Chapter 35: Friendly Visit
Two Days Later
Deeks was exhausted both physically and mentally. Kensi's stomach flu kept the both of them up and he felt like a zombie. He was happy that at least Kensi was doing better because of his efforts and that his sleep deprived brain was at least for a good cause, nursing his fiancé back to health.
Deeks yawned as he wobble walked back into his bedroom with a can of ginger ale in hand. His eyes were half closed and unable to judge the distance between his shoulder and the corner of the door. He shoulder checked the corner of the wall and went falling sideways he was so off balance. He looked around dazed from the floor and got up. He heard Kensi laughing at him but was too brain dead to even care. He set the soda down beside her and stood swaying unbalanced beside her.
"Anything else?" He asked dutifully.
"I need you in bed beside me to keep me warm." She answered with a shiver.
"I can do that." He answered with a smile crawling in to bed and cozying up next to Kensi. He closed his eyes with a sigh of relief and almost drifted off until a knock on his door disturbed him. Deeks groaned. Frustrated , annoyed, and overtired he dragged himself out of bed and to the door.
"What?!" He yelled throwing open the door. Sam and Callen chuckled.
"Hello to you too Deeks." Sam said with a grin holding a bowl.
"See Sam, this is what happens when Princess doesn't get his beauty sleep." G said nudging Sam.
"Whatever. Come in." He said stepping aside for Callen and Sam to enter.
"Michelle made some chicken soup for Kensi. G and I offered to drop it off before heading to the Clippers game."
"Thanks guys. She hasn't eaten much but I'm sure she'll greatly appreciate it. I know I will." Deeks said with a smile.
"Where is she?" Callen asked.
"She's laying in bed. You can go in and say hi. She hasn't relieved anything from her stomach in eight hours."
"That's...promising?" Callen asked with a laugh.
Deeks rolled his eyes and waved his hand to the bedroom. Sam set the bowl of soup down on the table and went with Callen and Deeks to the bedroom where Kensi lay.
"Hey guys." She croaked when she saw them.
"Hey Sis." Callen said giving her hand a squeeze. Kensi gave him a small smile.
"Sam!" She said excitedly.
"Kens. How are you feeling?" He asked giving an affectionate pat on her hand so as to keep a good distance away.
"Like someone decided to rip out my stomach and play with it." She replied disgusted.
"This guy taking care of you?" Callen asked with a false threatening tone.
"Yeah." Kensi said with a smile. "He's been the best nurse I've ever had."
"He looks dead." Sam commented.
"I haven't been sleeping much so he's sleeping even less trying to take care of me." Kensi explained.
"Good." Sam replied. "That's how it should be."
"I'm right here you know." Deeks mumbled from the bed.
"Not really. If you haven't slept then your brain is gone. You're not here with us in mind." Sam said.
"What?" Deeks asked confused.
"Exactly." Callen confirmed.
"I'm so lost." Deeks complained.
Kensi laughed. "Of course you are. You're a walking zombie."
"I'm much more attractive than a zombie thank you." He protested.
"Speaking of zombies, today's Friday the thirteenth." Callen said.
"Freaky." Deeks said.
"We're watching a horror movie tonight Marty."
"Marty?" Sam and Callen said in unison.
"Yeah..." Kensi said not understanding the big deal.
"It is my name." Deeks defended.
"It's just weird. I've never heard her or anyone call you by your first name." Callen explained.
"Because I only do it at home so I don't give you guys a reason to tease us." Kensi rebutted.
Sam and G looked at each other, shrugged their shoulders and nodded their heads. "True." They replied.
"Aw that's adorable, they're speaking in unison again." Deeks teased with a grin.
Sam rolled his eyes. "Think we'll ever do that Kens?"
"We already have our own adorable thing, like what we did when stalling Snyder." Kensi answered.
"I hear that." Deeks replied with a grin at the memory. They both yawned and tried to shake off the exhaustion a bit longer until their friends left.
"Well, we really came just to drop by and see how you were both doing and drop off the soup." Callen said nudging Sam who had gotten the hint before.
"Soup?" Kensi asked.
"Michelle made some chicken noodle soup for you." Sam answered.
"Tell her I said thank you." Kensi requested. Sam nodded.
"Get better Kensi." Sam said.
"And get some rest." Callen added giving her hand another squeeze.
"Will do." Deeks replied knowing Callen directed his sentence to Kensi.
Both were asleep before the front door closed, exhausted.
