When we got to the Montgomery house later that day I noticed Uncle Byron's car was in the driveway. I knew this was not going to be a great visit. I look at Aunt Ella and see the rage in her eyes. But she gets out of the car and starts walking towards the house. I follow her lead and wait patiently as she opens the door. As always the coconut scent fills my nose when we walk in.

"Do you want me to make you something?" Aunt Ella asks.

I look at her. "Um."

"You haven't eaten since lunch."

I slowly nod. "Well...okay."

She smiles but just as quickly it drops. She was looking over my head and I turn around to see Uncle Byron heading down the steps. This just got really awkward. I turn back to her and saw that she was now occupying herself with the sandwich she was making for me.

When I turn back to Uncle Byron he was walking towards me with a smile. "Hello Jessie." He hugs me when he gets to me. "Hows it feel to get your hand back."

I return the hug and laugh. "Feels great." I look up. "Fail anyone today Uncle Byron?"

I feel his body shake as he laughs, then pulls back. "Not today Jellybean."

My heat sank. I hadn't been called that in the longest time. Both dad and Uncle Byron called me that growing up. Hearing it again felt familiar but too much to handle at the same time.

He puts a hand on my shoulder. "You okay?"

"I..." I gulp and take a breath. "I'm too old to be called that Uncle Byron." In reality I could care less about being too old. I just hated the feeling I got hearing the name that dad made up for me when I was a baby.

The light in his eyes kind of fades. "Sorry. I forget how much you've grown."

I nod. "Tends to happen when you're not around for three years." His face drops. I wasn't sure why but I felt angry all of a sudden as I said it.

"Here Jessie." I turn to Aunt Ella. "You can go upstairs now. Try to get Aria to eat will you?" She says as she hands me a plate with two sandwiches, a ham sandwich for me and a jelly sandwich for Aria (she's a vegetarian). I nod and head to the stairs.

"The girls are upstairs by the way." Uncle Byron says. "Forgot to mention it."

I half smile. "Right."

"Jessie..." He says. "I'm sorry I wasn't there for you when your life changed."

I stop but I didn't bother looking at him. "It doesn't matter anymore." Then I run upstairs.

It's amazing how hearing one word changes your mood. I know he didn't mean to upset me. He probably didn't even think that calling me that meant anything. But then I think he noticed, because he apologized for not being around after the accident. Why would he say that unless he realized why the word really upset me.

I stopped halfway up the stairs because I heard Aunt Ella and Uncle Byron talking. "Wow Byron." Her tone was so mad that I barely recognized her voice.

"What?" He says.

"You know Jessie is sensitive to anything based off her family."

"I didn't think..."

"Exactly." She says. "Apparently that's a habit of yours."

"That's not fair Ella."

"Do you really want to talk about being fair?" This was my cue to leave. I knew what was coming and I didn't want to ease drop on this conversation.

Arias door was cracked open when I got to the top. But I could hear the girls talking. "This is getting out of control." I hear Spencer.

"Wha..." Emily starts to say but I interrupted their chat.

KNOCK! KNOCK! KNOCK!

"Aria?" I slowly peak my head through.

They were all sitting on furniture near her bed. Smiles spread across all of their faces when they saw me, even Aria. Which surprised me a bit because the last time I came to visit she had herself curled up in a ball under the covers with her earbuds in. She didn't want to talk at all.

What made me more happy though was that she actually got up and ran over to me. "Jessie!" She half yells and wraps her arms around my neck.

I smile and hug back. She's not much shorter than me but I'm still getting used to having to bend when I hug her. Then I hear her breathing a bit heavy.

"Hey." I whisper. "You okay?"

She was shaking now. "Just hold on a bit longer?" She says barley loud enough for me to hear. I could tell she was crying.

I look over at the others, who all had half smiles. They had that "Aww" type of look on their faces. Then they also had a sad look 'cause they could tell she was upset.

"Don't worry." I say and hug her tighter, resting my chin on her shoulder. "I got you kiddo."

It took a little while to calm her down. I think we had been standing in that exact spot for a few minutes before she let go. Then she pulls me over to her bed. Happens to be that the girls had brought her Chinese for comfort food. That was definitely sounding better than a sandwich.

"I'm sorry." Aria says out of no where.

I had a mouthful of ham so it took me a minute to answer. "For what?"

"Breaking down."

I shake my head. "Ria..." I stop 'cause I see her start to smile. "What?"

"You called me Ria."

"I did?" She smiles and nods. Lately I have been having dreams from back when I used to call her that. I guess it's so often that it's starting to stick in my brain. "My bad. I didn't even notice."

She laughs. "It's ok. I haven't heard that in awhile."

"A long while. I think the last time I called you that we were in like first grade."

She smiles. "I actually kind of miss it."

"What are you guys talking about?" Hanna asks before we could continue.

"Jessie used to call me Ria for short when we were kids. She didn't know how to say Aria."

"I kind of remember that." Spencer says. Considering we have been friends since school started it's not surprising she did.

I could feel my face burning up as they all looked at me with smiles. "That's adorable." Em says.

I take a bite out of my sandwich to keep my embarrassment to a minimum. Then I say. "Anyway. My point was that you're allowed to break down once in awhile. I've definitely had my fair share of break downs in the past year."

Spence nods. "I can vouch for that."

"Me too." Em says.

I look at them and they had cheesy smiles on. "Shut up." They laugh and I couldn't help but smile.

"She's not wrong though Aria." Hanna says. "It's not a crime to be upset."

She gets quiet. I could see she was trying to think of some way to change the subject. Which she did. "How's the hand?" She pokes the top of my hand with her finger.

I smile, flexing my fingers and spin my wrist in a circle. "I feel like I can Swish and Flick without a second thought."

Spencer and Aria crack up, which has me join in after. To the point where we were in tears. Emily and Hanna just looked at each other with the "What is going on?" look.

"Oh my God." Spencer wipes away the tears from her eyes. "That was too good Jessie."

Aria nods and takes a deep breath. "That totally took me off guard. You have the best one liners."

Hanna and Emily looked at each other then us. "I don't get it." Emily says.

"Me either." Hanna adds.

"Harry Potter?" We all say.

"The motions for Windgardium Leviosa?" I ask when I saw their blank expressions.

But they still looked stumped. "I'm getting you two to watch those movies."

"Or read the books. " Spencer says.

Hanna laughs. "Me read books?"

"She's right." Emily says.

"Movies it is." I say.

Everyone was in a good mood and I was glad because those four always have something going on that has them distracted. I mean you could tell that they had something sticking in the back of their minds but usually when that happens it's like they aren't even in the room with you. This time they all were interacting and that included Aria. With everything she's been going through I'm surprised she could keep her head on straight.

Somehow they got Aria to agree to go to Homecoming. It was sometime before I got here because it never happened in front of me. This got me really excited of course.

"I'm still your ride?" I ask her.

She smile and nods. "Yea. So that means you have to get your car."

"I have to get ready too. Which means your my ride back to your house." I say to Spencer.

"Sure. We might as well go now then."

We all get up and head downstairs. When we get to the bottom Uncle Byron and Aunt Ella were still arguing. But as soon as we walked past the Living Room they stopped.

"Bye Mr. and Mrs. Montgomery." The girls say.

"See you later Uncle Byron and Aunt Ella." I say.

They smile at us and we say goodbye to Aria. Then we all head over to Spencer's car and she drops everyone off. Let the stress of Homecoming begin!
