Lets fast forward to the rest of the week. Things were getting a bit complicated in town. The girls are even more distance than they used to be. I have no idea what's going through their heads but they are always jumping when their phones ring. I find this to be weird, but no one seems to want to let me in. Hanna was now working off a debt at Sean's moms Dentist office. The night of the party she got upset or something and took Sean's car out for a spin. She wrecked it, so now she has to pay it off. Now on top of all that some Detective keeps coming around and questioning people about Alison. It's now considered a murder so they reopened the case. But it seems he's been asking the girls more than anyone in town.

"I'm trying to get all the facts." He said when I asked him what was the point in him constantly cornering them for answers. I had been walking out of The Grill one day and saw him coming out of his car. I was getting ticked off about him bothering them.

"Just because they were all having a sleepover the day she went missing doesn't mean they know what happened." I say in an attitude.

"Jessie."

"Don't talk to me like you know me Detective Wilden."

He smiles. I didn't like the way he was looking at me. It was a bit creepy. "Look." He says. "They were the last people to see her."

"So you think."

He gives me a suspicious look. "Is there something you know that we don't?"

"No." I raise an eyebrow. "Why are you turning this around on me."

"I'm just going by what you said."

"What I mean is, that you know of they were the last ones. Anything could have happened after they fell asleep."

He watches me for a minute. It was like he was trying to read my mind. Then he says. "The fact that they were twelve and thirteen year olds who fell asleep early during a sleepover is what makes me suspicious."

"That's the stupidest thing I've ever heard."

"Is it now." I nod. "Tell me Jessie. Have you ever fallen asleep before midnight during a sleepover?"

"Well no but..."

"Then you'll see why I'm wondering why early teens did."

I give him a look and he just watches with a smile. "You're trying anything to blame them for this. It could have been anyone and you're after them just because they were her closest friends?"

"As I said..."

"It's because they were the last to see her. Yea I know. But they already told you what happened. So leave them alone." I turn on my heel and walk away.

Did that stop him? Of course not, he's a cop. They do whatever the hell they like. I know this because that weekend I had taken a walk around town and saw the girls.

"Hey Jessie!"

I turn to the sound of the voice and smile as I see the girls walking towards me. "Hey." I head over to them. "What's going on?"

They shrug. "Wilden called us in again." Emily says.

I roll my eyes. "Are you kidding me?" They shake their heads. "Can't he give it a break."

"Apparently not." Hanna says.

"Not even when you warned him." Spencer said. Her eyes narrowed in on me.

My heart skipped a beat. "I..."

"You shouldn't be talking to him. You know that right?" Her lawyer roots were kicking in now.

"But..."

"He thinks you're hiding something."

"Hiding..."

"That has to do with you covering for us."

"But I..."

"Or hiding something that you did to Ali."

"But I wasn't even..." She goes to say something and now my temper was rising. If she interrupts me again I was going to flip out.

"Spencer stop it." We all look at Aria.

"Stop what?" She says.

"Every time she tries to answer you cut her off." She looks at me. I probably look like I was getting pissed. "Plus there's no point in bringing that up. We already cleared up that she wasn't living in the state by then."

"You..." I look at Spencer to see if she was going to say something. She shifts her eyes away from me and I see the other girls try to hide a laugh. "You did?" I turn back to Aria.

She nods. "We did. Why were we going to have him blame it on you when you were no where near here?"

"But it's okay for him to harass you guys just because you were with her at the time?" They all watch me. "You fell asleep. From that point to when you woke up is when she went missing. You're not going to know what happened." This seemed to make them feel better as we head off home.
