This will be the last chapter, my friends. It's been a fun journey. Thanks for reading and don't forget to review. If you need another Severus fic, I've started A Bride for Severus, so check it out. Severus' point of view:
I held two blue bundles in my arms, never looking away from their faces. My sons were asleep as was their mother. It was well after midnight, I was exhausted, but I couldn't sleep. I couldn't put my two boys down. Their faces captured my attention as I held them close to me.
Eli and Henry's faces were identical. The little noses slopped down, their top lip was thin while their bottom lip was fuller. They both had a tuff of straight black hair on top of their heads. Poppy teased us about them not needing hats to keep them warm. They had enough hair to do that.
I've waited a long time to meet you, I thought.
Stirring from the bed made me look up. Anna rolled over, faced me, and opened her eyes.
"How are they?" she asked.
"Sleeping," I replied. "Just like you should be doing."
"Just needed to check on them." She propped herself on her elbow. "Shouldn't you be sleeping too?"
"Our sons have me captivated," I said in a hushed whispered. I wouldn't want anyone else to hear that.
"It's strange to love someone you've just met, isn't it?" Anna smiled at me, and I nodded.
"Very strange."
A whimpering from my arms caused Anna to sit up. Eli's face scrunched up and turned red as he started to cry. Anna took Eli into her arms to nurse him.
"Shhh, Eli," Anna said. "You'll wake your brother."
"He does seem dead to the world," I muttered, looking at Henry's face.
"I'm guessing he'll be our heavy sleeper." Anna smiled as Eli started to nurse.
She ran her fingers over his cheeks, making his eyes flutter shut. I smiled as I sat with my family. It didn't feel complete without Karina here, but she'd meet her new brothers soon enough. I stood, deciding to change Henry's diaper before he woke to be fed. We'd wake him as soon as Eli was done to keep them on the same schedule. Throughout the change, he didn't even wake. A door opened to my left, making me glance up. Minerva stepped into the room in her dressing gown.
"Who's watching Karina?" I asked, picking up Henry.
"A house elf. I was too excited not to see the babies," she said, smiling down at Henry in my arms.
"More like you wanted to hold them before anyone else," I replied dryly.
"I don't know what you mean." Minerva's mouth formed a thin line.
"Hmmm," I said. "I remember when other staff members had babies, the women in the castle clamoring to hold the baby first."
Minerva shot me a look that said to be quiet.
"Oh, what a precious baby," Minerva said, bending down to see Henry. "May I hold him?"
"Of course." I held out the baby for her.
"Hello, you precious boy," Minerva said cooing down at the baby, who rustled in her arms. "Welcome to the world. You've got the most excellent parents."
She kissed his head. He made a face in his sleep.
"None of that now, young man," she scolded gently. "I shall give you a kiss if I want."
"And you better get used to them, Henry," I said. "You'll have several aunts here that'll insist on giving you kisses."
Minerva shot me another look. "You act like its torture."
"Your words, not mine." I shrugged.
A piercing cry came from Eli's mouth.
"Is it time for food?" Minerva asked.
"Just in time," Anna said with Eli burping on her shoulder. "Will you finish burping him?"
I nodded and moved to take my son and the burping cloth. I moved him to my shoulder and patted his back, eventually earning a large belch from him. I moved him to the crook of my arm to rock my boy. Life couldn't be better.
A few hours later, we woke early to feed and change the boys again, feeling glad that there was two of us to help with taking care of them. After eating breakfast while the boys napped in their bassinet, the doors opened to have Karina, most of the school's professors, and, to my surprise, Hagrid.
"Mummy, Mummy!" Karina yelled as she ran toward Anna.
"Shhh," I said intercepting her and picking her up. "Your brothers are sleeping."
"Okay, Daddy." She hugged my neck. "I want to hug Mummy. I was missing her and missing her."
"Be careful. Mummy's tired." I set the girl in her mother's lap.
"Hello, Mummy." Karina hugged Anna.
"Hello, Karina." She kissed Karina's curls. "How are you today?"
"Very happy. I had candies, and Mr. Hagrid let me play with his big doggy, and Aunt M had a movie for everyone to watch," Karina explained. "And I'm very ready to meet my brothers."
Anna laughed. "They are ready to meet you, my love."
I picked up Eli. "This is Eli."
"Oh my. I love him very much," she said sitting across Anna's lap.
"He loves you too," Anna said.
"Make sure you hold him across your lap," I said. "And hold his head like this because he doesn't know how yet."
"Like this?" she asked, cupping her hand.
"Good girl."
I placed the baby in his sister's arms.
"Wow. I'm good at this," Karina said while Eli yawned and continued to sleep.
We chuckled. I picked up Henry and sat next to the bed. I wasn't ready to share my family with the others yet.
"I'm very happy you and Mummy made babies, Daddy," Karina said.
"I am too," I replied.
"We were supposed to be the five us of," Karina declared.
"I think she's right, Severus." Anna gave me a huge smile.
I smiled, knowing that I was supposed to be a part of this family. To live a life that I thought I was supposed to have with someone else. I silently thanked that I hadn't ended up with Lily or died that day in the shack. Joy filled me as I sat with my new family and life.
