A/N: Thank you all so much for your amazing reviews! They always make me want to update faster, and trust me, I do usually start on the next chapter right away but life gets so busy sometimes that I get a little writers block and may come back to it a week later if that makes sense lol. But thank you all so much for still finding this story interesting! It really means a lot. Hope you all enjoy this chapter =) xoxo.
Breakdowns….
Break downs happen tend to happen when in a state of distress and losing control of one's emotions. They were normal and expected and let everyone have that moment of vulnerability that's needed to put you back in the right direction.
Bonnie Bennett's thoughts were immersed with the breakdown she had last night when her eyes shot opened almost violently. When Damon Salvatore surprised her by appearing in Mystic Falls, after a voicemail she deemed pathetic; everything she had been holding in since she got back from her Thanksgiving vacation poured out, causing her to find comfort and cry in his arms. She honestly felt ridiculous breaking down to him after he spent so many months counseling her and getting her back on the right path to recovery. She essentially felt like she was letting him down and wasted so much of his time after she confessed to him that she still had a few stashes left at her house. But too her surprise, there wasn't an ounce of resentment crossing Damon's features, just a look of understanding.
"How'd you sleep?" His voice pulled her out of her thoughts, and that's when she realized she was in his bed. She remembered the sky opening up last night, ruining all of their hard work on the festival, coming back to the boarding house, and falling asleep on Damon's lap downstairs in front of the fire place.
But to answer Damon's question, she slept really good, and a lot of that had to do with him. "The best sleep I've had in awhile." She admitted. "Your bed is really comfortable, but last thing I remember we fell asleep on the couch."
"I wasn't going to miss a chance to carry you bridal style to my bed." He winked, as he closed his laptop and walked over to her.
"Look, I know I said it a lot last night, and I am really glad you came." Her fingers unconsciously intertwined with his, and he found himself slightly massaging them.
"I feel a but coming in there somewhere."
She smiled, "But, I know you have a lot of work to do, and plus it was completely stupid of me to call you, when it was something I could have handled all on my own."
He did have a lot of work to do, being out for a week and leaving the company in the hands of other board members was a stupid move. After firing one and suspending another it was total chaos, but he and Elijah were good at what they did and were able to handle it.
But no matter how busy he might have been, it wouldn't have stopped him from coming to see Bonnie and while he was here, he had every intention of convincing her to come back with him. They may have not been a couple yet, but hell he had to admit he missed her as soon as he stepped out of his Colorado home. So, when he checked his voicemail and heard the pain in her voice, he nearly dropped everything in his umpteenth board meeting that day, and got on his private jet to the small town he hadn't stepped foot in, in years. He had plans to arrive at her house, but when he got wind that the whole town was at one of their annual festivals, he was glad he tried their first.
"Trust me, I didn't mind coming. Plus, I haven't been back in Mystic Falls since Stefan was young, so seeing this place again is…well…" He really couldn't continue, because he didn't care for Mystic Falls. "Let's just say, it helps owning a company because you can come and go as you please."
Bonnie found herself smiling and when their eyes connected for a moment, she immediately brought up a new subject, "How is Stefan by the way? I haven't had a chance to just call him and…"
"He's okay. He'll bounce back." Damon's response was instant; obliviously a hint of annoyance engulfed him at Bonnie's automatic worry for his younger brother; especially when they were sharing a moment. When he realized that he did sound a bit harsh and saw the look on her face, he changed his tune. "Stefan's strong; one of the strongest people I know. He'll get through it." And it was true.
When Stefan informed him about the break up, Damon was instantly mad at Katherine's twin, because he couldn't stand when his brother was hurt. He knew how much love he had for that girl and Stefan had never really been serious in that way about anyone in his life. They were actually a lot alike in that department.
"I hope so. I saw his face… how broken he looked. And I know what Elena did was bad, but seeing her broken as well. It's just one big mess." Bonnie didn't condone cheating, but hell, she couldn't judge Elena and the decision she made, especially after everything she went through. She knew the way Stefan made Elena feel. She knew the way Elena made Stefan feel. So, there was that part of her that really hoped her friends found their way to each other again.
Even though Damon did feel bad for his brother, he didn't come to Mystic Falls for him and his ex to be the sole purpose of their conversation, so he made a point to change the subject. "Think anymore about moving up to New York? You'd make Rebekah really happy."
Bonnie smirked, "I'm sure it wouldn't just make Rebekah happy."
"Klaus has taken a liking to you as well." His response was immediate as he moved a little closer.
She rolled her eyes with a laugh. "I'm sure. Be honest, it would make Marcel enthused to have me there. Maybe if he'd ask it would get me to come."
His face fell a little at her joke, "Did I mention that Marcel has taken his liking to men. You wouldn't be his type."
"I'm sure I could change him back."
Was it wrong and weird that he felt jealous yet amused by her sense of humor all at the same time? Yeah, this girl really had an affect on him. "I guess I have to put Marcel on my shit list."
"Besides, I still have a lot to work out with Grams and my parents." And it wasn't just them, after the incident with Tyler; she had every reason to believe he told Caroline, because she called her several times last night, so she knew that she would have to deal with them eventually.
When Bonnie told Damon about Tyler, anger wasn't the word to describe how Damon felt. You never tell anyone that there is no hope for them, especially a recovering addict. He was surprised Bonnie held it together after that, because anyone would have fallen off the wagon. Idiot.
"I have an idea," Damon laid back, rested his hands behind his head and propped his feet up. "Since it doesn't look like its going to slack up on the rain. You might as well enjoy the day here with me."
She mimicked his move. "I'm glad you said that because I really don't want to face the outside world right now."
"Good, because I wasn't planning on letting you leave anyway."
"I figured," she then cuddled into him.
Having Bonnie cuddle into him, made his male anatomy stiffen and he had to concentrate on something else just to keep his flag from flying all over the place.
"Damon?" Her soft voice brought him back down to earth."Do you think what he said was true? Do you think there isn't any hope left for me?"
When he looked down at her, his blue orbs met green. "I believe there's all the hope in the world for you, but it's not my opinion that matters. Do you believe there is any hope for you?"
"I want too... I think I made it too far to go back to being that person."
That was something they both had in common.
One week…
One week was all it took for Damon to convince Bonnie to move to New York. It wouldn't be just yet, but after Katherine's wedding, the arrangements would be made. She and Rebekah would share an apartment, and since Bonnie wasn't a moocher she would get a job working at Rebekah's boutique starting out. Damon automatically offered her a job, but she wouldn't allow herself to work for someone she was seeing, because she didn't want anyone to think she was getting favored.
One week was also all it took for Bonnie and Damon's relationship to grow. They learned more about one another than they thought possible. And even though they were taking it slow, slower than Damon would have liked, it felt right… normal. To gain a friendship first with someone was very new to Damon and he had to admit he never saw it coming and… he liked it.
And leaving her even though he would be seeing her in a few weeks was almost excruciatingly difficult.
When they stepped out of Bonnie's Prius and looked ahead at Damon's private jet, Bonnie wanted to be the girl to ask him to stay until Katherine's wedding and she also wanted to be the girl to just forget her belongings and go with him and come back for them later. But, she had a lot to do before making the big move.
Like tell Caroline and Elena. She told her Grams during the week and though she was somewhat okay with it, she was still skeptical about having her leave with a guy; even if she would be staying with Rebekah and even if her Grams did take a liking to Damon when she had him over for dinner. That night turned out better than Bonnie expected. Sheila adored Damon and Damon got rid of the rest of Bonnie's stash. It was almost scary how he could walk in her room and point out where everything was.
"Now, you're not going to call me later and back out on me about New York are you?" His arms were around her waist the moment they stepped out of the car.
Bonnie smiled, "No, I've already told Rebekah, so she would probably kill me or yank me by my hair and bring me up there."
As they stood there for a moment, reflecting on the week they spent together, Damon couldn't help but want to kiss her. "Look, Bonnie, I know we've been keeping it slow, but…"
And before he could say anything else, Bonnie's lips were on his. It was quick and for a moment she didn't realize that it had ended because his lips were back on hers. His tongue danced with hers and her body became flushed against his. She felt stupid for holding out for so long, if this was what she was missing.
When they finally came up for air, Bonnie's voice came out as a raspy whisper, "That's how our first kiss should have been."
Damon agreed as he captured her lips once more and before Bonnie realized it; her back was against her Prius.
Yes, Damon was going to be late to his meeting and he couldn't care less.
Karma.
After everything Rebekah had done in her life she believed that this was her karma. Sitting here in a hospital gown as her physician went over her condition, made her really reflect on how she's lived her life for the past 24 years. If she hadn't got mixed up in drugs and fell for a complete imbecile, her two brothers would be alive and maybe, just maybe she wouldn't have a heart condition that required a transplant, to which she couldn't even be put on the list until she was a year sober from the alcohol and drugs she let consume her life.
Her doctor had her on medication but if she didn't get a new heart in a couple of years she was going to die. And one year was already taken away from her due to her past discretions. And as many people who were already on the transplant list, she really should start counting her options and writing a will. Her doctor could have a positive attitude all she wanted, informing her that everything would work out and that she was one of the strongest people she knew. But Rebekah could only be strong for so long. And she could only hide her condition from her family and friends for so long before she started getting worse, or in her mind, before she dropped dead.
Whichever came first.
She was upset and angry. How could this be her life? She thought she already went through the most traumatic experience of her life and now… now she wouldn't be able to begin again? She could die before she really began on her career as a fashion designer and even though she had her little boutique, she wanted more. How would she be able to leave her brothers behind when they already lost so much? Elijah, Nik, Damon, Stefan, Marcel… she couldn't put them through that. And Bonnie? How could she leave Bonnie behind when they just met; she was like the sister she never had.
And that's when she came to the decision that she wouldn't tell them… she couldn't; not yet. But she deserved this. All the bad she did. All the problems she caused… she deserved this. Right?
Weeks later
Stupidity…
That was the only word Bonnie could think of as she put her suitcase in Tyler's trunk and got into the passenger seat. As soon as she did, he sneezed, causing her to sneeze.
"Next time we try to relive our childhood by doing a water gun fight in the snow, remind me how sick we got when we were kids." Bonnie's voice came out raspy and if Tyler wasn't sitting right next to her, he wouldn't have heard her.
"You'd think with age we would have gotten a bit wiser." Tyler's voice was worse.
After gathering at the Lockwood's for Christmas Dinner yesterday, Bonnie, Caroline, and Tyler decided to relive one of their childhood memories of a water gun fight. It started in the house until Carol Lockwood and Sheila Bennett scolded them for acting like children in the house, and why they took it outside was beyond them. Because even though they were covered up, the snow still touched the earth, causing it to be dangerously cold.
The only people that were missing from their little water gun war were Matt and Elena who would have been right there along with them but the Gilberts went to New York early to spend Christmas with the Mikaelson's since they would all be family soon, and Matt….
Bonnie quickly erased the thought from her mind before her emotions took over.
If the private jet that The Mikaelson's provided wasn't set to come here for today then Bonnie would have much preferred to stay in her bed while her Grams cared for her and brought her soup. But it wasn't just that; if they waited one more day to get there, Katherine would probably have all of their heads. Especially Bonnie who was in the bridal party.
As they were driving to go pick up Caroline, Bonnie leaned into Tyler's shoulder and closed her eyes as the heat from the car engulfed her body. She was tired, cold, and a little cranky and the tea she kept sipping on did not soothe her throat like she wanted.
As Bonnie rested on Tyler's shoulder, she couldn't help but think about the talk they had a few days after Damon left.
Past- Few weeks ago.
Grams was out and Bonnie was watching movies, trying to keep warm, when she heard a knock at the door. When she saw that it was Tyler, she definitely considered not opening the door, because his words still hurt her.
But when she finally opened it, the awkward and uncomfortable feeling was not missed by either of them.
"Can we talk?" He broke the silence.
Bonnie nodded, grabbed her coat and stepped outside, where they took a seat on her porch.
"What I said… I didn't… I didn't mean it Bonnie." Tyler never really did apologies. He had been a dick all through high school and a bit through college and never once apologized for it, but what he said to Bonnie was uncalled for, and he regretted it whole heartedly.
"Then why did you say it?" There was a hint of irritation in her voice but the majority of it held sadness.
"I guess when I saw the coke I just freaked. You went through a lot and I didn't want that to happen again."
"Well Tyler, what you said isn't something you say to a recovering addict."
They stayed silent again, and when Bonnie looked over at Tyler she noticed the tears in his eyes. Tears she rarely saw from her male best friend.
"Matt was like a brother to me…" His words came out soft; barely there, but Bonnie could practically feel the emotion coming off of him. "The fact that you both went through something and I didn't try as hard to put a stop to it…." His voice caught in his throat as he tried to block himself from crying, but it was no use. Matt meant the world to him. Bonnie meant the world to him. And maybe…maybe he never really got a chance to fall apart because he was always holding it together for Caroline and Elena. "I was too full of myself, not wanting to see what was right in front of me…and now…" He couldn't hold it together anymore, "Now he's gone… Matt's dead and we almost lost you. And I can't lose you Bonnie." His eyes connected with hers and the tears were visible in her eyes.
He grabbed onto her hands gently, and she added a squeeze providing comfort to both of them. "It's hard surviving without Matt…sometimes I don't think… sometimes I don't think I can." His words were lost as he began to cry harder and Bonnie wrapped him in a hug. She tried her best not to cry as well; trying to be strong for the both of them. "I can't be in a world where you don't exist either, Bonnie."
His words touched her more than he knew.
"I'm not going anywhere Tyler," She whispered, "I promise you."
Present
"We're here." Tyler's voice brought Bonnie out of her thoughts.
Tyler immediately regretted honking the horn when they pulled up to Caroline's house, because both of their heads were killing them.
Caroline was out of the house before they realized it, and after she put her items in the trunk, she climbed into the back seat and laid down. She tried to talk but her voice was worse than Tyler and Bonnie's combined.
"If I didn't…. Jeremy… I …not…. Be going." That's all they could hear, but they were able to decipher the rest.
After the many texts from Elena, Rebekah, and Damon in today alone, Bonnie knew if they didn't go, heads would roll. She even received a text from Stefan today and that was the first time she had talked to him since he made a surprise visit only hours after Damon left back to New York.
Past- a few weeks ago.
"Stefan?" Bonnie was surprised to find Stefan Salvatore sitting on her porch. After she was finally able to let Damon leave, she ran a few errands and made her way back home. Seeing Stefan here in Mystic Falls was definitely not expected. Especially after everything that had happened.
When his eyes met hers she could see the ounce of pain that was still visible over Elena. And when he stood up and wrapped her in a hug, Bonnie could easily smell the booze radiating throughout his pours.
"Stefan, what are you doing here?"
"I came down to get a few things from the boarding house and thought I would stop by."
"Not that I'm not happy that you're here, because I'm really glad you are, but Damon just left, you couldn't ask him to bring your things?"
"You remind me of Rebekah; I can never get anything past her either." He slurred his words.
When they sat down, Bonnie broke the silence that had fallen among them. "You want to tell me why you're sitting on my porch, with breath that could get me intoxicated, because I don't think it was to get your things." Bonnie was just glad her Grams wasn't home right now.
"Elena called me 14 times today."
Bonnie wasn't surprised. After Katherine left, Elena decided to go back to Whitmore and get started on some class work for her last semester to keep her mind busy. She would call Bonnie and Caroline every other day and text practically every day, so she should have guessed when she hadn't heard from her today, that she was either engrossed in her books or blowing up Stefan's phone.
And the latter won.
"Every time she called I wanted to pick up… to hear her voice, but how would that make me look. Going back to the girl that cheated on me?" He paused for a moment, trying to collect himself from the alcohol that was taking affect. "Katherine told me she was at Whitmore, so I thought maybe I could come down here and see her instead of returning her calls, and I don't know I just bypassed and came here. I couldn't see her yet. I want to forgive her, but…what do I do Bonnie?"
You could definitely tell that Damon and Stefan were brothers. It must be nice having a private jet to come and go as you please, she thought, but then focused her attention right back to Stefan.
"It has to be your decision, not because of me, not because of Elena. It has to be you. If you love her and want to go back to her and rebuild that trust, then do it. But if you don't think you could ever trust her again, then don't put yourself through that… don't put her through that, because you will both just continue to suffer. I know you will probably hate me for saying this because I hate when people say this, but give it time. I love Elena… she's pretty much my sister, but she's an adult who knew what she was doing. In the end she realized that it was an awful mistake and we all make awful mistakes. But if you don't want to answer her call, don't answer her call. If you do, then do. But don't lead her on. Don't go to her one minute to relive what you two had and then the next minute you want to truly end it." She then grabbed his hand, "And don't do anything when you're drunk either. Truth and lies come out and you may not be able to decipher which ones which."
Bonnie's words hit Stefan like a ton of bricks. Yes, the alcohol in his system had a big influence, but she was right. After a moment he pulled her into a hug, "Thank you, Bonnie. I'm glad I came to see you."
"No problem." She smiled. It was always good seeing Stefan. "I'm glad you came too."
They stayed in the hug for a moment, and when they pulled apart Stefan's lips were on hers.
Bonnie's eyes widened as she quickly pulled away.
"I'm sorry." Stefan quickly apologized.
"We'll blame that on the alcohol because I'm with your brother, you're still in love with my best friend, and you're vulnerable and not thinking clearly right now."
Stefan was glad Bonnie stayed calm about the situation, because anyone else would have probably had a bitch fit.
"You're good for him you know?" Stefan admitted after another awkward silence.
"He's good for me too." She smiled.
Present.
As medicated as Bonnie, Caroline, and Tyler were, they slept through their trip to New York and still all three of them felt worse upon waking up.
When they stepped out of the private jet into the cold night New York air, a driver was waiting for them, and so was Elena. She knew that they were sick, but she had no idea that they were that bad.
"Guys, Katherine may kill all of you." And she wasn't joking. Katherine had been a straight hell beast planning for her wedding, that if Elena didn't get out of that house soon she was either going to quit the wedding or intentionally ruin it.
"If we don't die from this cold first." Tyler's voice betrayed just how bad they were, as they all got into the car.
"Well, I brought you all tea." Elena smiled, handing them their tea, as the driver began to drive to their destination.
All three of them were skeptical at first, eyeing each other. Elena couldn't cook and yes, this wasn't food, but still… Elena couldn't cook.
Bonnie smelled it a little, glad that Elena didn't see. When she took a sip she almost spit it up. How can someone mess up tea? If Caroline could speak she would have told her how horrible it was.
"Thank you, Elena…" Bonnie spoke up before Tyler could say anything since his voice was still audible.
"I can't wait until you guys see this place… castle isn't the word."
Elena was right; the Mikaelson Mansion was a castle. And arriving at night couldn't have looked more magical. The lights on the outside heightened the look of the 'castle' and the fountain out front, and if it weren't for the cold air that filled everyone's lungs upon getting out of the car, none of them would have gone inside.
But if they all didn't want to catch pneumonia and three of them were very close, they made their way inside. Everyone's breath caught in their throats; even Elena who had already been here for a week. Beautiful wasn't the word to describe this place.
Upon walking in, Rebekah was walking down the stairs.
"Bons! Great! You all are here!" She practically ran down the stairs, and when she noticed Bonnie, Caroline, and Tyler's facial features, she frowned a little. "Are you all okay?"
"Just a little under the weather…" Bonnie's voice sound everything but.
"A little? Love, you sound like death."
Before anything else could be said, Katherine, Marcel, and Jeremy walked in.
"Bonnie B!" Marcel was about to pull her into a hug, but she put her hands out, stopping him.
"Sorry, I don't want you to catch anything."
"Catch what exactly?" Katherine asked, upon hearing Bonnie's voice.
Katherine then looked between Bonnie, Tyler, and Caroline and noticed how they looked. "My wedding is in a week and you all did that water gun shit didn't you?"
"Without me," Elena pouted a little, causing Katherine to roll her eyes.
Caroline tried to say something but nothing was heard and Katherine immediately had an internal fit. Thank God, for all of the rooms and wings in this place because she did not want them anywhere near anyone until they got better.
She was back; back in the place where she felt weightless… pure.
"Bonnie…." Matt's voice entered her ears and she immediately wrapped him into a hug.
The tears came, but that was expected.
"You guys having a water gun fight without me, I'm hurt." He smiled.
"Well, us being sick makes up for it." She then found her hand intertwined with his. "You have to tell me, Matt, is this real or am I just dreaming?"
"Like I said before Bons, it's whatever you want it to be; if you want it to be real then its real."
"But how can it be, because when I wake up you're not there with me."
"I'm always there with you, Bons." He then kissed her forehead, and the tears continued to leave her eyes. "You know it's okay to be with Damon, right? You don't have to feel bad… you don't have to second guess yourself. I'm not going to come back and fight the guy or anything." He joked, and it caused a small smile to form on her lips.
"I just… I just wish…"
His forehead touched hers, "I know…"
Bonnie woke up in the middle of the night coughing. Even though she knew that the dream she had of Matt was in fact just a dream, she couldn't help but feel like he was actually talking to her beyond the grave or something. It was a crazy thought, but if it helped her get through losing him, then she would continue to hold onto that thought.
As she turned over to grab her box of tissues, she moved right into Damon, who was sleeping soundly. Well that's what she thought, as she reached over him and grabbed the tissues.
"How are you feeling?" His eyes opened slightly. If it weren't for the moonlight peeping through the curtains they wouldn't be able to see each other.
"A little better," Her voice betrayed at how worse she sound.
"It doesn't sound like it." he said, turning on the lamp and handing her the box of tissues. "When you told me you were a little under the weather, I didn't think you would need to be hospitalized."
"I don't need to be hospitalized. This is nothing and I didn't want you to worry." She blew her nose. "And you shouldn't be in here; I don't want you to get sick."
"I'll be okay." He gave her a kiss to which she immediately pulled away.
"Damon!" Even though she didn't want him to catch anything, his lips on hers for just a quick moment was earth shattering "Katherine already has me, Tyler, and Caroline quarantined in rooms far away from everyone else. I don't want you to feel her wrath either."
Damon had to admit, Katherine was a bit of a Bridezilla. And that was the only reason he tried his best to stay far away from the Mikaelson Manor until Bonnie came.
He then kissed her forehead, and she cuddled into him. "Well, I tried to warn you, but if you get sick, then don't blame me, because I'm not moving."
He put his arm and leg around her, making sure he brought her warmth. "Good."
Damon Salvatore hated board meetings. If his father didn't entrust him to take over Salvatore Industries then he wouldn't be in his second one today. Yes, he could initially not make it to some, but how would that look when they needed his final approval on everything.
But his mind was nowhere near this meeting. His mind was on the woman who he shared a bed with last night. A woman who he hadn't stopped thinking about, and had grown closer too than almost anyone in just a few months. And a woman to whom he almost gave a big fuck you to these meeting, just to stay in and spend time with her.
A long three hours later, the meeting was over and Damon and Elijah headed back to his office to have lunch and go over paperwork.
"I still can't believe that in one more week you will be a married man." Damon bit into the burger he had been anxiously waiting to tear into.
"Time flies when you're in love." Elijah commented. Damon almost forgot he was a bit of a sap. "Are you sure you're going to be able to handle all of this while I'm gone, and by handle, I mean actually pay attention in these meetings and go to them." Damon may have been President and good at what he did, but Elijah being Vice President sometimes had to add fuel to Damon to keep him in line.
"We'll just not have any until you come back."
Elijah shook his head, "So, I'm guessing you're distraction has to do with the lovely Ms. Bennett."
Was he that obvious?
"Do I see wedding bells in your future?"
"Way too soon to ask that question. Bonnie and I are taking things slow."
"Which is a first."
It definitely was. Damon didn't really know the true definition of blue balls until he met Bonnie. Helping himself wasn't really working anymore. And just holding her last night while she was sick, helped absolutely nothing. But beyond that, what they had was new and different and he enjoyed it… he enjoyed her. He was never one to Skype or talk on the phone, but he found himself doing that with Bonnie almost every day after he left Mystic Falls a few weeks ago. He was able to confide in her and she did the same with him.
"To be honest," And Damon wasn't really one to confide about his personal life; even if it were to his brothers. They knew him as a guy who liked to fuck and never had any real time to settle down or care too. "There's something about her that, I don't know… she's different. She's been through so much shit and yet she still views the world with open eyes."
"She sounds just like you in that department."
"It's just different. Being away from her right now is making me feel… I don't know. Makes me feel like you or Stefan or some shit." He took another bite of his burger.
Elijah could already see what was happening, even if Damon couldn't.
Bonnie was only around Katherine for an hour today and she already wanted to ring her neck, but it was obvious she would have to get behind a long line of not only her best friend that shared the same face as the nuisance, but her two blonde best friends, her cousin and her girlfriend, and Vicki.
Bridezilla wasn't even the word to describe Katherine right now.
She and Caroline thought they would have got an out due to being ill, but Katherine at least wanted their presence for an hour, just far away from everyone else. Bonnie was just so glad the Gilbert parents took Katherine to dinner in the city, trying to alleviate some of the stress that were all put on the girls.
While Elijah and Damon were at work, the rest of the guys made themselves scarce throughout the day, which was lucky for them.
Even though Caroline's voice was coming back she still struggled as she spoke to Elena. "I love you, Elena, I do, but I'm not even in this wedding, and she's driving me crazy."
"Yes, but you volunteered to help, miss event planner."
"Remind me why I wanted to do that again." She rolled her eyes, "I'm going back to my room to lay down." She immediately brought her phone out to text Jeremy to see where he was.
Before Bonnie went back to her room to soak in a nice hot bath, she made her way to Rebekah's room.
"Remind me if I get like that at my wedding to punch me," Rebekah said, letting her in.
Bonnie already knew that Rebekah would probably be like Katherine when planning her wedding, so she opted not to agree.
Walking into Rebekah's room, Bonnie stared in awe. It was practically the size of her house.
"I hope you feel better soon, love, because it's taking every ounce of me not to strangle her." Spending all day with Katherine made her want to go to Elijah to reconsider what he wanted with his future, but she had to take a few steps back because it was her wedding and she could understand wanting it to be perfect.
"With Damon's soup and the Nyquil I took, I'll probably be knocked out in another hour."
"Ah yes, the Salvatore famous soup. You all will be better in no time then."
"Bexs, I just can't get over how beautiful this place is. I can't believe you grew up here. It must have been nice." She couldn't help but walk around admiring everything. "Are you sure you want to leave all this to get an apartment in the city with me?"
When Rebekah didn't answer, Bonnie looked over to her and noticed a change in her demeanor. She also noticed the tears in her eyes.
Immediately Bonnie sat down in front of her, "Hey what's wrong?"
"I just have a lot on my mind." Rebekah sniffed, trying not to let tears escape her eyes.
"You know you can talk to me, right?"
"I know," With everything they went through at the rehabilitation center together, they could open up to each other about anything. "If I tell you something, you have to promise not to say anything."
"I promise."
"Swear it, Bonnie. This is really important, and I don't want anyone to know right now."
"You know I wouldn't say anything." Bonnie was trying her best not to show how scared she was about what Rebekah was about to tell her.
Rebekah got up, went into her bathroom, and came back with a pill bottle in her hand. "I have a heart condition, Bonnie."
Bonnie looked at the bottle of pills and then back to Rebekah, trying her best to understand what she was hearing.
"And these pills somewhat help me. I need a heart transplant, but because I'm a recovering addict I can't be put on a list right now."
"What does that mean?" Bonnie knew exactly what it meant, but she didn't want to believe it… she couldn't.
"I may not be around for too much longer, Bonnie. "
A/N: Thank you all for reading! I really hoped you all enjoyed this chapter =) I will say that the next chapter will be Katherine's wedding. I know I said there will be more flashbacks and trust me there will and it won't just be from Bonnie, but I don't want to rush where this story is going to go even though I already have some major scenes planned out. But again, I hope you all enjoyed & please review with your thoughts! Xoxo =)
