Potato Blake
The new first-year students of Beacon stood on the cliff edge, listening to Professor Ozpin explain the situation of their initiation to Beacon. He took a sip from his mug of coffee, allowing Glynda Goodwitch to add a little bit of information herself. He noticed a somewhat disappointed reaction from one of his favorite new students, Ruby Rose, when Glynda stated that they would be getting their partners today. Ozpin nodded to Glynda before continuing himself.
"These teammates will be with you for the rest of your time here at Beacon, so it is in your best interest to be paired with someone with whom you can work well. That being said, the first person you make eye contact with after landing will be your partner for the next four years."
The reactions from the students were mostly dismayed, though a few seemed fine with the idea. Ozpin continued, unaffected by the students' displeasure. "After you've partnered up, make your way to... the northern end of... the forest..." One of the students was doing something that distracted him, and the fact that they kept doing it was starting to get to him. "Excuse me, Miss Belladonna?"
Blake glanced at him briefly, then went back to what she had been doing as if he hadn't even said her name.
"Miss Belladonna... what... What is that in your hand?"
Blake took another bight of the object and spoke around a mouthful. "Uh... a baked potato."
"Why are you eating a baked potato?"
"I was hungry."
"Where did you get that?"
"I saw it in the kitchen and I've heard that they're not as good when they're cold, so I thought I should act quickly and..."
"Nope. I still don't get it. Why would you eat a potato?"
Blake didn't look away from the Professor. It took a moment, but she finally found a response. "Are... are you saying you don't know why people eat potatoes, sir?"
There was a moment of silence. Then, Ozpin stepped to the side and tapped the platform Blake was standing on. It activated, launching her into the air. Ozpin waited until Blake had landed in the forest below the cliff to continue.
"Okay, starting over from the top..."
And that's why Blake wasn't in that scene.
Barbe-Kyubey
Weiss was out somewhere, forcing Ruby to practice her battle tactics. Blake was at the library. Yang was all alone in her team's dorm room, and she couldn't help thinking just how darn bored she was. Just then, she heard a strange sound at the window beside her. Looking over at the window, she saw a strange little white creature had climbed onto the windowsill.
Yang jumped down from her bed and addressed the creature. "Hey, what are you?"
The creature stared at her with its small red eyes. "I'm Kyubey! I'm here to make a contract with you so you can become a magical girl!"
Yang thought about it for a moment. "A magical... girl... Wait a second, I'm already magical!"
Kyubey blinked. "What?"
Yang's aura flared up, scorching the air around her. "This girl is on fire!"
Kyubey turned and jumped out the window. "Okay, no, I'm not sticking around for this."
Ruby and Weiss walked into the room just in time to hear Yang shouting out the window. "Yeah, that's right! Keep running, you little white rat! Come back here and we're gonna have a barbecue!"
Author's Note: A couple of anime parodies to hold you over until the raps are complete. I've decided it would be better to keep the momentum, rather than letting it sit around pointlessly waiting for something. The point of RubyRolled! is to have quick updates. Not going to betray that purpose again. Enjoy! I'll have more of these parodies sometime later, and also other stuff. And don't forget that you can still send in a request for your own character to appear in the future rap battle chapters. I've only got two such entries so far.
