Chapter 38: Thunder Struck
Part II
A/N: Here's the final part! There's going to be an epilogue (prom and the thing Cassidy and Kira have been planning).Also, the result of Kennedi's pregnancy won't be revealed until the sequel, so stay tuned for that! Now that the rangers blew up Mesogog's lab and rescued Anton, what'll happen? After all, they still need to make it back to the lab and see the damage. So what'll happen now as the rangers attempt to take down Mesogog for good?
Again, I apologize for taking so long with updates, but I will do my best to update more often. School is becoming more intense as is work and finding internships, but I am still writing and I do plan on posting updates and new stories. Thank you for your patience.

Tommy, Conner, Kira, Ethan, Trent, Anton, and Hayley made their way back to the dino lab. Instead of using the cave entrance, they decided to go through the front door of Tommy's house and enter the lab from the trap door. Anton had talked to Tommy about a few things on the way back, mainly apologizing for what he had done. As they walked into the room, their mouths dropped open in shock at what they were seeing. Debris was everywhere, wires were sticking out of the electronic equipment, and the place looked like a tornado hit it.
"What happened?" Kira gasped, immediately becoming concerned about her sister and Elsa. Neither of the girls were visible.
"It's trashed," Ethan stated the obvious.
"Elsa," Tommy called. "Kennedi?"
They heard something moving in a corner. Tommy and the boys moved to check it out, knowing they could lift the debris easier. Kira was hoping it was her sister and that she wasn't too seriously injured. However, her hope turned to disappointment and fear as the guys pulled Elsa out of the wreckage. As the guys brought her over to a place to sit, Kira grabbed the first aid kit, which was still intact.
"What happened?" Kira asked her as they found a place for her to sit.
"Hey, what's this?" Conner grabbed a small box with a blinking red light on it, speaking before Elsa could answer.
"It's like a black box," Hayley explained, taking it and bringing one of the working computers over to the group as Lily returned. "I keep a security camera in it." She plugged it in and video feed began showing. There was no sound, but the rangers could tell what happened. Kira grew even more worried and Conner placed his arm around her again, hoping to comfort her. If the video feed was anything to go by, then they had an orange ranger to rescue.
"This is all my fault," Anton sighed. "I should've stopped him."
"Don't blame yourself for what you did when you were him," Trent pleaded.
"Trent is right, Anton," Tommy agreed, coming out of shock. He now had a bigger mission, and he intended to carry it out. "This is about me and Smitty. It had nothing to do with you."
"But if there were no Mesogog…"
Tommy interrupted the scientist. "We can't go back and change what's happened. Mesogog is gone. We should be thankful for that."
"So what now?" Conner questioned. "I guess we don't hang up our morphers just yet."
"No," Tommy answered.
Kira remained silent, still trying to take it all in.
"Kira, don't worry," Conner assured as the two walked around for a bit. Tommy had given them permission to go off and act normal. He said he and Hayley and Anton were going to try and piece enough things together to get a tracking system working. They promised to contact the younger rangers once they heard something. "Ken will be fine. You know she will." At the moment, Conner was doing his best to comfort his girlfriend.
"No, I don't," Kira argued. "I know she's more than capable of taking care of herself, but there's more at stake and you know it."
"I also know that she's going to try and break free herself," Conner added. "And the first person she'll come looking for is you. I'm surprised you don't already have a plan in mind to save her."
"Oh I do," Kira vowed, her voice turning dark. "Find Zeltrax, save Ken, kill Zeltrax."
"Okay, you're becoming violent," Conner noted. "But we will get her back, I promise."
Kira could only hope he was telling the truth.
Kennedi was no longer in a good mood. Her day had started out well enough, but naturally, something had to ruin it. That something happened to be Zeltrax, who had destroyed the dino lab and somehow managed to take her hostage. Now she found herself in his giant Zelzord, tied to a pillar of sorts and struggling to break free. While she knew the others would be searching for her and trying to figure out what happened, she wanted to get out of there as soon as possible.
"Come and face me, power rangers!" Zeltrax cackled as he stormed through the city. Kennedi glared at him from her spot behind him, thinking of ways she could possibly trick him. She could see everything the cyborg saw, so she noticed when he turned to face the other rangers. "Power rangers, surrender…or my most precious cargo will be destroyed."
"Perverted much?" Kennedi scoffed.
"I bet he's got Ken in there," Conner shouted. Like Zeltrax, she could also hear what the others were saying. The only problem was that she had no way of communicating with them.
"Correct," Zeltrax confirmed. "I wanted her to see your demise! Triptoids!" The rangers began fighting off the odd creatures.
"You are seriously delusional if you think you're going to win," Kennedi shook her head. Zeltrax seemed to ignore her as he continued firing through the city. She watched her teammates get shot down.
"This has gone far enough!" Tommy huffed. "Trent, can you handle the Triptoids?"
"Not a problem," the white ranger assured.
"You guys call the zords," Tommy instructed the others. Kennedi knew her sister would protest, but also know that it was for the best at the moment. "I'm gonna get Kennedi."
Kennedi watched as the others brought in the zords and Trent took on the Triptoids. Tommy had vanished from sight by this point and the orange ranger probably realized he was trekking through the Zelzord. The primary colored dino rangers formed their megazord and began fighting off Zeltrax, trying to be careful so they didn't injure their teammates. She heard Tommy calling for her and she called back.
Getting an idea, Kennedi shut her eyes and concentrated. It worked last time she was held hostage by the villain during the final battle, so why wouldn't it work now? Concentrating, she found herself entering her sister's mind and speaking. She realized Kira was startled for a minute before realizing what was going on.
Kira, leave the boys to their own devices and come get me out of here!
"I'm gonna go help Dr. O," Kira told the two boys. Kennedi smirked to herself, realizing it must've worked. Conner attempted to protest, but the yellow ranger was much quicker. The Zelzord lurched again as it continued the attack.
I'm in, Kira's response reached her mind.
Hurry. Dr. O's fighting off some Triptoids near where you are.
How can you tell where I am?
I can see the map of the system. Zeltrax knows you two are in here, but I think he's more focused on the boys right now.
Remind me to kill him later.
Kennedi grinned as she realized her rescue team was quickly making their way toward her. Zeltrax seemed oblivious to the fact that there were two more rangers on board. He seemed to be focused on destroying Conner and Ethan. The orange ranger watched as Ethan took control of the Mesodon Rover, leaving Conner in charge of the Megazord. It wasn't until Tommy rolled into the room that Zeltrax realized the zord had been infiltrated.
He finished off the last of the Triptoids and went to break Kennedi free, but Zeltrax stepped in the way. Kira jumped in and deflected the blast with her sword. Even with Zeltrax fighting the two rangers, the zord still attacked the boys. Kira managed to distract Zeltrax to allow Tommy to strike him. With the cyborg now focused on fighting the black ranger, Kira made her way over to her sister. Kira took her blaster and shot at the wines holding her sister.
"Thanks," Kennedi grinned, rubbing her wrist. As she stood straight, she began to topple over. Kira caught her before she could fall.
"Are you okay?" Kira asked, concerned.
"Yeah I'm…ow!" Kennedi yelped as Kira tried to set her upright, only for Kennedi to fall right back onto her. "I think I killed my ankle in the lab wreckage."
"Come on," Kira urged. "Lean on me and we'll get out of here. Will morphing or ninja streaking help?"
Tommy knocked Zeltrax back and stood with them. "Let's go!"
"You're not going anywhere," Zeltrax cut them off. He did something that caused the sky to darken and trap the three rangers inside his zord. Just as Zeltrax began to charge them, the tyranno drill of the megazord punctured the Zelzord, knocking the cyborg down.
"Come on!" Kennedi took her sister's arm and ninja streaked them out of there, despite her bad ankle. They landed on the ground near Trent, who had just finished off the Triptoids. Kira handed the girl her dino gem as Kennedi managed to stand upright long enough so she could morph. "Orange Ranger, Dino Power!"
"Good to see you're okay," Trent remarked. Thanks to the powers of the suit, Kennedi had no issues with her ankle at the moment. Shortly after, Tommy joined them on the ground, followed closely by Zeltrax.
"You didn't think I'd let you go that easy, did you?" he stalked toward them. "You're going down, Tommy!"
Kennedi smirked. "You're one face I'm glad I'll never see again."
With that, three of the rangers charged Zeltrax. Kira hopped back into the zords to help the boys out as their fight was still going on. Kennedi, Trent, and Tommy took on Zeltrax, a few quick and powerful blows ending him for good. As soon as that was taken care of, they turned their attention to the zord battle. It was still going strong and a clear winner seemed to be undefined.
"Conner," Tommy called. "You're going to need all the zords!" All the zords came marching in. Using them all at full power proved to be effective enough to start the process of taking down the Zelzord. Unfortunately, it wasn't enough, and strong winds began to blow.
"You gotta sacrifice the zords!" Kennedi realized as the three on the ground struggled to maintain their balance.
Reluctantly, the boys and Kira did so.
This resulted in a big explosion.
The sky cleared up and the zords, all of them, were completely gone. As soon as they saw the zords go down followed by the explosion, Kennedi immediately went to try and find her sister. She began fearing the worst as Tommy and Trent ran to catch up to her, trying to prevent her from getting even more injured. Of course, she made the move to drop her morph, which the boys copied. Trent was quick to support her, having seen she was having issues standing. The three made their way into a very open steel structure near a couple of buildings.
"Where are they?" Kennedi demanded. Then, a few blurry figures began emerging from the smoke. "Ethan? Conner! Kira!" Not caring that she had a bad ankle, the girl ran over to the others and crashed into her sister.
"The zords…" Ethan breathed. "They're destroyed."
"It was the only way," Tommy stated. "You guys did what you had to do."
"It's true," Trent agreed. "Nothing else would've stopped him.
"So that's it then?" Conner questioned. "It can't just be over."
Kennedi suddenly grew tense. Still leaning on her sister, she spun around so she was facing a new direction. "It's not."
They all turned and found none other than Mesogog standing there.
"Why do they always come back for more?" Tommy groaned.
"You destroyed my plans," Mesogog hissed. "Of creating a perfect world! However, I was able to absorb enough dino gem energy to complete my transfiguration. Witness the face of your final battle!"
Before their eyes, Mesogog began to transform. They all watched as his outfit disappeared and a more dinosaur like creature was left standing in front of them. One thing they definitely agreed on was that this version of Mesogog was far uglier than the original form. This one also didn't seem to be capable of speaking.
Tommy turned to the others. "You guys ready for one more battle?"
"Dino Thunder, Power Up!"
"White Ranger, Dino Power!"
"Orange Ranger, Dino Power!"
Now morphed for the final time, the rangers charged Mesogog. All of them were in super dino mode, figuring it would help them out the best. Weapons had also been drawn, the rangers deciding not to waste anything. Mesogog was firing blasts at them, but the rangers managed to avoid it. Conner, Ethan, and Kira struck first, tag teaming the beast. When Ethan was knocked back, Trent and Tommy took over, both landing a good kick. Kennedi jumped in to help them, but it wasn't long before the three were knocked back.
Conner jumped on Mesogog's back, distracting him. When he jumped off, the monster faced him, allowing the others to attack from behind. Each of the rangers moved in to attack at once, not giving Mesogog a chance to focus on just one of them. It proved to be a rather useful method as they didn't get thrown back as often. If they did get tossed aside, they got back up and dove right in. The six all took turns double-teaming the monster as well. Conner brought out his Triassic mode with the Battlizer and managed to do a good number on Mesogog. Ethan brought in the Hovercraft cycle and did the same. With Mesogog keeled over in a pile of rubble, the rangers regrouped. However, they didn't drop their morph just yet.
Mesogog stood back up, and to their surprise, made three copies of himself.
"One was bad enough," Ethan complained. "How do we fight them all?"
"We have to use all of our powers," Kennedi spoke, already charging hers up.
Standing in formation, they all combined their powers, led by Conner. "Power Rangers, I summon the power of the gem!"
Balls of energy rested in their hands, a circle in front of them. As they pooled their powers together, golden glows surrounded them. They raised their hands high, uniting the gems and creating a powerful T-rex with the energy. They sent it toward Mesogog, watching as it chomped down on the four monsters on the ground. When the mess was cleared and Mesogog was clearly no more, the rangers regrouped a bit of ways away and dropped their morph.
"Everyone okay?" Tommy asked, noting that Kennedi was leaning on her sister.
"I feel…different," Conner frowned.
"Yeah," Trent agreed. "Like normal again."
"It's gone," Ethan realized. "Our powers are gone."
"It took everything the gems had to destroy Mesogog," Tommy explained. Once more, he was feeling the loss of the power. "The only thing we have left of them is the abilities they gave us. Otherwise, these are just ancient artifacts that would look good in a museum."
Kennedi heard footsteps approach and turned her head toward the sound. Stepping into view, with a smile, was Cassidy and Devin. "Hello, rangers," the blonde spoke, getting their attention.
"So, you know then," Conner sighed.
"Well, I kind of already knew," Devin smirked. "But I had to show Cassidy in person."
"This is like, the greatest thing ever!" Cassidy continued. "And we've got it all on tape. You know, a reporter could make a whole career out of this."
"Cassidy," Tommy began. "Do you realize what our lives will be like if that tape gets out?"
"Yeah, I do," Cassidy nodding. Then she held out her hand, tape inside. Tommy took it. "That's why I'm giving this to you."
"Wait," Kennedi frowned. "Cassidy passing up a scoop of a lifetime? Why?"
"Because you're my friends," Cassidy answered. "It wouldn't be right to ruin your lives just to make mine better. Not after everything you've done for us."
Ethan gave her a smile. "I always knew there was a heart deep down in there somewhere."
"Yeah," the blonde agreed. "I just needed someone to help me find it. Now, if you'll excuse us…"
"Yeah," Devin smirked, taking her hand. "We're off to the Prom." The two turned around and walked away.
Kennedi waited until they were out of earshot to speak. "Finally! I thought those two were never going to get together!"
"And just like that," Conner sighed. "Life goes back to normal."
"Our life may be normal," Tommy looked at all of them. "But trust me, it will never be the same."
