Thank you so much (again) for all the lovely reviews, follows, favs, and support for this story! I'm happy to say that I have taken time to figure out the direction I want to take with this story, so I hope you enjoy! Sadly, I will be going out of town for a few weeks, so this will probably be the last chapter until August. :( But don't worry - I will be writing tons in August!

Chapter 19

"Did you seriously think about the impact in the workplace? Of this relationship?" Diane was slightly worried that a reconciliation might endanger the prosperity of both LG and Florrick/Agos. Being selfish towards her own firm, she was slightly more concerned about LG. But still.

Not to mention her actions being driven by her suspicions about Will's unusually happy demeanor so far today.

It was nearly six o'clock, and Diane was starting to feel tired from her busy workday. At least it was Friday. She could turn off her alarm and sleep in tomorrow morning. The idea of sleep suddenly sounded appealing.

But she couldn't yet. She had to tackle the task at hand.

"First of all, how did you even hear about us getting back together?" Cary asked, angry that his reconciliation with Kalinda had gone unexpectedly public. As he remembered that he'd told Alicia, Diane replied, "Will told me."

"What?" Kalinda said, surprised, "And who told Will? Surely…"

"Alicia," Cary said, finished Kalinda's train of thought. "Why are you talking to us anyway?"

"Because I don't want your relationship endangering either of your firms. While I do adore love," she said, slightly sarcastically, "I care about my firm. And yours, Cary."

When both Kalinda and Cary remained silent, Diane continued, "I just want to make clear that you are free to have a personal life, but it must be intertwined with your professional life."

Kalinda looked at Cary, realizing that her hand was wrapped in his. Cary, stunned and somewhat angry at Diane's unexpected forwardness, said, "Thank you. You've made yourself clear. Now if you'll excuse me, I have a dinner meeting with a client that I'm about to be late for." Without saying anymore to either woman in the room, he quickly exited and headed for the lobby. Kalinda, after glancing at Diane, ran after Cary. She managed to stop him just before he pressed the call button for the elevator.

Alicia parked her car in a very familiar underground garage and easily found her way to the elevators, which were positioned almost exactly in the middle of the garage level. Her fingers found their own way to the button for Floor 28, and the doors soon closed and the elevator moved upward. However, it wasn't moving for long, as the doors opened on the next garage level.

To reveal Will waiting on the other side.

Surprised, Alicia said, "Hi."

"Hi," Will replied, equally surprised. As the elevators doors closed and he discovered that the button for Floor 28 was already illuminated, he had no choice but to look over at Alicia. She was so beautiful. Like really beautiful. He was glad that she started talking because she stopped his train of thought. "So, I would have thought that you would have been in work today? Why are you just coming in?"

"I was in court for a couple of hours, and I need to pick up a few files and sign off on some stuff before the weekend," Will replied, "Although, I'm more surprised to find you in this elevator on a Friday evening."

"Well," Alicia said, "I received a voicemail from Diane saying that she wanted to meet with me tonight. So, here I am."

"Did she say what it was about?" Will asked as he pulled up his voicemail list on his phone. As Alicia replied, "No," Will discovered a new voicemail from Diane on his phone. Weird. He put his phone to his ear and Diane's slightly stressed voice filled his ear.

"Will, it's Diane. I know you might be coming in after court anyway, but if you could make time to stop by – I need to talk to you about something. See you tonight." Really weird, Will thought to himself. "What was that?" Alicia asked. The elevator had proceeded to stop three more times, once in the garage, once in the lobby, and once on floor 5. They were now alone again.

"Just manager-related stuff," Will lied, not wanting to make Alicia concerned like he was. He turned towards her, and on an impulse, leaned forward and kissed her. She moved to lean against the side of the elevator. As their faces separated a little, Alicia smiled and said, "What?"

Will responded by kissing her again, and when Alicia saw the floor numbers quickly rising on the elevator screen into the mid-20s, she gently pushed Will away and straightened her jacket. Will looked at her in confusion that was then clarified as he felt the elevator slow to a stop.

Kalinda could tell that Cary was agitated, and said, "Cary? How do you think Will found out from Alicia?"

Cary, having suspicions of his own, responded, "I have my suspicions."

"What do you mean? Do you want me to look into it?"

"No. They deserve their privacy, even if we have been robbed of ours."

"Cary…" Kalinda said, silently begging him to calm down. "Do you want to stay here for a bit? Or go grab a drink?"

"Didn't you hear me? I have a dinner meeting with a client!" Cary replied, irritated that Kalinda had seemed to have forgotten his comment to Diane. He then sighed, trying to clear his head, and said, "Sorry. I'll call you later and we can talk, okay?"

Before Kalinda could respond, the elevator door in front of them opened, and Kalinda was surprised to find not only Alicia, but Will, in the elevator facing them. They looked surprised as well, and Kalinda couldn't see that Cary was stunned and trying to suppress his urge to laugh.

Still looking at Will and Alicia, Kalinda replied to Cary's request, which had suddenly taken on more meaning than when he had asked the question. "Sure," she replied.
