Story of Tranquill (PeacefulShipping)
"Good job, Tranquill! You found the lost Minccino!" Ash praised his gray-and-black winged Pokémon as she came down from the sky and perched herself on Ash's head. The chinchilla Pokémon Ash and his group had been looking for was crouched beneath a small tree, shaking in fear.
"It's okay, little Minccino!" Iris slowly walked toward it, holding out her hand. "We won't hurt you! We just want to take you back to your trainer!"
"M-Minc…" the Minccino, with its ears folded and head down, glanced up at Iris, who was smiling at it. Minccino then unfolded its ears and wobbled its way toward Iris.
"Good Minccino." Once Minccino was close enough, Iris patted it on the head gently. She then turned to face Ash and Cilan. "Come on; let's return Minccino to its trainer at the Pokémon Center."
Uh-oh... Tranquill thought. The Pokémon Center…
Ash, Iris, Cilan, and the lost Minccino—which had run away from its trainer in fright after it was chosen to battle against a scary Garbodor—were now headed to back to the Castelia City Pokémon Center where Minccino's trainer was located. The trainer was so distraught about Minccino running away that he gave up on looking for it. Ash had told him that was unacceptable and went to go find it himself—but not before retrieving Tranquill from Professor Juniper by switching with Swadloon.
Pikachu and Tranquill were trailing behind Ash and his group. Pikachu offered to talk after noticing Tranquill looking sullen.
"What's wrong, Tranquill?" Pikachu asked.
"You're lucky, Pikachu…" Tranquill said, flying steadily beside him.
"Huh? Why do you say that?"
"Ash has kept you in his party since the beginning and has traveled with many different Pokémon on his journey. But…it seems the only thing I'm good for is looking for Pokémon and the like. I'm not much of a battler. I must let him down…"
"That's not true! You're just as important to the team as everyone else!" Pikachu disagreed.
"I'm glad that you think that, but…I don't believe that to be the case. I'm always the first to be switched when Ash needs another Pokémon on the team. And I'm sure that once we get back to the Pokémon Center he'll switch me again with another Pokémon…"
"Tranquill…" Pikachu frowned.
They reached the city and made their way to the Pokémon Center soon after. Iris spotted the trainer and returned to Minccino to him. After a talk between Ash and the trainer about how he shouldn't give up on his Pokémon and should try to help it to face its fears, the trainer thanked Ash and his group for their help and went along his way. Ash smiled as he looked as Tranquill.
"Good job as always, Tranquill!" he patted her head. Tranquill was happy for the gesture, but frowned once Ash looked over at the video phones.
"Hmm, should I rotate before we set out again?"
"Ash, don't you think you rotate your Pokémon enough?" Iris shook her head. "Why don't you just keep Tranquill in your party for more than three minutes?"
"Well, Tranquill's not much of a battler…" Ash pointed out.
Tranquill lowered her head. He was right, after all. Tranquill didn't particularly like to fight and just proved her point to Pikachu. But Pikachu wouldn't accept that.
"Prove to Ash that you can be more useful than that!" Pikachu waved his arms at Tranquill. "Not every Pokémon is strong or likes to fight, but that doesn't mean Ash doesn't care about you just because you choose not to fight."
That caught Tranquill's attention. She could be useful in other ways.
"Ash, that doesn't mean anything. You should know more than anything that Pokémon aren't just used for battling. If Tranquill can't battle, there's got to be other things she can do," Cilan explained. "Why don't you ask her?"
Ash frowned. "I can't believe I thought that way! I must have hurt Tranquill's feelings…" Ash walked over to Tranquill and scratched the area under her beak, which she couldn't help but caw at the sensitive but gentle touch. "I'm sorry for doubting you, Tranquill. Will you stay on my team with me? We can work together and learn some other skills besides just battling."
"Tran~quill!" Tranquill flapped her wings in excitement. She wasn't sure what she could do, but she would do whatever to prove to Ash that she was more useful than any ordinary Tranquill.
Because she had the love of her trainer to encourage her.
