Don't hate me. I know it's been a while *cough* a year...but better late than never. Honestly, I was just waiting for someone to send me a story about their cat. It never came. But onwards we go. I promise I will finish this story!

Chapter 5

The movie was nearing some of the most suspenseful parts, but Aubrey couldn't seem to pay attention. Which was weird because this was one of her favorite scary movies. Instead, she kept finding herself looking over at the smaller woman throughout the film. Currently, the brunette was hiding half of her face in Aubrey's side. Not that she was complaining. Which again, weird.

Unable to stop herself, Aubrey nudged the tiny woman with her elbow and whispered, "Hey short stack, you alright there?"

Beca just nodded her head, enthralled in the film in front of her, before cowering further into Aubrey's side. The chuckle that came from the older woman pulled the brunette from the movie and she looked up at the other girl's amused face.

"What?" She whispered up in mock anger.

The blonde cracked a small smile. "Nothing, I just didn't have you pegged as the cute tiny girl who hides behind blankets and people's arms at the big scary tv."

Aware that her reputation was at stake, Beca wiggled her way up and sat a little taller so that her face was almost aligned with Aubrey's. "I am not!"

Aubrey's smile just grew and she continued to tease the girl, "Who knew you were so adorable."

Not quite sure how to react, Beca just stared blank faced at the older woman. Did she just call me cute and adorable?

With their faces just mere inches apart, Aubrey couldn't help herself but think back to before they started the movie. "Hey Becs, what were you thinking about earlier?"

Confused, Beca quirked an eyebrow.

"Before, I was talking about not being around at Bella rehearsals and you kinda just zoned out and stared at me." Aubrey hesitated before continuing on. "And you were making these faces at me like…" She sighed and decided that it was a stupid thought. "I dunno, just never mind."

Beca looked at the older woman who was looking down at her hands, suddenly appearing so unsure of herself. After a moment's hesitation, Beca moved her hand to Aubrey's face and brought it up to look at her. Suddenly it was if all the air had been sucked out of the room and the brunette couldn't help but be drawn to the older woman. Stopping with only a few millimeters between the two girls, Beca glanced down at the blonde's lips and looked back up to her eyes, trying to understand what was happening. Before Beca's mind could catch up to what was going on, Aubrey had closed the gap between the two of them, her lips desperately seeking Beca's.

The blonde pulled back slightly after a few seconds, but was quickly chased by Beca who wanted more. Hands found torsos and arms in a mad disarray as the brunette moved to straddle Aubrey. A throaty moan escaped the former Bells as Beca moved her focus to Aubrey's neck and to her pulse point. Unable to relinquish complete control, Aubrey ran her hands down Beca's back and then up her shirt. She smirked when the brunette moaned at the older woman's use of nails. Aubrey flipped the girl onto the couch and was about to begin an assault of her own, when the jiggle of the lock on the front door made Beca jump up like a spring.

Before Aubrey could register what was going on, Beca was up and collecting her things, while straightening her shirt and hair. Turning to face the blonde, Beca quickly ran her hand through the older woman's hair and wiped the lipstick she had left on the blonde's face.

As the front door opened, Beca scuttled forward and made her way to leave. As soon as Chloe was through the front door, the brunette threw out a "Hey, I'll catch you later Red." And made her way out of the apartment.

Finally registering that Beca had quickly upped and left, Aubrey jumped up from her spot on the couch and followed. "Beca, wait up!"

She jogged past Chloe at the front door and followed Beca to the elevator, where she had already gotten in. Before the doors could close, the younger woman sent a reassuring smile. "I'll catch you later Bree. Thanks for your help."

"Yea," The blonde ran a hand through her hair, obviously unsure of herself. "Anytime short stack."

The doors to the elevator closed and Aubrey took a second to understand what had just happened. I kissed Beca. Beca, the little annoying alt girl who annoys the heck out of me. I kissed her…and she likes Chloe, my best friend. Who is standing at the front door because she nearly walked in on me and Beca kissing…more like going at it. Oh god what have I done. It's fine, Beca likes Chloe and I don't like girls. It was just a weird moment. Right? Oh god oh god, don't puke. Just breathe. In. Out. In. Out.

Having calmed down a bit, Aubrey made her way back to her shared apartment and walked through the open front door. Chloe was still standing by the entry way with a confused look on her face.

"What the heck just happened?" Chloe asked, unsure of whether she was more hurt or angry. Instead of choosing an emotion, the redhead just stood there with her hand on her hips and a blank look in her face.

"I think I just scared the crap out of Beca," Aubrey thought how true that was before she continued, "by making her watch one of the movies in my scary movie collection."

Chloe turned her head and looked at the tv screen where there was in fact a scary movie playing and then back at her roommate. Still unsure, but not willing to press the issue, she nodded. "Okay, well I'm gonna head off to bed."

Still trying to wrap her head around the steamy make out session she had just had with the last person she ever thought was possible, Aubrey just nodded. "Kay. Oh wait, how did your date go?"

Chloe offered a small sad smile. "It was perfect." She turned to her room and opened the door before sighing and letting her smile drop, "He was perfect."

The bright early morning sun streaming through the window caused Beca to wake up with a groan. "Too early."

She rolled over and pulled her pillow over her head to block out the offending sun. Sighing in content she relaxed a bit and let her eye close in attempt to drift off to sleep. A sudden flash of the previous night ran through the tiny brunette's mind and she jolted up, causing her to tumble to the floor along with half of her sheets.

"Dang half pint! I've never seen you move so fast!" Amy called from the doorway of their second year dorm room.

Beca cursed as she tried to untangle herself from the bed sheets keeping her pinned to the ground.

"Why are you so grumpy this morning mate?" The aussie asked as she made her way over to her desk where she dumped her keys before turning back to her new roommate.

Grumbling more fowl words at the current situation and attempting to ignore the headache that was slowly growing on the back left of her head, Beca pulled herself up from the ground.

"Okaaaaay…." Her fellow Bella drew out the vowel undoubtedly making the situation even more awkward than it already was. "Well I'm going to crash seeing as how I didn't get much sleep last night. You know, too busy studying with numba four." Still nothing from the brunette. "Right, so when your bestie gets here, do you mind hanging out somewhere else so I can get some shut eye?"

Finally Beca's head shot up as Amy's words registered with her. "Wait what?"

"Yea dawg. As I was heading back here I saw your favorite old captain walking in this direction. It looked like she was on a mission. Only logical answer was that she was on her way here to see you."

Eyebrows scrunched on the brunettes face. Crap crap crap. Aubrey probably is coming over to flip out at me! Oh god she probably freaked last night after I kissed her. Or she kissed me...how did it even happen?! OH GOD. What if she told Chloe? Now Chloe probably thinks I'm into Bree and she'll never want to go out with me. No, worse she probably thinks I'm a freak and the two of them had a good laugh at my expense last night after I left. Beca began to pace back and forth, biting at her nails so she had something to do with her hands. Either way, one of them is definietly on their way over to tell me to stay away from them. And now they won't help with the Bellas, oh god how am I going to explain this to the Bellas?!

"Oye Beca! Earth to the short one!" Amy finally gave up as nothing was getting the small ones attention. Picking up her pillow she chucked it across the room at Beca's head, which finally caused the brunette to snap back to reality.

"Hey!" Beca shouted at Amy. "What the heck?"

The aussie rolled her eyes and shrugged. "I was trying to get your attention." She stated obviously, before pointing at the doorway. "You have a guest genius."

Beca picked up her roommate's pillow off of the ground and tossed it back over at the other girl's bed. Taking a deep breath in she chanced a glance over her shoulder at the entryway of their humble abode.

"Hey Red, what's up?" She tried at act casual and began to pick up her sheets from the ground and make her bed. In reality, Beca was internally freaking the flip out, hoping to whatever god there was that Chloe wasn't about to humiliate her and vow to never speak to her again.

The former Bella quirked her head at her friend making her bed; Beca never made her bed. She let out a sigh as she realized that things change and it was silly for her to assume she knew everything about the tiny brunette in front of her. "Not much. I was hoping maybe you'd be up for getting coffee?"

Dark blue eyes shot up to meet the hopeful bright blues standing a lot closer then Beca had realized.

"You don't have class right?" Chloe scrunched up her face. She hadn't though her friend had a class this morning. Had she messed up her days? The older girl was trying to remember if it was Monday-Wednesday-Fridays the sophomore had her 9:30 musical theory class or Tuesday-Thursdays. She could have sworn it was a Tuesday-Thursday class. A frustrated groan brought her attention back to the dorm room.

"Honestly you two!" Amy nearly yelled from her own bed. "It's not like Beca would pass up getting coffee with you even if she had class. So if you two don't mind, I'd like to catch some z's. Please relocate your awkwardness to somewhere else. Anywhere else. Love you both."

And with that the blonde flopped back onto her bed.

Beca chuckled softly and gathered her bag. "I think that's our cue to leave."

Chloe smiled a small smile and followed her out of the room. Glad that the brunette didn't seem totally put off from her random appearance at her dorm way before the DJ's normal wake up time of 11 am. That was certainly one of the things she had learned about the younger girl over the summer. Do not attempt contact before 11.

"Where to?" Beca turned to the older woman expectantly.

Shaking her head, Chloe led them down the hall and out of the building.

Beca sat down and took in the scene around her while the redhead waited to retrieve their drinks from the pickup counter. Seriously, how had she not known about the vast amount of things in the student center? True she tried to avoid all possible human contact last year in attempt to not become attached. Clearly that had worked out. Rolling her eyes, Beca snorted at her own musings.

"What's so funny DJ?" Chloe winked at her as she handed Beca her drink.

Unable to stop herself from blushing, the smaller girl turned her head and gestured around her and hoped her friend had missed the pink tinged across her face. "I had no clue any of this was here."

It was Chloe's turn to snort and roll her eyes. "I'm not surprised. I had to drag you out of your room to even attempt to get you to practices. I doubt you ever explored the campus beyond the station and your dorm room."

Beca quirked an eyebrow. "Hey there missy, have you been spending too much time around me? That sarcasm sounds odd coming from you."

"Not enough time." Chloe mumbled quietly, in a not so friendly tone. "Anyway, I thought you enjoyed back and forth banter?"

"What's that supposed to mean?" Beca wasn't sure which part of what the redhead had said threw her more, but she didn't mind which one the redhead answered for.

Chloe rolled her eyes again. Maybe the short brunette was rubbing off on her. "Never mind."

"Okaaaaay…" The pair remained in silence for a couple minutes as they sipped their beverages. "So was there any reason in particular you wanted to get coffee?"

Beca closed her eyes as she waited for the answer. She was really praying it had nothing to do with last night and what had happened between herself and her old captain. Since nothing had been said so far she figured she was in the clear, but then again, Chloe was acting a bit off. Beca knew the girl wasn't one to be rude and maybe she was trying to let the her down nicely…Bree told me about last night and we think it best if we just don't hang out with you so much, or really ever again… Beca squeezed her eyes tight before opening them back up to look across the table at her friend.

"Oh, uh, yea." Chloe sighed. Here it comes, Beca thought. "Bree told me about last night."

Beca's face fell as her heart dropped in her chest. This is why I don't let people in… "Yea?" she said weakly.

"Yea." A small smile washed over the older girls face before it sadly disappeared. "I think it's aca-awesome that you two were able to put aside your differences and work together for the sake of the Bellas."

"Yea…wait what?" Beca looked up confused.

"Don't worry, I won't tell anyone that badass Beca Mitchell actually got along with Aubrey Posen." The redhead chuckled. "Bree told me how you asked her for her advice yesterday after rehearsal on how to manage the team. I think it shows that you're a bigger person Becs. For you to put aside your differences with Bree for the betterment of the Bellas."

"Yea well apparently we don't have as many differences as we thought…" Beca mumbled.

"What was that?" Chloe inquired when she couldn't understand what her friend had said.

"Nothing!" She panicked and shout out.

"Well, anyway, I think it says something about you." The redhead glowed across the table, clearly proud at the younger girl…woman…girl… Chloe shook her head. Stop thinking about her as a woman…a mature, beautiful... Ugh just focus!

Beca stood form her chair as she looked at her watch, mumbling an awkward thanks in the process. "Hey not that I don't love you- I mean, love spending time with you Red, but I have my music theory class in 15 minutes and I have a start of semester quiz I don't want to miss."

Chloe looked down dejectedly. "Oh duh, right. Silly me. I don't want to hold you up. You have things to do, places to be."

Beca was turning to leave. "But I'll see you tonight right?"

"Right tonight. Our date night." Chloe nodded. "Of course, Becs!"

The brunette smiled. "Okay cool. Later nerd."

Beca made her way out of the building. She sighed as she leaned up against the wall right outside of the doorway and debated the pros and cons of attending her class. She really did have a quiz today, but she wasn't sure if she cared. The class was awesome so far, the DJ just wasn't sure if she'd be able to focus even if she went to class. After coming to the conclusion to skip class, since the quiz wasn't actually a graded piece, Beca made her way across the campus trying to clear her head and make sense of everything. A long walk was definitely what she needed.
