AN: Hi all. So I thought I was getting over my cold but it came back and brought a friend. I spent much of the week with my head in a bucket or sitting in the bathroom pondering my existence. As such I had a lot of time to think and write in-between eruptions. Enough of my issues I hope you like this chapter. New things will be coming to light. Anyway let me know what you think and thanks to everyone that reviewed. I will try to get them answered soon.

Chapter 23 Thoughts and Desires

Sookie's Point of View

I could tell almost instantly after I fell asleep that I was having a dream, or at least I hope I was. I was sitting near the pond Preston popped out of gazing up at the sky. The biggest difference this time was that the sky was dark and filled with stars. I looked around trying to find a familiar constellation, but none of them looked familiar. I heard a chuckle to my left and whipped my head in that direction.

"Girl you won't see any you know, because this sky is from a time before even your Viking existed." I can see a woman with long silvery hair, when she turns to face me I am surprised to see her eyes are milky white. Her skin has a soft glow even its aged state. Her dress reminded me of something out of Greek Mythology.

"How did you know what I was thinking?" Other than Barry I had not run into anyone that could see into my own mind.

"Child I know a great many things, but to answer that question simply I am or was like you once. You may call me Pythia." She smiled unseeing at me. "There are a few things I wish to talk with you about. This seemed like the best way to have an uninterrupted conversation."

"Ok" I respond not know what to say.

"Good, now while I would have loved to see you in person, as you can tell it would not have mattered much either way." Her smile widens. "I want you to take care of you small cousin. He is going to need you. That boy has more power in him then you did at his age. I know you will be seeing him later today. His father is not to be trusted. He would sooner sell his son than take care of him. As for the mother her future is still in the air."

"Ok but could you be a little more specific? I mean what can he do?" I asked confused.

"That is not for me to tell. You will know when you meet him. Next I mean to warn you of the war that is coming. It may not be your war to fight but you need to be prepared."

"Again can you please give me more details? How am I supposed to be prepared, if I don't know what to look for?" I am starting to get frustrated with her.

"It is not for me to interfere. I know all too well what happens when I do. One more piece of advice be kind and accepting of the fairy. He will be able to protect you when others are not. Now my dear I need to leave. Tell my son and you Viking hello for me." She placed a kiss to my cheek and wrapped me in her red glimmering shawl. With that she disappeared. The sky lightened and I woke up.

I woke with a start. What was that about? What did she mean by her son? I shake my head and look around. The red glimmering shawl is still draped over my shoulders. I look to my right and see Godric resting. I smile, I find that I can't wait for him to be up. I lean over and stroke his hair from his eyes. He looks so peaceful in his rest. I pause to wonder where Eric is but I suppose he had other things to do last night. I look at the clock and groan. I hate when I wake before my alarm goes off. I might as well get up and get ready. With one last look at Godric I slip out of bed. I get dressed deciding that I quite like the shawl and find a warm yellow dress to wear with it. I look for my backpack. It is resting on the far side of the room next to the door. I smile the guys must have gotten it out for me. Pinned to it was a note.

Lover,

I took the liberty of getting your bag ready for the day. Also you will find the keys to my cars hanging in the garage. Take whatever car your heart desires. Bobby is off running errands this morning so is unable to drive you. I will see you when you return this evening.

I smile at the note, pick up my bag and make my way down stairs. I find a sleepy Barry sitting at the kitchen counter, nursing a huge cup of coffee. He smiles when I sit next to him.

"I just have to eat and then we can hit the road. It is not too late to stay." I offer.

"No, it's not like I have anything else to do today. Stan sent Mark out to get a backpack and stuff so I would look the part. I can't not go now." He gestured to his own bag.

"Ok, have you eaten yet?" I ask noticing that Kat is nowhere to be found. I guess it must be her day off.

"No all I could find was the coffee."

"Well what do you want? I am sure I can find something." I say hopping off the stool and making my way to the fridge. I find a carton of eggs, cheese and ham stakes.

"Whatever you want is fine. You get breakfast; Stan gave me cash so lunch is on me." I got to work beating the eggs and frying off the ham stakes. We ate in comfortable silence. I decided we would take Eric's BMW as it was the least conspicuous car. We ride into campus and I drove us strait to the parking division. I needed to get a temporary parking pass for the car. After that I went and parked outside the building of my first class. We found two seats together up at the back of the lecture hall. As predicted, class was rather boring, to pass the time we play find the mind. It was actually really fun. One of us would zero in on a thought and the other had to figure out who the person was. On arrival at my second class we found that it and the next one had been cancelled for the day. With suddenly hours of free time we decided to head to the mall. I wanted to go look at the book store and Barry just wanted to look around. Around noon we stopped at a drive through and headed back to the house. We took our lunch out to sit in the back garden.

Claude's Point of View

I found Sookie and her little friend sitting in the back garden. I could tell from his smell that he was in part not entirely human. The first thought I had in regards was that he was must be part demon. From his appearance he must be more on the human side of things. I would bet one of his great grandparents a half demon. Either way it was nice for her to have a friend that she could have something in common with. I could feel in my head when they noticed me. I must not have been cloaking myself completely. "Hello darling cousin." I great making my way to where they are sitting.

"Hi Claude, this is Barry. Barry this is my cousin Claude." She introduces us. He nodes his head at me, it seems he has been spending too much time around vampires.

"So Sookie, have you taken any more of your fairy light water?" I ask plopping down on the lounger.

"No I was kind of afraid to do it without you here. Should I … I mean is it safe or should I not take any more of it at all? Is it safe to take it with all the vampires in the house? I mean are they going to try and eat me… I mean any more then they usually do?" She erupted with questions.

"I think that as long as you can trust the vampires in the house it would not be a problem. I am kind of fascinated to see what else you will be able to do. In my own morbid way, I want to see how fairy we can make you." I admit. I smile really looking at her for the first time today. I notice the wrap, she has arranged around her shoulders and pause. No surly not.

She hears my thought and questions. "What is wrong with my shawl?"

"Nothing per say but where did you get it? I know of only one being in the entire universe that has access to that cloth."

"I got it in my dream last night." Why would that old bat want anything to do with her?

"Never mind, why don't you go and get one of your vials and drink it after you finish eating." I encourage. I notice that the boy has yet to say anything aloud. I wonder if they talk in their heads a lot of the time. Sookie leaves the two of us to sit out here while she retrieves the vial. The boy Barry stairs at me with a hard to read look on his face. Sort of like he is trying to pick my mind apart.

"So do I just drink it and see what happens? Do you think something is going to happen right away?" She asks resuming her seat.

"I don't know for sure. The only way to find out is to drink up." She gently uncorks the vial and downs it. I can see it glowing in her skin instantaneously. "Now we wait. Do you feel any different?"

"Not really." The conversation stalls as we sit waiting. We sit there silently for what seems like ages when suddenly small fluffy kitten appears in Sookie's lap. She gasps and then starts to giggle.

"How did you do that?" Silent boy speaks up for the first time.

"I don't know. I was just sitting here thinking about how I missed my cat and that I had been thinking about getting a new one. My old one Tina die. Then suddenly this little guy was here. Is this a new power? Can fairies normally conjure things from nowhere?" She turns her attention to me.

"Honestly I have only heard of Grandfather being able to do that. Try to make something else appear." She closes her eyes and appears to concentrate. A pair of milkshake appears on the table.

"Cool Sookie. See if you can do something bigger. I always wanted a motor cycle." Not more than a minute later a shiny new Harley is sitting on the grass.

"Sookie I want to see if you can do this with a person. I am going to pop home. I want you to imagine me sitting right here where I am. It is really important that you think hard about this. I would prefer not to end up in pieces." I smile at her standing up.

"Ok pop away and give me a couple of minutes." I do as she asks. I pop into my living room and wait. After six minutes, I feel the tug of popping and I am sitting next to her again.

"That my dear is the gift of desire. You will be able to essentially think about anything and it will appear in front of you. I have to warn you not to over use it. This one will make you tiered really quickly if you over do it." As I say this she yawns. "On that note I think we should leave it there for the day. I think we should wait a few days before you take another dose, just in case. I don't want you to have too many new powers to get used to all at once. If something new pops up wish for me to be here, I will help you work through it." With that I peck her on the cheek and return home.
