To anyone else, it seems that autumn had come suddenly arrived too soon this year. But on the morning of September first, it was crisp and golden as an apple, and as the little family bobbed across the rumbling road toward the great sooty station, the fumes of car exhausts and the breath of pedestrians sparkled like cobwebs in the cold ar. Two large cages rattled on top of the laden trolleys the parents were pushing; the owls inside them hooted indignantly, and the redheaded girl trailed tearfully behind her brothers, clutching her father's arm. "It won't be long and you'll be going, too," Harry told her.
"Two years!" sniffed Lily, "I want to go now!" Harry sighed as he saw the people around them staring curiously as they wove through their way to the platform between 9 and 10.
Albus stayed back, and quickly kneeled down, pretending to tie his shoe. He looked behind and then looked at his wife, he gently led his youngest to his mother and walked over to his second child. He kneeled down and helped him out.
"Dad, what if I am put in Slytherin?" he asked.
"Albus Severus Potter, you were named after two headmasters of Hogwarts. One of them was a Slytherin and he was the bravest man I've ever known," he encouraged.
"But just say that I am," he persisted.
"Then Slytherin House will have gained a wonderful young wizard. But, listen, if it really means that much to you, you can choose Gryffindor. The Sorting Hat takes your choice into account," he assured.
"Really?" he questioned.
"Really," he responded.
They both stood up together and rejoined their family. James, their oldest son went first before Harry looked over to Albus. Both father and son laid their hands on the trolley, "Together?" his son nodded. They both briskly pushed the trolley past the barrier and arrived to the other side safely.
When Ginny and Lily joined them, Albus asked, "Where are they?"
"We'll find them," Ginny assured him. As they moved through the crowd, searching for familiar faces, Ginny said, "I think that's them, Albus." They saw Hermione and Ron with their daughter, Albus couldn't be more relieved to see a familiar face. They were catching up since the last seen each other.
"Have you seen them?" Harry asked both Ron and Hermione.
"Harry Potter, if you don't say hello and give me a hug, I will be very cross!" a female voice shouted out.
"As if you could!" he exclaimed. He turned around, smiled and hugged his surrogate mother. "I'm glad you're here," he whispered to her. She was responsible for the students and what happens to Hogwarts Express every year. But she also makes personal visits to his house as does he.
"Miss Cullen!" Lily called out as she wrapped her arms around her waist.
"Well, hello, Miss Lily," she greeted her and Lily giggled. "Daddy won't let me go this year, can you take me with you?" she pleaded.
"Lily!" Harry reprimanded.
"Ah, Harry! You shouldn't be chastise her in public," Ella told him and Lily stuck her tongue at her father, "But you should be listening to her your father," she looked crestfallen that Ella took her father's side. "But your time will come soon enough and then you'll be able to come with me on the train."
"It won't come soon enough!" Lily cried out.
"True," she started off. She looked at Harry and winked at him, "But think of it this way…"
Lily gave Ella her full attention, "Now that your brothers are going to Hogwarts, your parents are now able to give you whatever you want," Harry groaned as Lily's eyes widened and smiled at the idea.
"I can't believe you told her that!" Harry stated.
"Oh, she deserves to be spoiled, Harry!"
"Now, I know I didn't just hear my favorite girl talking about sneaking onto the Hogwarts Express," a voice called. Lily widened her eyes and looked all around her to find her favorite uncle.
When she finally saw him, she squealed and ran and jumped into his arms, "You're taking me with you, right, Uncle Edward?"
"I'm afraid I won't be able to this time around, Miss Lily," he responded as he held her so lovingly. "Your time will come soon enough." She hid her face in the crook of his neck.
"Lily…" Ginny started off.
"Give her time and she'll be herself again," Ella responded. Ginny and Harry nodded.
"Now, Miss Lily, Uncle Edward and I need to go on the train and make sure that things go smoothly," Ella said as she rubbed her back.
"I want to go now!" she cried softly.
"I know you do, sweetheart," she comforted her "but it's not time yet. When things are settled in Hogwarts, Uncle Edward and I will be stopping by Diagon Alley to get some things before visiting you."
"And you'll bring my favorite treats?" she asked.
"Yes," she answered.
"And books?" Ella nodded. "Okay." Edward let her down gently and she walked towards her mother.
"Both of you need to stop spoiling her so much," Harry said.
"We spoil all of your children, Harry," she said.
"True, but now more so than before," he informed her.
"I'm just trying to ease the pain of her not being able to go," Ella responded.
"All aboard!"
"It's time," Ella said, "I'll send an owl to let you know when we're coming" At that, Harry nodded. Both Ella and Edward both climbed onto the train as it chugged its way to Hogwarts.
"I'm glad that both Ella and Edward are still with Hogwarts," Hermione said.
"Me, too," Harry agreed, as all three of them looked onto the disappearing train that had their children.
"I miss Auntie Ella already," Lily said as she pouted.
"As do I," Hermione said as she led her and her friends to their favorite café to grab something to eat. It was tradition for them to grab something to eat after sending off their children.
