Double Act
Chapter 27: Wormhole
Part I
A/N: So here's the SPD/Dino Thunder team up that takes place while the kids are still in high school. The other SPD/Dino Thunder team up will happen in the SPD story of this series. Anyway, last time, the rangers found out Zeltrax was back and was destroying a tree to reach the fountain of youth underneath it. Once more, the rangers stopped him, but noticed he was working alone for now. So what's going to happen when the group gets some visitors from the future?
Also, for this series, the Samurai, SPD, and RPM stories take place in the future, so they aren't in the years they are originally set in. Samurai will be set in 2027-2028, SPD in 2029, and RPM in either 2032 or 2031.
Important AN at the end.
Disclaimer: I only own things not originally in the show.

"So how are we just learning about your parents begin rangers?" Elizabeth "Z" Delgado asked the tall, blonde haired boy beside her. "I mean, I get they were just here because of something to do with their power source, but how the hell did we not figure it out sooner?" For most of the rangers on B-squad, they were just learning about the ranger heritage of two of their teammates.
The blonde, Ryder, simply shrugged. "We weren't exactly trying to hide it, but we weren't going to flaunt it, either."
"Didn't you guys watch the video diary?" his cousin, Bailey, a smaller girl with light brown hair, wondered. "I mean, it's in the rec room for a reason."
"But you still didn't tell us," Sky pointed out.
"We didn't think it'd be that important," Ryder answered. "You guys know our parents never worked for SPD like yours did, so how do you think we got our powers?"
"They do have a point," Bridge admitted. Before they could continue their argument, which had been going on for the past week, the alarms went off.
"Let's go guys," Jack ordered.
The seven rangers ran into the control room, where their commander, Anubis "Doggie" Cruger, was observing the monitors with his assistant Kat Manx. The two adults were confused at what they were seeing and the alarms would not stop blaring. Kat had also called them there while they were heading there, which was a bit unnecessary as they had gotten used to things during their time as rangers. When they entered, Jack was the first to speak.
"What's going on?" he asked.
"Gruumm is gone," Cruger reported. "And so is his ship."
"Yes," Sky realized. "He's retreated!"
"We won!" Jack cheered.
"Hold it," Ryder cut in, stopping them from cheering. "I hate to rain on this parade, but Gruumm wouldn't just give up."
Bailey agreed. "If he's disappeared, he's probably planning something big. He may be gone, but he could come back."
"I know my enemy," Cruger backed them up. "He does not retreat."
"Commander," Kat got their attention. "I found something. I was scanning the far reaches of the Tenarian Nebula when I found this."
"A wormhole?" Cruger frowned, seeing the image. Ryder moved over to one of the computers and began typing away. It was not unusual to see him do this.
"Yes," Kat nodded. "A temporal wormhole. And there are traces of Troobian energy inside the rim."
"Sounds like retreating to me," Jack muttered.
Cruger turned back to the rangers. "That's what he wants us to think."
"Sir, then where is he going?" Sky wondered.
"Not where," Ryder corrected. "But when. And it looks like things are going to get interesting."
Everyone turned to him, slightly confused.
2004
For the dino rangers, it was just another bright and sunny day at school with nothing happening so far. Kira, Ethan, and Trent were hanging out in the courtyard as the end of the day neared. Trent was lying in the grass, sketching the other two rangers who were on the bench. Ethan was playing a handheld game while Kira was strumming her guitar, waiting for her sister and Hunter to arrive. Kennedi had disappeared with the boy earlier in the day when he arrived, but only Kira knew it. She knew they had a lot of things to discuss. Conner had yet to be seen as well.
"Great," Ethan huffed. "I was just about to defeat the dreaded Maxodrone when his evil ship comes by and destroys all that I've done. Can you believe it?"
"It's just a game, Ethan," Kira reminded him gently.
"Yeah," Trent agreed. "You're acting as if it's real."
"You forget that to him, it is," Kennedi appeared, Hunter in tow. Kira saw the two holding hands, so she figured that things were going well for them.
"Did you two…" Kira trailed off, knowing that Trent and Ethan still had no idea Kennedi was pregnant. Thankfully, it was still early enough in it where she wasn't showing yet.
Kennedi huffed. "Apparently Leanne can't keep her mouth shut, so she filled everyone in."
"What are you two talking about?" Trent wondered.
"It's best not to question them," Hunter piped up. He sat on the arm rest of the bench as Kennedi occupied the spot beside her sister. Judging by the way he had his arm around the orange ranger, the boys figured this was Kennedi's boyfriend. "You'll only end up more confused."
"Says the guy who knows the exact amount of time he's been dating my sister," Kira rolled her eyes. "What is it up to now?"
"Two years, three days, four hours, and twenty seven minutes," Hunter smirked. Kennedi giggled while the other three gave him strange looks.
"That is creepy," Trent muttered.
Ethan shook his head. "But what if this game is real? What if it's really an ancient diary telling me about a real event that happened in a distant galaxy far, far away?"
"Ethan, your mind is the only thing that's far, far away," Kennedi joked. A red and white soccer ball rolled toward them. Ethan stopped it with his foot as Conner appeared.
"Hey guys," he greeted. "Hey Hunter." Hunter nodded in return. He and Conner had met a couple times before, back when he and Kennedi had first started dating. "What's up?"
"Ethan's giving us a history lesson on something he learned on his handheld geekboy," Kira replied with a grin. Trent snickered once more as Ethan shot the girls a glare.
"All right, you're right," he relented. "It's not ancient galactic history. But it could be, in the future."
"You're looking way too much into it," Hunter shook his head, amused.
Ethan looked to him. "And what exactly do you know about it?"
"Nothing," Hunter shrugged. "I am more focused on living in the here and now and keeping up with my army training."
"Either way," Conner added. "You have to remember it's just a game."
As soon as the words left his mouth, loud yelling began to fill their ears as the sky darkened considerably. The rangers and Hunter turned their attention to the sky, seeing a huge dark ship passing over them. They followed it with their eyes, watching it take off and land somewhere in the woods. While students scrambled to get out of the school, the five rangers shared a look.
Then they all bolted for the woods.

"A wormhole is a thin tube of space-time connecting distant regions of the universe," Kat explained to four of the seven rangers. Before her and Cruger stood Bridge, Z, Ryder, and Jack, the four chosen to go figure out what Gruumm was up to. They figured it was safer to send only half the team in case something happened in the present day that needed the rangers' attention. "That could provide the possibility of time travel."
"Einstein's theory of relativity," Bridge nodded, understanding. Kat nodded as well.
"I believe Gruumm has become frustrated with the resistance SPD is showing," Cruger added. "And has decided to take the terror and his battle into the past where victory will be certain."
"It's a cheap shot," Ryder scoffed. "If he knows that he ended up in a time with rangers who are still fighting their enemy, he could easily take over."
"We can't just let him do that," Z turned to the blonde.
"We're not," Ryder rolled his eyes. "We're going after him. Which means we're going into the wormhole."
"I am sending just the four of you," Cruger continued. "I can't leave the present unprotected. Ryder, where you know the most about the time you are travelling to, you will be in charge of this mission." Ryder and Jack shared a look of understanding. "Say your goodbyes and report to Delta Launch in five minutes."
The rangers left the room.
2004
The five rangers and Hunter found themselves now hiking through the woods, trying to find the ship that landed here somewhere. They already figured out that there was no way it belonged to Mesogog, as he had an island fortress and no use for a space ship. Hunter was carrying Kennedi on his back because she asked him to. This prompted Kira to roll her eyes in annoyance while the boys looked slightly amused.
"Okay," Kira finally changed the subject. "Next time you predict the future like this, could you at least make me and Ken pop stars?"
"I didn't know it was gonna come true," Ethan shrugged, smiling a bit.
"We should find Dr. O," Trent stated.
Zeltrax appeared and gained their attention. "Well, you found me instead."
"At least it's a familiar face," Conner muttered.
"Rangers, we fight again," Zeltrax snarled. Just as they got ready to fight, the ship from earlier appeared and snatched Zeltrax. The rangers watched him vanish in a flash of light before the ship took off again.
"Now that's something you don't see every day," Conner sighed.
"Whatever just happened, it doesn't look good for you guys," Hunter agreed.
"I wonder what they wanted with Zeltrax," Trent commented as they continued on with their hike. They had deiced to head toward the dino lab to see if Tommy knew anything. Kennedi was now walking on the ground with them, still holding hands with Hunter.
"Does it really matter?" the orange ranger wondered. "Hopefully they'll take him into space and sell him for scrap metal."
"It's all good," Ethan nodded. "Zeltrax is gone and so are they."
"Yeah but they aren't," Conner halted their movements, spotting a smaller vehicle standing on the ground and four people in similar uniforms walking out. It was still a big vehicle, but compared to the ship they just saw, it was smaller.
Ryder, Jack, Bridge, and Z approached the group of six, one of them knowing full well who they were while the others only knew them by name. "Conner, Kira, Kennedi, Ethan," Jack spoke first, cutting Ryder off. "Nice to see you guys again. You must be Trent."
"Idiot," Ryder muttered, smacking his friend upside the head. "What part of not making a big deal out of this did you not understand?"
"Hey, mind telling us what the hell's going on here?" Hunter cut in for the others.
Ryder sighed and took the liberty to explain the story. According to the four, they were a team of rangers from roughly twenty five years into the future and in the previous week their time, four of the dino rangers had been brought to their world and helped them fight off Gruumm. It seemed a little absurd to all of them, considering none of them remembered it. Kennedi was less focused on the story and more focused on the person telling it, getting the sense he was somehow familiar.
"Let me get this straight," Ethan began once the orange ranger of the other team finished. "You guys are from the future? And you're power rangers?"
"And you're chasing an Emperor named Gruumm, who is trying to conquer the future earth."
"And Gruumm came to defeat Earth now," Conner finished up. "So in the future, he will have already conquered Earth."
"And you know these guys because they were brought to the future and helped you out?" Trent concluded.
"Let's go out on a limb and say you're telling us the truth," Conner huffed. "Why don't we remember any of this?"
Bridge smirked. "I know. We erased your memory, because knowledge of the future would have a detrimental effect on it, causing it not to happen in the random manner that it's supposed to happen without you interacting with it."
"What did he say?" Conner frowned, looking at Bridge's teammates.
"Let me simplify it for you, McKnight," Kennedi smirked. "Our memories went poof, we don't kill the timeline, and the future is unaffected." Conner shot a glare at her while Bridge grinned, glad someone understood him.
"How is it that she can understand Bridge and you can't?" Z turned to Ryder. "And Bailey can understand him, but Kira can't?"
"Random genetics?" Ryder shrugged, not really knowing himself.
"What do you mean by random genetics?" Ethan frowned.
Kira answered him this time. "Because he's Ken's future son. And I take it whoever this Bailey person is will be my future daughter?"
"Yup," Ryder confirmed.
"Should we be telling them that?" Jack asked.
"Doesn't exactly matter if we're going to erase their memories anyway," Ryder explained. "And last time, they figured out who exactly Bailey and I were as soon as they saw us, so why wouldn't they this time? And before you guys ask, I will not say when certain things happen," he finished, looking at the dino rangers.
Jack's morpher beeped. He pulled it out and read it. "Krybots. I've got three separate readings, and one unknown thing."
"How should we split up?" Ryder turned to his team. "Gruumm's already teamed up with Mesogog or Zeltrax or someone, so they'll end up fighting with us anyway. And I've got dibs on the unknown thing."
Everyone shared a look.
"I really need to say that this is really freaking weird," Ryder mumbled as he, Kennedi, and Hunter walked through the woods, searching for the unknown thing. The other rangers on both teams went to fight off the Krybots, since all of them could morph. Ryder figured that having the two ninjas go with him would be more beneficial in searching for an unknown object.
"What is?" Hunter wondered. Kennedi was beginning to recognize just what part of the woods they were in.
"The fact that this ranger mission involves me fighting with my parents," Ryder stated. "I know that you guys won't remember it, but it's still a bit weird."
"So what else can you tell us about our future life?" Kennedi asked. "If we're not going to remember anything you tell us, you can let us know, right?"
"Some things," Ryder nodded. "Not everything. Dates I can't give out as those are easier to remember than events. I can tell you that I'm not your oldest kid, though."
Hunter frowned a bit at that. Since Kennedi told him earlier - well, technically Leanne had told him – that she was pregnant thanks to the evil white ranger clone, then that meant that Ryder was not the result, and someone older than him was. "How many siblings do you have?"
"This is where I have to hold back some information," Ryder sighed. "I have an older brother and an older sister, and two younger sisters. All of us inherited some sort of power from you two aside from our ninja abilities."
"You said from us two," Kennedi noted. "Does that mean the five of you are mine and Hunter's?" Ryder chose not to answer, mentally cursing himself for not realizing that she would've picked up on that. "What about my child with…"
"Unfortunately that's something I cannot discuss as it's rather complicated," Ryder cut her off. "But I can tell you it's a boy."
Hunter wrapped an arm around his girlfriend, knowing her mind was trying to comprehend what their future son just said. Ryder stopped moving, his eyes widening at the sight before them. In front of the three was a small tornado of sorts. The only problem was that it wasn't destroying the surrounding area or moving. It looked pretty violent though, and the winds it gave were strong.
"This is new," Ryder stated blankly. "No wonder why it came up as unknown. There's some sort of power in it, but I can't figure out what."
"It's definitely not something an air ninja is controlling," Hunter added. "Ken, any ideas?"
"It looks like something I read about in one of the Pai Zhuq books," she muttered. Ever since she was rescued from Mesogog's lair, Sensei had her taking lessons with the Pai Zhuq academy with one of the best masters there was. "I think…it's some kind of…portal, maybe?"
"Pai Zhuq deals with spirits," Ryder recalled. "Which means, if this is a portal of sorts, it probably leads to the Spirit World."
Kennedi smirked. "Well, only one way to find out."
Before either man could stop her, she bolted out and went right into the tornado, vanishing.
A/N: So where did Kennedi go? Although I kind of already said it. What'll happen next?
Important: So I know I've explained a few times that I'm slow on updating because of school. I still plan on updating things and whatnot as well as working on other stories (I will finish my HOA/PR trilogy, I promise!). However, because my mind is filled with numerous things between new story ideas that don't leave until I start writing them as well as school stuff, I figured I would see how writing a story out in full will work before I post it, with regular updates. I am going to practice that with all my current stories, so if there is a hiatus in me posting anything, that is why. As of right now, I have fully written (but not completed updating) Double Act, Fractured Journey, and up to Chapter 9 of House of the End.
Aside from those, I have started stories that I have yet to post because I don't want to have too much to focus on when I update. Don't worry, my current series haven't been forgotten. Another part of my problem is that I will be working on one story and suddenly want to be working on another, and I end up forgetting about a story or two in the process until I realize I haven't worked on it in a while.
Also, in regards to a poll I did a while ago about what story ideas you would all like to see, I haven't forgotten about that. I stopped the voting for it, and a Once Upon a Time and Power Rangers crossover was first on that list, so it will happen. I already have a TMNT/PR crossover written, but I am not sure if I will post that one or do a new one. I have also started writing a Mortal Instruments/PR crossover, as well as a Power Rangers story (the one with no OC's and not based on a particular season), but I keep getting a bit of writer's block for it. Someone also asked when I was going to be doing a Power Rangers and The Fosters crossover, and I am still working out a couple ideas for it. I am also planning to do a Pretty Little Liars/PR crossover at some point.
That in mind, I have recently become obsessed with the show The 100. As usual, when I discover something I really like, I get story ideas for it in my head. That said, I have a crossover with The 100/Power Rangers in mind, as well as stories on just The 100.
Enough rambling. I will keep you guys updated about that stuff, but for now, I will only be updating stories I have completed (in terms of writing). I will continue writing other stories as well, but have no guarantees as to when they will be out/updated.
