badly-knitted that actually shocked me when I was listening to the commentary on 'Everything Changes' they were talking about that scene where Owen dates rapes a woman (later her bloke as well) as being very funny. Allegedly the part of 'Ghost Machine' where Owen witnesses and experiences the rape and murder of Lizzie was written in an effort to redeem his character for the audience, because they reacted so negatively his dating raping of people. Pity RTD and Julie Gardner were so in love with Gwen Cooper (both have said in interviews that they consider Gwen a representation of themselves) they didn't let any redeeming character development she went through stick.
P.S I forgot to tell you this (actually I thought better of it, and now have thought better of that decision), when you mentioned 'rooting for Gwen' the childish part of mind snickered and then commented that 'Owen sure did root for Gwen'. For the record in Australia the word 'root' has the same slang meaning as 'shag' does in the UK.
