Sorry for the long wait between chapters. I have been extremely busy so I can not promise another fast update for this story or any other but I will get to them all as soon as I can! I don't think this chapter was all that great but hope you enjoy none the less.

"Miss Brant."

I turn around, the Vice Principal was walking over. "Oh. Hi Mr. Tamborelli." I side look at Aria as she gives me a keep calm look and walks into the locker room without me.

"I was told you weren't in school this morning. But now you are."

I nod. "Uh. Yea. I had something I had to do."

"There is no excuse for skipping class without some kind of note."

"But..."

"Detention."

"Mr. Tamborelli. This is the first time I've skipped."

"And it will be the last."

"That's not fair. I'm supposed to have more than one chance before getting detention."

"Life's not fair. Get used to it." He starts to walk away and I watch him walk down the hall.

My anger starts to creep up. "Pendejo." I whisper a Spanish curse word under my breath and start to walk away. Could this day get any worse?

"By the way." He yells to me. I turn back. "It's in Mr. Fitz's class. I will be making sure you're there."

It just got worse. Of course, it's my life and it seems to revolve around bad luck.

After school I went to my locker, having to explain to people why I couldn't stick around and then headed to detention. I sat there awkwardly in a classroom full of trouble makers and watched Fitz for an hour do his best not to come up to me and pressure me into a conversation. Then I pick Aria and Spencer up at The Brew and head to Arias.

"I can't believe he gave you detention." Aria says. "It was your first time."

"Yea. Well life isn't fair, get used to it." They give me a look. "His words. Not mine."

"He's an ass." Spencer says.

We both look at her. "Whoa, Spence. Language." Aria says.

She half smiles.

"I think he's just mad 'cause I've been a handful lately and haven't gotten punished because your parents keep getting me out of it."

Spencer has a look like she didn't know how to answer that.

We pull up to the house and they help me grab my stuff from the trunk. Uncle Byron and Mike weren't home but that was okay, I'd see them later anyways.

So we climbed up to her room and I'm shocked to see how much they switched things around. I look around and see that across from Arias bed next to the door where her desk used to be was now replaced with a roll bed they put for me. Over by her closet where her dresser used to be was now where the desk is, while her dresser got moved over next to the desk closer to the wall closest to her door. I mean her room wasn't as big as Spencer's but the fact they managed to rearrange everything and still could fit an extra bed in the room amazed me. Which I think made Spence feel a bit embarrassed because her face started to turn red. She was probably wondering why they didn't just do that with her room.

"Damn." Is all I'm really able to get out.

Aria smiles. "Took some time but we figured it out."

I nod. "How long have you had it this way?"

"A few days. Thought to get it done sooner rather than wait till you were ready. Made it easier."

"I thought you were just going to make enough space to put an inflatable mattress?"

She shrugs. "Dad insisted."

"Of course he did." I walk over to the extra bed and dump my stuff on it. Spencer and Aria follow my lead with whatever they had.

She half laughs. "He has always had a soft spot for you. You know that."

I nod. "I do. Which is why I used to always ask him for favors when I was younger. He could never tell me no."

She nods and laughs as she heads to her bed. "I'm sure if you asked him for favors now he'd still do it. Mom has always tried to change his attitude with that." She drifts away a bit.

I sit with her on her bed. "Don't think so much. The last time I came over while they were both here they didn't even argue." As much as I wanted to be hopeful, they were making it harder to have it since they agreed to separate.

"That's a good sign." Spencer says from the other bed. She had a smile, which you could tell was forced but you had to appreciate that she was trying to make her feel better.

"Yea." I nod in agreement to help her efforts. "It is. That means they are communicating with each other."

"Jessie. They only don't argue because they want you to think everything is okay."

I nod. "Okay. I agree. They're just trying to hide it when I'm around...or when anyone is around for that matter. But for me it's very obvious, I grew up with them. I can tell just as much as you and Mike can that something isn't right. Doesn't matter if they hide it or not, but if they were that much against each other they would argue no matter what." She watches me. "It's going to be..."

"Stop treating me like a kid!" We hear from outside her open window, then the front door slams open and stomping feet follow. "If you guys thought that this arrangement was going to go well with me or Aria then you were wrong." We hear as Mike raced up the steps and slams his door.

Then "I told you this was a bad idea." Uncle Byron says.

"Don't you dare turn this around on me, Byron! Whose fault is it that this is happening? Oh yea...yours! Why? Because you decided it was easier to keep your unfaithfulness to yourself and have my daughter keep it from me for three years rather than talk to me about it yourself!"

Aria turns to me, tears forming in her eyes. "You were saying?"

I could feel the heat filling up my face, it even went to my ears. Trying to make her see the light at the end of what she thought was going to be a nonstop tunnel completely backfired. I hate hearing people fight just as much as anyone but this is not how I imagined their arguments. They always seemed like the type of people who could calmly talk about their problems. I thought at least they would be calm for Aria and Mike.

"I'm sorry." Is all I could think of.

She shakes her head and wipes away the tears. "They'll eventually knock it off. But not until they screamed their lungs out."

Footsteps started to come up the stairs. "Oh of course! Run away when things are bad. Like always!" Uncle Byron yells from downstairs.

Aunt Ella then comes into view at the top of the stairs and she sees me and Aria. "Oh no..." She was speechless for a second. Then she walks into the room and jumps a bit as she notices Spencer. "Girls...I didn't. I had no idea anyone was home."

We watch her. I don't know about anyone else but I sure as hell felt awkward. I was completely lost for words

"No need to stop your fight because of us." Aria says a bit too calmly and stands up. "We'll be going." Then she storms down the steps and we hear the door slamming downstairs.

I looked at Spencer, who had the same look as me. Neither of us had any idea how to react.

"Maybe you should go for a walk or something when you catch up to her." Aunt Ella breaks the silence. "And go to the Grille for Dinner." She takes out some money from the wallet she had in her hand. "Here." She stretches out her arm to give it to me.

I shake my head. "Aunt Ella..."

"Jessie." She sounded on the verge of tears. "Take it. Please." She wouldn't lower her arm. Not even when it started to shake.

Finally I get up and grab it. "Thanks."

She watches me for a second. I wanted to say something but I didn't know what to say. Then she puts her hand on my face out of comfort, wiping away a tear that crept up on me and slid down my face. "Everything is going to be okay." She says as she pulls me into a hug. I was shaking a bit but she didn't let go. "Don't worry." I'm a bit taller than her so I was able to see Spencer still sitting on the bed over her shoulder. Tears continued to slide down my face as her concern made me feel a bit worse.

I back up, sniffing as I try to hold my sobs back and wipe the tears away. "Come on." I say a bit muffled. "Let's find Aria."

Aunt Ella watches us with a slight smile.

"By the way. Monas party is later. So we'll be back to get our things." Then we both head downstairs and out of the house.

When we got to the front porch Aria was gone. I looked both up and down the street and didn't see her standing or walking around there. Her car was still here, so she couldn't have gone far.

"Where the hell did she go?" I say.

"I'll text her." Spencer says.

Barely a second after, we hear her text tone. I look around but she's nowhere to be seen. This time I call her so the ring could be longer. As she declined the call I had spotted where the ringing was coming from.

"Aria!" My mouth drops. "Are you kidding me?" She was sitting up on top of the garage of my old house. Hanging her feet on the edge. Me and Spence both walk over to her. "Get down." I didn't mean to sound so mad but I couldn't believe she was up there.

"Why was it okay for you to sit up here but not me."

"Well first of all, I used to live here. Second, how did you even get up there?"

She looks under where her feet was hanging. "The trashcan."

I look at it. Honestly, she's too short to jump up there, even with the trashcan. But I didn't feel like figuring it out. I look back up at her. "Get down." I emphasize the words.

"Why are you mad?" She jumps onto the trashcan, which tips over and I have to catch her.

"I'm not mad." I help her straighten up. "I'm just..."

"Upset..." I go to say something. "About mom and dad." She interrupts so I try again. "Which has you on edge of exploding."

I watch her. "Are you in my head?"

She half laughs. "I just know you."

"Do you really." I say sarcastically, which makes her smile.

"Yes I do. I mean I've only known you since diapers after all."

I laugh and we start to walk towards the main street. It's quiet at first, then I find something to get her to talk. "So I heard Hanna got uninvited to Monas camping...oh I'm sorry, Glamping party." They both laugh. "The hell is that?"

"It's a more girly way of camping."Aria says.

"Oh joy."

They laugh. "Don't worry. It'll be fun." Spencer says.

"With my Tomboy reputation, I honestly doubt that." They smile. "I'm serious. I had enough for Homecoming. If they try to put makeup, do my nails, or anything along those lines I'm out of there."

Aria watches me for a minute. "You're serious?" I nod. "Jessie, come on."

"So why did Hanna get uninvited?" I change the subject.

They just give me a look. "Her and Mona got into a fight over a rumor." Spencer says.

"What rumor?" I think. "Wait. You mean the one about her losing weight?"

"You heard about that?" Spencer says.

I nod. "Yea. Luna told me that some anonymous person sent Mona a text about it. How creepy is that?"

They both give a weird look to each other, then tried to play it off and smiled at me.

"Yea." Aria says.

"Creepy." Spencer finishes.
