Rapunzel's Pov
"Zell was crying for a couple of minutes. It took us an hour or two to notice you were gone, we were so busy making battle strategies to defeat Pitch." Said Bunny. I winced. Wrong thing to say. I saw Hiccup's fists clenched and trees lost their leaves. The leaves swirled around Hiccup, as if trying to protect the dragon trainer from something. Hiccup opened the box in his hands. I smiled when the box closed five minutes later. Hiccup was smiling sadly at the box. I could tell he felt like crying. Hiccup then looked at us and backed up. "Hiccup, wait!"Shouted Merida. Hiccup was running farther into the Forest with the speed of a deer. I had to hold Merida back. "I'll go find him. I'm good at calming people down." I said, smiling at a memory of calming down a bar full of thieves. I chased after Hiccup, only finding his path because of the trail of poison oak leaves he left. Other than that, I wouldn't be able to find him. I followed the path of leaves into a glen. There was a waterfall and a lake. I spotted Hiccup throwing pebbles into the lake. He spotted me and motioned for me to come over. I ran over to the boulder he was sitting on, my hair trailing behind me.
"We really have to do something with that hair, Blondie." Said Hiccup as I hopped on the boulder. "Why'd you run away?" I asked. Hiccup frowned, obviously not comfortable talking about that. "In my past, I knew Pitch. We were… friends, I guess. We were each other's only friends before Toothless, my dragon, came along. Pitch told me stories about the Guardians, spirits who served Loki, who hated the world. He told me that he was the only one who could fight against them and that I was helping him by believing in him. At the time, I believed the stories he told me were true. I guess some part of me still does, since I ran from you guys. Sorry for that." Said Hiccup. "It's OK." I said. "I actually met all of you guys when I was human." "So, how did you get a prosthetic leg?" "Oh, that. I defeated a huge dragon with my friends, but I lost my leg in the process. My mentor, Gobber, made me this." Said Hiccup. "It's OK that you were friends with Pitch in life. He fed you lies. Like Mothe-Gothel did to me." I said, biting my tongue when I almost called her 'Mother'.
"Gothel?" Asked Hiccup. "Yeah. She stole me when I was a baby. She then acted like my mother for eighteen years, a thief named Flynn broke into my tower and took me to see the lanterns, Gothel captured me and almost killed Flynn, I was going to save him, but he cut off my hair, then he died, then my tears brought him back to life. After that, Gothel died, I was reunited with my family, the King and Queen, and then, some twenty years later, I was killed by some rioters." I said. Hiccup was staring at me. "Yoo-hoo, Earth to Hiccup." I said, snapping my fingers in front of his nose. Hiccup fell off the boulder and landed on his head. "Ouch." Said the autumn spirit. "Oh, Hiccup, are you OK?" I asked. "Yeah. I'm OK." Said Hiccup. He had a nasty bruise on the head. "Here." I said and wrapped my hair around his head. "Flower, gleam and glow. Let your power shine. Make the clock reverse. Bring back what once was mine. Heal what has been hurt. Change the Fates' design. Save what has been lost. Bring back what once was mine. What once was mine." I sang. Hiccup looked slightly amazed.
Hiccup's ears perked up-for the first time I noticed his ears were pointed like an elf's. "Punzel, I think we should leave now." Said Hiccup. "Why?" I asked. "This place-do you know what it's called? Skógr Lykð Svefn, or the Forest of End Sleep in English. Some of the Spirits that I've encountered that know of this place call it another thing- Skógr Bik Svartr, Forest of Pitch Black. This is one of his domains." Said Hiccup, backing up. "Good idea." I said and made a hole appear in the ground. It was ringed in flowers-but they were coated in Nightmare Sand. "He's close-really close. Jump!" Yelled Hiccup and jumped into the hole, dragging me along. We slid through the tunnel, popping back up in front of the Guardians. "Punz? What's goin'-?" Asked Merida. "No time! Pitch's Forest! Run now!" Yelled Hiccup. North nodded. "Bunny, get us back to Warren!" Yelled the Russian. Bunny tapped his foot and a hole popped up. The Guardians jumped into the tunnel. I created my own tunnel, Hiccup flew away, Merida turned into a red flame-like creature, and Jack flew away.
