Disclaimer: It's starting to get real interesting guys!
As soon as Jeff started to fall Punk was there to catch him. Matt, however, would have none of that. He took Jeff out of his arms and put him on the couch before turning around to face the younger male.
"You need to leave before he wakes up. You have no right to be here and he doesn't need you here." Matt was trying to push him out the door and that didn't go too well with Punk. He tried to ignore it for the sake of his boyfriend but the second time Matt pushed him he pushed back.
"I'm going to be here until he tells me to leave." He knew by the look on Jeff's brother's face that what he said was not what he wanted to hear.
"You've hurt him enough now leave!" He shoved Phil so hard that he actually stumbled into the bookshelf, knocking some of the stuff off. He shouldn't have done what happened next but one could only be pushed so far before reaching their breaking point. Getting up from his position on the ground he tackled Matt to the floor. Punk's fists going one way and Matt's going another. Colt had tried to break them up but eventually just realized that he wasn't going to. They were rolling around, each trying to get the upper hand when they crashed through something. He didn't know what it was but he knew it involved glass because shards of it were sticking into his back. He didn't give up though not until he heard Colt talking to someone and then another voice.
"Stop fighting!" Jeff yelled as Colt helped him to a sitting position on the couch. Phil looked up, his legs still squeezing the air out of Matt and after another stern look from his lover he let go, wiping the blood from his face.
"You are the two most important men in my life. Why can't you just get along?" The sadness in Jeff's voice broke Punk's heart. He never wants to hurt him but he had… twice now. He was about to apologize when Matt scoffed.
"Come on Jeff, you can't be serious!" The anger in his voice was hard to miss making Punk wonder what exactly it was he did to him. The last time he and the older Hardy talked they parted on good terms. At least he thought so. Apparently he was wrong.
"Yes, Matt I am serious. I love you, you know that but I'm not going to stop loving him just because you don't approve. That's not how this works, Matty." Matt's facial features softened at the nickname and he sighed probably realizing he wasn't going to win. He dark brown eyes flashed over to Phil before looking back to his baby brother.
"I'm sorry. It's just.."
"I know." Jeff cut him off before he could finish. Then he looked up at Punk with his beautiful green eyes.
"What are you doing here?" He asked making Phil kind of nervous. Was he angry that he showed up?
"I tried calling." It was all he said, looking down to try and relieve himself of the intense gaze
"Okay but that doesn't answer the question." He sort of laughed making Punk look up again. This was getting difficult. He didn't know whether Jeff was mad or not. He never was any good at relationships.
"I know I fucked up and I'll do whatever it takes to make it up to you. I'm not… good at any of this. When you asked me to move in with you I was scared. I thought that maybe after a while you'd get tired of me, like almost everyone I've ever dated. And if they didn't break up with me, I'd do it first because of that fear. But I realized that there's a huge difference between those relationships and ours. I didn't love them. Not like I love you, Jeff. And maybe my feelings for you are what truly scared me, I don't know. What I do know is that I want this, more than anything I want us." There it was, all out in the open with Jeff to do what he pleased with it.
Jeff just looked at Punk. He didn't know what to say to all of that. He understood being scared because he was scared as well. He never felt this extreme measure of love for anyone before, not even his brother who he would die for. He motioned for Phil and almost instantly he was in front of him on his knees. Jeff took his tattooed hands in his and rubbed his thumbs across the top of the right hand before he spoke.
"I'm sorry." He knew it had to be said. The way he acted the last time they saw each other was beyond t
"It's just that when you said no I….ugh I don't know I'm just sorry." Phil shook his head and placed a light kiss on Jeff's hand that was still holding his own.
"You don't have to be sorry. I get it know I really do and to be honest I probably would have done the same thing." He smiled making Jeff not feel so bad.
"So you drove all the way here just to tell me you loved me. There are phones Phillip." He tried joking but even he didn't laugh at his joke.
"I tried calling, like I said. And I drove all the way not just to tell you I love you but, if you are still willing I'd love to move in with you." Jeff was surprised at that. Even with him here now he still just assumed that Punk would be living in and always will live in Chicago. This was better though. His eyes met his boyfriend's olive greens trying to gauge whether he was serious or not. When he found what he was looking form he smiled, pulling the younger man into a soul searing kiss.
"Of course I still want you to move in." Jeff said breathlessly when he finally pulled back. Punk smiled and kissed him once more. Jeff had completely forgotten about the others in the room until he heard his front door close. Looking up he noticed Matt was no longer there, he sighed. He never wanted to make his brother angry, his opinion meant a lot to him but there were just some things that he could handle on his own. Some decisions he could make on his own. Phil could obviously tell something was bugging him because Jeff felt hands on his shoulders giving them a quick squeeze.
"Don't worry babe, he's just worried. Matt loves you." Of course he knew that, Matt wouldn't stop loving him because he thought he made a horrible life decision. His brother would just mope around for a bit before he realized that Jeff wasn't going to change his mind then he'd get over it and they'd continue their brotherly friendship like nothing ever happened.
"Maybe I should go talk to him." Jeff mused out loud.
"If that's what you feel you need to do." Punk actually surprised him sometimes. He was so understanding about this whole situation. Kissing him real quick on the cheek and telling him and Colt to make themselves at home, Jeff ran out the door and after his older brother, ignoring the throbbing in his knee. He didn't get very far, barely to the edge of Jeff's property actually.
"Matty wait up!" he called out, his run turning more into a zombie walk.
"Why?" He had stopped but didn't turn around.
"Because I want to talk to you."
"No, why do you want him to move in with you?" Matt turned around just as he reached him. Jeff eyebrows furrowed in confusion. He couldn't understand why this bugged his older brother so much.
"Do you not remember the last relationship you had where you moved too fast?! He almost killed you Jeff!" So that's what he was getting all worked up about. Yes he was very aware that his last relationship didn't turn out so well but he didn't have bring up a sore subject. Sure it was more than a year ago but he still had nightmares about the beatings he would receive for 'disobeying'.
"Phil isn't like him, Matt. I know he won't hurt me." Jeff said softly still knowing Matt was angry and it wouldn't do anything but make him more angry if he raised his voice.
"Oh so you just know that he won't slap you around every time you say something he might not like or force you when you don't want to fuck or hey maybe he'll break your arm when you accidently drop a glass on the floor! I was there every time you 'fell' or needed to go to the emergency room. Why can't you just trust me on this one?" His voice cracked at the last sentence and Jeff actually felt bad. Even though he went through hell so did Matt. He had to see his baby brother in an abusive relationship and he couldn't do anything about it.
"Matt listen to me. I know I fucked up with Mark but believe me I have no interest in having another relationship like that. I just want to forget all about that, hell it's bad enough I still have to work with him. Phil though…. Phil is so different. He's sweet and gentle, kind hearted. Just get to know him Matty. Please?" He was sure that if the two just hung out Matt would see what a great guy Punk was and therefor approve of their relationship. Matt rolled his eyes earning one more please from Jeff before he agreed.
"Fine…" Matt breathed coming up to support his baby brother's weight as they walked back to the house.
While Jeff was outside talking to his brother, Colt was being the little nosy prick he always was by looking out the window.
"Hey do you know someone named Mark?" his friend asked randomly. Punk turned around from his place on the couch to look at his friend like he was retarded.
"Should I?" he asked dumbfounded. Scott shook, his head slowly.
"I've been trying to read their lips and I got the name Mark out of their conversation."
"Colt stop being a creep and just sit down or something." His friend grumbled something before starting towards a chair.
"So who do you think he is? Mark I mean?" He just wasn't going to let this go was he? Rolling his eyes Punk shrugged. Frankly he didn't care who the man was.
"So you're telling me you aren't even interested? He could be someone important maybe he has someone else."
"Drop it Scott." He glared at his friend. How could he even insinuate that? He knew how he felt about Jeff hell he was the one who convinced him to come down here in the first place.
"I'm just saying." His friend always had to have the last word.
"And I'm saying drop it before you get hurt." Punk knew Jeff wasn't seeing someone else. It just wouldn't make any sense for him to want Punk to move in if there was someone he was seeing on the side. Just as colt was about to say something else the door opened and Matt and Jeff were coming back inside. Punk immediately left the couch so Jeff could lay down on it and prop up his knee on some pillows Matt fluffed up for him.
"Matt why don't you help Phil and Colt with their things?" Jeff asked while he tried to get into a more comfortable position. Instead of arguing like Punk thought he would do he nodded and motioned towards the door. He had to admit he was pretty nervous when Colt left them alone to go to the bathroom. Sure he could take care of himself but still, there was just something nerve-racking about being left alone with the boyfriend's brother who hated your guts. When they got to the car Matt stopped in his tracks suddenly. Punk turned around to see him looking at the ground and digging the toe of his boot in the ground.
"Look Punk… I'm sorry about earlier. I get really protective of my baby brother and uh, the last relationship he was involved in I didn't protect him like I should have and he paid the price for that. Jeff thinks that maybe I'm being too hard on you and need to get to know you so for my brother's sake I will do just that but if I find anything sketchy about your past I want you to leave him alone. Understand?" Wow he was serious.
"Sketchy huh? Matt I get that you love your brother I do but he's not a kid anymore. And to tell you the truth you're going to find stuff in my past that I would rather leave there but it will never effect my relationship with Jeff." Punk really hoped Matt would just take his word on it. He didn't need someone digging around in his past and bringing up bad memories.
"We'll see about that. Tonight Amy is throwing a party and you and Colt are invited." Oh great a party. Sighing Punk just nodded while grabbing his bag out of the car. Well this was going to be an interesting night.
It was eleven thirty at night and people were still arriving to the party, which actually wasn't half bad. Even though Jeff wasn't there, he opted out saying he was just going to take a pain pill and probably pass out, he still managed to have a good time with his best friend. He didn't dance but he sure as hell had fun watching Colt make a fool of himself. He was hitting on one of Amy's friends, Trish and it was hilarious. No matter how many times she shot him down he just kept going back for more punishment. Shaking his head at his friend's last attempt Punk took a sip of the Pepsi in his hand unaware of Matt coming up behind him until the darker hardy spoke.
"So you don't drink?" He asked, surprise filling his voice. The younger man turned around to face the other and shook his head.
"No I don't drink, or smoke, or do any other type of drug. Legal or otherwise. It's just kind of my thing." He wasn't trying to sound like a snob or anything because here he was in a room full of half-drunk people.
"Well Jeff does all those things. He had an addiction to heroin back when he first started in WWF, it was kept low profile of course. I think he just smokes a little weed every now and then though. Then there's the physical toll this career choice has on his body and pain medication helps with that of course you would know about the effects of this job. So you're telling me that you've never taken any sort of prescribed medicine to take the edge off? I find that hard to believe." He understood where Matt was coming from he truly did but he didn't like the fact that he was basically calling him a liar. Punk decided to blow if off right now though. He didn't need to make a scene especially here.
"Matt I know Jeff smokes and I know he drinks I don't have a problem with that. Just because I believe in not doing any of those things doesn't mean I think everyone else has to. Just like I respect the fact that he believes in god and he respects the fact that I'm atheist. Sometimes no matter how different people are from another it's just right." Matt smiled and shook his head.
"Alright kid I give up. I like you, you're brutally honest and don't give a fuck what people think. You and Jeff can have my blessing, even though you would have gone about this relationship no matter what I said. Now why don't you go check on him? I know you're not really into this too much."
"Actually this is kind of fun but I'd be a fool to pass up that offer." Punk chuckled receiving another shake of the head from the older Hardy. Thanking Matt for the good time Punk started back over to Jeff's house. He still couldn't believe how close they lived to one another. place was literally right down the road, hell if there weren't trees in the way he could probably see it. It only took a few minutes to get there and when he did he noticed that all the lights were off. That was weird he could have sworn that a lamp in the living room was on when he left. Looking around for the light switch he turned it on and the sight before him made his heart drop. The place was trashed. The lamp that was on was now smashed to pieces on the floor, things were tossed around like a struggle had taken place and the worst part was that Jeff was not in his immediate line of sight.
"Jeff?!" Punk called out hoping to hear something in return. When he didn't he called out again only to get the same response, silence. What the hell had gone on in here? Running through the house Phil looked in every room before getting to the master bedroom. He hoped that Jeff had just been asleep when all this happened and didn't hear anything because of the pain meds. Fear dredged his heart when his lover wasn't there though either. The only thing on the bed was a neatly folded paper. Reaching out for it with shaky hands Punk picked it up and read it
He will always be mine. Was the only thing written on it in a neat scratch. Not knowing what to make out of it he did the only thing he could think of. He ran to Matt's.
