"Let's talk."

Spencer?

My body jerks to the side, hitting my shoulder against something. The sound of screeching tires comes to my ears and I slowly open my eyes. Light is flashing in and out randomly in the darkness as my legs come into view. They're tied together at my ankles, outstretched in front of me. I'm not sitting on the metal chair anymore, the seat is soft but I can still feel tape on my hands tied behind my back and my upper body is wrapped up.

As I lift my head up I see that I'm sitting in the back seat of Mona's car. My heart pounds faster as my anxiety rises when I realize this wasn't all a dream, I'm still kidnapped. Everything is a bit in and out of focus as I try to keep myself awake, but I see Spencer in the passenger's seat talking to her.

"How did you do it?" I faintly hear Spencer ask. "How could you be everywhere? You were always one step ahead of us."

"You're not the only genius in this car." Mona says in her low tone. "You bitches underestimated me."

My head is pounding so bad that I have a headache, but that doesn't stop me from using all the strength I have left trying to get free from the tape. When I lunge forward I realize that the seatbelt is over me. Who would have thought that a psychopath would be so concerned for my safety? How freaking bipolar is that?

"Mm." I groan weakly.

"Jessie." I hear Spencer's voice.

I watch her turn around in her seat and I look into her clearly scared eyes. As terrified as I am myself, my eyes light up. I'm so happy to see that she's here with me, that Mona didn't kill her while I was unconscious. Even though I'm the one who has been in a shit of trouble all night I can't help but feel like I failed her. I should have done something, tried harder to figure out who A was when I found out.

She gives me a look, like she wants to tell me something as her hand comes into view. My eyes are still a bit out of focus but I stare at her hand and see that she has her phone. Hanna, Aria and Emily are staring back at me with shocked looks. They look like they are in the middle of the masquerade party.

"You're okay." She adds

My eyes widen in surprise, "Mmmm." I say a bit louder as it shocks and excites me at the same time that she's video chatting the others without Mona noticing.

"Jessie, shut up." Mona says.

"Don't talk to her like that." Spencer says in anger as she starts to move forward like she wants to comfort me.

"Spencer, move back to where you were." Mona's tone is calm, which I hate because it truly shows how much she doesn't care.

"We'll never make it to Look Out Point if you don't slow down!" Spencer says turning away from me.

I turn my head to look out the window, "Mmmmm!" I panic as I notice she's speeding up the cliff in Rosewood.

"Jessie!" Mona yells.

I jump from her scream and close my eyes, wanting this so badly to be a dream. I want to go home.

"Shut your mouth." she laughs. "Oh wait. Already is."

I open my eyes and see Spencer watching me helplessly as I move around again, attempting to get out. My hands are starting to go numb from being pinned between the backseat and me.

"So that's all you want?" Spencer asks. "For me to join the team?"

What team?

"That's it." Mona says to her. "Unless you rather not come down from this cliff."

"Mmmmm!" My breathing gets faster and my eyes start to dim out again.

"Stop whining!"

My heart jumps and I immediately shut up, my body shaking uncontrollably as everything that's happened swarms my brain. I start crying, shaking my head to get the memory's away and try to breathe. I look back up and see Spencer watching me in concern. The look she has is her trying to ask me, What did she do to you?

"What does Jessie have to do with this?" She says as she turns back to Mona.

"Well besides that she got on my nerves by being so nosy, I realized that my offer would seem more threatening if I said that you either take the deal…or I make her disappear too."

My eyes bug out in fear and I try to free myself again, "Mmm…hmmm." I start crying harder.

"What?" Spencer says in fear.

"Be on the A team, or you both won't be heading back down tonight. It's as simple as that."

Spencer turns to me and watches the tears slide down my face as I stare back. Not taking my eyes off her I shake my head, No. I wanted to say, to yell at her Don't do it! But I'm not even able to mumble that from having almost no energy now.

"But of course." Mona continues and Spencer looks at her. "If she lives she can't go blabbing my secret. So she'll have to join too…or don't. Either way, keeping her mouth shut as she walks around free. Otherwise I won't be as lenient to let her stick around."

She turns back to me and I see the fear in her eyes just as much as she probably saw it in mine, my breathing getting more rapid. "Is this some kind of payback? Because we let Ali treat you like that?"

"I am so over Ali, I told you that. She was never my friend but Hanna was, and you bitches took her from me."

"This is about betrayal?"

"It's not about betrayal, Spencer. It's about revenge."

I got kidnapped because she's pissed that Hanna started hanging with them again? I think to myself. That pisses me off as I manage to mumble through the tape, "Are you kidding me!" I get my legs off the floor enough that I kick across from me to her seat.

She reaches out with one of her hands and grabs my taped up ankles, "Jessie." She sounds like she's trying not to lose her temper. "One more out of you and you're going to disappear whether she takes this deal or not."

"Mona, let her go."

"Keep her in check or I'm throwing her out of this car, Spencer."

My heart sinks as Spencer grabs my feet and helps me set them back onto the floor. She looks at me and I shake even more than I was before, begging her with my eyes to get me out of here. She uses her hands to indicate for me to calm down, because my fast paced breathing is setting off a panic attack. She has a look in her eyes like she has a plan.

"You deserved everything you got." Mona starts again and Spence looks away from me. "You stole my only friend."

"Mona, she is still your friend." She stops for a second. "Okay. So what's the plan? A always has a plan right?"

"Yes." Mona says. "She does."

"So if I don't join the team, Jessie and I both die?"

"That's right. Wanna know how?" She looks at her with a nasty look. "Melissa doesn't have your dad's gun. I do."

My heart sinks.

"When Ali left it pulled you guys apart. It'll be the same if you both go away."

"No." Spencer says. "It won't."

All of a sudden I'm going forward in my seat. Amazingly my glasses stay on but I feel the seatbelt tighten for a second, making my ribs burn in pain. Then I get back to the position I was in and it loosens up again. My vision goes dark for a second as dots swarm it. When it comes back I see that Spencer jumps out of the car and starts to run away from the car. Light comes from somewhere next to me but when I look Mona blocks the view from the window as she's outside the car. A screech of tires comes and Mona for a second just stands there, probably in shock that the car got so close to running her over. Then she screams really loud in what seems to be frustration and takes off after Spencer. When she does the headlights to a car blinds me, making my eyes go in and out of focus for a second as I try to look through the beams of the car. I just manage to see Aria, Emily and Hanna jump out of it and run after Spencer and Mona. I'm too weak to yell for them to come back.

My breathing is getting faster as I helplessly watch Spencer fight off Mona from trying to kill her by the big tree at the edge of the cliff. My eyes dim out a bit as I can feel myself getting weaker, then Mona pushes her to the ground and tries to get her over the edge.

"Spencer!" I mumble out and lunge forward in an attempt to get free. That alone sucks out the last bit of my energy.

She gets up and Mona charges at her, but loses her balance when Spencer pushes her into the tree. Spencer attempts to grab her but she misses, and I watch Mona fall off the cliff.

"Mona!" Spencer screams.

"Spencer!" the girls yell after her.

My heart sinks. Did that really just happen? Did Mona just get herself killed?

The girls get to Spencer and grab her away from the cliff, pulling her into a group hug. Then Spencer turns her head, staring at Mona's car. "Jessie!" She yells and starts running, the others right behind her.

Despite them all being in dresses that seems to be hard to run in, Emily by passes them all with no problem and speeds to the car. Aria is right behind her though as they both reach it in no time and run to the opposite sides of the car.

Emily gets the back door on her side open first, "Oh my God."

I weakly turn to her and the fear in her eyes scares me.

"Jessie?" Aria's shaky voice comes now from my other side.

I turn away from Em and try to focus on Aria, but it's getting harder and harder to stay awake now. My head can barely stay up as I watch her jump through the door and kneels next to me on the seat.

She grabs my chin, making me look at her. "Keep your eyes open."

"Mm." I get out, feeling my breathing getting weaker and weaker.

"You're okay." She tries a reassuring smile, "Just keep your eyes open." She lets go of my face and unbuckles my seatbelt. As soon as she does my body gives out and I fall sideways onto her. "I got you." She says as she grabs me and starts to set me down onto her legs, while Emily grabs my legs and pulls them up onto the seat.

Relief fills me as straightening my body after hours of sitting up feels great. "Hmm." I look up at Aria and see her smiling down at me. If I could I'd smile back at her, it feels great to see her.

Her eyes are a bit teary but she seems relieved to see me. "I think you had a bit too much fun at the festival." She tries to joke.

I start laughing a bit as my eyes start to close.

"Jessie." She shakes me a bit. "You need to stay awake."

"We have to get her mouth out of that tape." Spencer says.

I look over and see her kneeling in the front seat. Hanna is in the driver's seat doing the same.

"She's not getting enough air." Spencer continues.

"We need to get her out of all this tape." Em says as she looks at my feet. "I think I might be able to get the tape off her ankles at least."

I watch Hanna moving around the front seat. "There doesn't seem to be anything useful in here. So while you're doing that I'm going to go check Mona's trunk and see if there's anything that can help."

I jump a bit from hearing Mona's name and make a scared noise.

"Jessie?" Aria says concerned. "You okay?"

I take a deep breath. "Hmm." I slowly nod.

"I'm going to call 911." Spencer says and leaves the car.

Then I hear the ripping sound of Emily pulling off the tape and I flinch, closing my eyes. My breathing races as Mona's face pops into my head and a memory flashes, "Stop whining!" her voice echoes as I picture her ripping the tape and slapping it onto my mouth.

"Mmmm!" I yell and start to wiggle every part of my body in fear.

"Jessie!" Aria yells.

My legs are free now so I start to kick and hands wrap around them to keep them still. I open my eyes and instead of Aria I see Mona, "Mmmm!" She starts sitting me up and I struggle to get away from both pair of hands that hold me. "Mmmm!"

Her arms wrap around me. "Jessie!" Aria's voice comes from Mona and she gives me a hug from behind. "Jessie, relax. It's me!"

I shake my head. "Mmm! Mmm!"

"You're safe!" Aria says and hugs me tighter. My back is laying into her body, shaking really bad. "It's just us." I start crying and she sets her head onto my shoulder. "Shh." She rocks me in place and I relax a bit.

"I found scissors!" Hanna yells as she gets back into the car and hands them to Aria.

She lays me back down so my head is on her legs again. "I need to cut the tape off." She no longer looks like Mona anymore. "Stay calm. Okay?"

I slowly nod and she starts to cut off the tape that's still wrapped around my body. She pulls it away when she's done and then turns me to the side. Emily holds me from falling so that Aria can cut the tape from my wrists. I try to lift my arm up when she does but I can't, so Emily grabs my arm and lifts it to the front of my body for me. Then they do the same with the other arm when they roll me onto my back again.

"You need to stay really still so I can cut the ones on your face. Don't move for anything." Aria says.

"Mm." I nod weakly.

I see from the corner of my eye Spencer lean forward, grabbing my hand. I look at her and she smiles. I squeeze her hand just as Aria grabs my glasses off my face, making everything go blurry. She hands it over to Spencer then brings the sharp scissors to the side of my face. It's cold and scares me for a second, so I decide to close my eyes and squeeze Spencer's hand tighter.

"You're okay." She says soothingly. "Think of something happy. Like puppies, rainbows, your favorite memory."

She continues to talk to me while Aria finishes up with the tape. One cut, two cuts, three cuts. On the fourth cut I feel her stop and lift my head to start taking it off. When I feel her get it off half my nose and mouth I take a huge breath and the chilly air goes through my lungs, making me cough. Then someone puts something warm on top of my body and I start to open my eyes.

"Hey." Aria says after she puts my glasses back on for me. "You okay?"

I see a lot of her at a time because of my broken glasses but I start to weakly smile and get out. "Always." Hearing my voice sounds wonderful.

I look at Hanna and Spencer, they both smile at me. Then I look down towards Em, she's smiling too.

Aria readjusts what I realize is my hoodie on me and then leans her forehead onto mine. "This is my fault." She says, crying.

"No." I say, taking another breath as I hear the sirens getting closer to us and tears slide down my own face. "Not at all."

Not too long later I'm lying on a stretcher in the ambulance vehicle with an IV in my arm, an oxygen mask over my nose/mouth, and my vision a bit in and out of focus. I still have the drug flowing in my system and it's making me feel really weak on top of being completely exhausted and hurt. Aria is watching me the whole time, holding my hand in comfort as I struggle to keep my eyes open and my breathing under control. Every time I close my eyes I see Mona's face and they have to calm me down again.

When the EMT guy named Josh tried to put the needle in after he carried me from the car to the truck I had a meltdown. Aria had followed to make sure I was okay and when she saw how I was reacting she had to help calm me down. Spencer was sitting at the bottom of the truck getting her hand medicated for a cut and I saw her turn her body towards me. When they got me to relax I saw the look in Spencer's eyes were just as concerned as ever. Emily and Hanna I could just make out over by a cop questioning them and were watching me.

"Can you follow the light of my flashlight, Jessie?" Josh says bringing me back to reality.

I watch him blankly for a few seconds as he takes off my glasses and then nod. It blinds me for a second but he moves it around and I follow it without a problem.

"Very good." He hands me back my glasses and then looks at my injuries.

He grabs a few things and starts to work on my head wound (which I found out was from a crowbar), stitching it up. He cleans off the gashes on my face that Mona's nails made when she slapped me. I have a cut and swollen lip, my ribs are bruised from when she tackled me in the alley, my ear is cut at the top and has to put some stitches on it too. My left eye is black and blue from the crowbar hitting me across the face and I have visible red lines around my wrists from the tape. The one with my watch is almost fully black and blue.

I look at Aria when he's done and she smiles. "You alright?"

I take a deep painful breath. My breathing is still very weak but I nod, taking off the mask to talk. "I've been better, but I'm okay." I say weakly.

Her eyes get sad. "I'm sorry you went through this."

I shrug, "Hey, this was all part of the plan to get your stalker. No sweat."

She smiles. "Your sense of humor amazes me sometimes."

"Can I interrupt?" A cop comes from the opening of the ambulance. "Need to ask these girls some questions."

"Ask away." Josh says "But if she starts getting stressed we need to stop." He says pointing to me.

The cop nods. "Of course." Then he sits next to Aria.

Aria explains how since the beginning of the school year they were getting texts from someone unknown and just found out who it was tonight. She tells him how I got kidnapped and that leads to him asking when I get grabbed. So I tell him how I got ambushed just after she dropped me off at Bobby's a little after six today.

I don't know what time Spencer found me but it's almost twelve in the morning now. I was in Mona's grasp for about five hours or so, and a decent amount of those hours no one even noticed I was missing. The fact that Mona was able to take me without a trace is really scary.

When he asks me specifically what happened after she dropped me off I can't get any farther than when she drugged me after putting me in the trunk. I start shaking really bad and repeating the words, "She didn't like it when I whined." over and over. My breathing gets too much and the heart rate machine spirals.

"That's enough." Josh says trying to hold me down when I freak out to his touch, while Aria does her best to tell me I'm okay in a soothing voice. But nothing works so he shoots something from a needle into my arm to relax me and sets the oxygen mask back onto my face.

The cop nods. "I have enough for now. Feel better, Jessie." Then he hops out.

"This isn't something she'll be able to get over will she?" I hear Aria ask, but I'm not able to process it at the moment. I'm still shaking badly and not really focused, my eyes darting around and still repeating the same sentence.

"It's hard to tell. But we need to get her to the hospital." Josh says.

"Okay." She leans in and kisses me on the forehead. It scares me and makes me jump. "It's just me." She says and I look at her, finally focusing. Her eyes are tearing up. "They are going to take you to the hospital."

It takes me a second. "Can you come with me?" I say muffled through the oxygen mask.

She smiles a bit. "I'll get there when I can. I need to make sure this is all over." Then she jumps out.

I look over and see the girls all smile at me. They are looking over from the bottom of the ambulance truck.

I smile back and then hear. "Girls." They turn away from me.

"Dr. Sullivan." Aria says.

Yes, the same Dr. Sullivan that was supposedly taken and killed by Mona. Clearly that was a lie.

"We tried to find you." Emily gets in.

"What did she do to you?" Spencer adds. "Where have you been?"

"She threatened my son. I didn't think I had a choice. I needed to leave. I'm so very sorry." She looks at Hanna, who has her head hanging down. "Hanna, it's alright. You're safe now."

I hear her crying now. "I can't believe this. She was my friend." Dr. Sullivan pulls her into a hug.

Then Emily says. "It's over Aria."

They're all crying now and Emily goes over to Spencer to hug her. Spencer lays her head on Emily's shoulder.

Just as they are asking them if they can clear out from the truck so that they can get me to the hospital I see Dr. Sullivan look over to me and then back to the girls. "What happened?"

My unfocused eyes watch them stare at me in tears, but now I can feel my eyes start to get heavy when a loud, "She's alive!" comes to my ears and I see the looks of fear in all of their faces as they look at me. That's the last thing I see before I pass out.
