Third Person Pov
"Punz? What happened? Where are we?" Asked Merida. "How should I know? I was knocked out." Said Rapunzel, trying to see in the darkness. Rapunzel blinked rapidly, sure it was her imagination, thinking she saw the shadows move. "Morning, Sleeping Beauties." Said Hiccup's voice from somewhere in the darkness. "Hiccup? Is tha' ye?" Asked Merida. "Anyone else you know of named 'Hiccup', Princess?" Asked Hiccup. He stepped out of the shadows, making Merida and Rapunzel gasp. Even if Rapunzel had seen him just last night, he looked worse. His eyes were glowing yellow instead of their usual vibrant green and his skin was grayer than the last time Rapunzel saw him. The leaves in his hair and clothing were poison oaks and nettles, but they looked brown at the edges, as if they were he smiled, it was not the kind smile the girls knew, but a wicked smirk that reminded Merida of a knife cutting through butter. He was fiddling with a dagger in one hand. "Hic, what happened to ye?" Asked Merida. "What happened to me, let's see. Well, I was spying on you and the Guardians to gain information for Master, when Blondie pointed me out to you. I was weakened, my right arm was frozen by Frosti, and I came back to the Master weakened and limping." "Hic, what are ye talking 'bout? That never happened. Jack told us tha' ye started ranting about being the Guardians' pawn and left in a swirl of gold leaves mixed with nightmare sand. Pitch is messing with your mind, Hiccup." Said Merida. "Master wouldn't lie to me. Why should I trust you? You're with those Guardians." Said Hiccup. "Hiccup, Pitch is evil. He will kill you if you do not do what he wants to. He almost killed your dragon, Toothless. Please come back with us and-" Said Rapunzel. In a flash, Hiccup was over in Rapunzel's cage, his dagger at Rapunzel's throat. "Do not talk about Master that way, you idiotic girl."Said Hiccup. He started making a choking noise and his head twitched to the side, nightmare sand around his throat "Now Hiccup, don't kill our guests. You know we need them." Said Pitch. Hiccup fell on his knees, turned into nettle leaves, and appeared at Pitch's side. "I am sorry, Master. I simply was angered by the fact that Spring called you evil." Said Hiccup. "Did she now. Well, I will forgive you then. Thank you for defending me, Hiccup. You may leave now, my Prince." Said Pitch. Hiccup nodded and walked out, but not before his neck twitched, he turned around, looked at Merida and Rapunzel, and mouthed 'Good luck' before walking away again.
Did his eyes just turn green? So there's hope to for bringing him back. I told North there was hope! Thought Merida. Rapunzel, on the other hand, was glaring at the Nightmare King. "Why did you call Hiccup your Prince?" Asked Rapunzel. "He is my Prince of Darkness. And every King needs a Prince and Princess." Said the King of Nightmares. Rapunzel stopped glaring daggers at Pitch and looked really worried. Then Pitch blew Nightmare Sand at them, making them collapse. "Sweet nightmares, girls." Said Pitch, laughing as he watched the girls.
"Where am I?" Asked Merida. She looked around the grassy area with stoned monoliths where she was located and saw her Mother as a bear, along with her brothers. "Mum? Hubert, Haggis, Hamish? What are you doing here?" Asked Merida. The bear that was her Mother then attacked her red-headed daughter. "Mum, please! You're not yourself!" Said Summer. "Roar!" Roared the Triplets. "Mum, please!" Merida dodged each swing until her Mother-no, only a bear, thought Merida-hit her arm with her claw, leaving a claw mark on her dress and shoulder. The bear roared as the Triplets attacked Merida. "Ach! Hubert, Hamish, Hubert, please! I'm your sister!" Said Merida. Merida was so busy fending off the bears that she didn't notice nightmare sand make its way into her wound. As Merida was about to be killed by the bear, she spotted a bow and arrows in the corner. She then saw a sword appear at her side. Summer smiled. If her mother wouldn't listen to her, than she would die. The girl grabbed her sword and hit the bear on the snout, then ran towards her bow and arrows. Merida whistled to the bears once she got to her bow and knocked an arrow. The bear turned around and looked at its prey. Merida shot the arrow through the bear's heart. She smiled, knocked another arrow, and looked at the Triplet-bears. "If you don't want to die, run." Said Merida. The bears didn't move, instead opting to run at her with their claws and teeth bared. Merida sighed. "Fine. Stupid bears." She shot all three of the bears. The world around her seemed to melt until she was back in the cage she was in before.
Rapunzel looked around. Where was she? She then looked around again and saw… her old tower? "Oh Flower, where are you?" Asked the voice of Gothel. Rapunzel stayed quiet. "Flower, where are you?" Asked the witch with more force. "R-Rapunzel." Said the voice of Flynn. "Eugene!" Said Rapunzel. She quickly ran out of the corner she was in. When she ran to Eugene, she was yanked back. Gothel had a hold on her hair. "Mother. Please. Let me heal him." Said Rapunzel. "Fine." Said Gothel and let go of Rapunzel's hair. "Rapunzel, it'll be OK." Said Eugene. "No, it won't. You're dying." Said Rapunzel, wrapped her hair around his wound, and started singing. Once she was finished, Eugene looked as healthy as he usually did."Rapunzel, come closer." Said Flynn. Rapunzel nodded and leaned in. Eugene grabbed a piece of glass from the floor and cut her hair. "Now she can't use you." Said Eugene. Gothel screamed. "If you don't have your hair anymore, than you're of no use to me." Said Gothel. She came up to Rapunzel with a dagger. Rapunzel and Flynn walked back to the wall. Gothel slashed at Rapunzel with the knife. Nightmare sand seeped into wound, too small an amount for the blonde to notice. Rapunzel grabbed a chunk of the wall, broke it off, and hit the witch with it. While Gothel was distracted, Rapunzel grabbed the dagger out of Gothel's hand and stabbed her with it repeatedly until she stabbed her in the heart. Once she was done, she was covered in blood. The world around her melted into darkness and then reappeared as the cage she was in earlier.
"Hello, my dears. How are you feeling?" Asked Pitch, smiling at them as he grabbed Rapunzel hand and lifted her out of the cage. "Wonderful." Said Merida. "I feel perfect, Father." Said Rapunzel. "Good."
