Anna's point of view:

"And this is for you, Daddy," Karina said, holding out a gift for her father.

"Another gift?" he asked quietly as he picked up the little girl.

I grinned to myself as she gave him a kiss as I put in my earrings.

"Yes. I'm not allowed to know what it is because Mummy said I'll tell you what it is," Karina said.

"It'll be a surprise for both of us then," Severus replied.

"I can't wait, Daddy," she told him as she hugged him around his neck.

"Me too." He smiled gently as I slipped my shoes on.

"Are you ready to go?" I asked, stepping up to Severus and Karina.

"Yes," Severus answered.

"I'm hungry, Mummy," Karina said.

"We're going to eat, honey," I told her as we stepped out the door.

"I'm excited for Daddy's second birthday dinner," Karina said.

"We are too," I replied.

"I'm going to have spaghetti," Karina declared.

"Maybe you can let me have a bite?" I asked.

"And I can have a bite of your food, Mummy," Karina chirped at me from Severus' arms. "And we can have a bit of Daddy's food."

Severus sighed. "Of course."

"Will there be cake?" Karina asked.

"Maybe," I said.

"I bet it's not as good as ours. Right, Daddy?" Karina asked.

"Probably not."

"We'll share that too! Okay, Daddy?"

"Okay, honey." Severus wrapped his thick cloak around Karina as we stepped outside and into the snow.

We walked swiftly through the snow and to our restaurant. Once there, we sat at our small booth in the corner. I rubbed my hands together as Karina cuddled on Severus' lap. I scooted closer to him as we sat by each other on the same bench.

"It's chilly, Daddy," she whispered to him.

"It is, isn't it?" Karina nodded in response. "How about we keep each other warm?"

"Okay, Daddy!"

Karina hugged him tight as he held her to himself.

"How may I help you?" the waitress asked as she walked over to our table.

"I'd like spaghetti, please," Karina said before Severus or I could say anything.

"Hold on, honey," I said gently as I felt Severus' shoulders shake into silent laughter.

I ordered drinks for us, two glasses of wine and milk for Karina.

"Are you ready to order your food now too?" the waitress asked.

"Spaghetti, please," Karina said.

"Okay, cutie." The waitress smiled as she wrote down Karina's order. "And for you?"

"I'll have the alfredo," I said.

"Lasagna for me," Severus added.

"I'll be right back with your drinks," the waitress replied after writing our order down.

"Thank you." I smiled as I handed her our menus.

"I'm hungry for spaghetti because it'll warm my tummy," Karina said. "And it tastes good."

"It does taste good," Severus replied.

"Are you having a happy birthday, Daddy?" Karina asked.

"Yes I am," he answered. "Thank you for taking me out to dinner."

"You're welcome." She hugged his middle. "Can we sing to you again?"

"I don't think Daddy would like that honey," I told her.

"Then back at home then. Okay, Daddy?"

"I suppose." He sighed.

"As long as we get cake, Daddy," Karina said.

"You need to eat dinner first," Severus reminded her.

"I can do that. Daddy, you should open your gift," Karina said.

"How about we open it together?" he asked.

"Okay, Daddy!"

They opened the bag to find another potions book that he'd been wanting; a healing book.

"Thank you," he said tenderly, leaning forward to kiss me.

I felt surprised when he held his lips longer to mine; he wasn't big on public displays of affection.

"Do I get a kiss too, Daddy?" Karina asked.

Severus grinned as he gave Karina a quick kiss as well.

"Here are your drinks," the waitress said, setting down a glass of wine in front of Severus.

"Thank you for my milk," Karina said when she was handed a small cup of milk.

"You're welcome, honey." The waitress smiled at Karina as I took my glass of wine. "She's such a precious little girl."

"Thank you," Severus said.

I took a sip of wine and sighed. I needed a night out with my family to relax and unwind. Severus cleared his throat and shifted in his seat.

"You okay, Severus?" I asked.

He nodded. "I actually got you something."

"Me something? But it's your birthday, Severus," I argued.

"I've had this for two weeks, and it seems like a good time to give it to you." He cleared his throat again as he place a black box in front of me.

I looked between him and the black box.

"What is it, Severus?" I asked.

"You should open it, Mummy," Karina encouraged.

With a shaking hand, I reached forward. My heart beat out of my chest and I opened it to reveal a simple diamond placed in a silver band.

"Will you marry me, Anna?" Severus said quietly.

"Oh, Severus. Of course I'll marry you," I said just as quietly.

I felt like screaming that I was getting married, but I knew he'd not want the attention from the restaurant, even though it wasn't crowded. I made a half sobbing, half laugh as he put it on my finger.

"Daddy, are you going to marry Mummy?" Karina asked.

"Yes, I am." Severus eyes sparkled for once as they never left my face.

"That makes me so happy. We're going to be a real family!" Karina declared.

"Yes, we are," I said hugging my fiancé and daughter.
