Oh...so I noticed that I flipped a few things around in this chapter and another chapter based off this specific episode of the show. I wrote them before I rewatched it and saw that I messed up a bit when it comes to things based off the girls. So if anyone notices these mistakes then I apoligize.

Finally my cast was coming off. It feels like a lifetime since I was able to do anything with this hand without it hurting my wrist. In the matter of hours I'll be able to pick up a basketball again. In the matter of weeks I'd be going to tryouts. In no time I'm going to be able to do things as simple as snapping my finger. Or even pointing to the other side of the street without straining. I know it sounds ridiculous but it's going to be amazing. I just need to get through the rest of today and I'll be off to the Hospital to get it off.

Today happens to be Homecoming. For those of you into the whole going to dances thing you may be saying I'm lucky I'm getting my cast off when I am. But for me, who isn't all that into it, it just feels like any other normal day. Except for the fact that my best friend has been going through an extremely rough time.

About a week or so ago Aunt Ella and Uncle Byron started getting down each other's throats. Some anonymous person thought it would be funny to ruin their lives by playing a sick joke. Or so I thought that's what it was. Happens to be that the person who sent this note to Aunt Ella was telling the truth. Uncle Byron had cheated on her around three years ago with one of his college students. Did this shock me? Oh yea. I never thought Uncle Byron would do something like that. I guess you never really know someone till they lie to you. Now they aren't really on the same path and its a possibility that someone is going to move out.

I've been there for Aria the whole time but for the past few days she hasn't been coming to school. I wanted to skip school so I could go hang out with her but she wouldn't let me. I mean what was the point on going when she was home upset on one of the days she had been looking forward to since school started? Now she doesn't even want to go to the dance. I felt for her so much, it was probably a nightmare for her. On top of finding out about Alison, this happens. Can't she get a break? Are the odds really not in her favor?...Oh man, did I just make a Hunger Games reference? God this is not the time or place for that. Focus Jessie!

Anywhoooo. I for one am going to see her after the Hospital. She needs to get out of the house. Why dwell on something you can't control? Yes I know, I should be taking my own advice but now is not the time to lecture me about it. My point is, this is my best friend. I will not let her be so upset that she can't have a life. She has to get out of this mood. She's too fun and cheery for that to be part of her personality.

Now you'd think that school woulda been a mellow day since it's Homecoming. Well no. Things are hectic and crazier because of Homecoming. While waiting for first period to start today Hanna and Mona walk in and once again decide to shove down everyone's throat to vote for Hanna for Homecoming Queen. I guess I get it in a way. Hanna being at the bottom at one point of her life is trying to keep herself as much on top as high school can get her.

"You're voting for Hanna right Jessie!" Mona's sing song voice pierces my ears as she ambushed me at my desk. Her chipper attitude irritating me while in the middle of trying to finish my Math homework.

I slowly take a deep breath to compose myself, but I don't look up right away. "Morning Jessie, how are you today?...Oh I'm just trying to get this homework done, but thanks for asking." I mock up a convo that would have been better to have than this. Then I look up to see Hanna come into view with a smile. She seemed to get my sarcastic weirdo reaction.

Mona on the other hand was lost. "Is there a reason you're talking to yourself?"

I rest my head on my fist and smile from amusement. "No Mona." I say as politely as I can, then take a quick glance at Hanna who was hiding a laugh. "How are you?"

She seems to get all perky. "I'm fine thank you. Yourself."

"I'm wonderful." I say sarcastically. But she didn't seem to notice that.

She smiles and nods. "So Homecoming." She starts.

"Yes. I'm voting for Hanna."

"Great!" She hands me a button with Hanna's face on it then takes off.

I look at it, trying my best not to laugh. The fact that popular people do so much to get noticed when everyone already knows who they are is a bit ridiculous. I don't do that. I feel that it gets to your head and just makes you seem more pigheaded because you want attention. Don't get me wrong, Hanna is a great person. I just wish she didn't try so hard. She's an awesome person to be around once you get to know the real her. Not this peppy school girl that people want to strangle when she wants to remind you that she's on top and you're not.

"Didn't finish your homework?" I look up to see Hanna was still standing by my desk.

I shake my head. "I was having a hard time figuring it out."

"Spence couldn't help?"

"She was busy. But it's fine. I usually bullshit it anyway."

She laughs. "Always your specialty." She hesitates for a second. "How's Aria?"

I shrug. "Fine I guess. She doesn't really talk much about it."

"We are going to get her to go to Homecoming."

I raise an eyebrow. "How?"

She smiles. "There are ways."

"Care to share?"

"Everyone take your seats." We hear Mr. Fitz when he walks into the room.

She smiles and winks. "You'll see." Then goes over to her desk.

Em gets to her seat. She looked a bit dazed. "You okay?" I whisper to her as Mr. Fitz starts to write on the board.

She just nods. Not looking at me but gets out. "Just tired."

"I feel ya."

She turns around "How's your ankle?"

I shrug. "Better I guess. I mean I can walk."

She nods. "Good to hear." She gets quiet for a second. "I see the black eye vanished."

"Yea. But the cut is now a scar. Need to thank Rachel for that one."

"Well at least your lip is better."

"Thankfully."

Mr. Fitz starts to call names and the convo dies out.

"Aria." He says. He doesn't usually look up from his book of names unless they don't answer. So when he didn't hear her say anything he did. His face got a little weird. Almost sad looking. "Does anyone know where Aria is?"

It's quiet for a minute, then I say. "She's sick."

He looks at me and his expression has surprised written all over it. It's the first time I've talked to him willingly since he told me that he saved me from the accident. Usually I try to avoid him if I could help it.

His eyes twinkle a bit as he watched me. Then he smiles a bit. "Thank you Jessie."

Em and Spence both turn to me and I could feel my face getting a little red. "Sure." I say in return. But when I said it my voice was a bit squeaky. I clear my throat out of embarrassment and turn my attention to looking out the window. The weather was decently warm today but very little sun shown through the clouds.

"So..." I faintly hear Mr. Fitz's voice. It was as if he floated away and I was out of his reach to have a convo with him. I slowly turn back and see him pacing the aisles. On the board the word Fantasy was written. "Can anyone tell me what fantasy means."

Spencer's hand shoots up. He smiles and points to her. "It's usually part of fictional stories. Made up things that would never be part of the real world for your entertainment."

He nods. "Can anyone give me an example?" He says. "What story have you read that involves fantasy? Then explain what or why it makes it part of that genre of books." Mona raises her hand. "Yes Mona."

"Percy Jackson." She says.

I smile a bit. I've read those. Never been into Greek Mythology but it is interesting how the author can suck you into it just by making up a world from the top of his head.

"And what makes it fantasy?"

"The magic involved." She says. "He is half human and half god. Being the son of a god allows him to control water just by thinking about it."

He smiles and nods. "Excellent." He walks down my aisle. "Anyone else?" He glances at me for a second but then turns and starts to walk away.

"Harry Potter." I say before I could stop myself.

He turns to me. As does a few others. For a second he says nothing. Then he nods. "Okay, and what's the fantasy."

"Magic." I say.

"Same concept as Percy Jackson?" He asks.

I start to shake my head then stop to think. "Well. I mean, magic is in both stories but it's used in different ways."

"How so?"

"Percy is a demigod. Harry is a wizard. Their magic wouldn't be the same type of magic." I think for a minute. "Percy gets his power from Poseidon, god of the sea. Right there you can tell a demigods magic is not going to be the same as a wizards. Percy only has the ability to control water because of his father. He channels his magic from his mind, which also allows him to maneuver it with his body." Everyone now has their eyes on me. My face was turning red again. "Harry...well, being a wizard he can channel magic from his emotions too. But mostly through a wand and there's more magic to be done with a wand rather than just being a kid from one specific magical being."

Everyone was staring at me and I was feeling really uncomfortable now. Why did I start talking? I should have just acted as if I wasn't here like I always do.

"I think demigods have more power than wizards do." We all turn to the voice and see that Riley was the one who answered.

She glares at me till Fitz says. "And why's that?"

She shifts her eyes away from me. "Because gods are immortal and are supposed to have greater powers than anyone else. They've been around longer. They can evolve and learn more. That would pass down to their kids."

"So can wizards." I say. She looks at me and I immediately regret saying anything.

"Go on." Fitz says.

I gulp a bit. This isn't what I had in mind for the morning. "Well..." I try to get out. "Wizards may be able to die but that doesn't mean they haven't evolved over the years. They just learn new things and pass it to the next generation. Plus just because the gods are immoral doesn't mean demigods are too. They don't get all the powers of a god unless they become one themselves. Not all their kids get noticeable powers. The most they get is being immune to dying to a certain extent. Unless they are the kid of the main gods they don't get much out of being a gods child."

"Who are the main gods?" Fitz asks.

"Poseidon, god of the sea. Zeus, god of the sky. And Hades, lord of the Underworld."

Fitz puts on a smile. "Great Jessie." My face starts turning red. "This is a very interesting topic." He then turns and walks back up to the front of the room.

I feel the weight lift off my shoulders as he walked away. But Riley's eyes were still on me. Em turns to me and smiles a bit. "What has gotten into you today?"

I raise an eyebrow. "What do you mean?"

"You haven't been able to even make eye contact with Fitz since the first day of school. Let alone answering his questions."

I shrug. "I don't know. I guess this subject sparked something."

"Okay." Mr. Fitz says. Em turns away from me and we both look up. On the board he writes Harry Potter and Percy Jackson, then draws lines from them to the word Fantasy to connect them. "We are going to go a bit further with this." He says as he turns back to us and looks around the room. "I want you guys to give me more detail on the two stories. More on what it's about and more or less what's the same and what's different between these two fantasy worlds." Everyone frowns. "Yes. That means you have to read the books."

"But they are series of books!" Someone yells from across the room.

He laughs. "Just read the first one of each. You'll be able to figure it out." Some people start to object. "Before you all start a riot. It won't be due till the week after we come back from Christmas vacation. This will give whoever hasn't read the books plenty of time to do so." As he finished that sentence it seemed like everyone took a relieved breath.

I was liking this assignment already. I've read the books so I don't have to worry about that. I could either write up the essay as it gets closer to the date or start early and call it a day. Either way my grade is going to be awesome.
