Okay so I've gotten quite a few responses that people want a Mitchsen endgame. And while I am 100% Bechloe, even I can see some chemistry here. Soooo when I'm finished this story, I might be able to be persuaded into writing an alternative ending to this story. But I need to finish this one first and require bribery in form of tacos (of course). Also I would like to note that I am mid writing this chapter and the feels from it made me stop and write this note…hopefully that says something about this chapter. What? I don't know. But it says something!

I feel like it's shorter this time...maybe there's more dialogue. Sorry, I just wanted to get it up asap because you all are so amazing and inspiring. Also it didn't make sense to have the next day in here. So it had to be separate (and that one will be waaaaay long).

PS. You might want to grab a tissue mwuahahaha *cough* I mean….sorry?

Chapter 8

The sound of the door clickling shut behind Beca was deafening. She silently prayed that the darkness of the room around her would swallow her whole. Of course Aubrey had already crossed the room and quickly switched on the lamp on her desk. Unsure of what to say or how to even begin to approach their conversation, Beca kept her eyes on anything accept the blonde with her arms folded across her chest standing just a few feet away from her. The awkwardness the brunette felt was sending waves and she was sure people in the building across the street could feel it.

"You have feelings for my best friend." Beca's eys snapped up in shock. This was not where she thought the conversation was going.

"I don't know….what…I mean yea she's my best friend…" Stuttering the brunette quickly shot her eyes away again, afraid that the older woman would be able to see in them that she was avoiding the whole truth.

A loud sigh sounded from across the room. "Look Beca…I'd like to think that we're friends, at least on some level."

"That's for sure." Beca mumbled as she played with a few pencils that were lying on the desk.

"Will you please come and talk to me like a grown adult!" Aubrey snapped. After a brief pause she let out a small sigh. "At least can you look at me while we talk?"

The sincerity in the woman's voice made Beca look up from where she was now fidgeting with an eraser she had found. The blonde in front of her looked tired and frustrated, but not in the way Beca was used to. She was used to a tired frustrated Aubrey at Bella's practice that would snap at her and yell at the girls, angry on the verge of vomiting. But this seemed different, like there was a factor of…caring?

Beca released the eraser from her grip and walked over to the older woman's bed. Lowering herself to the edge, she looked up at Aubrey standing next to her and patted the spot to her right indicating she wanted the woman to sit down.

"Alright Posen, I'll talk with you." Aubrey let out a sigh of relief. "But there are conditions…"

"Of course there are!" The blonde's hand flew up in disbelief. "Nothing is never simple with you! Honestly, from the time Chloe first saw you at the activities fair last year I knew you would be nothing but trouble! Why, why would this be any different? God you are so annoying! I don't know how Chloe puts up with you!"

After a moment of silence, Beca quirked her eyebrow at the blonde's rant. "Feel better?"

"Depends hobbit, what are your 'conditions'?" She grumbled.

"Look I just want to make sure that what we talk about right now stays between us," she motioned with her left between the two of them. At a nod from the blonde, Beca continued. "And then I don't want however this conversation goes to affect the Bellas. Hate me all you want after this, but if the other day proved anything I still need your guidance…your help…at least a little."

"Those are…actually reasonable." Aubrey stuck out her hand to shake upon it.

The tiny DJ rolled her eyes at the other woman's action and smirked. "What, we aren't going to kiss on it?"

A blush flushed across Aubrey's face and she mumbled, "see this is why I think you can't take anything seriously."

"Who says I'm not serious?" Beca winked at the older woman. It felt nice to be able flirt with someone and get such a response.

"Because I know you aren't." Her companion shook her head. "Because I know you love Chloe."

Beca's eyes went wide and her heart stopped for a moment. "I uh can't…Chlo and I…love?!"

A small chuckle met the brunette in response. "You're toner—sorry, your feelings are kind of obvious. I was personally a little shocked when you started dating Jesse. I mean, I guess you figured nothing would come of you and Chloe so you started seeing someone else…but really? A treble? Scratch that, a guy?!"

The tiny woman shot up from the bed in defense. "Hey, I didn't realize I was in love with Chloe when I started seeing Jesse!"

Shock crossed the younger woman's face as it hit her what she had just admitted out loud to none other than Aubrey Posen. "Shit!"

A smug looking blonde just watched as the realization passed over the DJ. Beca turned and looked worriedly at her friend still seated on the bed.

"Bree, really, I didn't. And no one, I repeat no one can know about this." She sat back down on the bed in defeat. "I just, I don't know what to do. I lik—love her. And I've tried getting over it. Trust me, I know nothing will ever come of my feelings. But I can't not be around her. She's my best friend. She's makes me feel confident, and comfortable to just be myself. And she's always there for me, even when I won't admit that I need it...she's just...Chloe."

"I'm sorry Beca." Aubrey placed her hand on the younger girl's thigh and patted it comfortingly. "You and I both know that Chloe…well she's just super friendly and has zero boundaries."

A small tear slid down the brunette's face as she played with a ring on one of her fingers. "Yea I know."

"I tried talking to her about it—"

Beca's head shot up in worry. "You did what!"

"Don't worry there short stack, I didn't mention your feelings or anything." The blonde's hand rose in defense, before running one of them through her hair. She knew this wasn't going to be easy for the younger woman, she just didn't realize how much it was gonna suck telling her. "I asked about how she feels about you…"

The tiny woman looked up at Aubrey hesitantly, unsure of whether she wanted to hear what was coming next.

"I can't deny that she's overly touchy feely with you compared to other people and she's like oddly possessive over you. Like obsessively possessive. So I brought it up once or twice just out of curiosity. I mean she's my best friend and she tells me everything and I mean everything. I thought maybe she wasn't telling me about potential feelings for you because she knew how we got along and didn't want to upset me or something."

The blonde took a breathe and looked up at the ceiling. She didn't want to go on but she knew that in order for the tiny DJ to move on she needed to hear the truth.

"Heck I even told her I'd ship the two of you like OTP style!" Beca quirked a questioning eyebrow at the woman's choice of word, a small smile threatening at the side of her mouth. "Shut up, Fat Amy may have rubbed off on me a bit."

Beca let out a chuckle at that. "Next thing you know, you're going to be mermaid dancing at the bar!"

Rolling her eyes the blonde continued. "Anyway, I…Beca, Chloe made it very clear to me that she doesn't...like you in that way. I'm really sorry. I tried to get something, but the best I can think is she's super possessive and protective of you because she sees you as...like the little sister she never had…"

Beca's breath stopped. It felt as if her heart had dropped into her stomach and the world was spinning around her. Sure, Chloe and her were never going to happen. She had been telling herself that for months now. But to hear that she saw her as…as a little sister. That's worse than being friend zoned. Beca shook her head, it felt like it was going to burst from the blow.

Bringing her knees up to her chest, Beca held them tight with her arms. Breathing slowly she tried to hold back the tears that were threatening to escape from her eyes. She knew this already, there was no reason to react this way. She had told herself these things on an almost daily basis. Any time she talked with Chloe, or they hung out, whenever Chloe would interlace their hands, or breathe into her neck during an excruciatingly long hug that she never wanted to end.

Yes, she already knew these things. She knew that Chloe was so far out of her reach and it was silly to even dream that there could be more between them, let alone have conscious thoughts about it. But why did it have to hurt so much!

A hand rubbing her back brought Beca back to the bedroom she was currently sitting in.

"Oh Beca, I'm so sorry." The brunette glanced up at the blonde's words. "I just figured you should know."

Beca shook her head and attempted to reply, but only managed to gasp for much needed air. Apparently she had started to silently sob and was unable to catch her breath. Unsure of how else to comfort the tiny mess in front of her, Aubrey wrapped the girl into her arms and whispered soothingly into her hair.

Neither of them knew how much time had passed as the two remained in the same position. Beca's breathing had finally evened out and her tears had slowed to a small occasional trickle. Gently, the blonde let go of the girl in her arms. Brushing some hair out of the brunette's face, Aubrey wiped a stray tear off the torn face.

"You going to be okay?"

Beca nodded her head with a small sniffle. "Yea…uh thanks."

"Not a problem." The older woman sat up taller. "Like I said before, I'd like to think we're friends."

The brunette chuckled and actually let out a small smile. "If you say so Posen."

Aubrey just rolled her eyes at the smaller girl. "And she's back ladies and gentlemen!"

"Hey Bree?" Beca's smile dropped and she became a little more contemplative.

"Yes?"

"About what happened between us the other day…and then earlier tonight…" The brunette started to play with her hands and snuck a peak up at her companion.

"Right…that…"

"Look I don't want you to think I was using you or anything like that. I mean, I've never actually kissed a girl before you and, wait, no I mean I wasn't trying to use you to see if I liked girls…I just, we were—"

"Beca, it's cool. It's good to know you weren't trying to use me to make Chloe jealous. Though if you were, I'd say you kinda failed since she wasn't around either time it happened." The blonde added the last part with a smirk.

The brunette quickly grabbed a pillow off the bed and catapulted it at the blonde. "Shut up!"

Aubrey caught the impeding bullet and let out a laugh, before she flopped onto the bed next to the younger woman. "But seriously, you've never kissed a girl before?"

"What! Why are you so surprised?" The tiny DJ rolled her eyes, of course she would pick on her for that.

"Your badass image would just suggest otherwise. I mean even I've had my fair share of fun with girls before. Also, your persona just kind of shouts 'I like women' to me." The blonde rolled onto her side on propped herself up on an elbow.

"My my Bree, if I didn't know any better, I'd say you've thought an awful lot about me." Beca gave the older woman a flirtatious wink as she positioned herself further onto the bed and leaned against the headboard, but quickly sat up straight. "WAIT. Did you just say…you've made out with girls before?!"

The blonde chuckled. "Smooth Mitchell." Rolling her eyes, Aubrey waved her free hand in front of her. "I'm not as uptight as you seem to think, just about serious stuff like school and extracurriculars. I do have fun you know and that does include fun with men…and women."

Beca lowered herself back to her previous sitting position as she took that information in. "Shit!"

"Clearly we have more in common than you originally thought."

"Yea dude." Beca looked down at her hands, hesitant to speak. Finally deciding she might as well put it out there, she spoke up. "So Bree we're good right? Like we're just friends. Good friends?"

Aubrey looked at the younger woman curiously. "Yes Beca…."

"Okay and the conditions stated earlier still apply right?"

"That's part of being friends short stack."

Beca nodded her head and looked up from her hands. "Okay…can I uh…ask you some questions then? I just, I've never really done the whole girl thing before and I thought maybe you could uh…"

The blonde let out a loud laugh. "Oh my god, badass Mitchell…you are not so badass right now!"

"Shut up." The tiny girl mumbled and blushed.

"Alright, I don't have to be anywhere in the morning. This sounds like it's going to be a late night." Aubrey stood up from her spot on the bed and made her way over to her dresser. Throwing shorts and a tshirt at woman still on the bed, she turned back. "I'm going to grab some water from the kitchen, if you want privacy to change do it now."

"And if I didn't want privacy?" Beca flirted back.

"HA, good one Mitchell." The older woman smiled from the doorway. "I'll be right back."

"Thanks Bree."

"No problem short stack. I'm sure you'll have tons of questions when I get back and I'll completely regret letting you stay over." She teased jokingly as she closed the door behind her.

Okay so now that that's out there...don't kill me! Like I said at the beginning of the chapter this version of the story will be bechloe so I need to lay the foundation of the Mitchsen friendship and not ship. (sorry). BUT that doesn't mean our redheaded friend wont be green with jealousy. As always I really love to hear what comes up for you. It makes me a better write (and a faster one too)!

Signing Off!
