Chapter 9

Chloe woke so the delicious smell of bacon wafting into her room. Lazily wiping the sleep from her eyes she rolled over and looked at her hello kitty alarm clock and contemplated going back to dreamland. To be honest she hadn't gotten much sleep the night before. Chloe thought back to the moment Aubrey and Beca retreated into her roommate's room. Pulling the covers over her head with a groan, the redhead mentally berated herself. How did you miss this? When did this happen? Doesn't matter, you missed your shot with her, idiot!

After the two had disappeared, Brad had tried to recommend they do the same and head to her room. But she really wasn't having any of that. Sure, he was a nice guy and definitely attractive, but after just finding out that your long time crush is potentially into girls! Chloe's mind was so far from the living room it had taken Brad nudging her with his knee to get her back to reality. At least he had been understanding. Or the redhead thought he was…she didn't know since he had apparently been talking to her and she had zoned out for all of it, "staring daggers at your roommate's door" as Brad had told her. He already had his jacket on and his keys in his hands as he told her he was leaving, it had been fun, but clearly they should just be friends.

Sighing, Chloe rolled onto her side and peaked her head out from under the covers. The picture on her side table stared back at her. More like glaring at me, she told herself as flashes of that day bombarded Chloe's mind.

The internal battle going on inside the redhead's mind was killing her. Chloe cared so deeply for the brunette, more than she had ever admitted to anyone - even her mom. Mom knows I at least have a crush on the adorable girl, just not how far gone I am…and at this point, what's the use, she's with someone…uggghhhh! she's with AUBREY!

Rolling her eyes at herself - at her own stupidity, Chloe rotated onto her back. She was so mad at Beca for not telling her these huge things; gay and into -scratch that- dating her roommate! Sure the tiny DJ was her best friend, had been since after their second Bellas practice last year. Chloe smiled at the thought.

"Hey short thang, whatcha up to?" The redhead bounded over to the tiny girl as was finishing packing up her bag at the end of practice.

"Thang?" Beca quirked an eyebrow at the older woman, a habit the redhead had already picked up on.

"Oh yea totes. You're like my mini boo thang. It's been decided." Chloe beamed at the younger girl as they began to make their way out of the auditorium. "Oh wait! Hold up, I have to lock up."

Chloe began to search through her backpack in attempt to find her keys. "I know they're in here somewhere." She mumbled as she began to shake her bag in attempt to locate the offending object. After another moment, Chloe triumphantly pulled her hand out of the bag clasping the ring of keys. Shoving them into the lock and turning them, she smiled when the door make a click noise. Turning back to head out, she came face to face with a very curious looking brunette.

"You sure do have a lot of keys there Red." Beca stated as she turned to walk away, glancing over her shoulder at the older woman expectantly.

It hit Chloe that the younger woman was waiting for her to walk with her. Throwing her bag over her shoulder, the red head jogged forward to catch up to the smaller, but apparently faster woman.

"I'm important peoples." The older Bella responded with a wink.

"Yea, I don't doubt yea." Beca refused to look anywhere except ahead of the pair as they walked through the quad. "I'm not your short and or mini thang."

"Whatever you say Becs." Chloe smiled in front of her, just happy to be having a conversation with the enrapturing woman.

"I'm badass. If anything you would be my boo thang." Beca looked up at the redhead walking next to her, but quickly blushed and looked away. "Not that I would ever use that phrase…"

Chloe smirked and wrapped her arm around the brunettes before giving it a squeeze. "Becs you can call me anything you want." With a flirtatious wink she sauntered ahead as the younger woman froze in her spot trying to process what just happened.

After a few moments of walking alone, the redhead turned around with an enormous grin called back to the stunned freshman. "Well come on Tiny Tim. We have to actually do things if we're going to be fast friends like a promised, which won't happen if you are just standing there."

Shaking her head, Beca snapped back to the present and strolled up to the senior. "Tiny Tim? Really?"

Chloe shrugged as she reached for and grabbed the brunette's hand with her own. "What, I'm testing them out. I need to figure out what terms of endearment I will be calling you from now on."

"Why no just: Hey You."

The redhead chuckled and shoved the shorter woman with her shoulder. "You are clearly so creative, midget."

"How are these supposed to be endearing?!" The brunette pulled her hand away from Chloe's, causing the older woman's to frown at the loss of contact. "It feels like you're just insulting me."

Unsure of whether the younger girl was actually upset or not, the redhead decided to play it safe. Grabbing Beca's hand with both of hers, Chloe dramatically got down onto her knee in front of the now shock freshman.

"You're totally right. I want us to work and I promise to refrain from the height jokes….as much as possible," the brunette's eyebrow quirked up. "Hey! It's not going to be easy, but for you I'll try! I'm sorry. Say you'll forgive me. Say you'll give us another chance!" To make it even more over the top, the redhead pulled out her puppy dog pout.

Beca blushed and tried to pull the older woman up by her hands. "Everyone's looking, get up."

"Not until you forgive me!"

Rolling her eyes, Beca loudly replied, "Fine, I forgive you!"

"And…" The redhead still wouldn't stand from her spot on the ground.

Confused as to what else this crazy woman could have wanted she asked, "And what?"

"Relationships take two people Beca. I'm willing to make the effort, but you have to be too." Chloe rolled her eyes and stated as if it was the most obvious thing.

Beca nervously looked around. They were causing quite a scene in the quad and it was a nice day out, so there were a ton of people now watching them. Chloe swore she heard someone shout "Be a decent human being and forgive you're girlfriend!"

"FINE! I'm devoted to this relationship, no matter how weird and abnormal this totally is." Beca tried to pull Chloe to her feet again and was finally successful, causing the older woman to stumble forward and into their first real hug. "You're such a nerd Beale."

Pulling a part, the redhead gave her a megawatt smile. "Yea but you lurve me."

Grabbing the smaller woman's hand she began to pull her in the direction of food. "Come on Cupcake, all this fighting made me hungry. And you still have some apologizing to do so food's on you."

"Whaaa…" Before Beca could even manage to put up a fight, the older woman shot her a wink and the tiny DJ was silenced.

A shrill beeping sound brought Chloe back to the present. "What the heck?" She grumbled as she threw off her bed covers and made her way to her door. Upon opening the door, Chloe realized that the penetrating noise was their smoke detector going off. Quickly, the redhead ran across the apartment into the kitchen where smoke from a pan was billowing into the air. Grabbing the closest rag she could find, she jumped up onto a chair and began waving it in front of the detector. Looking around she shout out to the person below standing there motionless.

"Open the window or something!" She shook her head at how silly this was and prayed that none of her neighbors were awoken by the noise. The last thing she needed was her new neighbors complaining about them to the landlord.

Once the smoke cleared out, the detector silenced down and Chloe stopped waving the towel she had like a maniac. Getting ready to hop down, she felt a hand quickly grab her by the waist.

"Here, let me help you." Beca placed both hands on the redheads waist and lifted her off the chair, placing her gently on the ground. Unable to do anything but start into the dark irises in front of her, Chloe stood frozen.

"Sorry about that Chlo." Beca mumbled, still grasping the older woman's waist. "I forgot to turn the fan on…"

Then it hit her. Beca's here. Making Breakfast. For Aubrey. Because she never left. A quick glance down the petite girl's frame confirmed her suspicions. She's even wearing Bree's clothes…oh god I think I'm going to be sick.

As if burned by the touch of the smaller woman, Chloe jumped back removing her hands from her body. Bringing her hand to her face, unable to look at her best friend, Chloe looked down at the kitchen floor. "I'm uh just going to go back to bed."

Momentarily confused, Beca looked at the food and back at the older woman. "But then your breakfast will be cold…"

Crossing her arms defensively across her body, Chloe shook her head. "It's cool. You and Aubrey eat, I'll reheat whatever's left over."

"Oh Bree left, something about her Saturday morning routine; running, newspaper, coffee…honestly she lost me at running when she woke up like two hours ago."

"But I figured you—" Chloe shyly glanced up at the DJ, who was smirking back at her.

"What? That I actually got my ass out of bed before 10 in the morning to make Bree breakfast in bed?" The brunette began hysterically laughing, making the redhead even more confused. "Red, I promise you, there is no way in hell I'd be caught doing that for anyone but you. I mean, cause, uh you're my you're my best friend in the world."

The smile that had spread across the redhead's face as Beca spoke dropped a fraction at the end of her rambling. Duh, it's not like she sees you as anything else…especially when she's cuddling in bed and doing god knows what with Aubrey.

Completely unaware of what she'd done, Beca moved to finish dressing the plates as she scrunched up her face in disappointment. "The whole idea had been Saturday morning cartoons and breakfast in bed to start our CABAAD, but you're kinda out of bed now…"

"Nope! No I can easily get back into bed! As I stated two minutes ago." Chloe began to slowly tiptoe backwards to her room. "See, this is me going back to my bed."

Beca chuckled and motioned her hands in front of her to get the woman to speed up her process. Beaming, the redhead turned on her feet and booked it back into her room, throwing herself onto her bed. As she began to burrow back under her blankets, Chloe heard Beca shout from the other room, "Orange, apple, or blueberry?"

"Blueberry! DUH!" She giggled as she turned on her tv and queued up My Little Pony on Netflix. She loved the the badass DJ secretly enjoyed cuddling up with her and watching the cartoon. Not that she would ever admit it out loud.

"You're so weird! Who actually likes blueberry juice?!" The brunette said as she made her way across the room holding a tray with their breakfast on top. Chloe noted that it was overflowing with food and she was surprised that it was able to hold so much without thing tumbling off.

Rolling her eyes at the brunette's comment, Chloe grabbed a fry and shoved it in her mouth. "Whatever cupcake, you lurve me."

Beca froze. She stood there staring, holding the tray just above the redhead's lap. Unphased by why she had said to the yonder girl, Chloe continued on. "And since when do french fries count as breakfast food? And what the heck is CABAAD? You sound like a sheep baa-ing when you say that." She giggled.

The redhead efficiently snapped Beca back to the conversation. Smirking, she handed Chloe the tray as she crawled onto the bed and situated herself into the older girl's side. Once settled, Chloe lowered the tray down over the pair of them, fitting perfectly. Cause we fit perfectly together…Chloe shook her head at the thought and turned back to the brunette who had begun to speak."

"Well when you have no other potato options in the house I had to make a fast call. And seriously, breakfast isn't the same with out potatoes!" She rolled eyes as if it was the most obvious answer in the world. "And CABAAD: Chlo and Becs amazing adventure day!"

Chloe burst out laughing.

"Hey watch it! You might knock over the food!" Beca grabbed the tray to steady it as the other girl shook trying to hol in more laughter.

"Sorry you're just cute and hilarious."

"I am neither cute or…well I am hilarious but that wasn't supposed to be funny." The smaller woman said with a pout. "You're always naming things we do together, so I thought I'd give our day together a name…"

Chloe smiled down at the beautiful girl next to her. Her heart melted at the sight. Beca had tried so hard this morning and all for her! And now she had this adorable pout that she just wanted to kiss off her face. Taking a deep breath, the redhead focused her attention back in front of her.

"Shhh Rainbow Dash is about to sing! You know she's my favorite!" Beca just chuckled at the woman next to her.

"Fine, but you know she's my pony." The brunette fought as she took a bite out of the stack of pancakes.

"Just because she's my favorite doesn't mean I think she's my pony. I'm totally Twilight Sparkle!"

"What! No way! You're obviously Pinkie Pie."

Chloe made a face at her companion and sighed. "Fine. Hey gimme a bite of those pancakes before you eat them all."

The brunette rolled her eyes and loaded up her fork with some of the cakes and pulled them through the syrup. Turning to the older woman she grinned. "Open wide."

The redhead smirked as she let her crush feed her. You're only slightly torturing yourself here Chlo…Whatever, I'm just going to enjoy being in the present with the most amazing woman I've ever laid eyes on. Chloe decided as she chewed her pancakes.

"Uh Chlo, you have…" Beca reached out to the redhead's face. "Hold on, I've got it…"

The brunette ran her thumb across the older woman's lips, sending chills down her spine. Chloe knew she was only going for the syrup that probably remained on her mouth, but she swore that touch would undue her. Beca's lite touch lingered on her lips a moment too long and the redhead couldn't help herself. Just as slowly and gently, the redhead placed a small kiss on the brunette's thumb.

Beca just gazed back into the vibrant blue eyes that appeared to be searching her very soul. Chloe tried so hard to convey the want and desire to her younger friend, but knew she needed the feelings to be reciprocated. It would be unfair of her to make a move and ruin what they had because Beca's feelings weren't mutual. Chloe cared too much for Beca to lose her. So if she could only have her as a friend, that's what she'd do. Heck, that's what she had decided on last year. Mentally cursing herself for getting caught up in the moment, Chloe broke her their gaze.

"So was any of the bacon salvageable?" The redhead refused to look at the now confused smaller woman next to her. Instead she took a sip of her juice and turned her focus to the dancing ponies on the screen.

"Uh…yea, here." Beca mustered as she handed over the plate of slightly over crisped bacon.

"Thanks!" Chloe gave the girl her best smile as if nothing had just happened between the two of them. Munching on a piece, the redhead dropped her head onto her best friend's shoulder. "So what all do you have planned for today?"

Beca rested her head onto of the other girls and smiles. "Nothing past this actually. I figured you still have some apologizing to do after forgetting about last night. Ball's in your court Beale."

Chloe isn't evil...I promise. Why else would Beca be so caught up on her?! So I might have some typos in this. Started on my phone and then transferred to my new computer when I got it today. Let me know what you think.
