"Listen very closely,"

I was jolted awake by a hand on my neck, pinning me to the mattress. The voice, low and threatening, whispered in my ear.

"If you ever, and I mean ever, put your alarm clock right next to my ear again, I will behead you. Understand?"

"Why, hello, Thomas," I said, bright and chipper. "Sleep well?"

With a snarl, my brother let go of my neck. Glaring, he dropped the broken remains of my alarm clock on the bed.

My mouth dropped. "You killed Mickey?"

As he stalked out, my yell followed him.

"Now that's just rude!"
