Chapter 32: Thunder Storm

Part II

A/N: Last time, the rangers fought against evil ninja rangers. Only Tori, Shane, and Dustin turned evil, and Kennedi prevented herself from following suit by not using the morpher Sensei gave her. Blake was in Reefside for a race, and invited Kira and Kennedi as well as the boys to watch him compete. Four of the rangers did so, and Kennedi had to leave not long afterward because she got the call about Lothor returning. Blake joined the good ninjas later on and witnessed the fight between their friends and the dino rangers. What'll happen now?

After the rangers had all vanished from the alleyway, the four ninjas who weren't brainwashed streaked down to it. Kennedi began using her powers to wipe out the flames that littered the area. Thankfully, no civilian was injured in the crossfire and no one was around to see them use their powers. As they walked, Cam explained an idea he had to the other three. Or rather, he explained it to the boys, knowing full well that Kennedi would want to join in.

"Are you nuts?" Blake demanded once the green ranger finished.

"I take back everything I ever said about you being smart," Hunter agreed. They paused in their steps.

"Have a look at what they've done," Cam motioned around them. "We have to get to the Abyss. It's our only chance."

"You were there, right?" Hunter questioned. "You know what's inside that thing."

"Yeah, our powers," the computer geek reminded them. "And we have to get them back if we're going to have any chance of helping the dino rangers deal with Tori, Shane, and Dustin." Hunter slowly nodded.

"No way!" Blake denied.

Kennedi rolled her eyes. "Blake, if you want your girlfriend back to normal, you'll do this. If I can go in there to help out my sister, you can certainly go in there to help out everyone."

"You're not going in there," the three boys cut her off, knowing that they agreed on that point.

"If any of you say it's because I'm a girl, I will kick your asses," Kennedi narrowed her eyes at them.

"Ken, you're what, ten weeks pregnant?" Cam explained. "We're not letting you go in there and risking it. There's no telling how the Abyss could affect you."

"Then I'm going to infiltrate Mesogog's lair and see if they've teamed up yet," Kennedi declared, which earned even more protests.

"And let the possibility of that happen again?" Hunter raised an eyebrow. "No way. Not a chance."

Kennedi was not happy with them. "He was destroyed last week! And wouldn't you rather have confirmation that they're teamed up than just speculation?"

"What does Kira have to say about all this?" Blake wondered.

Kennedi took out her cell phone and smirked.

The teens were in the dino lab, still discussing possibilities of what could happen and what they could do to stop it. So far, nothing they came up with was pleasant. They were all still wondering where Kennedi was, realizing the girl had yet to contact them about any of this. Then again, they figured she was probably helping out the other ninjas who weren't evil, given the fact she was a ninja herself. Just as they started discussing the possibility of Mesogog and Lothor teaming up, Kira's cell phone rang.

"Ken, are you okay?" she answered it, recognizing the number.

"Perfectly fine," Kennedi replied. The others listened in, hoping she could help them. "Listen, we got a plan to help out, but the boys are refusing to let me help."

"What, exactly, does this plan include?" Kira frowned, not liking where this was going.

"Well," Kennedi bit her lip. "Cam suggested we go into the Abyss and get our powers, but they denied me assisting them."

"I agree with them," Kira cut her off, her face paling. "Are you insane? Do you know how that could affect you?"

"So then I suggested I infiltrate Mesogog's lab to find confirmation that he and Lothor teamed up," Kennedi finished, ignoring the interruption.

Kira's eyes widened. "That's even worse! I'm glad they're not letting you do either of those things! They're stupid and there are so many things that could go wrong!"

"So which one would you rather I do?" Kennedi interrupted, not wanting to hear her sister rant.

"For some reason I feel as though the Abyss would be the safe choice, but…" she never got to finish her sentence as the line went dead.

The boys simply stared at her, waiting for answers.

While the boys didn't believe her, they couldn't stop Kennedi from tagging along with them to the Abyss. The whole way there, they protested her participation, none of them wanting anything to happen to her or her unborn child. However, they all agreed that it was probably the safer choice than having her infiltrate Mesogog's lair. Upon arrival at the Abyss, the ninjas set up their climbing gear and began the descent, landing on a ledge inside.

"Man, it stinks down here," Blake commented.

"There's our powers," Kennedi pointed to where the Samurai Amulet was floating above a smaller ledge.

"I can't believe there's no one guarding it," Hunter piped up. Naturally, Zurgane appeared with a group of Kelzaks, ready to fight. All four ninjas fell defensive as Blake glared at his fellow thunder ninja.

"You had to say it, didn't you?" he growled.

Zurgane smirked. "Welcome to my home, power rangers! Attack!"

Kelzaks charged, and Zurgane immediately singled out Kennedi, ready to fight her. The ninjas took different ledges, giving them more room to fight off the enemy. Cam stayed on one near the amulet, hoping to get a chance to grab it. Zurgane and Kennedi went head to head as the others took care of Kelzaks.

As everyone else was off doing their own thing, Conner, Kira, and Ethan found themselves sitting at a high top table, discussing a few things about the ninjas. Kira was fuming over what her sister told her in the phone call, something she told her own teammates. Trent was at the dino lab, helping Tommy and Hayley. Ethan was looking up the ninja rangers on his laptop.

"It says here the Ninja Rangers defeated like a hundred space mutants at one time," he read.

"After fighting them," Kira commented. "I believe it."

"Oh come on," Conner rolled his eyes. "They weren't that tough. I'd fight 'em right here, right now." Suddenly, Conner found himself regretting his words as Tori, Shane, and Dustin entered, all looking ready for a fight. The three stood in front of the rangers' table. Then, Shane brought up his hands and performed a ninja move, using his power of air to blow the tables and people toward the back of the room.

All patrons but the three rangers screamed and ran out the back, hoping to get away from what was about to ensue. "Can I get you anything?" Conner breathed. "A donut maybe or a muffin?"

"I try to stay away from sugar," Shane spat. "It makes me hyper."

"Ooh I'd hate to see him when he gets hyper," Ethan rolled his eyes.

"Get up," Tori snapped. "We have some unfinished business to attend to." The three dino rangers scrambled to their feet, each falling in line across from their color counterpart. Both teams began walking toward each other until they met in the middle.

Conner smiled at Tori. "Dude, she's kinda cute, don't ya think?"

"Yeah, in a crazed ninja terminator sort of way," Ethan agreed.

"Would you two focus here?" Kira smacked Conner on the arm, since he was closer.

"Right," he snapped back to reality.

"Can we get on with this?" Shane glared, the ninjas looking the dino rangers dead in the eye.

Conner started the banter. "We're not gonna fight you here."

"Well, then we're just going to have to destroy you," Shane continued, no tone evident in his voice.

"We'll meet wherever you want," Conner huffed. "But you come alone."

"Why should we agree to that?" Shane challenged.

This time, it was Kira who answered. "It's called honor. I thought you ninjas knew all about that." It was silent for a moment.

"Fine," Shane finally ground out. "Under the harbor bridge. In one hour. The six of us, no one else."

"Fine," Conner agreed. "We'll be there." With his assurance, the three ninjas streaked out in the blink of an eye, leaving the dino rangers alone.

"Ninja streak?" Ethan raised an amused eyebrow. "Oh, how cool is that?"

Conner and Kira looked at him.

In the abyss, the four ninjas were still fighting off Zurgane and his buddies and Kelzaks. All of them were managing to do well, considering they had to be careful not to fall off a ledge or else die. Cam, Blake, and Hunter were fighting off Kelzaks for the most part, leaving the orange ranger to deal with Zurgane. Cam hopped onto another ledge to try and reach the samurai amulet. Zurgane, upon noticing this, knocked Kennedi out of the way, causing her to stumble back, and the alien to send an earthquake rippling through the abyss.

Because she had lost her footing and the earthquake started up, Kennedi found herself screaming as she fell off the edge and began to fall into the abyss. Hunter noticed this and quickly jumped after her, snatching her hand in his and grabbing on to a ledge to keep them from falling. It didn't help that the ground was shaking, making it hard for the thunder ninja to pull up the lighter fire ninja. Cam and Blake ran over, grabbing Hunter's wrist with their hands to help keep him steady and pull them up without falling themselves.

"Hang on!" Cam called down.

"I'm trying!" Kennedi shouted up.

"I'm losing my grip!" Hunter realized, his grip slipping.

Zurgane caught their attention. "Now it's your turn to feel what it's like to live at the bottom of the abyss! Goodbye, Rangers!" He vanished along with the Kelzaks, leaving the ninjas all alone.

"Hurry up!" Kennedi called to them. "I think I'm gonna be sick!"

Out of nowhere, a third hand joined the others. Cam and Blake turned to find a familiar face smiling at them.

"So if they use special powers, we use special powers," Conner instructed. He, Kira, and Ethan were standing under the harbor bridge, getting ready to fight the three ninjas. The ninjas hadn't shown yet, but they knew they would. "If they morph, we morph. Sound good?" he looked to his two teammates. They hadn't heard from Kennedi, and they were getting a bit worried about where she could be.

"It does to me," Kira nodded. All three were blown back with a huge gust of wind as the three wind ninjas approached. "Do they have to keep doing that?" the singer groaned as they stood back up.

"Fools," Shane snarled. "You actually showed up." All six fell defensive before charging their opponent.

Conner and Shane faced off just as they did before. Punches and kicks were thrown and blows were landed, but neither red was gaining the upper hand. They were both dodging most of the things aimed for them, becoming frustrated. Conner got the idea to use his super speed to help him avoid attacks coming his way. Shane growled as he noticed this, and was kicked down from behind before he could do anything. However, he saw it coming and streaked up onto the catwalk above, creating an impossible jump for the soccer star.

Dustin and Ethan battled once more. Evenly matched, the two comic book geeks seemed to use the same moves against each other at the same time, getting them nowhere. Nothing was doing either boy any good, and they were frustrated things weren't working properly. Ethan brought out his dino gem power, using the armored skin to help himself defend blows. Dustin quickly realized what was happening, and for his counter attack, he dove into the dirt and disappearing, causing the blue dino ranger to frown. The former yellow popped up behind the boy, startling him, and fighting resumed.

Kira and Tori were going at it hard. Both girls were fierce as they fought, and smirking. Kira hoped her sister was okay, and Tori was not giving her time to get distracted. Deciding to collide powers, Tori sprayed water at Kira as the yellow unleashed her Ptera scream, the two attacks colliding in the center and shoving both girls back.

They all regrouped with their own side, Shane being first to speak. "Shall we?"

"No! Wait!" Cam yelled. Three ninjas appeared in sight just as the other three ninjas were getting ready to morph. Kennedi was nowhere in sight. The three ninjas went to stand with Tori, Shane, and Dustin as they grouped together.

"More rangers?" Conner frowned.

"Good 'cause we can use all the help we can get," Ethan breathed.

"We're not here to help you guys," Blake stated as the three newly appeared ninjas stood in front of the other three. "We stick with our own kind."

Hunter nodded. "Lothor's shown us the error or our ways." He sent a discreet look to Kira.

"Whoever doesn't follow us, we'll destroy," Cam agreed.

"They're faking," Kira muttered to the two boys beside her. They sent her a confused look.

"This is gonna be great," Dustin grinned, clapping his hands together.

"Wait," Cam held up his hand. The ninjas turned to the other three. "First, you have to take these." He opened his hand to reveal three power discs. "A little power boost direct from the Abyss of Evil."

Tori looked suspicious. "But we already have our powers."

"Not these ones," he assured.

"You better be right about this," Shane reached out and took his disc, Dustin and Tori copying his example.

"Believe me," Cam assured. "You won't be sorry." The three popped off their current discs and pushed a button to activate them. A rippling shock went through all three, the three falling over. Upon seeing it work, Kennedi made her appearance, running over to them. Hunter and Blake helped Tori, Shane, and Dustin get to their feet as they held their heads in pain.

"Oh dude what happened?" Dustin groaned. "My bell is seriously rung."

"How did we get here?" Shane looked around. "The last thing I remember…"

Kennedi cut him off. "Lothor…he's back."

"Yeah we know," the air ninja frowned. "Sensei told us."

"That wasn't Sensei," Hunter stated.

"No dude I know Sensei when I see him," Dustin shook his head.

"No, it's Lothor," Blake tried to get it through his head.

An idea struck the earth ninja. "Okay, unless it was Lothor dressed as Sensei!" The dino rangers joined them.

"Okay," Conner spoke, making them aware that the dino rangers were there next to them. "This is all highly amusing, but does someone want to tell me what's going on?"
