"I hear tomorrow is your last day and you will be transferred to a different work field."
"I guess so."
"You guess?"
"Well uh. Yeah, yeah it is."
"Well it was an honor having you on my team for as long as you were. You are a fast worker and you cause no problems. Thank you for your work."
"Yeah. No problem I have fun here. It was interesting learning new things."
"Of course it was. It always is." I laugh a little and he walks off. I sigh and get back to my very 'fun' file sorting.
Last day. I can't wait to get home. This week went by faster than I thought it would. There was so much to do and so much going on I had no time to worry about home or miss it as much as I have at the last factions. I hope that will be the same with Abnegation, it was less hard on me having Caleb, it should be better with my parents as well.
Nothing will be as nice as going home. I want this day to go by as fast as it can. So I will make the most of it, Caleb and I are going to spend the day together. It's going to be nice to be with him without fighting or having to worry about what we can say if it will be selfish of us to say something.
I walk down to his room and knock. "Oh uh hang on Lana." He says.
"Who's Lana?" I hear a voice, a girl's voice.
"Caleb hurry." I say.
"Who's Lana?" She says again.
"A friend. I was training her and now she is leaving today, so I was going to spend the day with her. Don't worry." He says, very snappy like, he opens the door as he throws on a blue vest.
A girl with blonde short hair sits on the couch wrapped in a blanket, her hair messed up from sleep. I give Caleb a look and he shoves me. "Shut up Lana. Don't say a thing."
"Oh but let me meet her!" I say and push past him.
"No, really."
"You met my boyfriend I can meet your..." I'm not sure if she is just like a one night stand or his girlfriend or what she is.
"Girlfriend."
"Yeah, you're girlfriend." I say and walk over to her, I shake her hand. "Hi I'm Lana."
"I'm Hallie. You have a boyfriend?" She says eyeing me.
"Yup." I say.
"So I don't have to worry." I break down laughing, I know she doesn't know we are siblings but it's just so funny!
"No! Trust me you don't." I say. She smiles a little. "Well We should get going." I say, Caleb nods and opens the door for me, I step out and he closes the door behind him. I wiggle my eyebrows at him and he pushes me again.
"Tr-Lana. I mean it. Don't even start. It's not like you and what's his face haven't done anything." He says. By anything I know he mean have sex.
"Well if by anything you mean sex...no we haven't sooo. I know what you've been busy with." I tease.
"OH MY GOD! STOP IT!"
"New faction, new life, new rule, new you. I get it. All new Caleb Prior. I may like this Caleb better than the last."
"Really? Can you not. What have they done to you?"
"By they I'm guessing you mean where I'm from." I say trying to be discreet because this place is loaded with cameras.
"Yeah."
"Nothing. Well they made me better, and more fun, and not a nose, or a stiff. Or anything else just. Me." I say.
"Well I don't see how you can stand it there. They are so...so.."
"Rough?"
"Yeah."
"Not really, I love it."
"Well at least you love where you are."
"And you don't?"
"No I do, I was just worried you didn't like it there."
"Oh Caleb. Don't worry about me. I got my family there. I'm safe."
"Sure you are."
"Really I am."
"Okay. Fine. SO what do you want to do first."
"Show me your favorite places to go and tell me about Hallie."
"Okay!" He says excited to show me around.
We spend more than half the day talking walking and just doing nothing, I learn so much about my brother I had never known, I learn about Hallie too. This is the kind of learning I like, I like knowing more about my brother, knowing his dreams, what he likes, what he hates, his views on everything.
I can't believe he felt they way he does about Me, mom and dad. I thought he hated us but really he feels like he doesn't belong anymore. Because my parents never liked Erudite because Jeanine, but they didn't mind the Dauntless. So he felt like he betrayed us, which of course he didn't really, he just went where he belonged. Not knowing what would happen or if Jeanine was actually that bad.
We have dinner in my room and I tell him a little more about Dauntless and Tobias, I tell him about Christina and all my friends. He listens with such interest it makes me think he's acting, but when I stop and presses me to tell more. He gives his advice and loves to hear about the crazy stuff Uriah and Zeke do. "So wait are you and Four talking about getting married?" He says, after I tell him about Tobias and I.
"I'm not sure, we only talked about it once and that was before I came here so I'm not really sure, it was a rushed talk."
"I see. Well when you get home and if you do I would love to know. I still care about you Bea."
"I know. I will tell you if I am getting married."
"Good. Well I better get going." He says looking at the clock. 12:00 already.
"Okay." I say. Caleb embraces me in a hug I can feel wet drops fall onto my shoulder, and I know he is crying.
"It was nice seeing you Bea."
"You too Caleb. Now stop all the crying you are going to make me cry."
"Sorry. I don't know why I'm crying I never cry."
"Well maybe it's tiered of being held back." I say.
"That is a really smart observation. You should have really joined Erudite. " I know he's teasing because he has a playful grin. Caleb wipes his tears, and hugs me one last time. "Tell mom and dad I love them okay?"
"Okay. I will I promise."
"I love you to Bea."
"And I you." I say, he leaves my room and I go to bed and get as much rest as I can. I'm going home in an hour or two, I want some rest, before I talk to Max.
Holy shit I'm done the chapter! I have been working on this for the past week or two! I haven't written in my other stories because I knew I had to get this one finished and up! BUT I HAVE SO MUCH TO TELL YOU! Vaca was awesome I had so much fun! My birthday was so awesome I had some awesome friends over! Also my cousin has been over like twice a week for like 2 days HAHA So like 4 days of the week so I don't get much writing in. ALSOOO I finished If I stay and holy shitballs it was sooooo good and soo cute you all HAVE TO READ IT! I can't wait to see the movie with my cousin OH MY GOOODDDDD! yeah anyway!
