Chapter 44: Lucky Number Seven

A crash echoed through the Goddess' chamber as black wings found itself against heavy weight from the body that the wings were attached to. Tsusuki glared at the dark angel who had been running off to assist the enemy despite everything he told him. His plans were falling apart before his eyes and it was all because of everything that in this palace. No signs of preparation were encountered through the hall now that he got a good at it. It was full of a celebration to honor their "dead" comrade from so long ago and now that was enough for Li to think twice. Li held onto the yellow feather for dear life so it was only natural to snatch it from the dark angel and use it against him.

"You think you're going to get away with this?" Tsusuki questioned as he kicked the dark angel against the wall. "Do you think after I get rid of everyone here that you'll be spared any pain? You're so useless!"

Li didn't respond and only bit his tongue with each kick to the stomach. Was he trying to make him throw up?

"…You're going to lose…"

That wasn't from Li though. That came from the other angel that being beaten up in the room. Tsusuki had Pit have his way with the soon to be judge, but the angel had a hard time attacking him when came down to it. Either the barrier being broken was weakening him or Pit's willpower to protect his comrades and Goddess was coming back slowly and no magic could tie him down. All the white angel could do to Valerie was take one of his twin daggers from his bow and cut his long hair. Yes Valerie reacted poorly to seeing the hair he took so much time growing scattered around in front of the throne but Pit didn't care. Tsusuki wanted Pit to rip the older angel's eye out but that wasn't going to happen. Pit responded by slamming the judge against the floor and impaling him in the arm. The wounds weren't deep though and Valerie remained defiant in comparison to Li who just refused to response to Tsusuki's rampage.

"You only have one Smasher left in your grasp…you don't have any more bosses to prevent their advancement. The royal bodyguards…they'll come and kill you." Valerie smirked as he forced his head up despite Pit stepping on his back. "And even if they don't, I'll personally put you on trial making you wish you didn't mess with me…"

Tsusuki turned his attention to the angel who released his foot off the soon to be judge. Grabbing the judge by the small ponytail he had left, he hoisted him in the air and punched him in the stomach. Tsusuki must have thought the stomach was where it was the most painful to attack someone but of course, no man would go for the sacred jewels hero of villain.

"Guhh…you're…easy to read…"

"I underestimated you kid. You only need to use a little bit of your power to read my mind."

"Maybe you shouldn't be…like an open book…gahhh!"

Tsusuki let him go only to strangle the judge off the ground. The one eyed angel had no strength to fight back. If he could just use his power to levitate something in the room to hit the bastard in the back of the head, he would be fine, but at this very moment, he was as good as dead.

"I guess I should eliminate you now and throw your corpse in the hall to show how serious I am. Heh heh. A pretty little head like you should be good…huh?"

Tsusuki looked down and noticed he was bleeding. A sword was in his stomach. He backed off almost immediately dropping the white haired angel to the ground.

"What…are you doing…Pit…"

The white angel was standing in front of the judge. Li looked up amazed at the willpower the Captain was portraying in this moment. Even without that ring, his mind was coming back for Valerie's sake.

"Pit…"

"Cap…tain?" Valerie called out between coughs.

"Valerie…Li…run…" Pit mumbled clutching his head. "Guhh…I can't…too strong…Lady…Palutena…"

Tsusuki's hand glowed a rainbow color as he raised his hand toward the Captain. Pit screamed trying to fight the mind control but his fighting strength was fading away into darkness. Valerie refused to obey the Captain as he slowly crawled over to the Captain who was on his knees now and gave him a weak embrace.

"Captain…fight back…"

"D-Dammit…Valerie…gahhhh!"

Pit resorted to shoving Valerie away as he felt himself losing himself to Tsuski's magic completely. The empty eyes returned to him and he became his lifeless soldier. All of this was becoming too much for Tsusuki though. An unexpected attack on him at a time like this! He needed to by some time…

"Tch…"

Li was screaming again seeing Tsusuki taking the yellow feather in an attempt to crush it. The dark angel refused to shut up, but at this rate he would lose everything. His last chance was to use his magic and drain the energy of the lightning angel and that damn one eyed freak in order to put a halt. It wouldn't be long until the palace was searched and all the angels trapped inside or hiding would join in the final battle.

"You two angels…make yourself useful…and bring back that witch from the Underworld to the palace…"

The same angel that was watching from the shadows gasped seeing what Tsusuki was doing. Yes, he was probably the one who influenced Pit's temporary break through but he still couldn't reveal himself now…

The palace was filled with the strongest demons imaginable. With the palace being taken over and the angels left were either turned to stone or held captive in specific rooms of the divisions, the demons had to keep their guard up because it only took one misstep for them to fight back. Tsusuki was not being cautious and underestimated the royal bodyguards especially with them out and not having wasted any power to get inside.

It was underhanded to let the Smashers do all the work for them up to this point because it meant they were going to be the heroes. If it was to save the universe and their home realms though, it was something they would need to sacrifice.

The warriors that went with them though were taking the demons before they could even attack. Shadow was in the lead being able to Chaos Control in front of them catching them off guard before Lyn would ram them with her sword. These demons were different because when they died, they just disappeared into nothingness. Ike felt like maybe they weren't demons and was from another world entirely…like it was the same magic used behind that door.

"LET THEM BURN! LET THEM BURN!" Pepper hummed as she shot fire from her mouth and all the demons that were in front of her were burned to a crisp.

Mcenche rolled his eyes as he put his hand on her shoulder. "Hey, you got to be careful. There are angel statues here and you might accidentally kill someone with your flames."

"Oh please, these demons probably put them all in your division and locked them up."

When she said that though the group were reaching the center of the palace where everything branched out into eight paths. Ike found it odd how the Goddess chamber was not in the center nor was the first division the middle path. This was because the group wanted to arrange it from one to eight.

"Perhaps we change it when this over?" Sun-Wong questioned.

"we better." Aqua mumbled. "I'm stuck with idiots on both sides."

"Hey!"

At first the bluenette thought Pepper was shouting at her but on closer inspection, Pepper was looking ahead. She gasped.

"Valerie!"

There were many angel Centurions turned to stone in the area but the one that caught Pepper's eye was the angel that wasn't turned to stone. In fact, he was lying closer to the center than anything else. There were obvious chains on his arms and legs preventing him from escaping. The poor guy was beaten and his hair…was lost.

"Valerie!"

The other angels weren't following for this and Roger grabbed Pepper.

"It's a trap!"

"What? But Valerie-"

"Be careful everyone!" Himeno warned urging the Smashers to get back.

Sure enough, a closer inspection of the chains were them actually being snakes. If that was Ian's boyfriend trapped by the snakes then he would be a sobbing wreck now. A powerful aura was starting to form where Valerie was placed.

"Oh, you angels are smarter this time around. How cute."

Oh no…that voice…the angels except Roger knew who that was and backed up almost immediately. This would put Valerie in danger though because a snake head started to merge from the floor. The judge was going to get bitten by the vicious vipers but before the figure could emerge and grab Valerie, that mysterious angel finally decided to act and swooped in incredibly fast breaking the "chains" and carrying the judge to safety. This would go unnoticed though because the attention was to the center where a gothic looking woman appeared before the royal bodyguards. Compared to Palutena, she wore darker colors and had snakes for hair. Her skin was a pale purple and she just chuckled seeing the fear she installed into the angels.

"It's been far too long." She spoke with a sinister grin plastered on her face. "This palace is starting to be painted in my colors from the looks of it."

"…Medusa…" Pepper mumbled as Roger let her go.

"Wait…so this is the gal that got our Captain's twin killed?" Roger asked confused. "Did this Tsusuki guy revive every villain from your past?"

"probably to taunt us…" Aqua mumbled.

Ike didn't know who she was but he would fight her if she was standing in the way of saving Pit. Himeno extended her arm though scowling. "No, you all must focus on liberating the angels in the palace. We royal bodyguards will handle this."

Ike wasn't too sure of that. Besides the dark angel, the others looked ready to turn tail and run back to the entrance.

"…At least find an alternate path to Lady Palutena…we'll be able to handle ourselves."

"Alright, if you think this is how we will proceed, will search the palace for any survivors."

"Thank you." Himeno said with a smile.

How many rooms the Smashers could go through though was limited though. Medusa was specifically standing in front of the first division so they couldn't reach Palutena. Unless the rooms when you reached the end was in a big circle, it would be impossible for them to specifically make it to her chambers where Tsusuki was. By this logic though, other angels would be in the lower divisions.

The royal bodyguards got in position to battle Medusa. It may have been six against one but it was a Goddess versus a group of angels, many who weren't that extraordinary by any means. Himeno and Aqua remained in the back of the group with the wind healing being the designated healer and Aqua the sniper to prevent any snakes from biting the group. Pepper and Sun-Wong were in the middle of the group having the versatile battle style. Mcenche and Roger were forced to the front as much as the ice angel hated the idea of attacking Medusa head on. Roger being the only angel who wasn't involved in the first battle with her had no problem charging her without warning. Medusa found this amusing as she stepped out of the way and summoned some snake demons to her aid. Roger slashed them aside followed by Mcenche freezing the floor preventing any summons from below. However, Medusa was fine summoning more Underworld troops from another dimension to go at them.

Attacking Medusa head on proved to be ineffectual as it did years ago. Medusa was a long distant fighter in the end and she soon started shooting eye beams from her eye. These didn't petrify anyone but it was destructive to the interior of the palace.

"What's the matter you little angels? Can't fight me properly without your precious captain by your side?" Medusa taunted as she knocked Roger away with her staff when he got too close.

Well things weren't going well after all. Pit had items that could get through Medusa's armor (to be fair they were fighting an ugly gorgon, not her Goddess form) and he was able to maneuver the group better. The group was probably too passive and probably required a Smasher like Ike to give them orders instead of the jumbled mess they were in at the moment.

Pepper should have been paying attention to the battle at hand when she glanced at Isaak's feather. Medusa was not playing around just because the other royal bodyguards were attacking her and she needed to stop for a minute to catch her breath. Medusa swung her scepter toward Pepper. Given the size, the fire angel could feel the pain in her stomach as she was sent flying into the upper wall where there was some objects hidden. From a distance, it looked like advance technology in the form of cannons and guns but on closer inspection…it was something else…

As the Smashers came back from searching some of the rooms, Shadow stopped when he suddenly heard a familiar beat. Sonic smile widened as the beat started to pick up."

"Really? You guys went to war and you put a stereo there?!"

Pepper was still rubbing her stomach from the attack but the music perked her up. The vibration from the stereo discharged throughout the room. Pepper barely heard Shadow's snarky comment.

"Hey for your information, we were preparing for a birthday party, not a war! We didn't have time to switch them out so we just put them away!"

"Well no wonder you guys lost so quickly." The black hedgehog snarked, "if that was a machine gun, we would already be battling Tsusuki."

"Hey Shads, this music is pretty cool though." Sonic hummed as he felt himself moving to the beat."

"I forgot how much you like LMAO…so much you forgot to perform at the karaoke party."

"Don't remind me. When we have another one, I'm definitely going to sing to that."

The music didn't affect just Sonic though. The minute the music hit Himeno's ears her fighting style changed. From healing everyone in the back to suddenly going on the offensive on Medusa did catch the Goddess of Darkness off guard. Twirling her fan around, she created razor blades with each step to the musical beat. Medusa deflected many of the blades to cancel them out. Himeno would surprisingly go with melee attacks combined with extending the size of her fan to block Medusa from attacking her. Medusa only remembered the wind angel in her youth crying in the back while Pit did most of the work. She wasn't the fighter but to see so many years and to see her come up with her own battle style was rather impressive.

"So the princess does have a few tricks up her sleeves."

Himeno was so into the music that she didn't hear Medusa's insults. If she broke concentration, she would be running to the back of the group to go back and heal. Sun-Wong didn't attack when he had the opportunity to do so. He was mesmerized by Himeno's dancing capacities and how it was used in battle. He told her not to fight when he, Isaak and Roger went to the frontlines but he could see she was capable of matching the boys in battle (so as long as there was music to dance to).

The pink haired angel shrunk her fan to block similar to how a swordsman would. Her groove was getting interrupted at this point given how Pepper didn't do much with the variety of music (would have been for a crappy party).

Mcenche was also affected by the music but instead of it affecting his battle prowess, it gave him the excuse to move away from the battle to start breakdancing. Aqua noticed and proceeded to snipe him if he didn't get back on the front lines to cover her.

"get back to work."

"But that hedgehog is doing the same thing too!"

Shadow was trying to prevent Sonic from making a fool of himself now and be serious. There was a serious threat in front of him but apparently it was okay for him to start taunting with his breakdancing.

"he's not fighting…you are now get to work."

Aqua took her staff and nearly shot him with water magic. Mcenche whined about how abused he was by the women in the royal bodyguards before closing his eyes and chanting an ice spell to make his katana sharper.

The Goddess of Darkness was getting tired with these angels. Himeno was putting on a show more than taking the fight seriously, the men were distracted by her sexiness and the other girls weren't attacking when they had the chance. This was Palutena's army without Pit. They were unable to stay focused when the universe was at stake. If they weren't going to take her seriously, she would end them right now instead of play along with their little game.

"I see you angels find it amusing to use me as your toy instead of taking me as a serious threat like your precious Goddess would." Medusa pushed Himeno back and intended to turn her to stone with her magic. Himeno blocked it by opening her fan only to yelp to see her fan being turned to stone and it becoming heavy.

"Play time is over."

She wasted no time blasting the stereo behind Pepper causing the fire angel to jump out of the way. Cursing at how she would have to buy a new one for Ian later, she looked toward Medusa who was using her staff to blast the angels away. Sun-Wong snapped out of his trance to race over to Himeno and grab both her and her fan (stones won't break his bones). Aqua had her water blast her backwards behind some stoned angel that were hit…and destroyed in the process. Aqua didn't flinch at all with the Centurions being broken apart like they were years ago.

Sonic and Shadow couldn't stay in the area and had to take cover in the hallways where the magic wasn't reaching. Lyn managed to come back with Will and Matthew only for them to jump back at the breaking statues.

"Wil, please shoot the feather!" Pepper called out as she charged Medusa hopping over her magic only to screech when snakes were sent her way. "Eww! Keep those snakes away from me!"

The archer wanted to know what the fire angel was talking about. Matthew pointed to the shining yellow thing that was hanging from the chandelier above the group. Wil probably misheard Pepper because he aimed for the chandelier instead of the feather and fired.

"Not that!" Pepper shouted but it didn't matter because it did its job anyway.

Himeno and Medusa moved out of the way when the chandelier came crashing down shattering all the glass that it was made from. The feather inside the case was released on its own and didn't require anyone touching it. It must have been the impact for Isaak to turn back into his angel form. Being under the chandelier wasn't an advantage though and all he could do was cry out in pain at how heavy it was on him.

"Oww…oww…oww! Why would you do zat?!"

There was another problem though. The chandelier was in front of Medusa who smirked remembering the blonde angel from years ago at her mercy.

"Isn't this a nice treat? I get to kill an angel after awakening from his slumber."

Isaak remembered the voice and froze instantly. Why was Medusa here in front of him. Normally he would get his guns out and shoot whatever scared him but he couldn't move his body with the weight on top of him. He couldn't crawl out of the way in time to dodge her attack either. His scream caught the royal bodyguard's attention after Medusa forced them to stay back.

"Isaak!" Aqua called out to her partner.

Medusa intended to set Isaak as an example. Her staff was generating a large amount of energy intending to turn Isaak to stone. This wasn't your normal petrification spell though. If you were hit by something like this, you crumbled immediately. Medusa always used this spell against humans due to her spite toward them, but never used it on the angels because she wanted a challenge. She paid for it dearly during her first defeat but not again. She would get them all this time.

The royal bodyguards rushed toward Medusa with the attempt to deflect the blow but she summoned snakes from another dimension to deal with them. These snakes were too much like the hydra. You cut one in half and two more took its place, but of course if you drowned, fried or froze it then it wouldn't make a difference. More just kept coming out of the portal next to Medusa. Someone needed to close that up to get any closer.

"Dammit at this rate Isaak is going to die yo!" Roger cursed as he sliced the snakes. More of them dropped on him though as they sank their fangs into his skin. He growled feeling the poison getting into his body. He was getting too reckless at this point and with Himeno too far away to heal him, he might be dead before he gets anything accomplished. "Dammit! Get the fuck off me you reptiles!"

Isaak shivered seeing that Medusa was ready to turn him to stone. There was no second chance like the first time. As a child, being a statue was a horrifying experience but to shatter afterwards…

Li…I didn't even get to…no…Li…

That mysterious angel looked down from an upper balcony (after confirming that Valerie would be okay) and quickly shot the dimension portal that was creating more of those snakes. Medusa glanced up only for a minute to catch purple hairs in the shadows and scowled.

"Kaguju…you…"

This distraction though was enough for Roger to plow his way through the snakes despite being poisoned.

"Isaak!" He called out.

Medusa turned back and fired at the lightning angel. Her reaction time was too slow at this point though. Roger threw his sword at the Goddess of Darkness causing her arm to be cut (but she was fast enough to dodge the sword whole. Roger jumped in front of Isaak took the full on attack.

"Roger!" Isaak called out. "Don't do it!"

The process of petrification was quick from the attack. Any other angel would have been turned to stone immediately before crumbling. Not Roger though who's body only got halfway allowing Roger to at least speak to Isaak.

"No…I'm done…I underestimated her…and you were going to die bro…not going to happen on my watch yo."

"Roger, you can still break free! You're ze muscle of ze group!"

"…Nah…I don't think I'm going to make it out…Isaak…listen to me. You want to save your most cherish person?"

Li? Of course Isaak wants to save him! Now that he knows that after all of these lonely years that he was alive and on the wrong side, he had to save him…but he didn't want his friend to die because he was caught off guard twice!

"If you know that, then go get him. I may not like that little shit, but he's the world to you." He chuckled feeling the stones getting to his chest. "It's funny. I hated the idea of being replaced by that bastard…I still do…but I realized that all of those years I was with you guys helping you to heal…it wasn't a waste of time…"

"Roger…"

Roger just laughed feeling his face slowly being stoned. "I wonder…where humans who die and become angels…go when they die again…I wonder if I'll…reincarnate…yeah…that sounds nice…starting over…is…wonder…ful…"

His face finally turned to stone. Medusa who was clutching her arm where the sword was thrown didn't hesitate to swing her staff shattering the angel statue in front of the lightning angel. His eyes widened in horror seeing his best friend crumbled before his eyes.

"ROGER!"

The snakes stopped coming but the damage was already done. The angels could only look in horror at what happened to their comrade.

"One down," Medusa said in a mocking tone. Looking at her distorted face though revealed an angry side to all of this. "Perhaps you angels should have asked for your…companions to help you out. Without Pit, you are weak. You can't even come together to defeat me."

What would the lightning angel do now that one of his best friends was gone? Would he continue to mourn for his friend while Medusa proceeded to decapitate the defenseless angel? Or would he let his anger get the best of him and fight back?

Medusa moved back witnessing lightning coming out of the blonde's angel body. Isaak's eyes flashed a white color as he blasted the chandelier off of him.

"How dare you!" Isaak shouted as lightning bolts started to appear in his hands. "How dare you kill Roger you witch!"

Playtime was over as far as Isaak was concerned. His lightning magic shot at Medusa intending to shock her heart. Instead the snakes that she summoned took the blow and they immediately got fried. The blonde charged Medusa who blocked with her staff. When he grabbed her staff attempting to pull it away from her, the staff itself was absorbing the electricity and the longer Medusa held onto her own staff, the longer she got zapped. Realizing this, she had the snakes in her hair attack. While not the best method given the snakes was connected to her hair, being bitten in the arms caused Isaak to flinch and allowing Medusa to jump back. At this rate, Medusa would enrage the angels preventing them from thinking clearly on how to defeat her.

Isaak already had a plan though and he was going to do it himself. He was leaving himself wide open as he spread his arms out.

"Oh großen Donners Ich rufe-"

Medusa wasn't going to let him finish his summon as she shot a rather weak blast that combined her dark magic with a snake that came out of the attack and bit him in the arm again ruining his concentration. Isaak had every intentions of summoning his Aeon to get rid of her. From her experience in her long life, once the mystical being was out, you couldn't win unless you were an anti-summoner or you summoned a being of greater power to deal with it.

"You think you other angels will summon as long as I'm here?"

Medusa unleashed her full power in the room. Anybody who wasn't an angel was blown out of the room. Shadow prevented Lyn from being sent flying into the wall while Sonic and the guys did a better job keeping their foot in the ground. With snakes flying everywhere with the black tornado she created, there was no way they could get a good shot in.

"You angels are weak! Palutena is pathetic for choosing you fools to protect her. Now you will all perish here while I continue my quest for vengeance!"

"…No…you won't."

A whip cracked in the background as the dark magic slowly disintegrated into thin air. Before Medusa could react to the sudden change of events, she found her body was chained to the floor preventing her from moving.

"She's defenseless. All of you summon your Aeons to send her back to her grave."

"Kaguju…why must you betray me again?!" She demand as she tussled with the chains in a desperate attempt to break free. These weren't your normal anti-magic chain. These chains were used by Gods to restrain weaker Gods from becoming too powerful. "You're in this room you coward! Show yourself and fight me!"

The mysterious angel refused to do so instead letting the royal bodyguards avenge their friends. Shaking off the poison that might have gotten into his body, Isaak focused on summoning the Aeon of Lightning. It wasn't just him though; the other angels got behind Isaak and also spread their arms out to summon their element summon. This was risky because they might not be able to defeat Tsusuki after using their strength to defeat Medusa. Rita and Ginger were advised to stay behind the royal bodyguards as they performed. Because the angels rarely summoned at the same time, it would be a spectacle to see many Aeons in one place. Sonic felt something inside him shuffle as if there was an Aeon inside of him wanting to be freed like the rest.

One by one, the mystical creatures from another world would arise from the floor. Some of them like Pepper's Ifrit would reach out for her while others like Sun-Wong's Fenrir rushed over to his master's aid. With all summons in place, Isaak finished up summoning his thunder horse. A loud neigh echoed the area as it appeared out of another dimension. The horse ran toward Isaak at blinding speed. The blonde jumped up and hopped on the horse's back.

"Ixion, you know what to do."

The horse made a u-turn and charged toward Medusa. At Sun-Wong's order, the other summons channeled their magic and aimed toward Ixion. Because the horse was moving so fast when the elements hit it, not only was lightning surrounding its body but the other elements changed its element. Isaak gripped on his summon's neck tightly.

"GO!"

This was an overkill attack and the angels knew it. To the younger angels, Ixion appeared to be incredibly flashy.

"I want to do that…" Ginger mumbled as Rita stood close to him. "I want to summon too…"

Medusa wasn't paying attention to the horse in front of her. She ended up looking up and finally spotted the mysterious angel who was standing in the shadows with his back turned to her. She reached her hand out to him.

"Kaguju…don't…do this again…"

The mysterious angel refused to look at her. If he turned around he might make a grave mistake. He shut his eyes hearing the Goddess of Darkness' scream when Isaak rammed Ixion's horn into her chest.

"Garghhhhh!"

"Go back to the hell you belong witch." Isaak growled as Medusa felt her body crumbling with all the elements flowing into her. This body was just revived so she couldn't take the attack and with the mysterious angel's magic, it wore her out more than she expected.

"Kagu…ju…"

When the Aeons disappeared after their attack, Medusa's body crumbled into a pile of dark ash. Isaak didn't realize he was breathing heavily when he dismissed his horse.

The mysterious angel could only frown seeing Medusa being killed off a second time. She was a tragic and pitiful Goddess. He tried to remain hidden from her view but it seemed like whenever he was around, she had eyes looking in all directions for him. As the ugly gorgon, he didn't dare show his face to her in fear that she would curse him for her disgusting appearance. He still decided to avoid her despite not being in the same situation now. How could he face her though when Tsusuki used his magic to bring her back from the dead? Even if he helped vanquished her this time…he would never let Tsusuki get away with bringing her back to make her suffer…

With Medusa's death, there was nothing blocking the Smashers from reaching the throne room where she and Pit waited to be rescued. Isaak didn't care at the moment though as after his summoning, he rushed over to Roger. Grabbing a few pieces of the broken statue, he refused to let himself cry at this point when they need to the Goddess and the Captain…

It hurts…Isaak thought to himself grasping the hand of his friend. Roger…I'll avenge you…don't worry…and sorry…

"Hey, what's that?" Wil asked pointing to something that was floating in the sky. Sonic and Falco recognized the shape almost immediately. The figure might have been held captive from Medusa serving as the last barrier like the other fortresses, but regardless, the figure was laid out in front of the steps toward Palutena's chambers.

"FOX!"

After disappearing during Pit's breakdown, it was good to know that Fox didn't just run away from the conflict. To see him here should have been a wonderful thing…except that he was breathing heavily like he was losing air and for a normally colored fox, he was ridiculously pale.

"FOX!"

Sonic was quick to be by Fox's side with Falco right behind him. The leader of Star Fox continued to wheeze desperately trying to get some air in. Was the curse finally affecting him?

"You idiot! Why did you transform? You know you'll die if you couldn't fulfill the requirements!"

Falco kneeled down in order to grab a hold at Fox's head in order to pivot his neck in a way he could get some oxygen. It wasn't doing him any justice.

"Come on Fox, you're not dying on me! I just woke up and I see you like this?! What the hell happened to you?"

"Long…story…" Fox mumbled with a chuckle glancing at the hedgehog with a weak smile. "I tried…to save Pit…but I ended up like this...I'm a goner…"

"F-Fox, don't say that. We have healers here. We'll get you back on the ship. C-Come on…don't…"

The hedgehog already made a promise he wouldn't cry anymore so he wouldn't let anyone down after that horrible incident nearly ruined him.

"Fox…"

"Sonic…I wish…I could have spent more…time with you…sorry…"

The fox slowly closed his eyes as supporting his head suddenly became difficult. Both Falco and Sonic gasped realizing what was happening. By the time the other Smashers got there, Sonic was already shaking Fox awake.

"No, no, no! Fox get up! No! You can't die here! Open your eyes! FOX!"

Me: TBC with 6704 words.

Li: Do you like beating me up?

Me: Yes. Pit and Pittoo suffering makes me work faster. Notes.

1. Valerie's hell is his hair being cut off. Like screw all the stabbing and punching, you cut his hair off and he's going to be angry. This is really going to bite Tsusuki in the ass big time...

2. Because Valerie is introduced so late into the story (but he's brought up in the other fics and/or will appear in the Disgaea ones), the relationship that Pit and Valerie have is complicated. Valerie technically has a fanboy worship of Pit in the same vein as Pit has a worship of Palutena. Valerie will never admit it though to Pit while he doesn't mind broadcasting his worshipping to people he deems below him (but to his friend's he'll deny it). Pit's view of Valerie isn't seen since his view in this story is only on the royal bodyguards. My other stories explain though that Pit doesn't get along with the Angel Assembly and is at odds with Valerie (he doesn't know what to think of him). Pit is protective of all of his angel comrades regardless though (so you don't have to worry about a sudden threat to the main pairing in this story…despite the lack of Ike/Pit going anywhere in contrast to Fox/Sonic).

3. Medusa is not giant sized in this battle for those who didn't notice. It's been established that Gods are able to increase their size when they're not in the area but when you fight them; sometimes they take the size of a giant like Medusa or Hades or is tall like Palutena. My headcanon though is that since all the Gods can shape shift in Greek mythology that Medusa chose her normal size for this battle (and because Tsusuki didn't put all of his power into bringing her back to life to her giant size).

4. Roger's death…it was coming…you notice how he disappeared from other Fanfiction with the royal bodyguards? It's generally because I have no use for him there and in this story, the only hope is to sacrifice himself and then hope to reincarnate when all is said and done…

5. "Oh great thunder I summon" is what Isaak was saying in German but he kept being interrupted.

6. Kaguju and Medusa have a complicated relationship. When I write the one-shot for Medusa, it will bring up what the hell had gone down between the two enough to warrant this hostility between the two. Be warned when I do, it will spoil Kaguju's identity for all stories to come.

I apologize for the action scene. They are incredibly hard to write for me because you need a balance. If it's too short, you can see it as a one sided battle while if it's too long, you're just dragging the battle out like a shonen manga. I really do need people's opinion on this because I feel like Medusa's battle was lame simply because the royal bodyguards just needed to summon their Aeons to defeat her (but that won't be possible against Tsusuki given how much energy they wasted against her so I have more creative freedom with them). Plus, Medusa doesn't have her abilities from Uprising because she's not a giant. Anyways, reviews are appreciated. Ja ne!
