The day was just over, and I was looking forward to a good meal tonight when I overheard Lieutenant Murphy speaking on the phone.

I drifted closer. Her tone, a mixture of annoyance and teasing, was one everyone heard whenever Dresden was around.

"I don't care if he's messed up your lab, Harry. I'm not arresting him."

"Yes, I'm sure."

"Dresden, if you turn him purple and we're called in…"

"Fine. Nothing too overt, and you're okay."

I walked away, incredibly glad I wasn't the guy they were talking about. It sounded like he'd be in for a rough time.
