Chapter 33: Thunder Storm

Part III

A/N: So last time, the ninjas decided to take a trip into the Abyss to regain their powers. The boys were completely against Kennedi going into it, knowing Kira would kill them if they did. Kennedi went with them anyways as the three evil ninjas faced off the dino rangers. They were about to morph in their fight when Cam, Blake, and Hunter stopped them. Using a plan they had come up with, Kira realized they were faking and everyone is on the side of good now. What's gonna happen now?

"They were about to fall inside," Cam recounted their little trip into the Abyss. Everyone had ventured back to the dino lab after calming Kira down a bit. The yellow dino ranger had ended up chasing the thunder ninjas and Cam around for a bit, threating to kill them for allowing her sister to go into the Abyss with the state she's in. Conner and the other ninjas understood why, but Ethan was a bit confused. Now, they were all sitting around in the dino lab, the rangers on the steps as the three adults in the room stood or sat across from them. "But dad got there just in time."

"So we faked being on Lothor's side to get you to take the right discs," Hunter finished up. Kennedi was leaning against him as they sat near the top of the steps.

"It's a good thing you guys showed up when you did," Conner remarked once it was over.

"Good thing for you guys," Shane scoffed playfully.

"Whatever dude," Conner snorted.

Shane chuckled. "Nah I'm just playing man. You guys fight like rock stars."

"I, for one, will take that as a compliment," Kira grinned. The adults were smiling at the teens' behavior, glad to see they were all getting along.

"We're glad you're here," Tommy broke up the conversation. "But now it's time to get down to business."

"Tommy is right," Sensei stood. "We have a serious problem on our hands."

"And it's going to take all of us to defeat him," Tommy finished.

Since they had to wait for the fight to come to them, the rangers figured they'd wait around the dino lab and just hang out. Blake and Tori went off on their own, the two figuring they could use this time to catch up with each other. Conner and Dustin were discussing how they loved being outdoors and had sports they loved to be a part of. Ethan and Cam, as expected, were discussing computer related things. Shane and Trent were just have a random small talk session. That left Kira to corner her sister and Hunter, hoping to drag the full story out of them. The ninjas had purposely left out some details of their trip, something only Kira and the other ninjas picked up on.

"Are you insane?" Kira hissed at her sister. "Do you know what could've happened to you? What could still happen to you?"

"No, but when has that stopped me before?" Kennedi challenged. "You would've done the same thing if it meant you could help me out somehow."

"Yeah, but I wouldn't even consider it an option in the first place," Kira continued.

"If it helps, it was originally Cam's idea to go there," Kennedi pointed to the green ranger across the room. "And hey, all three of them were against it, even after you said I could go."

Kira glared at her twin. "I never told you that you could go into the Abyss. I said it would be the safer choice."

"Still probably was," Hunter agreed. "The only time we didn't protest was once we were in the Abyss. We knew that there was no turning back by that point."

"And yet you still almost died," Kira rolled her eyes.

"Then kill Zurgane," Kennedi offered. "He's the one who started the earthquakes and pushed me off the ledge."

"I don't think you're helping," Hunter whispered to her.

"And that's supposed to make me feel better?" the yellow ranger demanded.

Before she could get an answer, the alarms went off.

Putting their argument on hold for the moment, the rangers made their way to the large quarry, where a horde of their enemies were waiting. The only villains not there were the head honchos, as expected they wouldn't be. As the rangers arrived, they noticed the villains had a look of satisfaction on their faces, something that unsettled the group. All of the rangers were standing on the ledge above the quarry, looking down at their opponents. Before they left the dino lab, it was agreed by everyone that Kennedi would be able to choose which powers she wanted to use.

"Let's be careful," Tommy instructed. "But let's get it done!"

"Dino Thunder, Power Up!"

"White Ranger, Dino Power!"

"Ninja Storm, Ranger Form!"

"Ember Storm, Ranger Form!"

"Thunder Storm, Ranger Form!"

"Samurai Storm, Ranger Form!"

The morphing process was almost complete.

"Tyranno!"

"Tricera!"

"Ptera!"

"Brachio!"

"Drago!"

"Dino Thunder!"

"Power of air!"

"Power of water!"

"Power of earth!"

"Power of fire!"

"Crimson thunder!"

"Navy thunder!"

"Samurai power!"

"Ninja Storm!"

All of them stood in their poses before jumping off the cliff and landing in the quarry. As they stood ready to fight, the villains smirked. Before anything could happen, Kennedi noticed her ninja morpher was sparking wildly. She turned and frowned at it, as did the others who noticed it. Just as someone was about to speak, she went flying backward, hitting the cliff wall behind her. Naturally, this caused a scream to emit from her.

"What happened?" Kira demanded, rounding her glare on the ninjas.

"She took the same discs we did," Cam frowned. "Something must've tampered with it."

"It's what we like to call a backup plan," Elsa smirked, knowing full well what was happening. This caused the rangers to become suspicious, realizing that the villains must have done something to the orange ranger's morpher. However, they had time to do nothing as the woman drew her sword. "Attack!"

The fight was on. Most of the rangers charged forward, splitting up into pairs or groups to take down foot soldiers and generals. Hunter, however, went over to check on Kennedi, making sure she was all right before going to join the others. He reached her, glad no villains were coming toward them. Seeing she was starting to stand, he helped her up, supporting her. "Ken, are you okay?" he called out to her.

Instead of answering, she turned to him. Though he couldn't see it, there was a blank and cold stare directed toward him. Before he knew it, he was flying across the field, slamming into the cliff on the opposite side. This paused everything on the field and everyone turned to look toward the orange ranger, who simply stood still.

"Oh man, not again!" Ethan groaned, first to realize what must be happening.

"You've got to be kidding me!" Kira growled. She turned her sights to Elsa, noticing the woman smirking. "What the hell did you do?"

"Just a little insurance policy of Lothor's to make sure there was still one of you under evil's influence," the woman explained, never losing the smirk. Kira was about to charge, but Tori held her back for a moment, a silent agreement going through the girls. When they turned to look at the orange ranger again, they saw her doubled over in what looked to be pain.

Hayley, from where she was monitoring this in the labs, contacted Kira. "Kira, you need to get the right ninja disc for her. The stone is trying to fight against the evil one, but it can only do so much because of the connection to the dino gem."

"Stone?" Tori, who was the only one beside her by this point, frowned.

"Long story," Kira muttered. "I'll try."

"Good luck getting to it," Elsa snarled, overhearing the conversation.

The girls looked around the battlefield for a moment. Kennedi was being ignored as she struggled to stand, the rangers realizing that she wasn't going to attack them at the moment. Everyone was also on their bikes, having used them to their advantage. However, the groups quickly discarded the vehicles for the moment, realizing that they weren't going to help much.

Conner and Shane, as expected due to them being red rangers, teamed up to take down one of the random generals. Ethan and Dustin were paired because Tori and Kira joined forces, the two boys focusing on another random general. Hunter and Blake were working with Tommy to take down Zurgane, the two ninjas having a good vendetta against him. Cam and Trent were focused on taking down Zeltrax, who had joined the party.

This left the girls with taking on Elsa. Appearing to be on the same line of thinking, the two got ready to fight. Elsa charged at them, swinging. Naturally, the two girls remained in sync as they back-flipped out of the way. Elsa fired a blast at them, sending them flying. While she was in the air, Kira went into super dino mode and began flying. She jumped off the ground.

"Double team?" she looked to the blue ranger.

"You're on!" Tori agreed. She hooked herself onto Kira's legs as the girl flew past. Blasters drawn, the girls fired with everything they had, zooming past the villain. Because they were flying around, Tori had a good chance of snatching the small pouch that was on the woman's hip. Elsa didn't even notice it was gone until she stood back up. Tori and Kira landed on their feet far enough away from her.

"What'd you get?" Kira asked, noting the blue ranger was opening the pouch.

"Ken's disc," Tori smirked, the small object falling into her hand. She passed it to the yellow. "Get her back to us. I'll handle this one." Kira nodded and ran off as Elsa stood, facing Tori.

"You think you can take me down?" Elsa growled, not happy about the turn of events.

"Bring it on!"

Kira raced as fast as she could to where her sister was now on the ground. Thanks to Hayley's quick thinking and skills, the yellow ranger knew what was wrong with her sister. The disc on her ninja morpher was encoded with evil, and it was colliding with her dino gem and the stone's powers. By the time Kira reached her, Kennedi was on her hands and knees, trying to stand. Kira could see the suit sparking, almost as if she was trying to stay morphed.

"Come on, Ken," Kira grabbed her sister's arm. "Snap out of it!"

Kennedi said nothing but threw her sister off. This led Kira to believe that the evil part was controlling her mind, telling her what to do while the stone and gem resisted it. Kira stood and got an idea, one she would hate going through with. With a heavy sigh, she charged her sister. Kennedi looked up and saw it coming, but didn't bother moving out of the way. The part of her mind that wasn't yet clouded told her to let this happen. Kira got close enough to kick her sister back a bit, using just enough force to cause her to lose her morph. Thankfully, when Kennedi hit the ground, the coin on her morpher flew off. Kira took her blaster and destroyed it before running over to her sister.

"What happened?" Kennedi groaned, sitting up. She saw Kira standing above her, holding a hand out to help her up. "What's going on?"

"Long story short, you got a botched ninja disc," Kira answered, handing her the right one. "Here. Take this. It's the right one. But just to be safe, I'd use your dino powers for this fight." Kennedi nodded and took the disc, placing it in her morpher. She pushed the button to activate it. Just like the wind ninjas did, she felt a shock go through her and her mind becoming lighter. "Feel better?"

"Much," Kennedi nodded. "Let's take down these losers. Orange Ranger, Dino Power!"

All of the rangers were glad to see that Kennedi had joined the fight, giving them an even number of people to pair off with. Kira went back to help Tori with Elsa while Kennedi went to help her boyfriend, who was still helping his brother and Tommy. The red rangers called upon their battlizers, something which proved to be useful. One by one, each group took down whoever they were facing along with the foot soldiers surrounding them. With all the villains gone, either having been destroyed or forced to retreat, the rangers stood together. They all cheered as they stood together.

However, they stopped as soon as they saw an invisaportal. It spit out Marah and Kapri, who were holding a jar of something.

"Cousin!" they tried, heading right for Cam.

"What are you doing here?" Cam frowned, confused.

"Is that any way to greet family?" Kapri demanded.

"Yeah, especially since we brought you a present," Marah waved the jar around. She opened it, and the rangers watched as a red-purple cloud flew over them. It stopped behind them and turned into the ninja students that had been captured earlier. Seeing they were safe and sound, the two girls changed back into their ninja uniforms, showing that they weren't evil.

Cam remained with the two as the others ran to check on their students.
