✿ How about you write a NaLu fic that somehow or another includes a ring ~ ? ;] 3

Happy was enjoying the air grazing his wings as he soared through the sky, always staying close to the two travellers beneath him. From time to time, their voices would reach his ears, shreds of their conversation carried up to him by the wind.

With a grin, he decreased his distance to eavesdrop on his two partners.

"-you so cheerful anyway? We didn't even receive actual money!"

"But Natsu!" Lucy was even more bubbly than usual. Cheerfully, she skipped along a few steps ahead of Natsu, who was holding a small box. "We got a box of jewelry! That must be worth a lot!" She turned to face him with a manic grin. "I'll be able to pay my rent for weeks."

"Also," she added. "We got almost the full reward! I almost can't believe you destroyed only one building." She was walking backwards now, still facing him, and flashed him a wink. "If I didn't know better, I'd say you're becoming more mature."

He threw his head back and laughed. "Never!"

Curiosity got the best of him, and he opened the small wooden box. It was mostly filled with junk, of course, but as he rummaged through it a little, he found a bulky golden necklace, which he promptly placed around his neck. "Look! I'm a king again!" He cackled. "Thou shalt bow down before me, peasant!"

Lucy rolled her eyes, trying to hide her smile. "I eat my words." Turning back around, she walked on, leaving Natsu to play with his toys.

She didn't manage to get far, though, because all of a sudden, she felt his hand grab hers to bring her to a stop. "Lucy!"

"Huh?"

He stepped in front of her, and proceeded to gently slide a small golden ring onto the ring finger of her right hand, the one with the guildmark.

"Now you can be a queen!" He beamed at her, completely unaware of what this innocent gesture had done to his best friend. Flabbergasted, she stared up at him. Her voice came out a little too high-pitched than she had intended. "N-Natsu! You can't just give a ring to a girl like this!"

"Why not? It's a gift!"

"How can it be a gift if it's not even really yours?" She mumbled, momentarily distracted. Her hand felt hot where his had touched it, and she felt the ring heavy on her finger. It did fit perfectly, all delicate and plain. Almost like… stop it Lucy!

"So..you mean… it's kinda like.. a friendship bracelet?"

A grin spread across Natsu's face. Lucy sure could be dense sometimes, couldn't she? Here he was, giving her a ring, and she babbled on about bracelets. "Yeah…kinda." He scratched his head sheepishly.

Promptly, he turned around and started walking on, leaving her open-mouthed and confused. It was a nice kind of confusion though, making her feel all warm and fuzzy.

She watched as Happy descended to land on Natsu's head. He lowered his head towards his.

"Ooh Natsu, you're all blushy! Don't say… you liiiike her?"

Whereupon both of them turned so scarlet, Erza's hair would have paled with envy.
