Chapter 21 Pain in the Ass Pasts

Claude's Point of View

This is going to be fun. I hope Pardloe's little mistake, ends Niall's attempt to marry Sookie off. I find Niall in his office, with the biggest smile on his face. This may help my chances. "Hello Grandfather, how was your day?" I ask.

"Just wonderful, your sister is with child. She will be staying here for the duration of her pregnancy." He gushed. I was not aware that Claudine and Colman were at that stage.

"That is good news. Unfortunately I have some unsavory news. I was with Sookie today. I introduced myself and started talking to her about what it means to be a fairy. While we were talking, Preston Pardloe popped into the room. I thought that I should tell you. I felt that it was unseemly for him to be there, before they had been formally introduced. It seems this was not the first time they had met. Once he left I asked Sookie about this, she told me he has visited her in her dreams." I explain.

"You have done the right thing Claude. I will have a conversation, with his father about etiquette and proper procedures. Did she seem to like him?" He questioned.

"I am not sure. She appeared to be annoyed when he popped into the room."

"That will have to be addressed. I want the aid of his family and Sookie was the key to that." He paused for a moment before asking another question. "How are you getting along with her?"

"I only got to spend a short time with her today, but I think we will be fast friends."

"That is good. I need you to get her to trust you enough, that when I come to meet her, she will be open to it. Spend as much time as you can with her over the next several weeks. Has she shown any sign of power development?"

"I talked her threw her first teleportation today. She did it rather quickly. I think that she will be a fast learner." I answer holding back that she is going to be getting a boost for the fairy light water. I can only imagine how happy he will be with that development. However, he may ask questions as to why she needed it in the first place. Uncle doesn't want Niall to know of the vampires just yet. Thinking of Uncle I will need to speak to him soon.

"Just wonderful, I would like you, to train her with all of her powers as she matures. I also expect to be kept abreast of any new powers. I may have to change the terms of her betrothal contract, if she is more powerful than first thought." His face becomes contemplative.

"Of course, Grandfather." I bow my head.

"Speaking of betrothal contracts, are you any more inclined to think of marriage?" It always came back to that question. He knew I was a lover of men. He even went so far as to look the other way with my "dalliances" with human males.

"No Grandfather, you know my stance on this issue."

"I do but, I also need those that are able, to procreate and help to repopulate our race. Grandson I do not care if you have affairs on the side as long as you create a viable offspring with a fairy wife. It is your duty as part of this house."

"I will marry when I find a wife that is accepting of having a guy husband." I am so frustrated with him. "Good day Grandfather." I pop back to my house outside of Monroe.

Sookie's Point of View

So I probably should have let Godric put me to sleep. I really don't like flying. It is just fine for Eric and Godric, they have been doing it without planes longer then planes have even existed. I was close to trying to pop away when we hit a patch of turbulence. The only problem with that would have been, outing me even further to King Davis. I look over at Barry when I hear a giggle in my head. "What are you laughing at?" I question him.

"Sorry, but you look like you are going to squeeze their hands off." His eyes went to where my hands were linked with both guys. I loosened my grip slightly watching the color come back to my hands.

"How are you not freaking out? If I can help it, we are never flying again."

"I have gotten used to it with Stan. This is what your second time flying? By the like eight time it won't phase you at all. If you want we can talk about something else to get your mind off it." He offered.

"You never answered my question earlier about your life before getting hooked up with the king."

"Well there is not a lot to talk about their. My parents both died when I was young. I lived with my crazy aunt until I was eighteen. I was never real good at school, you know trying to keep everyone out and still do your work is hard. Everyone at school thought I was nuts. One of my teachers approached my aunt about having me committed. I had a bad day in her class and everyone was thinking so loud because we were taking a test. Well I couldn't keep them out and finally yelled at all of them to shut the hell up. The only problem was that no one was talking except in my head. I spent a year and eleven months in a psych ward after, I tried to explain that the voices in my head were too loud."

"Oh, Barry I am sorry. I know how it feels. I guess not the psych ward business but I had a hard time in school too. Thankfully I had my Gran or I am sure I would have been in the same boat as you." I felt so bad for him not to have the support I did. "How did you get out?"

"They medicated me to the point where I was acting "normal" for their standards. It takes a lot out of you when you are stuck, surrounded by actual insane people. I had started to give up, think maybe they were right that I really was crazy. I did everything I could to prove that nothing was wrong with me. They deemed me fit to go home. This was right after vampires came out to the world. I figured if there was something like vampires in the world then maybe I was not crazy. I didn't want to stay with my aunt so I got a job working at a hotel in Dallas. It was the one that we just stayed at. Anyway I was working there for about three months, when Stan had a meeting with a group of human politicians and some other vamps in one of the conference rooms. I was working as part of room service at the time and brought in warmed blood and food. Stan seemed to know what I was right away and offered me a job. He was willing to pay me to use my curse. I was reluctant until I spent more time with him. He is really not that bad of a guy." Barry smiled while his thoughts turned to the king and the various conversations they have had. King Davis treated him like an equal, which seemed to be all Barry wanted.

We were pulled out of our conversation by King Davis. "You two, do know that it is rude to have a silent conversation, with the rest of us here." He had a smile on his face.

"Sorry your highness, Barry was just trying to calm me down. I am not comfortable flying and he was trying to distract me." I apologized.

"No worries then, but perhaps next time you would be willing to have your conversation out loud." He paused before continuing. "What is it you do Sookie?"

I looked at the guys for a moment before answering. "I am a student. I am studying English and Literature. Speaking of, I really am going to have to go to back to class. I can't miss any more than I have."

"Of course I would not want to keep you from your studies. I am sure Barry and these two can entertain themselves while you are gone. Or better yet you could take Barry with you." He said it in such a way that it was hard to argue. The guys continued to talk the rest of the flight. I started to space off thinking about surreal life has been for the last few days. I met Godric, caught Eric's thief, had my house burnt, met my long lost fairy grandfather, met another telepath, saved a vampire from a crazy church with the other telepath, almost got blown up. Found out I am part fairy and can teleport or pop from place to place, met two more fairies, one my cousin, and the other is supposed to be my intended. Learned that my great grandfather is a fairy prince and is trying to marry me off, while finding out the vampire queen of Louisiana wants me as her own personal telepathic pet. She sent the most annoying and creepy vampire to woe me to her side. Did I forget anything, oh yeah started a blood bond with not one but two vampires, in an attempt to protect myself from the deranged vampire queen and my fairy great grandfather.

My cell phone lit up when we taxied up to the hanger in Shreveport. Why was Jason calling at this time of night?

"Hello?" I answered my phone cautiously.

"Hey Sookie, so…um… I am gona need your help with something. You think you can stop by the house tomorrow?"

"I have class but I can probably stop in on the way home. What do you need?" I ask think he must need something mended or cleaned.

"Well you won't believe it but I got some unexpected visitors tonight. Did you know Hadley is alive and has little boy?" My heart stopped when he said her name.

"Is she there? What does she want?"

"Yeah she is, she brought her kid and baby daddy with. The guy comes off as an asshole but the kid is ok. The thing is they need your help. I told Hadley I didn't know if you would want to help but I said I would ask."

"Jase get to the point."

"Hunter is a real special boy if you get my drift. Anyway Hadley and the kids dad need some help with him." He explains.

"Tell them I will think about it. I will have my answer for you tomorrow, when I stop by."

"That is all they want. I'll let you go, so you can get back to whatever it was you were doing. Bye Sook."

"Bye Jason." I hung up shaking my head. I don't know if I should get involved with this. On one hand they are family and I should help them just for that. On the other she was never kind to me, and I am sure she is the one to sell me out the queen.

"Ma petite what was that about? What did you brother want?" Godric asked me silently.

"I am sure you all heard but apparently Hadley showed up at Jason's house tonight with her son and baby daddy in tow. Hadley wants my help with her son. Jason made it sound like, he is like me." I thought back at him.

"If that is the case then I will go with you tomorrow night to meet your second cousin." He answered reassuringly placing a kiss on my cheek. I leaned into his side as we walked down the steps to a familiar, waiting SUV. Pam popped out of the driver's side.
