Author's Note: I forgot to add that Hiccup looks like he does in HTTYD 2.

Hiccup's Pov

I flew, far away from that terrible Forest. I then looked down, and saw I was flying over the Warren. I debated leaving the Guardians. Bunny himself said he was 'too busy to notice I was gone'. Even if I was dead, they probably wouldn't notice. I was invisible to them. Just like in life. Only when I did something amazing did they notice me, not when I was just being me. I shook my head of such thoughts and dived down. I saw Rapunzel and Bunny get out of the way as I dived. I noticed I was going too fast and was too high up. I turned into my eighteen-year-old self and used the wings attached to my suit to slow my fall. When I landed, the others were staring at me. "What?" I asked. "Hiccup? Why d' ye look older?" Asked Merida. "Oh. I can do that." I said. "OK then. Let's talk. Why did you run away from us?" Asked Jack. I looked at Rapunzel. "Can't you tell them?" I asked her. "Sorry, Hic. You've got to tell them." Said Rapunzel. I groaned. "Fine. In life, I-I used to be friends with Pitch. He always told me these amazing stories of how he battled the Guardians, these spirits who hated the world, hated children, wanted to bathe the world in eternal darkness. I once asked him why they-you-hated children. Pitch said that because children believing in him made him stronger. He said that I was making him stronger since I believed. Then the Dark Ages came. I guess you could say that I sort of incidentally caused the Dark Ages? He sort of made me afraid of you guys growing up, too." I said nervously, afraid that they would attack me. "Fishbone, is tha' why ye ran off? If ye were afraid we would attack ye, we won't." Said Merida. "I'm not a fishbone." I said. "In both forms of yours, you're a fishbone." Said Merida. "We're going to get something for dinner. Don't wander off. Pitch could be anywhere." Said Tooth. She and the Guardians went into a forest. If Pitch could strike at any moment, then why aren't we better prepared for his attacks? I thought. I felt my respect for the Guardians dwindling. "I'm going to go paint some eggs and flowers for Bunny." Said Punzie as she hopped into a tunnel. Merida went off to go shoot at something. That left Jack and I. "OK, they're gone, spill." Said Jack, smirking. "What? I don't have any liquid in my hands to spill." I said. I really hate modern speech sometimes. "Tell me what Pitch told you. I saw you grab your stomach in pain back there-he did something. So, spill." Said Jack. "What? I have no idea what you're talking about." I said. "Come on, Hic, you may be a really good liar, but I know a lie when I see one." Said Jack. I sighed.

"Sometimes I really hate you." I said. "Pitch told me that, unless I join him, then Toothless, my dragon, dies." I said. 'So? Isn't Toothless just a dragon?" Asked Jack. I death glared at him, poison oak and nettle leaves falling out of my hair as I shook my head. "Toothless isn't just a dragon, he's my best friend! He saved me from death when I fought the Red Death." I said, the grass around me wilting more than usual. Jack put his arms up in surrender. "OK, OK, Fishbone." Said Jack. 'What's more, I only have little more than a week, and if Toothless dies, I die! I bet you and the Guardians wouldn't care about me dying, would you? You were all 'too busy' to notice I was gone, after all! If I died, none of you would even notice! Then you would forget I was ever there! I would be invisible, just like in life. Don't you understand, Jokul? We're being used by the Guardians as pawns for their chess game with Pitch. They won't care if we die, because in chess, they don't care about pawns! All they care about is the game. Well, you know what, Jokul Frosti? I'm done being the Guardians' pawn. Goodbye." I said, unaware of the back sand around my fingers as I turned into crimson and gold leaves and flew away. "Hiccup, wait!" I heard Jack say. Then, I felt one of the crimson leaves-I think that was my arm- being frozen.

Third Person Pov

"Hey, I'm back and- Wait, where's Hiccup?" Asked Rapunzel, a worried expression on her face. Jack sighed. How was he going to tell her? How would he tell Merida? The winter nymph saw that Merida and Hiccup had developed an emotional connection. Knowing Merida, she would want to go and get Hiccup back straight away. "I heard shouting! What's goin' on?" Asked Bunny. "Where's Hiccup? I thought he was with you." "He was." Said Jack. Just stay quiet. Maybe he won't ask. Thought Jack Frost. "Was? Where is he?" Asked-More like demanded-Merida as she came out of the forest, her bow and an arrow in hand. "He's…gone. Pitch got to him." Said Jack slowly, as if that would make it better. "WHAT? Why didn't ye go and stop him, then?" Asked Merida, going into Flame mode. "Well, I tried! Dragon-eyes kept on dodging." Said Jack. "We need to find out where new entrance to Pitch's Lair is, then attack." Said North, who had followed Bunny. "Yeah. Wait. I think I know of someone who can help." Said Rapunzel.

"Pitch! Come out!" Yelled Hiccup. "You called?" Asked the velvety voice of Pitch from behind Hiccup. The boy jumped. "I've come to accept your deal. You free Toothless, I join you. Everyone wins. Except for the Guardians, of course." Said Hiccup, a sinister tone to his voice and wearing a smirk when he said the last sentence. "Excellent. Gothel, free the dragon. As for you…" Said Pitch, turning to Hiccup. The Season of Autumn shivered at his stare. Pitch touched Hiccup's forehead. The boy fell into a deep sleep. "Take him to my chamber." Said Pitch, smiling evilly. The nightmare sand that he had infected the boy with was working. One down, two to go. Thought Pitch Black as the Lord of Darkness walked away to his room of cages
