Double Act

Chapter 28: Wormhole

Part II

A/N: Okay, so I didn't plan on making this a two part thing, but hey, I got an idea for it at the last second and decided to incorporate it. Anyway, last time, Hunter was in town to visit Kennedi. A huge spaceship caught their attention as something bad, so they began hiking through the woods, where they met four SPD rangers. Kira and Kennedi knew right away that Ryder would be Kennedi's future son, but only Kennedi knows that he's the son of her and Hunter. Ryder has no issues revealing few things about their future as they were going to have their memories erased anyway, but he's holding back on a few things. Kennedi went through a strange portal thing no one recognized and is now in a different place. What'll happen now?

Also, I apologize for the late updates. I had intended to update earlier, but my recent project and loads of schoolwork has been preventing me from doing so. Plus, the laptop I normally use is not charged because the AC adapter for it died, and when I ordered a new one, it got put on back order (meaning I could only use that laptop for school work but it is now dead). I am currently on my old laptop, which had internet issues (briefly resolved by a very long Ethernet cable). Hopefully I will be back on my other computer soon, and hopefully I can do another update next week (my spring break).

Anyway, thanks for your patience!

Disclaimer: I only own things not originally in the show.

"Hey guys," Jack's voice reached their ears as he caught up to Z and the other dino rangers. She had offered to take them to help her fight off one group of Krybots, but so far, they had found nothing. They paused in their step and saw Bridge was with him. "Wait up!" The two boys reached them as the others turned to them. Z still scanned the area.

"Any luck?" Conner wondered.

"We just ran into a couple of Krybots," Bridge answered. "We took care of them. You?"

"No, nothing," Z reported. "Which doesn't make sense because the Troobian energy around here is off the charts."

At that moment, Kira's cell phone rang. They all turned to her as she dug it out and answered it. "What?"

"Kennedi's gone," Hunter explained quickly, knowing it would be better to get right to the point. "There was some weird tornado thing and she got too close to it and now she's gone."

"What the hell do you mean she's gone?" Kira narrowed her eyes. Conner, sensing that she was becoming angry, placed a hand on her shoulder to calm her down. "Hunter, I swear if anything happens to her I will not hesitate to kill you!"

"You think I know what's going on?" Hunter demanded. "All we know is that one minute, we're watching this weird tornado thing, Ken says something about Pai Zhuq, and then she and the tornado are gone. Ryder's trying to see if he can get traces of it now, see if we can track where she is."

Kira calmed down a little. "So it's definitely nothing to do with whatever else is going on right now?"

"As far as we can tell, it's completely unrelated," Hunter confirmed. "Just giving you the heads up."

"Then get off the damn phone and start looking for her!" Kira hung up, still seething a bit.

"Ken went missing again?" Conner assumed. Kira nodded. The SPD rangers looked confused as to what just happened, not understanding anything that was said in that conversation.

However, before they had the chance to do anything, an explosion caught their attention.

Kennedi groaned as she came to. She had no idea what had happened after she stepped closer to that tornado thing. It was a stupid thing to do, but her sense of adventure overpowered her common sense yet again. She felt bad for scaring Hunter and her sister, knowing her boyfriend would fill Kira in on what happened. When she sat up and looked around, she noticed she was in a bed of sorts in a bedroom, one that was oddly familiar to her.

This freaked her out a bit, as she remembered this being her and Kira's bedroom from when they were little girls, back when their father was alive and before they moved to Reefside. She wondered why she was here and if this was all real. Then the door opened as she sat up further. A figure stepped into the room, carrying a glass of water. When she looked at the figure, she let out a surprised gasp. Standing before her was a tall man with blonde hair, glasses, and a weird uniform. However, it was the face that surprised her.

"Good to see you're awake," he spoke, handing her the glass of water. Still shocked, Kennedi took it. "I was beginning to worry something happened to you."

"Am I dreaming or something?" Kennedi asked. "Is it really you, dad?"

Keith Ford smiled at her, taking a seat on the corner of the bed. "Yes, it is. You're in the Spirit World, but you're not dead."

"Then what am I doing here?" she wondered, her mind still trying to process this. "How did I get here?"

"That tornado you saw was a portal to bring you here," Keith replied. "I don't know why, though, or who opened it. All I know is that we need to talk to other Pai Zhuq masters about getting you home so you can fight against Mesogog."

"How do you know all of that?" Kennedi questioned. Both of them stood and Keith led her out of the house. During the walk, she noticed it was the same house she and Kira lived in during their first four years of life.

"Your mother and I are Pai Zhuq masters, ourselves," Keith explained. "Same thing with your aunt. Though your uncle was the one who started the generation of power rangers in the family, and it seems that and more was passed onto you and Kira. As for how I know about Mesogog, and Lothor too for that matter…well, I have been watching over you two."

Kennedi frowned as they walked outside. The grass was pink and the entire landscape was a beautiful mix of pinks and grey. "Then you know about…"

"Yes," Keith sighed. "And while I hate the fact that it happened, I know that you'll get through it. I'm very proud of you and your sister and the women you two have become. You definitely take after your mother."

"So how do I get back?" Kennedi asked.

"That's for the other Pai Zhuq masters to take care of," Keith stated. "And when you do go back, tell Hunter and Conner they have my blessing."

Kennedi was once more confused.

"Okay, what are those?" Bridge asked as the teenaged rangers from both teams found themselves surrounded by a mix of Krybots and tyranodrones. Ryder had returned to join them upon hearing the explosion and Hunter was hiding in the trees. Since he couldn't morph anymore, he knew it'd be dangerous to fight directly. So, he figured he could help out by using his ninja powers to fight indirectly and whatnot.

"Tyranodrones," Conner answered, not looking too happy.

"Well, let's look on the bright side," Z huffed as they got ready to fight. They already saw Tommy and Zeltrax fighting each other. "It couldn't get any worse."

"You had to say it, didn't you?" Ryder grumbled, seeing a couple more of their enemies landing nearby. Tommy appeared over by the rangers, still morphed.

"Better late than never," he commented. "You guys ready?"

"Black ranger," Jack grinned. "I've read all about you."

Zeltrax's growling caught their attention. "Prepare to be defeated! You don't stand a chance!" The present rangers got ready to morph.

"SPD, Emergency!"

"Dino Thunder, power up!"

"White ranger, dino power!"

"Attack!" Zeltrax ordered.

The evil minions attacked on command, splitting up the rangers. They still seemed to be paired up as they took on the different foot soldiers and alien freaks. Hunter, watching from the trees, began using his thunder powers to strategically take down the foot soldiers. They had no luck finding Kennedi, but right now, they had bigger fish to fry. As expected, Tommy and Zeltrax resumed their fight. It appeared that Zeltrax still wanted revenge on Tommy. A few more rangers appeared, more SPD ones. Sky and Syd helped out Tommy as Bailey went to help her mother. Their final teammate jumped in to help out whoever needed it. Cruger, in his morphed state, helped Tommy up.

Hunter watched confused as he continued helping them from afar. Then he heard something rattling beside him before a small blue portal opened up and dumped out his girlfriend. He caught her before she could fall off the branch. "You're okay," he realized, hugging her.

"I'll explain later," she nodded. "Right now, it seems as if I got to help them out. But first, a little distraction…" She took Hunter's hand and he caught on to her idea. Together, they raised their joined hands and shot out a steady and fast stream of fire mixed with lightning. It zoomed through all of the foot soldiers and aliens on the battlefield. While it confused most of the rangers, the dino rangers figured it meant Kennedi was somehow back with them.

"Orange ranger, dino power!" Kennedi called out through the distraction. She leaped down from the tree and joined her sister in fighting for a minute.

"You're alive!" Kira cried, spotting her twin.

"I'll explain later, I swear," Kennedi vowed. "But after this is over, we're going to pay a visit to dad." Kira frowned but kept her guard up as they continued fighting.

Somehow, all the rangers that were morphed and on the battlefield were standing in a circle, backs facing each other so that the rangers themselves were facing their enemies.

"This is your end, power rangers!" Zeltrax declared. "You are outnumbered! Look at the size of my army!"

"It is true," Cruger spoke up. "You have us outnumbered. But remember, it's not the size of the dog in the fight, it's the size of the fight in the dog. No one gets inside our circle!" This prompted each ranger to repeat the last bit of that statement.

Once more, the fight resumed. Everyone was charging an enemy, Hunter still helping them out where he could. The rangers maintained their circle, not allowing the villains to enter it. By now, the rangers had their weapons drawn and found it much easier to fight. Then they spread apart, continuing the battle as they worked together. Kira ended up working with Syd and Bailey while Kennedi found herself working with Ryder and Z. The guys were paired off by color, if possible.

The fight was definitely going to be one they wished they would remember.

As soon as the rangers finished their fight, Tommy had vanished, needing to take care of a few things regarding this battle. Gruumm had retreated back into the future, taking all of his minions and foot soldiers with him. The dino rangers, Hunter, and most of the SPD rangers were outside of the high school, standing near the vehicle the other rangers had appeared in. All of the rangers were no longer in morph, which allowed Kira to get a good look at her future daughter. Of course, it was easy to tell who her father was.

"Well guys," Jack spoke first. "It's time to say goodbye."

"So soon?" Conner frowned.

"Yeah, what's the rush?" Kira agreed. "You're time travelers, right?"

"Not exactly," Bailey shook her head. "The wormhole's closing. We need to go."

"I really wish I could stay," Bridge mumbled.

"We understand you guys gotta go," Trent cut him off, realizing the green ranger had a tendency to ramble on a lot. "Thanks guys. This has been something we'll always remember."

Sky sighed. "Unfortunately, we can't let you do that."

"Why not?" Conner wondered.

"Conner, once more, let me explain," Kennedi rolled her eyes. "Our memories go poof, we don't kill the timeline, and the future is unaffected." Conner shot her a glare as a couple snickers went through the group.

"She's right," Syd agreed. "Knowledge of the future would only change what's meant to be. For better or worse. It's gotta be like this."

Cruger stepped in front of his rangers and pointed a device at the dino rangers. "Say cheese." With a flash, all of them forgot what had happened. "School's over. Go home."

The dino rangers and Hunter made their way to leave, confused. "Did that dog just talk?" Kira looked to their red ranger.

"I think so," he agreed.

"I feel like I just had the weirdest dream," Kennedi remarked as they made their way to the parking lot. "And dad was in it."

"Don't you two have a date planned or something?" Ethan wondered, looking over at the couple.

"Not until later," Hunter shook his head.

"So, what do we do now?" Trent asked.

A/N: Here's the end of the team up. This chapter was shorter than I thought it would be, but hey, that's what happens. Anyway, what'll happen next time?
