Yang
Ruby jumped away from the computer. "Okay, I did it!"
Yang looked up from her book. "Did what?"
Ruby looked at her like it should have been obvious. "I found Farmville. I left the link in the bookmarks for you."
Yang jumped up, tossing the book that was actually Blake's to the side. "Oh my gosh, Ruby you're my hero!" She jumped into the seat in front of the computer, unable to contain her excitement. She never saw Ruby backing away towards the door, a sly grin on her face.
As soon as Yang clicked the link, cleverly left with the title 'Totes Farmville', she knew something was off. The logo came up, sure enough, but the whole thing looked like a video. She shrugged it off, assuming it was just an add before she got to the game. Who was she to argue. Farmville was back!
Then the screen changed suddenly to a video of Ruby dancing while wearing a trench coat. The words that played were none other than, "Never gonna give you up. Never gonna let you down. Never gonna run around and desert you. Never gonna make you cry. Never gonna say goodbye. Never gonna tell a lie and hurt you."
Ruby held the door open, already standing out in the hall. "You've been RubyRolled, Yang." Then she was gone.
Pyrrha
Ruby was hanging unseen outside JNPR's window. Ren and Nora were elsewhere, and Jaune had locked himself out of the room again. Pyrrha, however, was unaware of Jaune's plight and was preoccupying herself with trying to learn to cook. Ruby wasn't concerned with the troubles of the various members of the team, as they were all ultimately trivial difficulties in the lives of secondary characters.
Looking up, Ruby checked to make sure Crescent Rose was holding her firmly in place. Once she was certain, she wrapped one arm around the weapon to hold herself up while freeing her other arm. She pulled out her scroll, not actually her scroll, with her message already prepared. Looking down into the room where Pyrrha was attempting to not burn a pot of water, she grinned and pressed the button with her nose.
"And send."
In the room, Pyrrha heard the chirp of her scroll. She pulled it out and opened it, pressing play on the curious video message supposedly from Jaune. She was greeted with a video of Ruby wearing a trench coat and dancing. Pyrrha fumbled and dropped her scroll, surprised by how loud the video was, with a song playing loudly. The words of the song were none other than, "Never gonna give you up. Never gonna let you down. Never gonna run around and desert you. Never gonna make you cry. Never gonna say goodbye. Never gonna tell a lie and hurt you."
Ruby shouted from outside the window. "You've just been RubyRolled! See ya, sucker!" She tossed Jaune's scroll in through the window, then fired Crescent Rose and launched herself into the night.
Everyone Else
Several students, as well as a few teachers, had received these strange videos. Each instant had been followed by Ruby appearing and telling them they had been RubyRolled, but none of them understood what that meant. The entire student body, as well as all of the teachers, had been gathered in the assembly hall to try and lay out some sort of defense against further attacks of this nature.
Ozpin was about to start speaking, when the overhead screen turned on without warning. On it, where all eyes were trained, was Ruby Rose in the trench coat. The drums rolled, and that all too familiar chorus began. "Never gonna give you up. Never gonna let you down. Never gonna run around and desert you. Never gonna make you cry. Never gonna say goodbye. Never gonna tell a lie and hurt you."
Ruby jumped onto the stage and grabbed the microphone away from Ozpin, shouting into it. "You all been RubyRolled! Catch ya later, mother*boop*ers!" And off she dashed, a red streak heading out the window in a split second.
The Master Returns
Laughing at her triumph, Ruby walked down the hall to her team's room. Everyone was still standing and staring in shock at the video in the assembly hall, so there was no risk of anyone being in the room waiting for her. She opened the door and stepped into her room, turning on the light.
Ruby suddenly screamed in surprise when she saw someone standing in the middle of the room, waiting for her. She had no time to react before the words started. "Never gonna give you up. Never gonna let you down. Never gonna run around and desert you. Never gonna make you cry. Never gonna say goodbye. Never gonna tell a lie and hurt you."
When it finished, Ruby had only one word for her response. "Mom?"
Summer jumped backwards out the window, flipping the bird as she went. "Prank master!"
Standing in his office, Ozpin was leaning on his cane and sipping coffee after a long day. Suddenly, Summer appeared from nowhere and slapped a pie in his face. She started dancing around in victory.
"Ha ha ha! Prank master! Master of the pranks! Prank master! Yeah! *boop* your cane!" She kicked his cane out of his hand, letting him fall to the ground, and then she ran off to wherever she had been hiding the past ten years.
Melanie's Notes: Absence complete! I return, with an introduction to our beloved wildcard character Summer Rose. She may show up again next chapter, or she may disappear for another ten years. Summer comes and goes as she pleases. Hope you like her debut.
